I think the elastic waist denims are fabulous! When they came out initially, they were Jleggings", but these days they are made into all width legs, so they are still on trend! I wear most tops over the jeans fly anyway, so nobody is the wiser! 😉
I'm 61 and have just lost 45lbs. I just bought my first pair of skinny jeans. I'm typically years out of style anyway. The look is fabulous and I'm gonna keep on wearing them! ❤
I’m wearing my skinny jeans right now that I got from banana republic recently. They are still sold at all of the top retailers and I am wearing them and will continue to do so. So comfy.
I love your channel! I followed some of your business casual suggestions and chose similar clothing. I needed an outfit for a rehearsal dinner that was business casual. I got so many compliments on my outfit. I was told " wow Grandma you are stylish ". It made me feel wonderful for being 80 years old! I wore a blazer, a white cotton blouse with a nice collar under a nice top. I chose a nice pendant type necklace and a nice pair of jeans and new loafers! I wanted to thank you so much for your ideas. I am probably older than most if your viewers, but I am young at heart and felt so good.
Plus, all the items were either from J Crew, Target, Walmart and DSW..My purse was from WM for $18... One lady said, " I like your purse. It looks like. Gucci, but I know it's not". Ha... I just said " thank you.".
And my 21 and 24 year old daughters are wearing boot cut leggings and high waisted straight or wide leg jeans. I literally donated my boot cut leggings I held onto for years about 2 years ago. I was so annoyed they came back. I bought new bootcut yogas for $14.99 at Costco! Lol. My girls loved them
All jeans are in style...in my opinion. I've seen so many skinny jeans at Costco and Sam's. They are selling thousands of them! They're more popular in the winter to pair with a long sweater. I completely agree with you. What most women don’t understand is even though they still wear those skinny jeans it does not look modern. I don’t have a neutral cream pair of pumps because I never wear those type of shoes but I have a current cream pair of block heeled sandals, that I wear.😊love your videos ❤🇺🇸I am 68 and want to always look modern… I update my classics with modern accessories.
My favorite look from today’s post is the slim leg jeans with the blazer. That look should never go out of style. It’s so classy! I live in two styles of pull on jeans. One style looks better with sneakers and loafers and the other style looks better with booties. One of my favorite things about fall is being able to wear jackets, cardigans and other layering pieces. I have widened my wardrobe a bit by getting a pair of boot cut jeans. I haven’t warmed up to flare leg jeans yet and the wide leg jeans are way outside of my comfort zone.
@@StylewithSerena straight leg. Maybe a baby flare or boot cut here and there. I have never been really comfortable in the tight from hip to ankle look, even with tall boots, although I have admired that look on younger, slimmer women in the past. I just couldn’t pull it off then and certainly can’t pull it off now.
I have some skinny jeans. I’m tall and still have nice legs. I think that’s why I bought them. However, I’m not completely sold on them. First off, they’re a pain to yank off your feet. You better have the right shoe on, because the shoes will be essential when wearing these. I totally agree. I also agree with not wearing the tight tops with these. I always wear an oversized top that’s covering up the waist. Great advice!
Yes, I hate "peeling" skinny jeans off! And I get tired of the sausage casing feel around my calves. I like the "slim" jeans like these Gal ones that give a bit more breathing room.
And you’re right skinny jeans are a heated topic , but I wear what looks good on me , skinny , straight , bootcut .it all depends on the complete look 😊
As you stated skinny jeans still have a place in our wardrobes. They look great with looser tops, longer sweaters, and tunics. I also tried a pair of the slim leg jeans and love them. I like a wider leg with tops that are a bit more fitted. It’s nice to have a variety to choose from, keeps fashion fun! Thanks for the great video.
hi Serena, I love love love your channel. I have always been a skinny Jean girl. I have a little bit larger waist and thin legs I’m 5‘,4“ tall. I ordered four pairs of seven for mankind jeans one skinny ones straight, one boot, one flare on my body type. My favorite were still the skinny and the straight. I just wanted to share that with your audience. As another opinion about skinny jeans. Thank you for everything that you do.
I love skinny jeans! I wear them with certain shoes and outfits. It just depends on the shirt, shoes, etc. Sometimes I prefer a slightly wider leg. I agree with your do & don'ts on skinny jeans.
I can’t wear skinny jeans since I have muscular thighs and calfs and a straight leg looks much better. I have been wearing the Chico’s Girlfriend jeans for years and they are more of the slim leg look that you’re showing. I really like all the looks you created with the slim jeans and you look great in them! Thanks for the helpful tips!
I love my skinny jeans I believe like you said it depends on how you wear them. I'm 70 so I do have several that are stretchy and wear long tops or sweaters I get complements always!
Loved your video on skinny jeans! I just bought a pair to wear with my boots tucked inside. My other favorite pair of jeans are the straight leg ones. I wore flares back in the 70’s in high school and college. All of your tips are wonderful and very helpful. RTR!!
