This is literally the song that made me want to start playing guitar. I saw it on cable tv when I was 9 and asked my parents to start taking guitar lessons. God bless that man and his green guitar.
I remember seeing it for the firs time on MTV right after it came out and IMMEDIATELY had to tape it so I could learn the main riff. Such a tasty, well crafted composition for an 18 (I think) year old kid. And Moon was a total hotty. Still have a crush on her lol
I remember Dweezil saying he liked big chords that you can build a house on. This song starts with one of those. Great song, great vocals, and awesome solo.
I remember when this came out, I thought Moon really had a future. But then she came out with that Valley Girl song, and I still can't even make it through the first verse. She is cute here though, I like her dancing.
Oh was it? Well, the point still stands lol. I looked it up, apparently Moon was only 14 when she did Valley Girl. I guess that makes it a little more forgivable. But I still can't handle listening to it, and I like Frank Zappa.
I had this album. Dweezil's guitar playing reminded me of EVH & I had a major crush on Moon. So many stars invthe video, too. Don Johnson, Jane Fonda, Charlie Sexton, Robert Wagner, Fran Zappa, and Daphne Zuniga
How awesome would it have been to be one of Frank's kids. Frank gave his children something more than any father could ever give. The gift of a Music "Career". Jealous? Absolutely!
This album debuted on August 22, 1986...so Dweezil would have been about 26 when he made this song...I saw this very catchy song right before I had to go to high school one morning...I've often felt that I was the only one who liked this song...by the way, the girl singing this song with Dweezil on guitar is his older sister, Moon, I believe. Dweezil was already a DJ / VJ on MTV when this song came out!!!!!! Dweezil is excellent on guitar!!!!!!
Granted he seemed pretty grown up, but Dweezil was about 16 & since Moon was 14 when Valley Girl was released in 1982, she’d be 18 here. Really like this song, wished they’d have collaborated more. Sound ace together
I was crazy about this song and video back then and I just re-discovered it......now I am playing it again over and over....what is it about this song?!
You can buy that green guitar right now. He’s selling his collection of gear. Pedals amps and guitars. I’d like to see who gets their hands on that green charvel .
Moon's vocal is unusually cool, great complement to Dweezil's mighty fine guitar work. There's just something about this song that get's it, no matter how many times I've heard it, the test of time.
I feel in love with Freak Out & Frank Zappa age 13. I would let side 4 play/repeat every night. That was then, I'm 67 now and now I spread the word telling and asking *check out this song* I sure do miss him his concerts but the entire Zappa family I love Deeply.
I don’t know why I always found it funny, but Frank Zappa taking the business section of the paper from Robert Wagner and reading it was great. As a little kid I got the feeling that Frank Zappa didn’t take himself too seriously. Maybe I was wrong.
Don Johnson And ROB Lowe And Jane Fonda And Robert Wagner And Dweezil Zappa playing his DAD Frank, just a little MTV trivia, and I thought IT was someone else from Motley!
Funny thing about this song, right now the cd isn't available, you can't even get it on download. I've never even seen a video of Dweezil doing this song live. Makes me wonder if he's ashamed of it or something. Or maybe it's wrapped up with his father's estate somehow?
These lyrics randomly popped into my mind today and I had to Google them to figure out what song they were from. I haven't thought about this song since the 80s. Why today? Nooo idea.
*There are GOOD SONG, GOOD VOCAL , GOOD GUITAR SOUND & GOOD GUITAR SOLO in this video!!!* *And FRANK, DON JOHNSON & CHARLIE SEXTON too!!! I love them all!!!* *[Related Video] DON JOHNSON - "Heartbeat" Dweezil is using same green guitar.* .com/watch?v=5CR4lSORZ_Q
Love this song but it looks like she’s singing off a TelePrompter lol They really need to re-shoot this. i’ll gladly do it for $90,000 Ian, please contact me
good question or Bob ? Bob should have pushed Jane Fonda off the boat not Natalie Wood its to get people to watch and its horrible the song is ok but the movie stars are a complete joke.
MY GOD... this makes me miss being as young as when this came out! Moon was SO HOT 🔥!
I always kinda liked the odd mix of Dweezil's hard rock/metal style and Moon's boho/alternative vibe. Both the sound and the look.
Cool video
Totally -PJ Soles 🎃
Time capsule from the spring of 1986: Today, Dweezil and Moon are both older than Frank (RIP), and almost as old as Wagner, were in this vid...
Dweezil will soon turn 50. Frank died at 52.
@@josephdesimone6599 Ok it's 2024, he's older now🙂
This track has been burned into my brain since forever. Classic.
It’ll occasionally get stuck in my head some days. Usually good days, those.
This is literally the song that made me want to start playing guitar. I saw it on cable tv when I was 9 and asked my parents to start taking guitar lessons. God bless that man and his green guitar.
That’s super cool! Hope you’re still rockin’! 🎸
I remember seeing it for the firs time on MTV right after it came out and IMMEDIATELY had to tape it so I could learn the main riff. Such a tasty, well crafted composition for an 18 (I think) year old kid. And Moon was a total hotty. Still have a crush on her lol
DWEEZIL IS INSANELY TALENTED...end of story
Look who's talking!
Might be genetic.
Taught by dad and Eddie
Not sure which is the sexiest out of Moon, that guitar solo, or Dweezil's hair.
Man, what a time to be alive......
That's not Moon
@@michaelfraser3724 That's a space station?
@@michaelfraser3724Yes, it is. Moon, Keith Moon's daughter, Zappa's adopted daughter.
You silly goose.
I remember Dweezil saying he liked big chords that you can build a house on. This song starts with one of those.
Great song, great vocals, and awesome solo.
My personal favorite guitar solo, the short slides, tappin, picking Amazing!
wow....maybe watch others do it? i dunno....your favorite? lol
@@davidwright873 sarcastic 100%, the others do it but not like him
It’s definitely up there for me. It’s such an awesome solo.
C/O '84. We all had a crush on Moon from '82 Valley Girl. I was glad to see her pop up on this video a few years later. What a cutie.
man she was a total cutie back in the day!
yup id say so.
I remember when this came out, I thought Moon really had a future. But then she came out with that Valley Girl song, and I still can't even make it through the first verse. She is cute here though, I like her dancing.
Bel Pack pretty sure Valley Girl came out first...
Oh was it? Well, the point still stands lol. I looked it up, apparently Moon was only 14 when she did Valley Girl. I guess that makes it a little more forgivable. But I still can't handle listening to it, and I like Frank Zappa.
@@belpack8989 Valley girl is aweesome
This song is so good.
I lol’d at Dweezil’s face at the beginning, and a few of the lyrics. Such a good song, and weirdly humorous too.
I love the whole song, but that solo is just pure bliss.
I had this album. Dweezil's guitar playing reminded me of EVH & I had a major crush on Moon. So many stars invthe video, too. Don Johnson, Jane Fonda, Charlie Sexton, Robert Wagner, Fran Zappa, and Daphne Zuniga
Is there anyone from the 80's that is NOT in this video? All the MTV crew, Matthey Perry, Daphne Zuniga, Robert Wagner, and Frank
awesome guitar playing! Love the 80s dudes!!!
Ahhhh, the 80's. Great music, awesome guitar solos, hair bands, headbanging, and teenage angst.
Ladies and gentlemen: The 80's at it's finest
There was finer than this though!
@@Scotty-P Good point, but uh you know what he meant.lol
Too musically talented
After listening to High Value Man by Ricky Bascom, I must say the sample flip is immaculate
Same, maybe the best sample flip I’ve heard
literally
Literally why I am here. This sample has been living rent free in my head since I first heard High Value Man about 24 hours ago
He is as talented to EVH.
I’ve just arrived thank you Ricky
Dweezil is just too bad ..this song and solo is just on point ..I've been listening ti this sing since I graduated high school in 88
I wish he'd reissue this album. At least make it available as a download. On Amazon, second hand copies of the CD are going for like 900 bucks!
This is straightforward rock the way I like it. Deserves more views.
How awesome would it have been to be one of Frank's kids. Frank gave his children something more than any father could ever give. The gift of a Music "Career". Jealous? Absolutely!
Don Johnson was a big fan of Frank Zappa. Frank zappa had appeared on Episode of Miami vice.
Dons wife, Melanie was a baby sitter for the Zappa family, that's where they met.
fuxkin love this album, brings back some sweet late 80’s memories
Moon, such a babe.

