I hope we will get to a point where all types of trousers will be 'in fashion' - just as all skirt lengths are now. Then we could all wear the fit and cut that suits are body shapes best without feeling outdated. When I was younger the fashion houses dictated what skirt length was 'current' - but finally women just decided to mainly stick with the length they liked and suited them.
There's no need to wait - if we just wear what we like and fits us well, regardless of what's "in" right now, other people may notice us and feel more confident to take a step away from made-up trends as well.
I think we are there. I keep “hearing” skinny jeans are out, but I’m not seeing it. They are a pretty long standing classic now, and with all the tall boots trending, there is nothing that pairs better for tucking. The trend of tucking a looser pant into boots struggled to take hold, and honestly nobody’s buying it 😂. I’m enjoying all kinds of silhouettes right now, and as someone who is pretty open to new ideas in fashion, I don’t see my skinnies going anywhere soon.
Let’s wear anything we want that fits us well and looks good on us. my Principle is; There’s no point in going with the trend if it doesn’t look good on us. 😊 I won’t go there and look awful and laughable 😅 Fashionable is how you carry your wardrobe effortlessly classy, confident and elegant, trendyor not.
Same!! I am quite small. I've tried many of these looks and I end up seeming as if I got into my mom's closet. Fitted clothes really do me more justice and I feel better.
Thank you-so very helpful. Abandoning skinny jeans has made shoe/boot selection a real issue-No more throwing on a bootie and being sure of the look. Now it’s much more trouble to get the foot ware correct!
Thanks for this video Lydia. I think if we are talking about style rather than trend led fashion, I think skinnies are now a classic piece and as you’ve shown, go with everything. Things are only ‘dated’ if we let fashion dictate our choices. Skinnies and straight legs are classics that should be classed as basics, like a white tee or a chunky knit.
in my opinion, skinny jeans will always be in fashion in the winter because it goes so well with winter boots. definitely can't wear wide legs nor flared jeans while trekking snow.
Hehhee, clearly someone way younger than me. That was all the rage around 2000. Flare jeans with platforms and they HAD to reach the ground with the 10cm heel. So it’s gotten better now…but I still feel like a clown with too short pants in cropped styles. 😂
I don’t understand why people are having problems with skinny jeans. They are so versatile. I hate the boxy leg trend because it makes everyone look bigger than they are. Between the chunky sweaters and wide leg pants, people are walking blobs nowadays.
Another petite here that looks better in skinny jeans. From reading the comments, skinnies looks better or some, wider looks better on others and none should be in or out at this point. I did like all these great ideas to look current.
I think skinny jeans are the perfect example as to why fashion and sustainability have a hard time going together, because so many people have them, but we're not promoted to wear them. I still have a couple and they serve their purpose from time to time. Thanks for this video. I don't always feel my best in them but I refuse to get rid of them
Lydia, you’ve changed me so much! Every day before I go outside, I check to see if I did the color sandwich and my proportion sandwich! Changes for the better I think! thank you!❤️🌺🌸
After watching your video, it really stands out, how to remember ‘’ the sandwich rule’’ and balancing proportions. It is so evident, when styling skinny jeans. Great video.
I love all the different style of jeans. Depending on what I want to wear that day. I don’t like to eat the same things everyday & I don’t want to wear same things everyday either! I like to change things up! 😂
Lydia, this is literally one of my favorite videos. I have skinny jeans and I have never been able to figure out how to modernize them. This video is literally life changing. Thank you for all your guidance!
It's so thoughtful of you to do a skinny jeans how to video. I'm not a fan of them but appreciate your style and suggestions. I may use it for wearing leggings. I feel like I may as well wear leggings as apposed to skinnies...if anything. So much more comfortable than skinny jeans. Although my preference is straight jeans or trousers. Thanks for the content! So very helpful 💕
Hi Lydia. I must say, I’m not used to seeing you in skinny jeans but you always give great tips on how to style up all types of fits.I’ve got a couple of pairs in my wardrobe but along with my leggings, I’m not fond of wearing them these days but can’t bring myself to get rid of them. If I do wear them, it’s always with a longer, thick pullover and chunky boots. 😊🥰
Another very helpful video! Would love to see a video on how to style mom jeans as they are always soooo tricky for me! I feel like I’m always doing something wrong 😅 thanks Lydia!
Well my skinny jeans are going nowhere as I love them but also love all the other different Trouser, jeans, jersey styles for whenever i feel like a change!.... ladies we are at the point where we can all wear what we like!!! Whatever suits us!!!! Let go of any idea we have to all wear whats in fashion!!! Embrace wearing what you want!!!! Lydia is great and very stylish and i love her thoughtful ways she pairs clothes together in a modern easy way....and I agree skinnies are not over! ;)
