Straight or boot cut are my favorites. Where I live, we have pretty cold winters, so I have to wear socks, so no ankle or cropped jeans for me. My feet and ankles would freeze. They look cute on you, though. 😊
I like the slim straight Jean's. I can't stand anything tight on my calves. I used to always wear straight jeans but manufacturers changed something about them and the legs are big on me now. Don't like that either. I live in Ohio and when it's cold I have to wear socks. I don't like my ankles uncovered. I guess I just don't fit in with the styles.
It's funny what different people look at and like. My favorite style of jeans are straight legs and boot cut but I don't care for the cropped. To me they look like you just bought jeans that are too short for you. When I was younger we called them water walkers.
It's funny to me that so many people have a negative connotation with cropped jeans/pants. I guess I never wore pants too short for me, because I never had anyone tease me about it.
Good explanation on the length of jeans and how to measure to wear with shoes. I never knew how much mattered until I started trying to make sure my jeans hit right above ankle. So much more stylish.
Hey Serena, I agree with you on purchasing expensive jeans. I purchased a $ 200.00 pair of jeans and wore them almost everyday. They were so comfortable and it was so worth it. I don’t want jeans that are not comfortable .
Agree. It's not just the comfort factor, but they generally look better. I cannot stand jeans that have a shortened zipper fly and nearly ALL cheap jeans have that because it's a cost cutting measure. it just looks weird.
@@StylewithSerena did I say people didn't buy them? I said not everyone can afford them. U go from Walmart to very expensive clothes. I get it! It wasn't an insult
I didn't know about straight jeans that touch your sneakers looking frumpy. But now I can see that you're right. My favorite look is bootcut jeans w heeled boots because they make my legs looks longer.
I like some of the combos you show. In my colder climate I need to wear socks with shoes and boots. So loafer or open shoes do not look good if the Jean is too short. And I have the opposite problem…I have small feet and thin calves so often the boots are too wide around the calves. However I found a couple of pairs and where I live the skinny jeans with high boots look is still pretty popular. My skinny legs are my best asset so I embrace the look. Thanks for your videos!
Good tips. I wish I was petite but unfortunately I'm almost 5'10" and taller than my husband. I wish there were tips on how to dress to look shorter and thinner. Lol
Also, jeans tucked in to boots are just out, no longer fashionable. I've had good luck with Express jeans! Lots of styles, sizes, and they fit very well.
My favorite pair of jeans on you were the last ones you showed from J. Crew. There are wide calf boots available in smaller sizes. I think I remember seeing some on QVC. Anyway, great video and very helpful suggestions! Thank you! ❤
What is fabulous about jeans now- if they are too long- you can actually cut them shorter, yourself, and leave them raw seamed bc it is in style! I do it all the time.
You’ve inspired me! I just gave myself permission to dig out my jean drawer and start donating what doesn’t work. Trying them all on and found that overall, Calvin’s are the best fit. I’ll definitely be shopping for some of your recommendations! Especially the Mother brand. TY!
So much thought has been put into this video, I don't know how you do it! I guess my first thing to do is figure out what style of jean each pair I own is...oh my, way too complicated for my old, tired brain. I'm realizing the older I get, the less I care, and to be honest no one is actually looking at me and judging anyway. I appreciate all your effort though, and I'm hoping maybe just a bit stuck in my head the next time I put on a pair of jeans. Thank you!
Hi Serena, I definitely agree with you about knowing your inseam. Sometimes buying “short” doesn’t always mean the length is going to be just right. I always look at the inseam. I think my favorite jeans are the Mother jeans you wore, but all the looks were great! Enjoyed this video!
I have the exact same problem with a small foot and larger calves. It is so hard to find boots that work for me. Excellent video today with so much helpful information.
I keep hearing that from people. I had no idea so many people had that experience. I've always been short so having pants too short has NEVER been a problem! 😂
Love love boot cut!! Very slimming to my shorter frame with cury bootie. Btw why not try thrift stores for good jeans?! Nothing to be ashamed of. So much cheaper for brand names.
Is that a question or a statement? The bootcut ones from Gap in this video are good. And J Crew has some good bootcut jeans that come in petite lengths.
I love full length wide leg jeans and bootcut jeans…I also have some pairs of ankle straight jeans that’s super cute with loafer slides and ballet flats and also boots that go under them. But I always wear booties with a heel under my full length jeans…is that what you said is dated? I’m confused by that because it’s the perfect shoe with a long jean and looks super lengthening as well.
No, no , no....boots with a heel are not dated! That's exactly what you should be wearing with full length jeans. You misunderstood me. I said tucking jeans INTO boots with a heel wasn't really on trend.