My bad...you're right...he would have only been 16, not 26...oops and unbelievable how good Dweezil was at 16!!!!!!!
john zipp or 15, maybe.
Yes, Moon is singing.
john zipp try 18
Granted he seemed pretty grown up, but Dweezil was about 16 & since Moon was 14 when Valley Girl was released in 1982, she’d be 18 here. Really like this song, wished they’d have collaborated more. Sound ace together
Between the friendly proper enunciation and the outfit, she's the most excellent kindergarten teacher around~
Oh yeah, she does look like a kindergarten teacher.
Very talented guitarist. Great singing.
Geez Moon is cute.
I was crazy about this song and video back then and I just re-discovered it......now I am playing it again over and over....what is it about this song?!
IT'S CATCHY AND MOON UNIT WAS HOT BACK THEN...
Moon's style is so ahead of her time.
You can buy that green guitar right now. He’s selling his collection of gear. Pedals amps and guitars. I’d like to see who gets their hands on that green charvel .
Dweezil is bad ass!
This song makes me so happy.
Honestly, the only reason I loved this video was for Dweezil. Great guitar playing skills. So underrated.
Dweezil was so talented and Moon was so cute
LOVE his tone
Moon's vocal is unusually cool, great complement to Dweezil's mighty fine guitar work. There's just something about this song that get's it, no matter how many times I've heard it, the test of time.
Fr. This rocks.
Wicked cute. She wudda been a perfect girlfriend in the late 70s, early 80s.
Moon was beautiful
I feel in love with Freak Out & Frank Zappa age 13. I would let side 4 play/repeat every night. That was then, I'm 67 now and now I spread the word telling and asking *check out this song* I sure do miss him his concerts but the entire Zappa family I love Deeply.
Moon was so cute back then. She still is come to think about it.
I Always Thought Moon Was Hot!
would ya?
Ummmmm, not so much now. Google Moon Unit Zappa
I don’t know why I always found it funny, but Frank Zappa taking the business section of the paper from Robert Wagner and reading it was great. As a little kid I got the feeling that Frank Zappa didn’t take himself too seriously. Maybe I was wrong.
Jesus f- Christ, Moon's vocals are more contagious than VD lol I love it
Dweezil has to have a great quality version of this video. I wish he would upload it on his own official RUclips channel. HD would be nice!
No HD back then!
Best Eddie Van Halen imitator of all time.
When Moon turns and looks at me, I get a chill.
NO--SHE'S LOOKING LOOKING AT ME SHE'S LOOKING AT ME...LOL!
I pitch a ⛺...
Speak for yourself. Im glad you get a "chill".
But i get a MASSIVE Erection....
I so wish this album was available somewhere!!! I had it in the late 80s but can't find it anywhere now.

