      Yes! to both high waisted, straight leg, wide leg jeans. Yes to Woodstock in the 60s. I wore a Levi's men's 27/29 in their 505 style.
      They still fit. I'm old enough to remember Woodstock, remember.
      Try men's Levi's. They're mad better than womens--
      And don't overthink this jeans look. Denim is for fun, working, anything.
      And denim is not a trend! They've been loved and worn since the 1800s, thank you Levi Strauss ❤️

    Thank You for this video and especially your last tip. Not all trends work for you. I am a 70+ lady who is 180+ and 5 ft 2. No wide leg Jean is going to make the most or less of my waist or my height. I carry a massive cyst on my abdomen which can’t be removed and I just look like a pregnant Old Lady . I do the best I can with what I have and try to divert the eye to my upper body and feel as good as I can in my clothes. Thanks for this video.

    I'm 5'4", about 130lb, and own several pairs of wide leg jeans and pants. I actually like a more oversized top/blouse draping material with them, especially because I have a larger chest, and the last thing I need is something that esentuates it. I guess I don't really care if someone thinks I weigh 15lbs, more it's what "I'm" comfortable wearing. 😅

    I am 5'8" tall and loved wider leg pants in the early 70s. Now, although I am not as slim as I was then, I think I still wear them well. For me it has always been key to not have super wide legs and to wear fitted jackets that are shorter than the top of thigh. If a break between bottom of jacket and the top of thighs cannot be seen, the body just seems to be this wide straight look that has no curve to it. I just got two pair of wider leg cords (about 20") and absolutely love the comfort and look of them. I wear maryjane oxford type shoes with about a 1" heel in a dark brown or black.

    Great Tips, TY. As a plus size 5'4 woman, initially I welcomed wide-leg jeans and pants bc they skimmed my thighs. But as the wide-leg trend grew so did the leg circumference. Most online clothes sites only usually private pant length and inseam - but never hem circumference. Also, too wide jeans and pants can be awkward to walk in. And walking up a flight of stairs -- I'd compare it to attempting the same in a prom gown. I disagree w/ your statement that wide-leg jeans are straight from crouch to hem. I've seen wide-leg jeans that fan out. As paying shipping to retrn items that don't fit, I'm now very particular when I buy pants . I've gotten pretty good at estimating what's a 20" vs 32" inch leg circumference. I look for petite or crop versions which don't require hemming. And I'm even shifting back to true straight leg jeans and pants. As you advised, I find they fit my shape and my style better.

    • @AdoreYourWardrobe
      @AdoreYourWardrobe  Месяц назад +2

      I did not say that wide-leg are straight from crotch to hem. I said they are straight from waist to hem. And they are - that is their definition. (Feel free to google it.) They should not bell out. If they bell out, more than likely they are a flare that is pretending to be a wide-leg jean.

      @@ceciliarodriguez5615Levi's Ribcage wideleg and bell are solid choices, often on sale at Macy's and Kohl's in regular lengths, run TTS and don't shrink. Old Navy Wow wide leg in the darkest blue wash look way more expensive/chic than their cost, run a tad big, mine shrunk in the dryer but at 18 bucks on sale I'll buy another and hang dry. Love my Gap High Rise 70s in medium indigo, bought a second pair. Gap High Rise Stride in Dark Indigo, runs a tad big, stretches out during the day in the waist (not baggy butt) but is so cute on and doesn't shrink. Levi's 726 flares are super cute, you can even get them at target if you wear regular length. This is the first time in years I've found any jeans I've loved that look more "put together". I have some Levi's Wedgies that are okay but they're way more casual because of the light wash/straight leg. Sorry for the essay 😂

Bought 2 pair and the fit was perfect. Women with Countrol. I'm only 5'2" and 157 pounds so need jeans that are slimming. Sometimerimes referred to as boot cut. Slim torso and flare doesn't start until comes to ankle. Who wants their legs to appear wider? Only the tall thin models.

    I’ve not found a wide leg jean for my apple shape. If they fit in the waist, they are baggy in the butt. What I am in love with is the Clara SunWoo wide leg pants with pockets. They fit my butt and my waist at the same time bc they are a knit fabric. Very high quality material, just thick enough to smooth out the imperfections and not be too heavy. Dress them up or dress them down and the perfect alternative to jeans.

Since I can no longer wear high heels or platform boots, all that unnecessary material just becomes a tripping hazard, especially walking up stairs. Being 5'6'' and 119lbs with rather small (but far apart) measurements, I prefer wide-leg jeans that are more fitted around the waist and hip area and then fall loose below the hips. Also need full length, like touching the back of my foot, other than that they are gonna look weird on me. Learned that by trying on different fits. It's kind of hard to find a pair that actually FITS around waist AND hip line though, because in my case they are 11 inches apart in measurements and those wide-leg jeans often times have no to barely any stretch to them. I also like pairing them with more structured shoes and tops to balance the relaxed look of the jeans. Also using a blend of denim that's made of cotton and viscose can help because it is a more lightweight and flowy fabric than pure denim. For some people that might be a great option.
    Which style, material blend and fit works for whom highly depends on a person's built and the way they move, I think. I also do think that wide-leg tailored pants are a bit easier to wear comfortably and also easier to style, it might also be easier to find one that actually fits and feels nicely. But that's probably just my personal preference. I wear lightweight wide-leg, high waisted, tailored pants a lot during summer. I never struggled to find some that actually fit me nicely but it took me over a year to find a pair of wide-leg jeans that does fit me well AND I can still move freely in. I still prefer skinny jeans because to me they are not only easier to style and combine, they also feel way more comfortable (due to the higher amount of elastane of course) but that's also - definitely - personal preference. I get that some people don't feel too great in skinny jeans, I for sure love them though.