I’m looking forward to your styling tips for warmer weather months. Let’s face it, everything is more fun with cozy knits and boots but I’m by the gulf coast and those cold days are well behind us now. Sending good vibes from Texas 😘
I find most of the wider jean styles are harder to style with boots which is why I still wear skinnies if I want to wear boots. I have really skinny legs and large feet so find it hard to wear chunky shoes/boots with skinny leg styles so I guess I'll have to look dated!! 🤣 x
Loved this!! I had just brought my dark-wash skinny jeans back out over the weekend & wore them with tall, loose, block-heeled white boots...so much fun!! I'm 5'8" & received lots of looks & compliments. 😉 The way you always bring out the importance of balance & proportion, and even the use of color, really speaks to me.. as these are some of the same key elements used in interior design. Im still learning, & you're a great teacher!! 🙂💕
Thank you for this video, Lydia!😊🤩 I still rock my skinny jeans and now I know how to style them the modern way. How about wide ankle boots with an elegant heel? Because I don’t like chunky boots as they make my feet look too big. 😅
You did it again, Lydia! You've got me re-thinking how to use the pieces I already have in my wardrobe. I have the most comfortable pair of black skinnies with a raw edge from wit & wisdom in my closet; I can wear them all day and I always wear them with black chunky loafers. Now, however, I'm brainstorming ideas using my trainers and my black plaid pointy-toe Mary Jane's that I haven't worn in a while and perhaps my oversize white linen blazer as we get closer to spring. Thanks, so much, for all of your help. I can't wait for the next video. 💜👏
Great video! I would love to see even more examples of skinny jeans for spring/summer. I’m mostly wearing baggier styles these days, but I still have one favorite pair that I will be keeping for the foreseeable future, regardless of trends. Thanks for the inspo!
thanks lydia , such a helpful video! I will now style my skinny jeans in some of these item as i have them in my closet! It would be really wonderful if you do a series of this kind of video with themes of straight jeans, then wide leg jeans and how to wear various shoes so we can save those videos!
So timely! I was about to pull on a pair of skinnies this morning, and every shoe I put on with them did not look right, so I ditched them entirely for the day. I will definitely try the chunky loafers and ballet flat looks! Thanks!
This was a lovely video to see how looks can be changed by the simple addition of different footwear etc. I have a question though, could you do looks people who love wearing jeans and like being trendy but are having to work with a bit of a tummy. Doing the french tuck doesnt look terribly attractive and Im just dying to know how I can do all the great looks while working around the tummy. :)
Thanks Lydia I needed this one as I only wear either straight or skinny jeans the others look hideous on me and living in the countryside in Scotland and needing to walk the dog and muck out the horse I always need to be able to chuck on a pair of country boots or wellies with what ever I’m wearing so anything wide leg is out unless its for going out! Even then if I’m walking then the bottoms get soaked and muddy so not a sensible option! This is great though and will get me making the most of my limitations! X
I love skinny jeans, they just fit me well… but because of you I am branching out… I won’t get rid of them though! I am so happy to learn how to update them to look current! 😊 thank you so much! I have a couple questions too! I would like to know how to style a more fitted blazer… I have some beautiful ones but they are all more fitted. I used to have bigger ones then I got rid of them as I thought they made me look bigger. I lost weight and felt good in smaller ones! Now I am kicking myself! Also where do you find your plain white tshirts? I can’t seem to find one that is nice quality! Thank you! 🥰
Fantastic video, Lydia! My fav was the white blouse and looser fitting boots. So elegant. You looked like a million USD, gf. Second fav was wearing the heavy lug boots and sherpa jacket. So cute. Both outfits make you forget those are skinny jeans. They are supporting roles to the stars of the show, but really make the stars shine. 🤩
Thank you Lydia! Just yesterday I was considering donating my skinnies and I am relieved that you came out with this just in time!!! I appreciate you sharing your gift on you tube and beyond especially your generous and loving approach to style! All the best to you, Happy New Year 🎆 and cheers to 1,000,000+ followers for you in the future…
With my life style (I live in the country and walk my dog) so I need jeans that fit into my boots whether their wellies or smarter boots. As you say with a blazer or a boxier top I think they look great.
This was so good! I totally relate to this as my style is a bit more sporty in nature and my jeans (mostly Levi’s) are also more of a slim straight leg so I have totally applied some of these styling “hacks” to how I’ve freshens up my wardrobe. Thanks for such a well thought out vid❤
Currently I have in my closet every types of jeans: skinny, mom jeans, flare , regular and I wear them all the time:) I always try to wear what is suits me and remember about proportion- Thanks a lot!
