How do you feel about the mother? How do ya feel about Flint Ryder?
What is your top 3 favorite Disney animated movie?
To be honest every time I watch this I feel like I just wanna punch mother gothel she's so evil and cruel with the twisted and manipulative things she does throughout the movie. I find Flynn aka Eugene to be kinda funny but instead of a smolder I prefer a smile 😁 lol.
please react to:
"THE PRINCE OF EGYPT" its THE MOST AWESOME ANIMATED MUSICAL of a MOVIE
I couldn’t stand Mother Gothel in the movie Tangled. I thought that she was so evil and manipulative and I was so happy when she got killed off.
I thought that Flynn Ryder was really funny in the movie but the smouldering did not impress me.
My favorite Disney Animated movie right now are:
Frozen/ Frozen 2
Coco
Aladdin
The Little Mermaid 🧜♀️
Beauty and the Beast
Cinderella
Etc.
You have to do mulan and the little mermaid! And beauty and the beast if you haven't seen that yet
Lion king hercules and tangled are my favourite disney films.
Also if not tried already moanna is great in my top five along with mulan
frozen is worth a least one watch but not a favourite of mine
The gaslighting was a major thing in this movie. The kids who saw it started to recognize the behavior in their own parents
I grew up with a mother who was very much like mother Gothel not as bad but had some tendencies! I still live with the affects at 45yrs old! But I'm breaking the cycle with my own children play 😊
Can relate.
I was one of those kids (well, a teen, but still). I didn't know what gaslighting was back then, but I definitely recognized it the first time I saw the movie.
@@kristagerry8505 People like you make me believe in the world
@@AW-xc1xc thank you 😊
Fun fact: Flynn's character design came from a "hot man meeting" at Disney in which they gathered all the female employees in the studio to ask them about their opinions on what makes a man attractive.
well they did a great job because damn he fine
What makes a man attractive: Being Jensen Ackles 😍
And I love that so much. Still not sure who is hotter, Eugene or Naveen. They should approach every Disney Prince with such ambition and dedication to crafting hot guys every time! (Though it might end in results similar to Eugene over and over again, IDK.) He's also basically Gambit without the accent, red eyes and trench coat, someone pointed out on the Gambit Guild forum ages ago. LOL.
They were not wrong....:3
The funny thing is that for us Latinos he looks like a singer named Chayane who by the way also dubbed the character.
I think "Mother knows best" should instead be called "Gaslighting: the song"
Agreed
Underrated comment 👏👏
mhm
“Mother knows best at gaslighting shoud “ sounds like a good title
I heard a sweet theory that Eugene is narratoring the movie because he's actually telling it as a bedtime story to their children: "This is the story of how I died." (little kids look scared) "Oh don't worry, it's actually a very fun story... about a girl named Rapunzel." (The kids giggle and smile because now they know it's about their mommy.) At the end Rapunzel comes in and gives the "Eugene..." 🙄😆 "And they lived happily ever after." And their parents kiss their foreheads and tuck them in.
It makes sense they're telling at the Holly and Poppy
Thats a really sweet story
Oh, I love this 🥹
Yeah considering he's a great story teller at the bonfire. That would be really cute🥺🥺 🥰🥰
I also like the idea that Rapunzel’s mom read stories to orphans (where Eugene heard the stories of Flynn Ryder) and then Eugene is carrying on her legacy telling their story to orphans himself
Few things you might not have noticed on the first watch:
Whenever Mother Gothel shows Rapunzel any affection, she's actually showing it to her hair. Like kissing the top of her head.
In contrast, when Eugene does the same, he pushes her hair away from her face.
Whoaaa I never noticed that... thank you for the knowledge
this broke my romantic heart omg
Thats a very good observation.
I still love this movie so much and I love their duet song At Last I See The Light. Its one of my favorite Disney songs to play on my guitar to my little neice and nephews.
They love it when I play hit Disney songs.
And she calls her little flower
@@BillyBinges In the tower Mother Gothel's room has a door that she can lock and Rapunzel only had a curtain that mother Gothel could trespass anytime she wanted.
Mother Gothel is literally the only Disney villain that's ever died of old age.

