This is seriously one of my fave channels, look forward to every video
I have sprayer like you. Used it on couple of apartments. I spray half overlaps and I get two coats done in one go. Second, because it is so little mist/paint dust from it, next time I plan to paint the walls first, then the ceiling. I think it will save work in the end, having gravity helping you masking the walls should make it easier. Also I found out that you need to take the handle (gun) apart and clean carefully inside it after few uses or at the end of the Project. There are tiny bits of paints that sit in there and it somehow will at one point start leaking (obviously when you least need it). I am not only talking about the filter in it, but the trigger mechanism. But I really enjoying having tool like this.
Brilliant as always. I have a Wagner sprayer but not airless. I used it outside and found I used so much paint but maybe it was too windy that day...
Great tips, I'm going too but one in screwfix, you sold it for me! Iv a hole house too do 10ft ceilings, all fresh plaster, thank you for the advice 👍
Quicker to remove sockets and lightswitches / ligjt fittings and tie a bag around them. Obvs turn.the power off where needed.
Once you get to know your wagner its fun as heck to paint! It took me a couple of rooms then i was painting like a pro!
I’ve just got myself a Wagner Control Pro 350m and a Wagner FLEXiO 570 ready for some action. I’ve even built a spray booth in my large garage ready to do some private job.
well done mate as always, good luck to you and your family very committed person cant wait to see more work on the house
Looking forward to seeing Jo give a "my studio setup" tour!
Tim if you make a small landing and 2 steps from the upper level with a banister and rail. My suggestion is as it,s a project room some underfloor draws for storage.
Looks like another great success Tim. My only concern is for eye protection especially when doing the ceiling, just don’t ask me how I know… 🤞😎✅
I started spraying recently. I found that a paddle in my drill makes a bid difference when thinning the paint. Great vid as always!
Try Leyland Trade LeyTex paint instead of the Leyland Contract or No Nonsense stuff.
Way better in my opinion and fully breathable for new plaster.
Just need to water down 10% for the mist coat and then use as normal.
Thin down quite a bit for spraying with HVLP, less so with airless.
It rolls or sprays amazingly and as usual with the Leyland stuff, it goes on opaque but dries fully white. It’s also super flat so hides any missed imperfections in the plaster.
You can even have it tinted, so it’s actually useful on lime plastered solid walls that need to stay breathable.
@5:10 you could actually see the moisture being absorbed by the plaster. By the time you started the next pass the plaster had darkened from the pass prior. Just shows how fast the plaster will wick the water away and how important it is to add water to the paint
Hello, really enjoying the spraying videos, we have just bought the 350M, Have you got a video that shows some masking techniques? mainly what you use? whether you use the applicator or manual? thanks.
Just a little tip! If it’s a photo studio a light grey is a better option than white.
Spraying really does seem the way to go! Our local Crown Decorating centre is really going ‘big’ on their spray section.
Looks really good.
So, u just convinced me, it's taken u days to get the job done with so much mess !
I'll stick to the roller lol
Excellent video as always . I’m looking into buying a similar sprayer, but am interested to know if spraying rather rolling eliminates paint flashing.
If you find the Leyland too chalky or scuffs too easily - try a Vinyl paint, I am going down this route in our showroom.
Hi Tim, I am doing a full bungalow restoration and have the new plaster everywhere, if you were in my position, which of the paints would you recommend ? Will be getting an airless system because there is so much to do and so little time !
Hi there. Thanks for the video - I do enjoy them and they are spot on for me as a DIYer. I am very interested at section 4:49 of the video. The door is half way up the wall, does this go to your house from the hall. I am wanting to do something similar where I can get access to the brick garage to be able to use it as a utility room.
I'm buying a Wagner 250m this week for a large job I'm going onto. I've decided rather than hand paint skirting and frames that I'll spray them (save my knees) what water based satinwood would be best and best wearing plus advice on diluting and easability for cleaning sprayer afterwards. Thank you.
Great job Tim.
Easy than a roller or a paint brush👍
Think you need to use a tip with a wider fan...also pays to dry roll each coat. That said, all looking good
Looks great, another box ticked!
