I hadn't listened to this song in a few years, now I'm sitting here, 59 years old, with tears rolling down both cheeks. Man, the music back then was real, I miss those times!!
My 53 year old son passed away two weeks ago and he loved metal music and played in a few rock bands. They played this song at his celebration of life.
I never knew how beautiful Mark Slaughter was, wow. I miss being young in the 80s and I miss my husband, who died of cancer. Makes me cry because the world now is insanity and long for more simple times.
In loving memory of Michael Robert Ackley (1973-1980), my little brother who drowned just after his 7th birthday at Fisherman's Wharf, Hampton, Virginia. I will always remember and cherish you, Mikey.
My 16 year old daughter flew to the angels this past Thursday night. Battled with cancer since July of last year. Chemo was to much for her. Fly high baby girl. This song is for her til I can be with her again. 💖
My mom had a pear shaped tumor in her and decided on chemo. I don't believe in it as radiation is poison & let her know about how I felt about it. The doctors didn't like the idea of cutting her open (she was 88 at the time but got around fine) so they suggested chemo. A month later she decided to go thru with it. She died eight days later. Sorry about your baby girl. We're not supposed to outlive our children. Hugsssss.
@@muffs55mercury61 I agree, kid's are not suppose to go before their parents. Their suppose to live a long life. Cancer has no mercy on anyone. Chemo is so harsh on the body. One of the chemos she did gave her a bad fungus infection in her lungs. My daughter wanted to get a job and she wanted to get her driver's license. She was determined to get those. She was a go getter. Sorry about your mom. Hugs to you!!
I lost my daughter on 22.2.22 in Scotland. She accidentally fell in to a river and was drowned.she was 37. I know she is happy with the angels singing and dancing in be paradise but I will never get to seer again. I miss her eternally. She loves this song❤
This song hit hard as a Marine deploying to the Persian Gulf in 1990 I used to sing it to my girlfriend thinking it could go south for me but I had angels watching over me and we got married when I came home and 32 years later we are still together .
Semper Fi Bro .What unit I was G2/8 when the orders came down I had one week left in the Corps when we started the build up for the Gulf got out in Feb 1990
I lost my gifted guitar playing son. This song I remember from way back when. As I deal with the grief in 2020 this song gives me comfort. Also, my boy had long natural curly hair too, so handsome and talented.
Mark Slaughter was asked about the origins of this song to which he stated: “That song was written about a girlfriend who I went to high school with. I remember I came back from touring and couldn’t get a hold of her. So I asked a friend and he told me he hadn’t seen her. The next thing I know, he calls me back with the news that she had passed away and the funeral was the next day. It was one of those surreal moments. I went to her funeral and it inspired me to write a song about letting go. There’s a real sense of composure in going through those life events that I’m always very conscious of in my music. Seeing what it does for other people is why I continue to write.”
Thank you for sharing that. My cousin/best friend was killed in 2016. I happened to remember way back in 1990 we wrote down the music we'd like played at our funeral someday. He put his in his wallet. I got in touch with his girlfriend and she checked. Sure enough his list was still in his wallet after all these years. This song was on the list. Thank goodness I was able to honor his wish. RIP Chad. I love you cousin.
That is why this song will always resonate with me and my life. My husband died in a horrible car accident shortly after this song came out. It has so much meaning to it. He was 27, I was 25.
It's funny that when we heard these songs long ago we loved the melodies but it isn't until decades letter we FEEL THE MEANINGS. Life was still in front of us. Now as life is mostly in the rearview mirror we feel the emotions of loss, pain, regret that we hadn't experienced yet. We listen with jaded ears today and that makes these songs so much more meaningful. Oh to be fresh and new and unspoiled again. We were young and invincible then. Today we listen and remember all of those people who touched our hearts that left us.
My uncle passed away tonight at the age of 62 after long illness. He was a recipient of double lung transplant and would've been his 7th anniversary next weekend. May he fly to the angels now. Love you, Uncle Ephrem!
Fly to the angels is a song I dedicate to my son who lived just ten days, and the love of my life Karla who passed away giving birth to him. I know that they both fly with the angels.
im going to go ahead and say what most people that have read your note have thought. what do i even say to try to console or pretend to relate to what you are experiencing? I got nothing. you have my prayers and my condolences.