@@StylewithSerenaOk I just went back and listened again…what I was referring to was when you said avoid the chunky booties with boot cut jeans…I get it now…you were referring to the lug sole booties, right? But what about a sleeker heeled bootie with block heel? I’m just trying to figure out all of these different denim looks and shoes!🤪 It’s a tad confusing. I’ve never spent so much time ordering and sending back things and trying on and looking in the mirror with different options. It’s like we need so many different shoes/boots to go with all the jeans. Not too mention the cute wide leg trousers, skirts, etc. I’m glad so many jeans styles are available. I’m loving them all except skinny. I’m tall and thin and I always felt like they made me look like a beanpole.🤣Your video helped a lot, but still…it’s exhausting!😰😂
I'm surprised at how cute sneakers are with the slim cut jeans! I just got some white leather platform Keds that are so comfortable. I'm going to try those with my slim cut and slim straight cut jeans. Thanks for all the great ideas! ❤
In h.s if someone wore ankle jeans or cropped jeans ,we would ask if they were getting ready for a flood..lol now they look cute just kinda crazy how that is 😅
Great video and I appreciate your help. I am hopeless in figuring out this stuff on my own. Thank you, thank you 🙏 One question…is there any suggestions regarding rolling up jeans cuffs??? We shouldn’t do this anymore perhaps?? I haven’t a clue. And still no belt with your jeans, right?? I find this all so confusing 😂 I need all the help I can get and I just wish you lived in Michigan like I do so I can get more precise fashion suggestions for the colder weather 😊❤️ My favorite Jean style is and always has been straight leg but I do love bootleg if I can get a pair to fit ‘just right’. And I love boots with my jeans with a chunky heel to make me feel taller than my normal 5’5”. I always feel less frumpy dressed like this.
Cuffs on jeans are kind of passé right now. Better to hem or even cut your jeans to the right length and leave a raw hem. Belts with jeans are fine! Where did you get the idea they weren't? I usually skip a belt when filming bc it takes so long for me to do all the outfit changes and adding a belt would take even longer.
I agree totally. Investing in good jeans is smart. They will always look good and wear well if properly cared for. I just bought my first pair of Good American....good classic in grey, lovely jean. Can you tell me the brand of the slide you had on at the end with the J.Crew jean. They're very nice. All the jeans look good on you, I particularly liked the straight leg and bootcut.
I did an inventory of my closet and I have an embarrassing number of boots and booties, even after thinning the herd significantly. I’ll try to remember that when I’m tempted to buy more shoes.Ha You will be proud of me. I bought a pair of actual flare jeans and I love them!
Ty for this video. Before I was small enough to wear skinny jeans, I wore scrub pants or sweatpants. Have never liked boot cut jeans bc I felt they made me look shorter than my 5’2” and I never wore anything other than tennis shoes until the last 2 years. I have big wide feet and am inberrased big time by my feet. I finally got some booties and love them but only wear on Sunday 😢
Hi…I absolutely hate chunky shoes of any kind…all I can think of is a cartoon character when I see them in anyone…they may “ work” but are not at all flattering!😊
Thanks for the great info. I usually try to find jeans that fit like you do in length but when I don't have exact length ....I can tuck the new slim straight under and then pull down the original hem if trying to wear with a sandal .(Kinda like a hack for exercise pants.) Over my boots is good as no bunching. I also checked out the little girls dept. in size 16 (told to me by petite sales lady while out but not at this store) at Old Navy. Goodness I got the best pair of flare jeans with perfect fit & they had adjustable waistline in the inside. I would have never imagined that! Like you I prefer cropped bootcut & cropped just about anything sometimes to dealing with hemming. Your jeans are all great looking and perfectly styled. Thanks for being such an inspiration for us to follow!!!
Hi, I really liked this video. My favorite jeans are mid-rise, baby bells. It is a timeless, classic cut that flatters every body type. Thanks for your input and informative tips. 😊
Mother’s jeans are naturally the ones I like, so time to look for similar ones that I can afford. The cognac blazer, boots and cream top look great on you! I love the loafers and sneakers too.
This video was great, so informative, as your videos are. You really showed how the right shoes and boots can make or break an outfit. Your examples proved it. You looked super cute with all the outfits. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks Serena.
Are there any cute lace-up shoe recommendations that are nicer than sneakers that can be worn with socks? Fall is chilly in the Midwest. Slip-ons (with no socks) are often impractical and too soon for booties (which we will soon be wearing for months and months).
@@StylewithSerena Thank you for replying. Wish there were better options. Not sure why there is such a gap in fashionable yet practical chilly-weather footwear for women.