Aww that's an adorable detail I never picked up on 😍
Oi, I only noticed the first of the two you have listed. May vigil find me regarding the second.
Plus, Gothel always uses dehumanizing nicknames for Rapunzel (“pet”, “little flower”), since she only cares about her healing powers. What a 🤬.
"YOU ARE NOT LEAVING THIS TOWER! *EVER!"*
The way Rapunzel flinches gets me every time.
Then followed by, "Great. Now *I'm* the bad guy."
The entire scene hits WAY too close to home.
Flynn/Eugene is one of the most loved “princes” for A REASON
I think Eugene is very similar to Aladdin since both were thiefs from the start and fell in love with a princess tho with Eugene Rapunzel didn't know she was 1 till later on in the movie while Jasmine had grown up knowing she is 1 both Eugene and Aladdin have better lives cause of them being with their respective princesses and live happily ever after
@@naruXsasulover2 technically they don’t “live happily ever after”. Because of Tangled the series.
@@fangirldreamer748 oh ok I didn't see the Tangled series so thank you
@@naruXsasulover2 that’s alright!

Mother Gothel could’ve saved herself a lot of trouble if she’d just lied to Rapunzel about her birthday and the lanterns.
I mean she did lie to Rapunzel about the lanterns, telling her they were stars. Also, if she had lied about her birthday Rapunzel still would have wanted to leave the tower at some point, possibly to still see the towers as them appearing on a singular day is still pretty strange.
@@MaeAlessa But she might not have realized she was the princess if she didn't know she had the same birthday
@@absterps yeah, but she would still want to see them. Just, not as much. So you are right there.
The bigger question is why she stayed in that kingdom?
Why not move further away so Rapunzel wouldn't be able to see the lanterns and the palace guards wouldn't be in the area?
Then the movie would be shit

I really like how when you're watching films like Tangled, you acknowledge the thematic undertones seriously, like the gaslighting and manipulation, whereas others might joke about it or brush it off, as these are some really important messages to bring across!
That’s what I’m saying! I know this is a year later but I recently found this channel and I absolutely love when he does point out this stuff because as you said others just joke it off
Fun fact about Zachary Levi, Flynn's voice actor: Part of the reason why he accepted the role of Flynn Rider was because he hoped Tangled would be featured in a Kingdom Hearts game someday. And then the dream came true when Kingdom Hearts 3 happened!
Why does that sound like such a Zachary Levi thing to do?
You gotta admit that the mother character is ON POINT; the manipulation, selfishness, narcissism, etc.
That's some people's mothers. There are a lot of good ones out there.
I just love how he calls her mother Ethel
You should see the cinema therapy video on mother gothel and gaslighting!
so true. I can see a lot of my mom and I’s relationship in rapunzel and mother gothel
Yep, you can really see the shift in her character in the reprise of mother knows best, her attitude completely shifts when repunzel stops listening to her
“How’d you meet your husband?”
“He broke into my tower so I knocked him out with a frying Pan and got my chameleon to stick it’s tongue in his ear and then we went to go find the magic floating lights in the sky. Also, my hair glows when I sing!”
“911 what’s your emergency?”
You probably came from north korea
Literally LOL!
If you want to know in the original tales. Rapunzel wasn’t really kidnapped, but her parents gave her to the witch in exchange for the mother’s health and taking her magical plant by accident. In the original myth also Flinn was a prince who got Rapunzel pregnant and when Mother Gothel found out she abandoned Rapunzel in the woods to give birth alone and Flinn fell out of the tower landing on a rose bush and getting his eyes poked out. Rapunzel finds Flinn and uses magic powers of tears to heal him. It was a tale against teen pregnancy.

@@SaiyanElf I'm not talking bad about Frozen, I just think Tangled is underrated.
People seem to love Tangled more than Frozen to be honest...
In the original story, the parents were a baker and his wife. When the wife was pregnant, she had all sorts of cravings for fresh veggies. And the witch next door had a wonderful garden. So the wife asked the husband to go into the garden for some rampion (which is also called rapunzel!) and he did, and got caught by the witch. The witch said, I'll let you live, but I'll take your kid in exchange! She took the child when she was born and actually DID love her, but was still too controlling. A prince stole into the tower after hearing her singing from below, and they fell in love. She was going to run away with him, but before they could escape, the witch found out and in the end the prince ended up blind and wandered the desert for a few years. Meanwhile, Rapunzel was pregnant, and gave birth to twins. She escaped the tower with them and found the prince, and cried onto his face and his eyes were healed. The end. 🤣 (I may have skipped some stuff!)
It's great becaus Eugene goes on a journey to learn selflessness while Rapunzel learns freedom. And they both find a place to belong. ALSO, they have a really great 2D animated movie (Tangled: Before Ever After) that kicked off an epic 3 season series that fits between Rapunzel's return to the castle and her adjustments to life as a princess and her engagement to Eugene, complete with Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi returning to their main roles and music by Alan Menken himself. It's really awesome and full of lore surrounding the Sundrop Flower, the magic of her hair, and other magic in the kingdom. And it solidifies Rapunzel and Eugene as #1 BEST Disney couple. Eugene Slander is DISALLOWED.
The reason why this is called Tangled is great. Basically, after Princess and the Frog, Disney weren't happy that boys weren't watching the movies they marketed towards girls. So all they did, was change the move name from "Rapunzel" to "Tangled" and put Flynn on the poster. And boom it worked. Absolute Genius
We love to see it 😊
What are oys