I love your videos, but I do wear jeggings when it's raining, tucked into my mushroom colored Bass boots. I live in the NE part of the country and we get many chilli rainy days when nothing else will do. Loving your tips!
In, out, - who makes these rules (obviously the manufacturers)? Ballet flats are classics, but every year someone says they're either in or out. They may not be the look that everyone is showing, but that doesn't mean they're out. Same with the skinny jeans - I'm still seeing them in the stores but they're being styled in different ways. I'm not a fan of the wide leg or boot cut jeans, but a slim straight is a good alternative if you don't want to be overwhelmed by the fabric.
I see more women wearing skinny jeans then not. Most walk in stores have more tables of skinny jeans then not. Mostly teenagers wearing the sides and over sized crap
Because the teenagers & young ladies are the ones ON TREND!!! Stores have piles of skinny jeans on tables bc they have excess to sell and people still want them. The term "skinny" jeans sends a subliminal message that "if I wear these I'll look skinny", and women bought it. Meanwhile the retailers can use less materials to make the jeans and sell Them for the same price as other jeans. No wonder they still make them!
Nope, always need them for winter under boots. I will always keep them no matter what. I am the gal who always had straight and boot cut when they were out though so there is that. I have always had all types as I find them each great for different😊 things.
Okay so you said distressing should be minimal. How does this relate to raw hem? I think raw hem is still everywhere, am I wrong? Is it on its way out too?
I never bought but a couple of pairs of skinny jeans. My legs are short, so they just didn't look that great on me. And I was heavier than I am now, so there's that lol. Loved the look with the blazer. I am really into blazers this year. Thanks for all you do. I imagine you will get some flack about this topic lol. Take care!
Boy, you sure were right when you said this was a lightning rod topic! 😅 Personally, I think skinny jeans make most women (except very thin ones) look like an ice cream cone!🍦
Skinny jeans are definitely not out. They are classic. In fact, for those who love jeans, and I do, it is a great time as you can wear pretty much any fit and be in style. During the week I will wear bootcut, flares and wide legs to work as I feel they look a little dressier and pair well with my heels, wedges, or boots. But, while at times I will wear my skinnies with a nice long cardigan or blazer it is on the weekends that my skinnies shine. I disagree with you in regards to comfort. My most comfortable and most flattering jeans are my Kut from the Kloth skinnies and I pair them on the weekends with a cozy oversized cashmere or cotton sweater and my heeled ankle boots, chelsea lug boots, loafers, or knee high boots. When I want to look my slimmest I turn to those skinny jeans. The only style I can't wear is a straight leg. I've probably tried on 50 pairs just because the fashion industry decided to tell people they were on trend to make more money. They make me look frumpy and heavier than I am--and I'm not alone. I watch a ton of unboxings and fashion videos and when women try on a pair of straight legs back to back with a pair of skinnies, they lose 10 pounds when they put the skinnies on. So, I figured why force it? Why wear something that is uncomfortable and unflattering on me? I will stick with my skinnies, my bootcuts--and baby bootcuts--my flares and my wide legs.
Kut from the Kloth jeans are full of stretch, that's why they're so comfortable and also why everyone can size down in them. They're basically jeggings with a zipper.
I’m not a skinny jeans fan. I find them hot and claustrophobic. But I will check out the slim cut jeans. Right now i’m enjoying boot cut. I am curious about wide legs and what kinds of shoes do you wear with those.
Hey Serena. I just watched your latest video on my tv on you tube about how you do your hair. Now I’m on my phone & can’t find that on my phone. I remember the products u used. I’m definitely going to go even shorter with my hair cut next month. I want kind of your style only a tad longer @ the nap of the neck & on the sides. Your hair looks great on you. My face is a little round so hoping all will be good. Regardless I’ve been following Rochelle & Daniel on you tube there channel is Godiva secret wigs & they make them for convenience. There wash & wear & made out of great fiber. They’re also weigh like a few ounces for the short ones. Also you wash & hang to dry & they dry back in the style you buy it in. No heat needed. Anyway my point is that I’m going to order me one that comes a little past my shoulders. I think the wig I’m talking about is the thin Candice in a beautiful red with roots. I think there wigs start out about 200$. I’m going to wear it in the fall & winter & if these wigs are as good as they claim & im 99% sure they are I will be ordering more. Thank God I still have my hair. It I want a change. I’m kind of like you I’m always wanting to change my hair up. I’m a natural red head but have to color red bc of the grey coming in & reds fade so bad. I think I will be saving money in the long run. I’ve a great hair stylist & I will still go to keep my hair trimmed up & maybe color but might let it go grey & that wig will come in handy for that. There wigs are so natural looking & they put holes in the cap. I’m pretty excited about that. Sorry I went into a novel. I really love your hair & I can tell your hair texture is great & that you also have a great stylist. You look great in long & short hair. My stylist is about 46 & she has been doing my hair for 20 years. She’s up to date on all of the new cuts. Serena you inspired me to get my hair shorter. Have a wonderful blessed day. I wonder if Sally’s cares the redkin root lift. Thanks for sharing I really enjoy your videos they are so helpful. Melba Knoxville Tennessee 🦋🦋🦋.