Hi, Im so happy you did this video 😃👌My body shape suits the skinny jeans styled with a bigger top, jacket etc. Pleace do more skinny jeans videos. I need help styling them for all seasons and occasions. I dont think they are dated, if something suits you, its never out og date to me. But we can get a little bit boring wearing or clothes the same way always😉 thank you for all your good tips💕
I truly adore your videos, I’ve been thinking so much about balance and contrast in outfits and I think it’s something I always paid attention to but only subconsciously. I would like all the pieces in an outfit but not the outfit as a whole and couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I know, thanks to you, that I was just responding to the imbalance. Thank you for creating such amazing content ❤
Hey Lydia, really enjoyed watching, and learning all the tips you mention in this video! I'd love to challenge you on another idea for a video that I feel you can take on! Challenge: All your fashion videos are beautiful and compliment your hair color and skin tone, could you please do a video where you style, someone with dark(almost black hair). For example> In another one of your videos, you talk about avoiding wearing black when wearing colours (esp more vibrant colours) and I completely agree with you! But I really enjoy my dark hair colour and sometimes I feel certain outfits really compliment woman with different hair colour and skin colour. I'm not sure if I am explaining this very well! But I would love to see some of your style tips including someone with different hair colour or skin tone, it doesn't have to a video, of both maybe just pick one and make a video with a girl with dark hair? Anyway just a suggestion! Really love your style, and fashion advice, and keeps me inspired on my daily wardrobe! All the best! :)
Could you do a video on fashion looks for a stay at home mom like me who loves fashion but struggles with time (in survival mode) to pull a decent look together? Even stylish loungewear would be better than what I throw on. TIA!
I absolutely love my skinny jeans and find them to be the most important staple in my wardrobe. They give great versatility in looks, easily allowing you to dress up or down, and adapt to just about any style of footwear. When you are petite (4’9” in my case), loose jeans look extremely frumpy and give the illusion of added pounds, as well as, making me look even shorter. In addition, they make me look matronly and at 69 years old, that’s a “Oh, hell no!” I have had success in finding flair jeans that are quite fitted in the hip and upper leg area that work quite well with platform or heeled boots and shoes. I recently purchased 3 pair each one tailored to accommodate different shoe heights as I prefer the hem to rest just short of touching the ground. Relaxed jeans just don’t flatter me at all. Loose fitting jeans look amazing on tall thin girls, but for us little elves…ummm..not so much. I will hold on to my skinny jeans till I take my final last breath!
Hi! I've got a question. The proportions rule is absolutely clear and makes perfect sense. But why doesn't it work for the slim-fitting slingbacks and the ballet flats? These two looks seem to break the rule, but look great anyway 🤔
Love all your video, could you do one about shoes and bags but the more affordable version, it’s always a struggle to find minimal and timeless pieces in a lower price range. Thank you 😊
It's weird that I feel like I only look good in skinny jeans. Any other style just look baggy on me, like slim jeans, straight jeans, mom jeans, wide legs etc. The length is good, fits well on the waist and butt. But look baggy
Honestly, I think you are weighing yourself down sometimes. Yes, there is the current fashion, but your small frame would dictate a modification of some current fashion trends. I love your style, but you are a smaller woman who needs to consider proportion when applying style. I really enjoy your videos and just wanted to comment that sometimes your small frame seems to be overwhelmed by current fashion trend✌️
Hola Lydia podrías hacer un vídeo específico de maxi skirts todavía me queda dudas de que tops usar y con que zapatos 🙏🏼💞 (que sea para primavera no tanto invierno)
I don’t think skinny jeans are anywhere near out. Everyone everywhere is still wearing them lol even celebrities. I’m loving the new styles of jeans but skinny jeans are easier to style and still sexy.
Gave into the hype, bought a pair of straight leg jeans, they look OK but I hate them, hate everything about them lol. Same with my pair of boyfriend jeans. I slip on my skinny jeans and I love them plus all my shoes gowith them
Thank you so much for your great and practical videos! I am watching you from the USA and I can't find the 2nd pair of Soru earrings when I click on the link. Can you please help? thank you!
Yes, very useful tips. I want to wear my skinnies un winter. For sustainability also. PS; I'm on an alert for the wine leather pants and long coat. Do you have an Idea when they are back?
Would you add a link to the Celine sunglasses again? It wouldn’t work for me or say what the style is? I love them! I just st found your videos. I’m so ch a fan!
These outfit formulas were amazing. I do notice, however, that your skinny jeans scrunch up at the knees as do mine. That is the one thing that bothers me about these style of jeans. I will try to use some of these styles with mine. Who knows? I may find something fabulous! Thanks.