@@StylewithSerena Thank you. My quest is for a bootie alternative. Hopefully, one that laces up and socks can be worn for needed warmth. Some folks suggest Oxford types of shoes, but they are largely clunky and rather unfeminine. I agree...boots/booties are ubiquitous and seemly the ONLY cold weather shoe alternative that can be worn with socks for women. Living in the Midwest (but not "up north" which is a whole other level of cold), it still starts getting cold in September and often lasts into April when we can get several feet of snow. Sigh, That is approx 7-8 months of booties/boots. I need to resign myself to the only footwear reality: Bootie world.

I am curious about this also. I have no-show socks but the thought of snow on my bare ankles has me shivering already 😂

Serena, what about wide leg cropped jeans? I think flats look good but what about boots?
I would do a fitted tall boot with wide leg crops. You don't want the top of the boot & the bottom of the pants getting caught on each other.

One question…is there any suggestions regarding rolling up jeans cuffs??? We shouldn’t do this anymore perhaps?? I haven’t a clue. And still no belt with your jeans, right??
I find this all so confusing 😂 I need all the help I can get and I just wish you lived in Michigan like I do so I can get more precise fashion suggestions for the colder weather 😊❤️
My favorite Jean style is and always has been straight leg but I do love bootleg if I can get a pair to fit ‘just right’.
They are linked in the description, along with everything else 😊
I did an inventory of my closet and I have an embarrassing number of boots and booties, even after thinning the herd significantly.
I’ll try to remember that when I’m tempted to buy more shoes.Ha
You will be proud of me. I bought a pair of actual flare jeans and I love them!
Way to go!
You can do it!
JCrew Vintage Slim…GREAT look. My fav Vid today. TY❣️
Yay! Thank you!
I also like the j crew slim straight.
Hi…I absolutely hate chunky shoes of any kind…all I can think of is a cartoon character when I see them in anyone…they may “ work” but are not at all flattering!😊
Thanks for watching
Thank you!
Hi, I really liked this video. My favorite jeans are mid-rise, baby bells. It is a timeless, classic cut that flatters every body type. Thanks for your input and informative tips. 😊
You're so welcome!
Great tips. Have to admit I hardly wear jeans. I need to figure what looks good on me and now that I know what shoes to wear that will help. Thanks.
You can do it!
Thanks for all the tips
Serena, what do you think of a round-toed chelsea boot (without a big lug sole) worn with full-length wide leg jeans?
That would be fine. And actually, chunky platform shoes work with wide leg jeans.
Thank you for telling me about dream pairs. I bought a pair and I was very happy with them. I really like the price also.😊
Glad you like them!
Mother’s jeans are naturally the ones I like, so time to look for similar ones that I can afford. The cognac blazer, boots and cream top look great on you! I love the loafers and sneakers too.
Thanks for sharing!!
This video was great, so informative, as your videos are. You really showed how the right shoes and boots can make or break an outfit. Your examples proved it. You looked super cute with all the outfits. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks Serena.
You are so welcome!
I love your eye makeup!
Thank you for all the information. I’m a shorty too and appreciate the tips n petite styles and where to find them😊
You are so welcome!
Hi Serena, love all your outfits ❤ thank you
Thank you
Hi Serena! This video is def a need-to-know for many of us. Thank you! Btw- your nail color is very pretty💖 please share the color!
Thank you! My nails are dip powder, so it's one of those colors. I go to the nail salon by Kroger on Wall-Triana.
Thanks! Such a pretty color💕
Great info! Some of these I had not thought about at all! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I really like the crop Jean you favored. Great look!
I love it!
I notice you don’t wear any type of stockings. I live in an area where it’s gets cold. It’s hard to wear shoes without stockings.
When it's that cold, I'm wearing some sort of boots & socks. I don't even know what you mean by "stockings".
@@StylewithSerena we call socks stockings😂
@@MariaSoares-yd2hf when I hear stockings I think of old fashioned pantyhose
Are there any cute lace-up shoe recommendations that are nicer than sneakers that can be worn with socks? Fall is chilly in the Midwest. Slip-ons (with no socks) are often impractical and too soon for booties (which we will soon be wearing for months and months).
You can get a lace-up bootie. The only other lace up shoe that isn't a sneaker is a brogue. I suppose you could wear those.
@@StylewithSerena Thank you for replying. Wish there were better options. Not sure why there is such a gap in fashionable yet practical chilly-weather footwear for women.
@@gardenhappy4 there are all kinds of ankle boots & booties. I think that's what most people wear
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank serena you for the tell us what shoes to wear with skinny jeans I like to watch you videos you give me some good advice thank you ❤
Where did you get the boots from they look really nice are very high I don’t I like to high thank you for your help ❤
which ones?
@@StylewithSerena the boots that you showed on video where nude colours
Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
I would never pay $200 for a pair of Mother jeans. I got mine on EB and PM for not less than $50 each.
Do you mean Ebay and Poshmark?