Have you cleaned the filter in the spray gun Handel. I always forget about that one. Makes a ton of difference.
once you finished flushed all the paint out with water do you add some kind of protection though the system if it going in storage for a while?
Great spray job, ive got a wagner 350 for fence spraying, what tip did you use for the emulsion?
I always use
super Matt 50/50 water when mist coating bare plaster and roll it on makes and bloody mess so the sprayer would be much cleaner 😆
Great job Tim 👏👌🏻👍
What top coat of paint did you use ? I've been advised not to use contract matt as a mist coat because the topcoat will suck in and peel?
If I was spraying a room would I have to completely cover the carpet with sheets so paint doesn't get on it?
Nothing like a new toy!
Hi what extension rod did you use, majority of the Amazon ones have poor reviews.
Hi Team, where did you get that extension for the nozzle? Have a Wagner sprayer too, the model below, and loved it. A 6m x 3.5m lounge done in a day including mist coat!!
Hi,
Did you ever have a problem with pressure on the gun ? I already added 20% water to paint and when painting it's fine for the first 1m or 1.5 and than machine start loosing pressure and pattern is getting narrow and on the pattern sides appears thick lines of paint.
Thanks for any advice.
Nice video mate, did not look as if you experienced any clogging with the gun...whats your dislikes about the sprayer? We appreciate your time
Almost 20minutes of watching paint dry lol 😝
You're most welcome!
roughly how much water did you add for the mist coat? or did you stick to approx 10% for every coat, thanks
Hi Tim, Good job; do you have both the 250 and 350M? Have you used either for doors? We are in the middle of a new build project and am considering getting one of the two mentioned above, but as we will also have skirting and 16 doors, just wondered if you had used either of these models with gloss and Osmo ( not at the same time!), obviously not with a 517 nozzle.
I've only used my graco for trim and doors. No reason you can't with the right tip however it would take over £100 worth of Osmo to prime the hose, a hopper version may be a better option. I just have the 250M.
@@TheRestorationCouple Thanks, sounds like it will be Osmo by brush and roller then!
Do you think you could spray like this with a gravity gun?
Nice.
You are one tough worker 👍
The next time, would you please consider proper eye protection in addition to the breathing apparatus? Love Mr. Carrot top. Door Restoration ⭐️
A quick question. How much do you thin that contract mat to get it to spray properly. Thanks.
It all depends on how thick the paint is start with a ltr and go from there.
What is it that Jo does? I should probably know by now 😁
As well as run the social media for TRC and manage me, she runs her own craft business. Fabrics, sewing, printing, etc. Will no doubt share more once the studio is done.

@@TheRestorationCouple I’m sure my wife would agree, children grow up, we husbands tends not too 😷😂
Really liked your flooring can I ask the name please and where you purchased it from ?
No idea I'm afraid! Just a budget vinyl from an online flooring site. Think it was £150 for the room.
When I buy anything on-line I pay by credit card, so save all the emails etc in an email file called (surprise) ‘Internet Purchases’…that way I can always find details of something I bought, for any occasion, be it a complaint, or passing on info to someone who liked (it?) and wanted details… I guess some people either don’t bother, or can’t be bothered…!
@@stun9771 - we are all different, some people achieve more than others
I usually try not to finish off on the floor.
NOOICE!
I’m about to use my Wagner 250 for the first time, is there any reason you aren’t using the gun filter? Plus are there any idiot guide steps I should be aware of?
The filters just cause problems take them off. and just filter the paint when your mixing it
Don't take the filters out at any point thin your paint down 1 and a half litres of water to 10ltrs of paint and strain your paint and take the suction tube off turn the unit upside down and put some piston lube in it and push the red button 5 times then turn back over let the excess oil run out and the pump will run all day long not stop once I have got a 250r I use it virtually every day
@@johnthemod71 then spin around 5 times clap your hands ...alot of work when you can just take the filters out. What country are you in and have you tried it with the filters off..