There is an animated short where Eugene and Rapunzel get married and the chameleon and the horse are in charge of the rings and just know it's chaos trying to get the rings in time for the ceremony.
There’s also a series which takes place before that short.
Yes, great short!
I also recommend Tangled the Animated Series. It takes place between Tangled and the wedding short, and is both a continuation and a completely new story filled with new characters and new plot arcs. It also answers some questions from the movie, such as "how did Gothel know the song" and "where was Gothel going when she left the tower all the time".
Also, every song is a banger, just saying.
I gotta check it out
two years two late but this is my all time favourite series i agree with u every song is definitely a banger
Whare was gothel going?I've seen many episodes from the seres, but I haven't seen that.
Tangled is not only one of the best Disney features but it's also one of the best written because it actually offers a script with two protagonists. Both Eugene and Rapunzel are the protagonists of the story.
How I knew that my mother was an abusive narcissist was because she literally told me in the theater that "Mother Gothel had the right idea" and that she liked her. I relate to Rapunzel a lot.
I’m speechless
what makes Gothel compelling is that she uses a lie with a grain of truth. Something sympathetic like "the world is scary and will harm you" which IS true... Mother Gothel is proof of that. She's the one LITERALLY harming Rapunzel.
my mother did the same exact thing in the theater, she said “see mothers always knows what’s best”
Same. My mom was singing mother knows best to me with a smile on her face😬
Stop demonizing people with npd.
On the tear thing, that was from the original story. The guy in that one was pushed from the tower and blinded by thorns he landed in, many years later he and Rapunzel reunited and her tears healed his eyes. Disney actually took it a step further.
I remember I got to see this movie in 3D in theaters and the Boat scene was absolutely breathtaking with 3D glasses on.
Flynn was like the horse..he just needed a little love also 🥰😂
The smolder worked on me! A guy worked at a fast food joint in 1995 and I'd go there just about every other day to hang out with him. He worked the grill and would look out into the dining area with that smoldering face. Little did I know at the time that he had bad eye sight, but refused to wear his glasses to work, and made that face/squint to try to see how many people were waiting to order. Something that may blow your mind; whenever Mother Gothel tells Repunzel she loves her she actually says it to the hair. Whenever Flynn expresses love he pushes her hair away from her face. How's that for cool and subtle on the part of Disney animators.
The only thing that bothered me more than mother bothers gaslighting is the fact she calls her “Flower” in a few scenes. That aside, T angled really is a fun movie and I really liked the TV show to~ Love your reaction videos~
I never thought the smolder would work. Then I saw the parade at Disney World, and Flynn smoldered at me and my friend from the float. That was the first time in my life I have ever legitimately swooned. It was a total involuntary action, and I can't believe it actually worked.

You literally called her having another family. Big spoiler for the animated series:
Gothel has a biological daughter named Cassandra who she basically left in the dust practically her entire life while she raised Rapunzel.

Yeah. You can look it up if you want. That's the whole reason Cassandra turned on Rapunzel for a bit tho is because Gothel abandoned her for Rapunzel.
Something I just noticed is the detail in his eye when he wakes up after being hit with a frying pan on the floor. His pupil is bigger right when he opens his eyes but then gets smaller. Then obviously Rapunzel hits him again. That's what is so great about this movie is the small details that people don't even think to look for. It's literally THE best Disney movie to ever be made.

seriously go watch it, it's great
Actually the magic *was* in her hair. When she cried, the last of the sun drop's power was used and she could no longer heal people with it.
@@starsiadraws
Spoilers alert too*
I don't know how to put this into words but I'll try my best to elaborate.
In my opinion, I don't think it was the last power of the sun drop since she was the literal sun drop but only when the sun drop (kinda looks like the moonstone but yellow) has been pulled out to her by zhan tiri. Also the fusion of the sun drop and moon stone in the finale, you can see it.
Meaning the hair wasn't the sun drop but she was, the hair was one way to show it.
And to prove it, the Tangled: Before Ever After movie. She had awaken the moonstone rocks or black rocks because she was connected to it and gaining back her hair, meaning it was not her last power of her hair but she was the actual sun drop.
And if you were saying it was the last magic of the sun drop's healing, maybe not, because she could still possibly heal in tears or other forms from her body and with the sun drop within her of course.
For the reason she wasn't able to heal with her hair in the series is because it was not her birth hair which had a power of healing. And it was not also the last time she used the healing power because she saved Cass with it by holding onto the fused gem.
Have you seen Tangled Before Ever After or Tangled The Series? You should do reaction videos based on both. That's where you get all the answers about Rapunzel's hair and so much more!

