@@lizroberts1569 welcome!
I enjoy you and your site. I have been watching since I saw your site. W t g
That’s so nice of you! Thank you
You’re so very kind! Thank you.
I can't believe people criticized you about the crotches and zipper length. Too funny!! I'm glad you pointed it out about the short zipper dilemma. A longer zipper is more flattering, and I'm so glad that you brought it up.
People comment/criticize everything! 😂😂😂
I'm new watching you! I can't wait for your ne
I never knew about the dang zipper length😂 Thank you!🥰
Gotta love the internet.
Just subscribed. Love this video! Very informative. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything and purchasing 15 pairs of jeans. I loved the J Crew jeans on you. Very flattering. Definitely looking into those.
Laughed out loud when you were talking about zipper length! Some comments are insane but love your sense of humor about it!
Finally! I understand what you are talking about. I always wondered why I didn't like certain pairs of jeans and always get rid of "short zipper" jeans.
I completely agree it just makes them look cheap when they have a short zipper.
Finally the solution for 🐪 toe! Never realized that….Thanks for sharing
I laughed out loud when she mentioned crotch and camel toe. Some people are offended when she’s just trying to help… She makes so much sense when it comes to clothes and style. Just love her! Thank you Serena!🥰❤
I am 5’9” with looong legs, I need a 33/34” inseam, so hard to find. 38:35
I am so sorry people are rude to you about your advice. I am grateful to you.
Thank you! ☺️
Honestly to me, it doesn’t matter where the clothing comes from. Whether it’s your own money or sponsored. Why is that anybody’s business. You are offering a service that is very valuable.
THANK YOU!!!
Well, if products are sponsored,it can be hard to know if an opinion is honest. I appreciate that she lets us know that she buys the products.
@@ashleymills794 I don’t think Serena would take a sponsorship unless she actually LOVES the product.
You give us so much valuable advice. Thank you!
Thank you! Will never look at a pair of jeans in the same way again. I will hear your voice.😉
Enjoy!
Omg I shop @ goodwill I always look for longer zippers because of you. You are a voice in my head lol
That's cute and funny... thanks for the laugh
I remember your video on the short zipper and you made it really clear what that was all about. It was good information and has helped me in any pant I've looked at. I do notice a difference on myself, which makes me think other's might notice as well.
I like your sass, I am glad you spent the time to set us straight about what we should be looking for in jeans. Thanks
Thank you!
Hi, Serena!
I’m Marie from New York, and I am 61. I like to dress classy, my younger colleagues at work call me a “fashion icon”, and I always try to dress appropriately in order to hide some problems which I have now after gaining some weight, especially around my belly.
This is the first video of yours I have watched, and I subscribed right away! This video is very informative, thank you for that!
How to buy jeans was always a mystery for me, I didn’t know how to approach it with my Apple/Pear shape, except than to come to a store (my favorite Gap or BR) and ask a sales rep there to find for me “something which fits”. 😉
So far I was able to find at least one pair of jeans which would conceal my extra weight around the belly without looking ridiculous. But I thought that since now on I have no choice but to cover my disappearing waist with a loose top, and I stopped wearing my blouse tucked, being aware of my belly…
This video gave me hope: I didn’t know there are some type a of jeans which can help to hide your belly… Good to know! Also this was a great advice: to set up a camera and to look at yourself 360 degrees, I would like to try that. And the most important thing is that it was good to learn what type of jeans fit your body shape, although just intuitively I would normally choose a high rise, slim fit (not skinny type- thank you for explaining the difference!) or boot cut jeans, and I also like cropped jeans, because I am tall enough: 5’6”, and the cropped jeans look good on me. But it’s nice to have a “science” behind that intuition, and maybe now I’ll be able to properly order jeans on line, because whenever I ordered them online before, they never fit me, and I was sending them back…
BTW, I don’t think that wide jeans look good on anyone unless you are very tall and very skinny. They make you look wide and shapeless, especially if you’re a little overweight or short. I know wide jeans are in trend, but no… They don’t look classy at all in my opinion.