Man I'm sorry to hear that it would be absolutely unbearable to lose one of my children before I go. All I can say is stay strong I know your son would want you to be strong and happy
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a mom sucks. My mom passed away 6 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't think of her. If I could get just one more day with her and tell her how much I love her and respect her. It doesn't get any easier as the days, yrs go by But I know she's flying with the angels ❤
I lost my only sister who was 11 months older than me to cardiac arrest 3 months ago... I miss the days we would jam out to this song as teens... fly high Angela #forever47
My wife Veronica passed last year at the young age of 45. She was the light of my life. She left behind a son, daughter and grand daughter. I know she is with the angels. I just listened to this song and tears just started to fall. I miss her so much that there are days I can not function. She was the best thing to ever happen to me besides my children and grand child. I love you Ronnie this song is for you. RIP my Love.
My wife died at 42. I feel your pain. She was my Soulmate. 8 years now and I am still lost..... and will probably remain lost forever.... My wife's favorite was Skid Row "I Remember You" But we will survive....Now you made me cry, lol... bitter sweat...
This song came on the radio right as I was starting my car up as I left the hospital right after my Mom died. I cried my eyes out then and I cry every time I hear it. Such a beautiful song….
I lost my first child, Hanna Jo,1995,she lived 12 days God bless her soul,I dedicated this song to her when I seen them play in Kalamazoo Michigan. With Kiss,And Winger
I wouldn't go quite that far but music and culture in general had more passion, that's for sure. Now the 70's that's a different story, love and fun all around, in music anyway. I listened to plenty of good metal that many considered angry at the time, such as Maiden, Megadeth etc. I still listen, but it was a different type of angry, an angry that would get your adrenaline pumping but not hating with negativity towards the world in general. I listen to today's music and overall it doesn't move me. I hear more sadness, despondency and a bit of whining than anything else. Some is okay but most is too boring or depressing for my tastes.
I went to see Slaughter at the Rock Carnival in NJ with my aunt who is dying. It was a blast. The band gave it 100% and the crowd was great. Mark got off stage and walked through about 1/3 of the whole crowd. He high fived damn near everyone including me and my aunt. It was the experience of a lifetime for her. To do what they do for so long is truly amazing. They are truly Rock Starz. Hats off guys. Thanks for making that night so amazing for us. God Bless.
My friend & I worked for Poison the summer Slaughter toured with them and Mark went through the crowd then too. That was cool. I'd seen them the night before at a club show because I had a dinner date with Blas. He got sick and had to cancel, so they let us hang out with them after their set the following day. (I'll treasure those pictures the rest of my life.) The coolest part was a couple weeks later: We were working there too and for some reason, I had to walk in front of the stage while Slaughter was performing and when Mark saw me, he gave me a big grin and a wave. That thrilled me to no end. ~LOL~
Born in 72...Had a friend that got Cancer died in about 6 months after she found out.Only 22 yrs.old.She dedicated this song to herself. She wanted to be remembered by this song.I still think of her when i hear this. She was beautiful.RIPAngela Badilla
Finally got up the courage to Watch this for my mom who passed away from lung cancer Aug 9 2023 still got to me at the end but this was one of her favorite song and bands.
Whenever I hear this song it makes me cry because I think about my first born who died shortly after his birth. I believe that he is in Heaven and that he is waiting for me and his younger brothers. He was born in 1980.😢❤
I lost both my parents in 2020 my dad was 62 and my mom was 60. They were born again Christians and ministers. They are with the Lord now I am 46 and will see them again! I miss them very much but they are living their best life right now!
So sorry for your double losses M.H.T. It's so sad that they didn't even make 'warranty'. (3 score & 10) To check out so close together makes me think it was a hot clot shots, am I right? If I am, it might do your heart good to know that the Satanic makers and purveyors of that venomous poison will someday be getting judged and then tossed into the lake of fire. And with a little bit of luck, and God's good will, YOU might be their judge! That's right. If you're a knowledgeable Christian yourself, you know that Paul the apostle, in 1 Corinthians 6:3 said, Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? Something to look forward to, yes? Fast forward to the 10-minute mark of this, and believe what Dr. Bryan Ardis shows you was and is in the jab. Trust me, you WiLL believe. And then you'll be reaching for your rifle and going, 'lock & load'! www.brighteon.com/88c3bde5-47e6-4ce4-9760-f8e2a899da82 You're welcome.