I felt similar! First time i saw it I said to my sister - well Mother Gothal was still a good parent even if she was a bad person - because i genuinely couldn’t see the abuse and manipulation since it’s what we were living through. I was only our baby-sitter saying ‘no she wasn’t’ that made me start to rethink. Now as an adult i think - how did i ever not see it!

Maximus best horse
The fact that Gothel was manipulative, she didn’t just act evil. That makes it even scarier, cause this way abused person doesn’t know what to feel. In real life it can lead to an abused person feeling worthless, thinking they are loved cause of some kind actions thus deciding to continue living with the manipulator / abuser. And when trying to find comfort from other people it’s hard to explain why they feel like the other person abuses them, other people also might think that they complain without a reason. Manipulation abuse is scary.
Gothel acts nice to her and let’s her have a birthday only for rapunzel to think she is actually cared for, so she believes it is necessary to stay with her
Its giving me emotional abuse vibes and honestly it was so well done
@@lesbiangoddess290 exactly. And notice how Eugene even doesn’t think her situation is awful, cause rapunzel really when complaining to him says: my mom loves me, she just is scared to let me out cause she cares about me. And many people be like that: yes they feed me, give me place to stay, say they loves me, how can I make people realize I feel abused? And this what actually happens behind closed doors
That's so freaking true cause I can relate to it so much. I spent so many years alone at home. My mother would get angry whenever I tried to ask of I can go outside. She wouldn't act evil bit would give such an stern look that it's scary. Once I finally went to a school trip but when some girls asked me to pick their things I felt so much bullied that I almost had an anxiety attack and I also I kept thinking whether mother is fine at home and not getting angry.

my mom always mentions my weight especially when i eat and it caused me to have an eating disorder at 13. im 15 now and im
planning on moving out as soon as i’m 18
That’s not very nice :( please try to love yourself as you are, don’t internalize what she says
@@pearlescobar9449 Luckily I've grown up a lot sense then and my self confidence has increased too. It took a while to shake all the bullying and I still have bad days, but I've made a ton of progress. Thank you for being so kind in your comment. :)
My favorite comment about ‘mother ethel’ “she done manipulated me” 😂😂
Only found your channel a few days ago and I'm addicted!
And, to let you know, you have one of the most really beautiful, genuine, amazing smiles I've seen!
Beautiful inside and out!
No need for that Flynn's smirks hahah
Much love from Portugal!
“His ego's bout as long as ol girl's hair.”
-My favorite line any RUclipsr has said ever
😂 well thank you!
Relationship levels in Disney movies:
3) Connecting over dumb shit
2) Kissing
1) Singing to each other
How “dumb” is it if they Connect over past traumas?
My husband said, the aerial shot of the scene of the king and queen released their lanterns and everyone followed, it looked like Rapunzel's hair lighting up magically.
I just found your channel a few days ago and have been loving your videos! Your smile is infectious!
Flynn Rider is the best Disney “prince” ever
Naveen from “The Princess and The Frog” is a competent competitor!
Personality wise so is a Nick Wilde from Zootopia, obvs completely disregarding the fact that he's a fox
Disney guys who are not 'princes' are usually the best. Like Aladdin, Sinbad, Jim Hwkins etc
@@chickenisindeedmystyle7316 well Naveen can still be included on the list.