@@JONO3679 filters are there for a reason, wouldn't like to see your finished pebble dashed walls
I always strain my paint first and you will be surprised how many bits there are in the filters after completing job
How did it with your new Machine was the tip clogging up or was it all good...
I bought two different airless setups, well impressed with the atomisation but found all the cleaning up and set up too much of a faff, finish is tops though.
It literally takes 5 mins you must be doing it wrong
@@JONO3679 I think you're doing it wrong if you're prep and clean up is taking 5 minutes lol
@@superiorbeing95 im talking about cleaning out the machine for the next color...
@@JONO3679 Depends on what type of paint, type of sprayer, if you're filtering the paint, if you're in a confined space it's a right old faff.
Groovy man
Hope the plaster had fully dried 🤣🤣
Please if your painting ceilings put some glasses on.

For contract decorators spraying a domestic sized room is simply uneconomic. Spray painting comes into its own when there is industrial large spaces simply because of all the masking needed. In my experience only around 50% of the sprayed installations achieve the required results. Indeed, on a domestic project the painter who elected to spray a dining room ended up wasting vast amounts of time cleaning up all the overspray.
Some years ago a contractor was spraying a coating on the columns of a car dealership. Momentarily, the wind changed direction and blew the overspray out of the double doors, which landed on 123 cars in the parking area - used cars for sale, customer cars for service and staff cars. Only a few cars were successfully cleaned before the paint dried, the rest being 'T' Cut over the next few weeks. The contractor's insurers took a hammering that day!
Spray painting buildings might seem a good idea but a cold hard look at the realities of masking up and cleaning up against the time benefits needs to be carefully considered.
There's not much over spray with these sprayers if use correctly, as for masking up, if you have the proper tools, ie, hand masker and masking film for windows etc, it doesn't take any time at all. Ive been a decorator for 37 years and yes i mostly done it the conventional way but bigger jobs i use the spray, its 10 times quicker, better finish, it make a change and its fun.
@@chrispollard100 I don't doubt their quality/productivity but in my experience as an Architect of 40+ years it all comes down to the quality of masking up and unfortunately the tradesman abilities/care and aptitude today are woeful. Larger jobs will benefit from spraying but I have a anecdote that cost the builder's insurers £100,000s due to lack of care when spraying. The small domestic scale jobs have inevitably been a disaster due to rushed masking.
@@clivewilliams1406 ive been decorating for 37 years and i agree, standards have dropped massively, problem been they dont do a 6 year apprenticeship like we had to back in the day, apparently qualified in a couple of month's now, most of them dont even now how to hang wallpaper and as for all the new builds, its a case of wham bam.
Fortunately i still take in my work and sometimes get told iam too fussy. Spraying done probably can have excellent results
@@chrispollard100 It's good to meet an old school decorator that actually takes the occupation as a skilled trade. Too many are now reaching retirement age, which goes for most building tradesmen, leaving the dross. Also, too many so called decorators are guys who took a redundancy payment and set up a business because they decorated the lounge! The last one I had didn't even know what decorators caulk was!!!!!
A good decorator can make a bad job look good but a bad decorator can make a good job look bad - guess which applies all too often?
I tried my Wagner today, sometimes I got bubbles, it wasn't much but any reason why I got bubbles sometimes on the wall? do I need to thin the paint bit more? also how much water do you normally add to dulux supermatt 10 L
1 and half litres of water in 10ltr of paint is enough I have got wagner 250r and it's a great little spray unit
Also I would recommend that you strain the paint
15:00 you had your finger tightly infront of the nozzle exit while fitting the nozzle.
I hope you had the gun saftey locked and understand the risks of hydrolic injection.
Good stuff, but turn the music off.
Does this mean that you will soon have a "100%" complete room, rather than have it join your many "95%" projects?
Oooh could be...., well it's tempting to just leave a bit of skirting off so it doesn't look out of place with the rest of the house! 😂
are you ex forces ?
As slow as your moving I do not know how the paint is not running to the floor
Did the extension stick 🦯 come with it? ?
Do you think you could spray like this with a gravity gun?
You would be filling it up quite often!