Just saw Slaughter in concert this past weekend, they played at a casino near me. They were just as incredible as they were back then. They sounded amazing! Lots of energy, it was just what I needed. Still good looking as ever too! Glad they are still playing❤
I love Slaughter and especially this song ..i lost my brother that was very special to me. He was born with Cerebral Palsy was suppose to only live to be in his early teens . well he lived 51 years and we took him everywhere we went weather we had to push him in his wheelchair or carry him it didn't matter we got where we always wAnted to go and he loved music and we took him to a slaughter concert We had a great time and he always talked about getting to see Slaughter in concert. Thank you ! We love you and My Brother adored you and YOYR music thank you for making him smile and happy memories you cherished. I miss him BUT I KNOW HE IS FLYING WITH THE ANGELS.
This beautiful ballad reminds me of my amazing daughter Madison Shaye she passed away March 22nd this year and took a piece of my ❤ with her. I love you Maddy
Lost my sister in law to brain cancer a week ago, this songs helps the mourning process a little. Beautiful song for a beautiful person. Fly to the angels Dodie, you will be forever missed.
This is song is for the most precious of Angels and all like her❤ just 71/2 months old. This is her song from a mamas broken heart but always look to the flowers that bloom in her name to shed tears and remember her with a smile . Thank you for this gift ❤
My fiancee was born in 74 and said that the 70's & 80's long hair rock bands will always be a big time part of him. He also said that they will always live deep in his heart , because he was raised up in that era. He wants for everyone to remember the 70's & 80's for the greatest music of all times, just keep on rocking to them. Long live the long hair rock bands "Rock On" !!!!!
I was born in 74 and I agree about the music we listened to, modern then and even earlier heavy metal. All im glad for is that all my 20 something children and their friends listen to this music too. Not the stuff they pass off as talent today.
28 years ago, this month, I lost my 37 year old sister who left three children behind. She drank herself to death because of how my parents treated her, and her husband was beating her up regularly. She was in Florida. I was in Colorado and she was not telling me the facts. Probably because I would have killed that MF. Because of this death and me finding out the facts. I started treating my wife like shit. Idiot. It wasn't her fault. I got sober 27 years ago this month. Losing your parents, sister and your wife because of alcohol, makes you reconsider your own life. If you want. We can talk about this, in the future. I am sorry for your loss. December of 22. My only son. who was 42. Overdosed on heroin laced with fentanyl. A huge amount of loss but I'm still a good person. Question God. I hate our f###ing government but, I have faith that things WILL get better
This song is for my husband Jerry that passed away at a young age on June 29th 2021, and for my baby James that was stillborn. RIP Jerry my husband, and my son James. Fly high like a Angel. ❤
I have the Fly to the Angels tattooed on my arm as part of the memorial tattoo I got after my love passed 10 years ago today...I played this song at his funeral too...Thanks for helping me get thru the incredibly painful loss of an amazing man ❤️
I lost my first love in 1990. Found her after her suicide. This song was playing on repeat on her stereo system. After so many years, it still brings a lump to my throat.
As a kid, I remember going to Tim Kelly's funeral (guitarist). These folks were a childhood friend of mine. My step father was Tim's best friend. I didn't appreciate or understand their music until later in life. I know you're with the angels, Tim.
It blows my mind that there were so many great voices in the 80,I have been singing for a life time, and I can,but to be able to put it to original music at 35 blows my mind ❤️💯🤘🏻
Sweet jesus!!!! 30 yrs later, and it still stirs my soul!!! Gives today's jams a run for the money! Party's after the football games,,,getting together with buds,,,,damn these jams bring back memories!!!
Nothing compares to the bands in the 80s n 90s when there were real musicians and songwriters with no over dubbing. Long live real rock n roll forever!
zane moore dude why so rude? Every decade has kickass music. It’s just what the music means to each person. My adult kids love my “ old people” music too LOL and they’re probably older than you. Lighten up. You must like it or you wouldn’t have clicked to listen? Ya?