Great melody!!
After all these years I just noticed! His neck is scalloped.
These lyrics randomly popped into my mind today and I had to Google them to figure out what song they were from. I haven't thought about this song since the 80s.
Why today? Nooo idea.
Holy crap I remember this so well
Dweezil's guitar style at this time sounded a lot like Vito Bratta.... or maybe Vito sounded like him? Either way, love em both!
I hear that too in his playing EVH / BRATTA
❤Talk to Ahmet,hey Happy Birthday ❤😂
Bad ass but man how the fuck Dweezil get that sound when his neon green guitar was never ever plugged in? hahahahahaha
Great damm guitar playing
She and Je lives for EVER

Also first name Bo last name Zo. The first few times I watched this I was thinking about clowns. Now I know why.
Frank Zappa the real genius behind the music video
Don Johnson, Robert Wagner Cameo's with dear ol' dad too!
And Jane Fonda making a sandwich
Charlie Sexton at the take
Daphne Zuniga measuring focal distance
Why isn't this song in Spotify?

that IS Daphne Zuniga at 2:33, right?
Moon Unit.
O
My bad.
Yes that is Daphne Zuniga.
James Cozad Moon is singing, Daphne is the one checking the lighting at the start of Dweezils solo
Trying to spot all the cameos in this - don Johnson, Frank himself... was that Markie Post making sandwiches?
Jane Fonda
Isn't that his sister singing?
Oh my.....lol
Wait--why is Robert Wagner in this music video???
Sounds like Geddy Lee!
who its the girl in leather make up dweezii ??
Got this on 45....sounds way better on a real stereo!.... Her voice on the 45 sounds way better the eq is off on youtube
Princess Vespa at 2:36!!!
Vince Neil holding the camera @ 3:25.
Was that a Charlie Sexton cameo?
Yeah that was. Beats So Lonely
17 years old he was
She displays an almost jarring flat affect when she's singing. Combined with the repetitive lyrics, it's oddly mesmerizing to watch
I found this video earlier today and came back to it. I agree.
It appears that nRobert Wagner, and the late Frank Zappa were sitting in chairs in front of Dweezil, and his sister Moon while they were performing.
Something tells me that Ed had some input on writing this.
How many people watching this are from L.A.? #818 #213
That video is so 1980s.
Donald and Frank.
*There are GOOD SONG, GOOD VOCAL , GOOD GUITAR SOUND & GOOD GUITAR SOLO in this video!!!*

These people are in their 60s or 70s now.
The rhythm underneath Dweezil's solo is frickin bass ass !!!
