Wow, what a treat. Dame Patricia's vocals are sublime, though of course she was classically trained in opera. So many only think of her as Mrs. Hyacinth Booo-kayyyy, or Bucket. She is a real star.
I love this beautiful song! It was performed exquisitely by Dame Patricia Routledge, Colm Wilkinson, Helen Shapiro and Benjamin Luxon. Thank you for posting and sharing this terrific performance of this beautiful song from My Fair Lady!
Patrica Routledge is amazing. Her voice wasn't utilized enough. There is very little on RUclips that she's performed. In America Julie London had the same kind of career. An incredible voice but no one to promote it enough.
Yes I agree with you it is a shame. Patricia Routledge has appeared in many musical shows, but while she has always had success the shows haven't unfortunately. There are many cases of very good artists just looking for a big hit musical I guess. She has sung in the London West End, on Broadway and also the Joseph Papp production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. There has always been music in her career, but she made the decision herself not to pursue a classical singing career. She had already studied English literature and drama for 4 years at University and has said that she didn't want to add extra years of singing training, but preferred to focus on acting. Other famous musicals she has taken part in are Carousel ( Cousin Nettie Fowler - National Theatre production) And Bernstein's Candide ( as the Old Lady.) Perhaps recordings of those exist?
Routledge is one of those few who excel at nearly everything they put their mind to. I so agree that at least a brief career in the opera would have been brilliant.
What a wonderful version of The iconic song " I could have danced all night" from the iconic movie and show "My Fair Lady" one of my favourite songs of all time and will always stand the test of time, these leading artists giving such OUTSTANDING strong performances giving such a great tribute to Mr Alan J. Lerner, and Mr Frederick Loewe, their great voices just blend together, bravo,
Patricia's voice is exquisite. She was a marvel as the Bucket woman but i think her talent as a singer surpasses it and most other singers tbh. So powerful but not forced. Beautiful.
Anything with Dame Patricia Routledge gets thumbs up from me. Supremely gifted,,, An entertainer's entertainer.
Same
I’m astounded! I never realized Mrs. Bucket could sing so magnificently. A bucketful of talent.
What a lovely voice reminding us of the beauty of Music 🎶
Pat has a VERY powerful voice. She's a mezzo soprano i believe. And she has excellent diction when she sings.

Dame Patricia...BRAVO!! What a massive talent! Mrs Bucket....errr, Bouqet can sing!
I love her show Keeping Up With Appearances! Her singing is spectacular!
Magnificent voice. I didn't realise she could sing as well as this.

I adore Patricia

Tenortalker
Thank you for this information.
The tv production is excellent. I wish the show was included here....so we could see the all of her performance instead of just this snippet.
The women certainly outdo the men in this version - both Helen and Patricia are superb.
Is that our Hyacinth? ❤❤❤

Mrs. Bookay fantastic voice, who knew she could sing like that. Great performance
As a big fan of Seinfeld and Keeping up appearances, this is awesome.
Colm C Wilkinson in the 80's as Judas was --in a word----Phenomenal !!!!
Two of my favourite ladies.
Lovely listening :)
Richard would have been so proud, and Emmet must be flabbergasted.
And of course her beloved Sheridan !
@@brianwilliams3438 - that's right. Mustn't forget Sheridan!
Patricia Routledge can't help being funny, singing over his shoulder, 2:13.
Shes fab
Love it, especially Patricia Cornwall.
bella246able you mean patricia routledge

Fantastic!,,,,
Shows what a versatile voice Helen Shapiro has !
Omg this is fantastic.👏👏👏👏
btw, it is npot the competition between performers
The ladies have it!
Awesome!
Patricia and Helen. Names do matter
wow...
The ladies clearly in a league of their own. Sorry guys.
Hetty Wainthropp has come a long way from solving poison pen letters, arsonists and abducted bird watchers
Gosh, the others are professional singers, yet Pat's voice sounds best.
Patricia Routledge is a professional singer as well. She performed in West End and Broadway.
In these days of sex equality, why still put the ladies names first in the title ? There's still a long way to go, obviously.
Who is the bloke? He can’t sing at all, just a normal voice.
Colm wilkinson is dreadful
It’s very jarring to hear someone sing an American ‘a’ in the word ‘dance’ from a song in a musical that’s all about ‘correct’ English pronunciation!