I’m just here overwhelmed by all of the devastation and lives lost due to Helene and Milton. I play this song as my tribute to everyone who has crossed over. I pray that their loved ones who are left behind will find consolation and that the pain of their loss be lifted. God bless.🌸🌿🦋
My wife passed away last night always loved this song She wanted it played. Here you go baby. Anyone who has a comment about me listen to this song and typing. Sorry Miss you baby girl
Except that this song came out in 1990. lol Slaughter, Steelheart, and Skid Row were all bands that came out at the back end of the hair metal era of the 1980's, just as the Seattle Grunge movement was just beginning.
'73 myself, small town Friday nights, football games and party after never knowing where your going to wake up the next day or who you will wake up next to.
44excalibur true but Skid Row formed in 1986 less than a year from when G'n'R formed. But your right only 1 album was released before 1990. And till then they were really just a opening band.
***** Yep. And Slaughter formed before 1990, but they didn't release their first album until 1990. Those bands just arrived on the scene too late. But if you look at music now, it's as if the grunge scene never happened.
Funny. I just lost all my head banging hair. Serious. Took me forever to get a proper stylist, I looked like Gene Simmons in drag. I told her to wait on the drinking till after. I'm crying and now I resemble Alice Cooper...lol
I remember watching this on MTV just about everyday in the summer of 1990. I Still one of the best songs ever made. I was crushing hard on Mark Slaughter that year! ❤
Oh god. Take me back to my teens! What a time. And I'm not even 40. But I met the right people who introduced to me to the right music. Best days ever!
To my wife for 33 years this was my song to our daughter now you and now you have passed you left me on April 4th 2022 the day my world stopped spinning you was my heart my soul my everything when we met March 26th 1989 that was the day i was completed we became one ...i am so lost without you one day my time will come and i will search the universe for you (I Love You Kim) until then ....{I'll will never let you go} to whomever reads this if you have someone special in your life HOLD THEM, LOVE THEM, LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW BECAUSE THERE MAY NOT BE A TOMORROW ....Friday April , 15th 2022 @3:35 pm
I lost my wife , my high school sweetheart , my world , 28 Sept 2023 to COVID . 46 years and 41 years of marriage. Two become one and no I'm half a man , half a soul trying to live a half life. It's a wound that won't heal. Bleeding that doesn't stop.and pain that won't go away. Just waiting to go home to her myself. Home was always where she was. Still is.
I'm damn sure gonna hold on to my fiance Cyndi. I know what it's like to lose somebody I love. Both my parents passed away a few years ago. You're in my prayers, brother 🙏.
This song is dedicated to my mom , my brother, and my dog Bailey who I just lost a week a ago .my mom passed from dementia in 2019 and my brother passed in 2011 . I miss them all so much and I know they all flew to the angles. They will always b3 missed and loved😢
I was born in '73, so I grew up in the 80's. I sure do miss the music. Today's music is nothing but crap. Wish I could go back to this decade. My Mother also passed in the 80's...'86 to be exact. This song constantly reminds me of her. Miss you Mom.
Born October 73. I totally agree. I can remember where I was who I was with or whatever when I first heard these songs. It takes you back. Night n day compared to today’s. Lost my dad august 2003 to cancer. Happy memories
Reading the comments brought me to tears... I'm grateful I don't have painful memories associated to this song. Sending healing vibes to all who lost someone. 😞🤘🏻🖤💖
I'm gonna be 35 this year and the memories of Dad leaving when I was 7 still fuck with me to this day. Just like the song i would sit on the porch waiting and waiting for him to come by and visit, he always had a surprise for me and my brother but that surprise never came, and neither did he
My father unexpectedly passed at 60 a couple weeks ago. I’m 36 and we grew up with Slaughter, Queensryche, GnR, Motley Crue, Alice In Chains, etc. Music was my dad’s life. This was one of the songs we played as we pulled life support…. Rest In Peace, Dad.
This is when raw talent got you noticed. No auto tune or tricks to make you sound good. Raw talent and hard work, no Spotify or social media. You had to get out there. Love this era
My stepmother gave me this album the first time I met her. I always enjoyed this song but in the 5 years and 8 months now since my wife passed away, this song took on a whole new life for me, it's helped me thru a lot of hard times.
I was born in 78' so I was young when this came out but my friends brother got me and all my friends into all of this music. It's the best, and I love it!!
Sorry for your loss. I totally understand since I lost my daughter as well, four and a half months ago. I think of her as I listen to this beautiful song. Sending much love and blessings your way. 🙏❤