When you "cover" a spot, you cover other areas and gain visual weight (and make yourself look even heavier). The way our bodies fit in clothes changes over time (our body type doesn't, but fit does). It's better to buy well-fitting clothes (regardless of your size), then just buy oversized clothes to cover up.

      Covering your tummy with larger sized shirts covers more than just your tummy, it covers your shoulders, breasts, torso, arms.
      Finding the right rise of jeans so you feel comfortable in them with your tummy and the right-sized and length (and fabric content) top allows even ladies with a tummy to wear jeans with shorter top with confidence.

    My niece had my mom call my husband to beg him to give her his very old Carhart work jeans. He wears a 36 32 and we couldn’t figure out why she would want some of his old logging jeans. She put a belt on and since she is 5’11 it actually looked good but they were definitely shredded and faded.

    I've just brought my first wide leg jean, I'm 5ft2 the jeans are 29 inches inside leg my inside leg is 28 so with a small heel boot say 1.5/2 inches the jeans feel too short but OK with flats, , so should I cropped them so I can wear them with my boots, what length do suggest would be best for me.

    • @AdoreYourWardrobe
      @AdoreYourWardrobe  Месяц назад

      It would depend on you body type. For certain body types, the fold up would create visual interest that would defeat their goal in looking balanced.
      If you don't want to pay to have them hemmed, cutting them for a raw edge is an option.

    I am just transitioning from my skinny jeans into straight leg jeans. I luckily found a pair that fits like a glove. Are straight leg heans in style now, or nobody wears them?

    • @AdoreYourWardrobe
      @AdoreYourWardrobe  Месяц назад

      So, style is different than trends. Styles are specific (wide-leg, straight, flare, bootcut, skinny, etc.) and "styles" are always around and they get worn all the time.
      Trends are when a style (like wide-leg) becomes popular. This means there are more options in the store and you see people wearing them more often.
      When people say "out of style" (I really hate that word combination, but it is what is used) it should mean a specific outfit formula with specific trends. So, think the early 2000s with skinny jeans, oversized tunic, vest, fashion boots, and an infinity scarf. That overall "look" is dated.
      But take the same skinny jeans and add an updated blazer, fitted blouse, and mary jane flat with gold or silver chain accessories and that look feels current.
      So, to answer your question. Lots of people wear straight jeans, but to look current, they will need to add a few things to their outfit that look on trend. It's why I tell people not to chase trends, but to chase style.
      Hope this helps.

    I’ve never worn them. I like the look of them on other women, but I’m only 5, 3” and about 119 pounds. I think I look like a potted plant when I’ve tried them on. I have to go for a tapered leg because I just don’t think I look good in them. Now I suppose if I could wear heels, it might improve the appearance, but I don’t care for heels. I don’t have practice walking in them because I never had a job that required me to wear them so then we’re onto another issue with the shoes lol 🤷‍♀️ I’ve also noticed that high waisted jeans have come back in and they are a problem for me too because I have a short torso. I just feel like the waistband is right underneath my breasts and there’s nothing in between so thank God all of my mid and low rise jeans are still in good shape because you can’t find them anywhere today!

    I LOVE my wide leg jeans. They're so comfortable! I got mine from JCP, the St. John's Bay brand. They're very affordable and well-made. The only problem I have had is that the mediums are just a little shorter than I like, and the tall are too long, and also wider. What I did was to hem the two pairs of tall that I bought, and I took out the hem of the mediums and used fabric glue to "hem" them so they're as long as possible. Now they're just right. I love the way they fit in my waist, hips and butt.

    Four suggestions:
    1.) Try barrel-cut jeans, which have a slight outward curve which make.the line more defined. Find a pair that has darts on the inseam, creating the curve.
    2.) Adjust the length of the legs. I am currently shortening a lot of my pants and jeans because I want to show off my boots and shoes in colder weather, and sandals or strappy shoes to show off my tan in summer. I think shortening the leg to your personal preference creates movement and a lighter touch when standing and walking, instead of torso and curated accessories, supported by two heavy denim columns.
    3.) If you are wearing wide-leg jeans, be sure their length is slightly above the soles of your shoes/boots, or you will trip and possibly fall.
    4..) if you want a looser fit in the waist, follow the boys' trend of layering your jeans over the top of your "boxers". And do it asap, because it will soon be everywhere. Right now it's still new and unexpected for. women, so you'll be a trail blazer.

      That's the great thing about trends - there are a lot of them and they work for some people and not others. But, I don't agree with you that they good on almost nobody. They look good on lots of people when you make sure to find a pair that fits correctly.

    60, 5’8” and wear wide leg jeans all the time. Balance and proportion matter so I wear heeled clogs and a more fitted top/sweater. Not challenging to style at all

      LOVE reading comments like this one! They are possible to wear when you know how to wear them. Keep rocking them!

    I believe this style is making most girls look heavier. Probably because they're not wearing them right. I hope it's a fashion that ends soon