Man, I've never seen anyone hating on Eugene so much before. He really had it out for him.
Eugene is the most beloved Disney prince ever, the fangirls speak for themselves
I love it when he says “ of course “ LIKEEEEE😩🤌🏻
I really like the Tangled series set after this movie as well. I think it does a great job of exploring Rapunzel settling into a new life as a royal, and the trauma her parents have to work through of having their child stolen, and dealing with that when they finally get her back years later.
Just a little info for all the Gothel haters (so you can hate her even more) :
She actually had a real daughter (she treated like crap), but abandoned her when she was three to "take care" of Rapunzel. The kid was found and raised by the head of the royal guard, and became Rapuzel's lady in waiting
Now you can add child abandonment to Gothel's crime record :)
Gothel is still the best Disney villain
Poor Cassandra.
cass 😭
When he said, “Eugene Herberhizer”, I lost it 🤣🤣
i will never stop talking abt how attractive eugene is like *OHMYGOD WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE THATTT*
11:14 The fact that you find out in the series that she indeed had a different family and daughter now makes a lot of sense.
“Mother Gothel must have another family” Well you werent wrong lmao she had an actual Daughter on another cottage and Also gaslighted her
Wait what???
I need a tangled sequel right now for mother gothel's other daughter.
@@elizabethblack2674 no need, you just have to watch “Tangled: the series”. Is A MASTERPIECE but a lot of people ignore it because “it’s just the series of the movie, so it must be bad”. I super recommend it to you, and yes that’s were the actual daughter Gothel appears
@@monmasva I think I've watch a bit of that. Is it on disney plus?
@@elizabethblack2674 Yes, all three season are on Disney Plus. It's a different art style, but it has the same voice actors (and so many famous Broadway actors as supporting characters), which makes it really good.
“I know some girls who look like that lizard thing with their makeup off. I know some men too.” Damn he threw that shade so hard it went into orbit
Flynn narrating at the start of the movie: "This is the story of how I died."
. . .
Billy, later: "Did he just die? Y'all he just died!"
so basically he cut her hair not only to kill mother A but also to save rapunzel from not living her life. he literally willingly died for her to stay alive. This is why he's my favourite disney princess movie male character
Also yes mother gothel did have a family, she had a little daughter.. Mother gothel abandoned her the day she stole rapunzel. So the the captain of the royal guards adopted her
CASSANDRA!!!??? WTFH AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
@@lavanderheart581 Yep
Originally, in the Brothers Grimm story, the mother was craving rapunzel leaves in the witch's garden. The father stole some and the witch caught him. So, she let him have the lettuce. But when he robs the witch a second time, she said she'll let him have the lettuce, but when the baby is born, he has to give up the baby. Yeah, Rapunzel's parents gave up their daughter to the witch for lettuce.
See i read an interpretation of rapunzel that said rapunzel means radishes. It was very strange
I saw a version were it was tea leaves (similar to the Disney version but not exactly no [no Flynn or anything then it just followed the og plot line])
The lettuce was because the mom was dying, not just because she was craving it
Okay, I pulled out my copy of Grimm’s Complete Fairy’s Tales and basically, it says that the garden was known to belong to “an enchantress, who had great power and was dreaded by all the world.” The Mother saw rampion (another name for rapunzel) and she had the “greatest desire to eat some.” Her desire for it increased every day and she pined away, becoming “pale and miserable.”
Her husband is concerned (obvs) and she tells him she shall die if she doesn’t get some rampion. “Sooner than let thy wife die, bring her some of the rampion thyself, let it cost thee what it will.”
He stole it, and her craving for it increased threefold the next day.
“If he was to have any rest, her husband must once more descend into the garden... when he had clambered down the wall, he was terribly afraid, for he saw the enchantress standing before him.”
She asks how he could steal from her and says he’ll suffer for it. He asks for mercy as he only did it out of necessity for his wife to keep her from dying from longing for the rampion.
“Then the enchantress allowed her anger to be softened, and said to him,’“If thou case be as thou sayest, I will allow thee to take away with thee as much rampion as thou wilt, only I make one condition, thou must give me the child... it shall be well treated, and I will care for it like a mother.’ The man in his terror consented to everything...”
TLDR: So yeah, her mom had such an intense craving that it was killing her to not have any and in terror, her husband agreed with the enchantress to give her their baby in exchange for as much rampion as his wife could eat and mercy on them for stealing.
(I didn’t mean for this to be so long but I love fairy tales 😅)

Top 3 Disney Movies
1. Tangled - I love Flynn and Rapunzel's dynamic.
2. The Princess and the Frog
3. Aladdin
Ah yes the three disney princes who have personality...
Agreed
No. The Princess and the Frog made me want to kill myself. It was intensely boring and cliche.
@@josephcline3652 not a single part of that movie was boring..... idk how people can sit through Moana

Lmao your reactions 😂 I was lowkey offended you didn't like Flynn in the beginning but can't blame you. He was meant to look like a cocky but charming ass at first glance. 'Flynn' is his pretend character and the real Eugene is actually super sweet, caring and a freaking gentleman (i admit part of Flyn still lives in him but still!). You can really see his character develop further in Tangled: The Series !! (It happens between the film and the canon short where they get married).
Keep up the good work!
😂 yeah he really had to grow on me!
But thank you for watching ❤️
tangled is one of my favorites!! humor and everything feels right to the time it came out and how i was the targeted age for it basically. i will always love it lol! also, this is my first time watching your video and im subbed!