I don't care if skinny jeans aren't popular, I love them, and still wear them, always will. Thank you for this video!

Skinnies wth low slung waist.. 😉😍

skinny jeans only looks good on someone with really good promotions, its really hard to style for others.
proportion
I totally agree, it’s a terrible trend. It makes one look short and dumpy unless one is twiggy sized.
Because if your bigger the skinny’s stick to the fat and show all.if your legs are chunky you look like a sausage
😂😂

I love skinny jeans. I'm a size 6 I feel like they were made for me❤️ I will never stop wearing them
I only wear skinny jeans if I want to wear jeans in winter. Love them with my boots n will never stop wearing them.
Lydia, you’ve changed me so much! Every day before I go outside, I check to see if I did the color sandwich and my proportion sandwich! Changes for the better I think! thank you!❤️🌺🌸
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t still wear skinny jeans. Social media is just wrong n this one. They aren’t “out.” And never will be. 🤷🏻♀️

I’ve never been comfortable in skinny’s but I think they look great on someone else😊
this is the best styling of skinny jeans ive ever seen, so thankyou caz i love my skinnies...

Love, love, love that loose white blouse! Went to Zara right away and could not locate it. I'll definitely keep my eyes out for something similar.

Absolutely loved this video and found it so helpful! Would love if you did this for flared jeans/pants one day!
Oh how i love your accent🤍. Great vid too!
Loved this video 😍👖 thank you! Please do more of these with different style jeans x
Thank you so much Lydia! I’m learning a lot from your vlogs! More power to you! ❤
Watching you from Colombia, I love your videos.
Loved, loved it! Learned a lot! Thank you for this video!❤
I actually like the tight ankle bootie as well. If you are petite, the look probably works better than the tall boot.
She looks so chic and polished in this slimmer silhouettes!
I love all the looks you advise not to wear. Sticking with what makes me feel good. Hate the over sized baggy looks.
Gave into the hype, bought a pair of straight leg jeans, they look OK but I hate them, hate everything about them lol. Same with my pair of boyfriend jeans. I slip on my skinny jeans and I love them plus all my shoes gowith them
in love with the rollneck you're wearing throughout the video! Where is it from?
the tall black boots are super nice
Hello Lydia, thank you for bringing back the skinnys. What do you think about dark grey skinny paired with cognac colored chunky chelseas?
Thank you for the “master class” ‼️‼️‼️ 👏👏👏✅✅✅🙏🙏🙏💚💚💚
Thank you so much for your great and practical videos! I am watching you from the USA and I can't find the 2nd pair of Soru earrings when I click on the link. Can you please help? thank you!
Yes, very useful tips. I want to wear my skinnies un winter. For sustainability also. PS; I'm on an alert for the wine leather pants and long coat. Do you have an Idea when they are back?

Love your style ❤️
Would you add a link to the Celine sunglasses again? It wouldn’t work for me or say what the style is? I love them! I just st found your videos. I’m so ch a fan!
Great video! Love your content! Super stylist too! ❤
Love skinny jeans
I like your style, but I live in Florida, sweaters, blazers, coats can’t be worn until maybe December, January. 😊
thanks for the video! petite, pear-shaped so boxy trend is pretty horrible on us:)
Love skinny jeans and your inspiration ❤️❤️❤️
These outfit formulas were amazing. I do notice, however, that your skinny jeans scrunch up at the knees as do mine. That is the one thing that bothers me about these style of jeans. I will try to use some of these styles with mine. Who knows? I may find something fabulous! Thanks.
I so needed this video!
I no longer wear skinny jeans, but wear slim for instead. Similar but different, haha.
Hi, where can i gind the beige sweater you’re wearing in this video? Love it!
This was such a helpful video! Thanks❤
