Dame Patricia Routledge is a trained mezzo soprano and here she showed her vocal talent and versatility in a funny satire Only a real singer can do it and she did it very well.
She's wonderful! Too sad that a lot of people, especially in the UK don't realise that there's so much more to her than Keeping Up Appearances (though I do love that show). She was 61 when it first aired, but a lot of people forget what she'd accomplished. A Tony Award for a start!
As soon as I heard Patricia Routledge 'supposedly" singing badly as Hyacinth Bucket I knew she was a great singer in reality You can always tell in cases like this. Their real singing voice always shows through no matter how they try to mask it" ❤️😉
God - how I love her. To have had such a stunning voice - and to have used it for comedy - just knocks me out. Her 1965 recording of "Climb Every Mountain" is the best version of that song I've ever heard. It just soars. In all her interviews and appearances - she is so gracious (but still very funny) - she truly is a national living treasure, and should be protected at all costs. 💖
You have to be a VERY VERY VERY GOOD actress to do AND comedy AND sing badly on purpose at the same time... She's just marvelous... a lot of people seem to forget she's won Tonys and Baftas and all kinds of prestigious awards a stage-actress can possibly win and has been around since the 1950's...

I adore this woman. She knows what's funny and how to be funny. She's almost like a British Lucille Ball.
Coffee in 10 minutes, Elizabeth! And bring Emmett with you!
Better than any of the Hollywood actresses. Dame Patricia is amazing and very humble. No one in Hollywood could ever be as good as this amazing woman.
Sad the pianist doesn't get a credit. He played his part brilliantly.

She has an amazing range. Very underrated actress.
Emmett should really reconsider casting her in The Boyfriend.
I'd skip a candleight supper for this. Brava Patricia Routledge!
"The bucket woman! " lol love her
Mrs. Bucket deserves a bouquet!

"She'll SING at me!!! ^-^; "

Absolutely love Dame Patricia.
I adore Patricia Routledge! Absolutely brilliant!
Grande Dame, great singer, great actress, great comedian.
It's very rare to find a comedian that can sing that well.
