I think the term "rules" is a perfectly good explanation for what you're doing. Even if you don't want to follow them, they are important to know.....as my Stylist friends often say "you need to know the rules before you can break them"

I am an old dog (unlike Ollie) trying to learn new tricks so I much appreciate your do’s and dont’s videos. They are easy to follow and understand and the pictures speak a thousand words! You’re the best at that approach! You are always clear these are general rules and guidelines too. I’m new to IG so I haven’t figured out how to get to the product links but those are really good too.
I love this! You take an outfit from looking like something a teen would wear to something their older sister or stylish mom could wear. While still keeping someone’s personal style

Dashchund are the only breed I ever raised with or own (actually they owned me) They need to be socialized early and they need to be puppy trained. Teach him NOT to jump. This is the MOST important piece that of advice and can give you. It will save him from debilitating back surgery from blown discs. It will save you heartache and thousands of dollars.
Doxies are very eager to participate in EVERYTHING you do. If they could ask questions it would be something like this, “hi, what are we doing now?, what’s in that bag?, can I help? And on and on. They are one of the most cheerful breeds and they have endless enthusiasm. They will love you exclusively and with their whole heart.

I feel like you are reading my mind sometimes, Lydia! I just brought in a pair of new black, wide-legged trousers to get hemmed and was feeling so excited to wear them. Also, our sausage dog dreams are so similar! My hubs and I had wanted to have a dachshund for ages (like 6 or 7 years before getting our Donut) and we literally had picked out the name Donut for our future pup. He's (a longhaired black & tan cutie) everything that we dreamed of and more! So excited to see more of your styling guides and of Otti

Nice to meet Ottie! We have a senior piebald mini doxie (16 years old!) and they are such a wonderful breed. They're the best cuddlers and have such big personalities. I think a huge part of keeping them healthy as they get older is to keep their weight in check, and to not let them jump around and do long flights of stairs (which is hard because they're gonna want to). Anyway, enjoy the adorable puppy phase!

Congratulations on your new adorable team member! Fellow dachshund owner here and I have to say they are the best dogs... and so funny! Best advice we received from a trainer was use a kong with a high value treat in it (peanut butter, turkey, or chicken) when leaving new pet alone as it will keep them busy. Have fun with your bundle of joy and as always love your style ❤

Otti is adorable! My advice with doxies is get them around as many different kinds of kids, people, dogs/puppies, men in hats, etc. and different situations while they are young. I bought a baby sling (black) and carry mine, as well as in a straw bag out shopping or tucked into my vest. I have a Black and Tan wirehair mini--have had smooth, too. Appreciate your elegance and really informative videos.
100% agree. Dogs should explore and socialize as much as possible before 4 month old. After this age everything new is scary.
Hi Lydia. This was such a useful video with some great styling advice. I’ve always followed your tips and they have been so useful and have helped me a great deal. I’d love a similar video for styling spring and summer wide leg trousers too when we finally shed our winter coats and boots. Absolutely love your gorgeous new pup-Ottie. OMG-- Mini Dachshund owner here. I recommend lots of SOCIALIZATION (people, other dogs, restaurants, people in your own home, etc) Lots of weenie dogs bark A LOT so we socialized ours while young and she is not phased by other people or dogs anymore. As soon as she had all of her vaccines we took her to daycare once a week to socialize even more! Also, I recommend soft stairs for your couch/bed so that you can protect their delicate spines and prevent IVDD, which is very common in Dachshunds. Love your page!
A ramp for outdoor stairs is a good idea too. My girl is 12 now. Separation anxiety is my biggest problem.
We got the soft stairs from Amazon for our small dog. She used them for the first year now jumps everywhere but I have put them away for when she is older. Have fun with your new family member.

This type of dog needs a lot of exercises outside and mental stimulation because they are very clever. A dog school would be very good after a while when he is already used to his new home.
I have two dogs and every day I am so happy that they are in my life.

Oh I love your baby! We are doxie people, too. Be patient and consistent in the house training! I always learn so much from your videos. Rules/guidelines are helpful. And you have to know them to break them.

Ottie is gorgeous! I have two miniature smooth haired dachshunds. Definitely weigh their food every time as they are prone to putting weight on. Doggie peanut butter in a kong is the best idea for when you leave them during the day. They are lead by their stomachs. Mine hate wet weather so it’s a good idea to get them used to going out for toilet breaks in the rain from an early age. Toilet training was not the easiest when they were young as mine are quite stubborn when it rains and would prefer to stay warm and dry. The best advice I got was to get them used to other dogs very early on. Be careful with big dogs bounding over them as you will know already that their backs are a weak spot for injury. Best of luck! Congratulations on becoming a pet parent! 🥳 He is so adorable!!!! I got a puppy July 2021, and her name is Stella. My brother got one of her brothers from the litter. It's so much work, but totally worth it. I had to dog sit for my brother when he went to England for 3 weeks when they were about 3-4 months. One puppy is one puppy. Two puppies are like 20! I can't wait to see little Otti grow in your future videos! 🐾 (I also look forward to more fashion videos.)

I would love to see a video on how you build an outfit. What piece(s) to start off with? What do you consider when dressing in the morning - mood, weather etc. ? Also, how do you then choose what make up to pair it with and what jewelry
I remember viewing one of Lydia's videos last year, where she started her outfit for the day with the footwear that would work for the weather conditions and the activities planned for that day. Tried to organize my outfits this way, but my statement blazers/jackets dominate and everything else is tailored around them.🤗

what a lovely puppy! dachshunds are typically prone to hip dysplasia, so its better for ottie to not jumping from the couch/bed or go up and down the stairs much❤️

There are twelve basic principles of design: contrast, balance, emphasis, proportion, hierarchy, repetition, rhythm, pattern, white space, movement, variety, and unity. These principles work together to create visually appealing and functional designs that make sense to users.
We got a dachshund in 2020, it’s out second one in the family. We absolutely loooooove them! Be strict with them in the begging or they end up taking over 😅 I guess that goes for all puppies. Also be careful with over feeding him since over weight in dachshunds can be a real problem for their spine when they get older. I loooove all you content! I’m so happy for the new addiction to the family! ❤️

I love your videos...the "rules" have helped me a lot with styling things together...I also love wide or at least straight leg pants, as I am more bottom heavy and skinny doesn't work for me at all. I've tried and it is so uncomfortable for me...jealous of women who can.