So sorry to hear about baby girl. She's definitely flying high with the angels!

The good ol days when music and songs had meaning and a story behind it. These guys put there heart and soul in the music. Very talented musicians.
Thank you for sharing that. My cousin/best friend was killed in 2016. I happened to remember way back in 1990 we wrote down the music we'd like played at our funeral someday. My goodness, this song came out when I was 19. I'm now 52 and this video still makes my heart skip a beat.

Now as life is mostly in the rearview mirror we feel the emotions of loss, pain, regret that we hadn't experienced yet. My mother just passed away this evening, and this is the first song that crossed my mind. May she now fly to the angels.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a mom sucks. My mom passed away 6 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't think of her. If I could get just one more day with her and tell her how much I love her and respect her. It doesn't get any easier as the days, yrs go by

I just listened to this song and tears just started to fall. I miss her so much that there are days I can not function. Ever notice that back in the 80's to mid 90's there was no hate in the music. Much better times than what we have now .
Good point.
Sad.. they don't make real music anymore
You could say that. Maybe.
Unless it was Slayer, Black Flagg........ Derp!
My 17 year old son passed in late 2021. I haven't heard this song since since I was in college.

God Bless.
wish I could have seen this band
+BELINDA PiTTMAN I am going to see them on New Years Eve! For free! They are playing at the local Native American casino, here in Flagstaff AZ.
hi
My friend & I worked for Poison the summer Slaughter toured with them and Mark went through the crowd then too. That was cool. I'd seen them the night before at a club show because I had a dinner date with Blas. He got sick and had to cancel, so they let us hang out with them after their set the following day. (I'll treasure those pictures the rest of my life.)
The coolest part was a couple weeks later: We were working there too and for some reason, I had to walk in front of the stage while Slaughter was performing and when Mark saw me, he gave me a big grin and a wave. That thrilled me to no end. ~LOL~
+Rick Flores dude im from bullhead city crap if i knew they were playing there i would have been there definitly

And then you'll be reaching for your rifle and going, 'lock & load'! www.brighteon.com/88c3bde5-47e6-4ce4-9760-f8e2a899da82

He also said that they will always live deep in his heart , because he was raised up in that era. He wants for everyone to remember the 70's & 80's for the greatest music of all times, just keep on rocking to them. Long live the long hair rock bands "Rock On" !!!!!

YES! Great music times! From the late sixties through the eighties, I believe we got some of the best music ever!

I hate our f###ing government but, I have faith that things WILL get better

born in '72 I was a teenager when this was popular. The 80s were freakin awesome!
That's when all of the members of green gay
I mean Green Day was born.
This song just takes me back to a simpler time in the world. I miss those days . U guys are all angels 👼
It’s okay to be an angel but I don’t want to fly with them just yet

Oh god. Take me back to my teens! What a time. And I'm not even 40. But I met the right people who introduced to me to the right music. Best days ever!
Slaughter hit the scene at the tail end of the Hair Band era. But man, they left their mark.
Now I see how many bands from the same era as other famous ones did not have the recognition they deserved
But they were in vinny vin cent invasion mark and dana had more in 80s than people realize
Made more if tom kelly didnt die rip
Yes they did 🤘♥️