Kohl's has some good fitting jeans and different styles and a lot of times they have excellent sales. They're my favorite.
You are so right about short zippers! I have two pairs of cheap jeans. They have short zippers, and they do look cheap. 😊
I totally agree with the short zipper looks cheap!! Just realized this is what is causing my outfits to look bad… ditching my cheap denim!!
You’re so right about the short zipper! The longer the zipper, the better the jeans look on.
Wow! I can see jeans 👖 in a different light now!! Thanks for the info.
You are so welcome!
I’ve watch a lot of ladies help buy clothes. I have to say your the best I’ve seen. Your show on jeans has been helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Hi Serena!! My name is Lori. I’m 56 years old and this is the third video of yours that I have watched. I am trying to limit my “screen time” these days and focus more on my life in ‘real time’. lol It’s difficult because I love fashion and make up, so I’m trying to limit my subscriptions to only those creators who have information that I can apply to my real life, and this video is Definitely what I want in my life right now!! You are a straight shooter, yet you do it with class, tact, elegance, and grace. I subscribed to your channel
today, and I am looking forward to learning and sharing with a beautiful Modern-Day Strong Southern Woman!! Thank you for being Unapologetically You! I look forward to more of your awesome content!! Much love from Kentucky (Home of the Kentucky Derby !!!) 😂❤
Hi Lori from Kentucky! 👋 So glad to have you & thanks for subscribing!
Exactly the video I needed to see! I've lost 70 lbs, 5 sizes down. I'm stuck between sizes now so only have 2 pairs of jeans. But it's a wonderful problem to have. Lol.
Congratulations!
I LOVE this!! Very helpful I am 5'3" and have a terrible time finding jeans. THANK YOU :)
My favorite far are the j crews demi....thank you far schooling us on jeans, I just always look for my size and check out😂! I USE TO HAVE A PAIR OF THE FRONT PATCH pocket in the mid 70's in high school, everything comes back again😅❤!
Thank you for the lesson on the zipper length! I had no idea! Now I look at the zipper before I buy any pair of pants!
Wow, learned I was wearing wrong jean, but now I know about the rise, inseam and zipper. Who said you can’t teach an old dog (73) new tricks to look better. Thank you❤️
All tricks not working for everyone...wear what you feel comfortable in
Love that you shop all price points. Having always been tall and thin, between menopause and my new apple shape, my nerves are frayed. Thank you for the advice.
You can do it!
Democracy jeans all the way. No cheap zipper and very flattering for all body types depending which of the many styles to choose from, curvy pears to skinny pooch and anything between.
Loved the tip to order the cropped jeans in a tall. That gives me the perfect length as petites usually are too short for me and regular length is too long. ❤
Fabulous video Serena! I am a veteran of the trenches when it comes to finding nice fitting jeans, but even so you were able to give me further insight as to why some look good and some are BAAAAAAAD! Thank you so much for all the time and effort - well done 🏅
Thank you!
Hands down, the most informative style video I’ve ever seen. Was surprised by how much I learned. Thanks for the education.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you for pointing out the size of the zipper and how it can make a difference how you look. I never would have thought of that. I will definately remember that when I am shopping for jeans.
Thank you for doing all of this research. Very clear and complete!
I recently found your channel to help me update my style. I'm 54 and have gained a lot of menopausal weight. I'm working on trying to loose the weight, but in the interim I need to style the body I have now. You have been tremendously helpful. You tell it like a friend every woman needs in her life - truth with wit and love.
Thank you! 😊
I am right there with you 100%!
I am right there with you 100%!
I'm 4' 11 and 108 lbs. Finding jeans are so hard to find. I would love it if you did a video on pants for petite women and where the hem should fit your shoes.
Zipper length so funny but true of course. Love your delivery - no nonsense and so refreshing - and naturally your style too. Thank you.
Wow!! Even though I’ve worn jeans tor years, i never understood all these points. Thanks do much for the information AND the demonstrations!
I’m coming at this after a lifetime of not really caring how my jeans looked as long as they were comfortable- I had no idea about the zipper length!! I’ll pay more attention from now on!
