Sad to learn that half the band has passed away but they can RIP knowing they were part of one of the greatest rock anthems of all time. The 1980’s never ceases to amaze me. Though I generally preferred bands like Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, and Depeche Mode I also loved the metal bands as well. That’s what was so great so many awesome tunes by different genres all played together. This song is such an underrated rock anthem that has stood the test of time and still rocks to this day. Why can’t we have music like this again? I agree life was so much more carefree, we had technology but we’re not controlled by technology like we are today.
Was a feral kid in the 80s. Metal anthems like this along with testosterone filled flicks like Predator filled the time I wasn’t on my YZ80. Didn’t realize it at the time but we were living in the best era for youth ever. The world grew up. What a shame

I played bass and sang this song about 10 years ago in a band I was in at the time. Our guitarist was a beast and he could shred this Steve Lynch solo perfectly. Our guitarist said the hardest part of the solo was getting those licks moving up the neck in the first half of the solo. The two finger shredding in the latter half of the solo was not as difficult. I could never hope to play like this! Steve Lynch won "solo of the year" in Guitar Player magazine for this song in 1986, I think. Dude was massively underrated against his more well-known contemporaries of the mid 1980s. Steve Lynch is right there with the best of the best. No question.
I think that band was called DECADES - we transitioned to new band name and a different direction around that time. We played rock songs from the 60s to the 90s. If you want to do this song justice, make sure the keyboardist nails the keyboard part. In my opinion, the keyboard part is the most important part of this song. The song is in D and the keys sequence is D - G - C - D during the verses and solo. During the chorus, the sequence is E - D - A - C - G - Esus - E. Post of video when your band plays it, would love to see it! @@a.d.ibarra9613
@@ajack1312 I remember doing a guitar workshop with him in 1989 , for westone guitars if I remember right. like you say just a very nice guy I was a young aspiring guitar player and he treated me like I was one of the band member just hanging out . Just a cool person .
My son is 10 years old and this has been his favorite song since he was 3 years old. We are sitting in front of the house listening to it now. He says the 80s was the best and how he wishes he could have been there with me. Proud dad moment yall.
If your son is ONLY 10 then you hardly "Grew up" in the 80s. You're definitely a Millenial or the latest Gen Xr. My sons are in their 20s and I was born in 1970. Doubt you even had a beer in the 80s dude!
The kids of today will NEVER, EVER know how good we had it back in the 80s. Where life was so carefree & easy, and the music was totally kickass!!! The best decade EVER!
Heroin has been around forever, Islamic terrorism are vestiges of the Reagan and Bush (1 & 2) Administrations via funding of different factions and wars started during their presidencies, and Zika is mostly an epidemic concerning Latin American countries.
510oaklandca Regardless.. Having grown up as a teen in the 80s, as compared to be in my 40s now, I'll take the 80s any day. At least I felt safer back then.
Thats a solo for EVH-stlye beginners. A style nobody uses anymore btw. It was fashion back then. Like the stupid clothes they wore, the posing, the overproduced choruses and the perms
Opinions are like assholes...Everybody's got one...If you grew up in the 80's, it was a fun time. Our music reflected that. It wasn't dark, sinister, depressing and angry for the most part. It was just a big party. People were happy and couldn't give two shits about what was going on in the rest of the world. We were just having a good time...SO DEAL WITH IT!!!
You were BORN in the 80's? Well then you know nothing about the 80's except what you have read. You didn't "live" in the 80's at all. You may have existed, but that's pretty much the extent of it... Your opinion is an opinion of ignorance and lack of knowledge. Tell me about the 90's and maybe your opinion will count, youngster. We had fun and you are jealous. Get over it...
No shit, was a child of the 70's, teenager of the 80's, that was the best fucking time. I realized a bit ago, I am so thankful for those times. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Glad to grow up during the best two decades. Had a blast, and would do it again!
Creepy to think three of these five fellas are dead now.. Where does life go.. Met Steve Lynch back in the day at a Guitar clinic.. He gave me a tab book how to play his stuff.. Loveliest young guy you could ever meet.
+Damon Fyrian Damn right! I work at a shipyard, and I do not go one single day without rock'n roll in my ears. And by rock'n roll, I mean this kinda rock'n roll. Makes the day so easy and fun!
Hammern28 This is actually more hair metal than rock'n roll, but that's irrelevant in the larger scheme of things. (Props to you if you get what the last half of that is a reference to.)
+Damon Fyrian Well, where I live, we refer to this as poodle rock more, but since rock'n roll is like the main genre, covering so many areas, I doubt that going into details is needed. We all know what is what:)
Hammern28 It's called hair metal for (probably) the same reason you call it poodle rock: the band's hair. That was a big thing in the 80s. (Warrant, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Autograph, Def Leppard... There are more I could list, but that's just a few.)
My dad used to love this song. Rest his soul. ❤️ I am so thankful to have gotten my taste in music from him. I remember when I was a kiddo in the late ‘90’s and he’d be blasting this song. Love it!
May your dad still blasting, rocking, shouting in heaven .... I lost my sister, sometimes I would like just to die to get her back. But I still rock on and on, I need the music, gimme somme more ... nobody really dies. They live always inside of us. Never surrender, dad is always there with you. Turn up the radio !!
+grandtheftauto219 - >implying artists today don't have just as much, if not way more talent than they did back then. Fuck, me playing so much rock and metal from this time period really hampered my growth as an artist, since every time I play a lead I end up in a pentatonic shape just like 90% of leads from this time period. Steel Panther is just as good as anything from the 80s, and they're a parody group. Look at modern prog - knowing theory and making use of uncommon tonalities and time signatures is more popular than ever. Shredders nowadays know more than a pentatonic scale -.-
***** your loss, idiot. If you weren't so fucking moronic and actually put in some effort to dig through and find some decent music, you'd know better.
I was just 6 when this came out but my big sister exposed me to all this music at the time. She's now on the streets somewhere, in and out of jail with schizophrenia. Not much I can do for her these days but wait for "that call". Still, I'll allways remember her teaching me to enjoy these bands.
I am 53 yrsold.i was taking my 4 yr old granddaughter to her mommas she was in her car seat when this song came on radio granddaughter had her head down and was shaking up n down at beginning of song.going along with rhythm.awesome.
On demand radio and streaming music is cool and all, but there was something special about waiting to hear your favorite song on the radio. It was like a present.
@@jasonengland2357 Boy, you guys aren't kidding! All those things combined made it hard to make a tape. But if you were able to do so, and if your song came on and you could hit the record button in time, it was so worth it. Good times.
And the weed back then knocked me on my butt. The stuff you find at dispensaries nowadays doesn't have the same kick to it. Either that or I have just killed too many brain cells and I am not effected as much anymore.
Really heartbroken to hear that we lost another Autograph band member Rest in Peace Randy Rand my thoughts and prayers go out to your family, friends, Fans , Bandmates and bands that are morning the loss of Randy Rand and all the members that have passed away . Randy Rand you are never forgotten , Keni Richards, Steven Isham. My heart is broken.