I am hippy with generous thighs. Skinny jeans look awful on me. I have never wore them and I am so glad they are no longer in style. It was really difficult for many years for me to find jeans. I usually had to go to thrift stores for my straight leg or bootcut jeans.
Skinny jeans were on the way out before the pandemic. It just took awhile for fashion to pick back up after the super casual stay-at-home athleisure. Everything was stuck for about 1-1.5 years. But, I was looking for flare style trouser jeans in 2019 and mostly had straight leg instead of skinny from then on until the wider styles finally became more available. Skinnies will come back in style at some point. But, I feel like it has been 10 years of skinny styles and leggings and I am ready for something different. Also not doing the taller boots with jeans/pants for now and instead pairing them with skirts or dresses.
Bootcut is the most flattering on the most body types. The flare at the bottom gives curves to people like me who have straight hips. And they help balance out more pear-shaped figures.
the last pair of jeans I bought are from 2019. Baby pink skinny jeans, i still have some old jeans, skinny, relaxed, straight and bootcut. But I dont plan to buy new ones, there are better, more elegant and comfortable pants. I honestly think jeans are overrated and it takes about 120 litres of water to produce a pair of jeans. Please consider this before buying new ones.
@@StylewithSerena I know you’re not. ( Didn’t mean to come across that way. 😊) It seems to be pushed by others though. . Never thought that style would come back. 😄
Unless you’re 6 ft tall and 100lbs, skinny jeans look terrible. They make your bottom half look like an upside down triangle. Not flattering at all unless you like that shape.
Cuz you are darling in just about anything ..... You may be the only one who can apply CPR to slightly resuscitate skinny jeans and use sheer will to resurrect them from the fashion coma they currently find themselves in.

Haha, I have 2 pairs of bootcut yoga pants that are probbably 13 years old at this point. Maybe older. I started wearing them again last winter.

Great video, really enjoyed ❤😊
Thanks!
I love Dream Pair, but they are usually 12 months behind in updating with trending styles.
I’m not a skinny jeans fan. I find them hot and claustrophobic. But I will check out the slim cut jeans. Right now i’m enjoying boot cut. I am curious about wide legs and what kinds of shoes do you wear with those.
You need some sort of heel with wide leg jeans unless you're 6 ft tall
Ulta carries Redken products. I have everything I used linked in the description.
You can tear my skinny jeans from my cold dead fingers.
😂
Thanks as always❤❤
A little off topic ,where did you get the rug from if I may ask in ?
Amazon. Mine is the 10x14 size. Here's a link: amzn.to/45y893H
@@StylewithSerena thank you so much 😊
I am hippy with generous thighs. Skinny jeans look awful on me. I have never wore them and I am so glad they are no longer in style. It was really difficult for many years for me to find jeans. I usually had to go to thrift stores for my straight leg or bootcut jeans.
Love this!
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Agree!
What about kitten heel boots. I heard those are back- bout not seeing much
I haven't either
I never liked skinny jeans . I always wear flares / boot cut jeans . They look better on me .
Bootcut is the most flattering on the most body types. The flare at the bottom gives curves to people like me who have straight hips. And they help balance out more pear-shaped figures.
For some reason, my round 80-year old auntie looks fantastic in $10 Walmart jeggings (with a tunic). 😅
Love that!
How do I convince my husband that a front tuck is ok. He doesn’t get it at all.
Why do you need to convince him? It's your body, your clothes 🤔 Wear them the way you like.
the last pair of jeans I bought are from 2019.
I just can’t believe I actually wore them.
Is this a followup to your “skinny jeans are out” video? Guess you got a lot of feedback on that one😮. Anyway i like this video too😅
No, I already had this one planned. 😊
I have skinny thighs. Skinnies, jeggings and leggings are about the only pants that fit me. That and $200+ jeans, which I can no longer afford.
I’m not a fan of any kind of slim jeans 👖 however I like to say wear whatever the heck you want 😊
Hi. I don't like skinny jeans on me. I prefer straight jeans. 😊
Sorry, but skinny jeans are a classic! I don’t care how hard they push the “mom” jeans; they are not a good look for most people. 😅
I'm not pushing mom jeans.
Not flattering at all unless you like that shape.
now its become vintage skinny jeans
😍
That’s not a great look with the pump and the skinny jeans it’s kind of frumpy
It was just to show the shoes
Just because you can’t wear skinny jeans…!
Oh I can wear them. Can you?
Skinny Jeans are still everywhere I don’t like tight fitting jeans
Cuz you are darling in just about anything ..... You may be the only one who can apply CPR to slightly resuscitate skinny jeans and use sheer will to resurrect them from the fashion coma they currently find themselves in.
I agree! But my viewers LOvE skinny jeans so I decided to do a video on how to update them.
@@StylewithSerena Tough challenge and you nailed it.
@@gardenhappy4 thanks!