This highly underrated, underappreciated song peaked only at #29 in Spring 1985. It wasn't as much the fault of the band as much as it was the unbelievable talent that was producing music at this time. On March 16 ,1985 alone, the following acts had top 40 hits: Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Phil Collins (two songs), Madonna (two songs), Prince, Chicago, Kool and the Gang, the Commodores, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, (singles hits--not as members of the Eagles), Duran Duran, Mick Jagger (solo), David Lee Roth (solo), Tina Turner, the Cars, Journey, Wham, Foreigner, Bryan Adams, Sheena Easton, Hall and Oates, Diana Ross, New Edition, and David Bowie! Most of those are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When one thinks about the quality of competition Autograph was up against, it is a minor miracle they were able to chart at all.
😎🤟🎶80s rock was definitely special, however I gift you plenty current talent...Jack White & his several collabs: The White Stripes, Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, Brass Against, Temples, Dirty Honey, Greta Van Fleet, Rival Sons, Black Keys, YeahYeahYeahs, Deftones, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, System of A Down, Royal Blood, Gorillas, & decades long '00 bands Garbage, Stone Temple Pilots, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, female guitarists like Orianthi, Sophie Lloyd, Yvette Young, & Nita Strauss among others🎶🤟😎
Standing in front of the speaker stack at a high school dance belting this song out with my friend Tony. He passed away a few years ago from cancer. Every time I hear this song that memory comes to mind. God it was great being a teenager in the 80's.
Man i wish God would Miracle Me back in Time Again...sooo many things i would change, but just to live for 2 or 3 years back in the 80's again oh man i'd give anything :(
Hey Vinnie - change what you can today and let the past go...we all have our regrets, but life is too short to spend even a second on them....the Internet and RUclips take us back whenever we need it, so God's already on it. Take care and enjoy life
One of the 80s most under rated bands, they even needed sponsorship from papermate to finance this video. Those were great times with the best music, especially 80s metal.
This is one of the best solo's I've heard. It's creative, has lots of techniques and odd progression, but still goes really well with the song. It's pure genius in my opinion
Steve Lynch (not related with "Mighty George") is surely one of the most underrated guitar players of our time. And so is kinda the whole band. Their album "Loud and Clear" is - for me personally - a true milestone in the melodic Hard'n'Heavy genre ❤❤❤
Born in the 40's Loved music in the 60's and 80's. Daughter came home from high school with some classmates one day, and said Dad, there are all these great classic rock records we've GOT to get. (this was one of them) and I went over to the record cabinet, and pulled out every one on my daughter's list. Her friends caught their breaths and said, 'what else ya got?' and I introduced them to AC/DC and Queen (which they had somehow missed)...
I turned it up at my house the other night, and my neighbors liked this song so much, that they threw a rock through my window, so they could hear it better.
Okay, as a person born in the mid 90s, who obviously never experienced the 80s, I've got to thank Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for including this masterpiece on the soundtrack. A phenomenal game and an even more phenomenal song, especially that guitar solo.
True Story.. Was driving my daughter and her girlfriends home from softball practice, and this came on the radio, the girlfriends asked if I could change the channel, and my daughter said "no wait, dad turn it up" 😍😍😍😍😍🤘
Every time this song comes on the radio (shout out to Hair Nation on SiriusXM!) the running gag with my daughter is to jump up the volume by 2-3 notches every time they say "Turn up the radio!" She claims to not like the music, but tonight was earwormed with it long after we were out of the car. lol Hair bands rock!

George Lynch should have teamed up with this guy
Steve N George actually sounds like a badass band name
I took guitar lessons from him when I was 12-13 years old. He was a great teacher and a very nice man.
Pass on good tunes to the next gen, Bravo!

AIDS, the crack epidemic, the Reagan Administration ...

Heroin has been around forever, Islamic terrorism are vestiges of the Reagan and Bush (1 & 2) Administrations via funding of different factions and wars started during their presidencies, and Zika is mostly an epidemic concerning Latin American countries.

The most underrated guitar solo of all time.
not underrated for its time it actually got solo of the year for ‘84
as for the standing of time yes
Check out “Hammerhead” by this band
Says who and why did you believe it?
Thats a solo for EVH-stlye beginners. A style nobody uses anymore btw. It was fashion back then. Like the stupid clothes they wore, the posing, the overproduced choruses and the perms
@@UserUli stfu...it fits the song and is memorable, unlike the bullshit you spew. Steve Lynch was tapping before he even heard of EVH btw.

About 2 years behind you but bought the album on cassette!
We were just having a good time...SO DEAL WITH IT!!!
hell yea dude
You were BORN in the 80's? Well then you know nothing about the 80's except what you have read. You didn't "live" in the 80's at all. You may have existed, but that's pretty much the extent of it... Your opinion is an opinion of ignorance and lack of knowledge. Tell me about the 90's and maybe your opinion will count, youngster. We had fun and you are jealous. Get over it...
*****
No shit, was a child of the 70's, teenager of the 80's, that was the best fucking time. I realized a bit ago, I am so thankful for those times. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Glad to grow up during the best two decades. Had a blast, and would do it again!

"Day in, day out, all we know: Things are better with rock!"
Truer words were never spoken.
+Damon Fyrian Like, I know. I am a 78 model, so I grew up with the music. And I have albums from all those artists, and lots more, even vinyls.
You can't get more 80s than this.

Still one of my favorite all time rock songs. Simple lyrics, simple beat........ big anthem. Rock on!