Yay!!! 100K subscribers!!! Congratulations!!!
Thank you!
One of your best videos❤️
Thank you!
Love how you explained the proper fit for jeans.
Thank you for this VERY informative video!!! Love it! The zipper thing, who knew?! But it’s so obvious when you know!!
Serena, thank you for making this video! It will help a lot of women to find their perfect pair of jeans. I like the J Crew jeans the best too!
Well that’s an eye opener, never realised that zipper length was an indication of quality but you are totally right, love your channel you are my new RUclips bestie 😁
Thank you so much for your kind comments for all types of bodies
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!
I totally agree with you that bootcut jeans are the best and most flattering for women.
Do one on 2024 shoe trends. Thank you for modeling the different jeans. I've been shopping for the shorter jeans (kick flair spanx), and planned on wearing them with my lace up short boots just above the ankles, but watching you makes me wonder if that is going to cut the perception of my short height. Oh well, I'll soon know.
Wow! I had no idea about the zipper length. I learned so much about jeans! Thank you, thank you.😊
You've confirmed how I feel when I see a photo of myself in jeans with sneakers and why I look frumpy. My jeans are too long. Thank you.
I’m 5’6” and I almost always have to have jeans hemmed…still! We avoid the frump!
I only found you this morning, but I really appreciate your honesty and knowledge in jeans, and bras !!! Thank you for sharing the information with us!!
@@debbiepeacock1270 welcome!
Fantastic video Serena, really helpful to compare how so many different jeans look on you!! Thank you!!
I had never noticed the short zippers. You're absolutely right on it looking weird 😮
At 46 yrs, have never been into pants or jeans, now i get to work in refugee settlement, thats huge ,got to be in that community for group therapy, and in my mind i want a jean that wont hold the thighs etc, finally this information has helped me know the differences. You have answered me on spot, thanks❤
Very informative video.
I’m a young 75! LOL I have really bad veins on my ankles so try never to show them. I like longer than ankle length to cover the ugly! I can no longer wear a heal so boot choice is limited. All that said, I love your videos! Thank you for all the time and effort you give to providing us fashionistas with the info we desperately need!! You’re an angel to those of us that need all the help we can get!
Thank you for the kind words!
Have you tried the Westmore Beauty body perfecting crème?? It's magic! It would cover those veins right up!
I’m guessing Ulta or Amazon for the Westmore cream? I will give it a try. Thank you!
@@sunnygizinski6139 I linked it in the description for you
Thank you for being so specific about what part of your foot or ankle the pant bottom should touch for different types of shoes. I also didn’t know about the zipper length issue. Now it makes more sense why cheaper jeans typically don’t fit as well as more expensive jeans. I really enjoyed this content
Wow! I learned so much! Thanks for your work on this video. No one has ever explained so much about jeans and I've worked with a lot of sales people in my life time. You really helped me know what to look for when shopping for jeans. I've never seen so many different types of jeans as what are available now a days. So many different names, thanks for breaking it all down.
@@kimberleyperez7501 you're welcome!
Wow can't thank you enough for this vlog. Been clearing out wardrobe. Seven pairs of jeans heading for charity shops. Mainly because they no longer fit & had decided that at 76 I shouldn't be wearing them anyway. Someone will be getting some hardly worn high end jeans from the op shop so at least not totally a waste. Am now going to buy one pair using your guidelines. To wear with my fav white linen shirt - scarf - leather loafers & tan trench coat. Am so going to take pics of myself on phone as suggested & note carefully the guidelines you mention. Thank you so much for all that hard work & purchasing on our behalf. Only issue now for me is finding those brand names here in Australia.
Thank you so much for doing this video. This was incredibly helpful!
Thank You Serena!❤
First time viewer. I subscribed.
I found your "class" to be very informative.
I thought you might be interested to know that in 1977-78, I was an assistant manager in a "designer " jean store called Reunion.
At that time the jeans were expensive at about $30 to $100+! I have 6 pair hanging in my closet that I have intended to pass down or sell... I was 5'4" and weighed about 105 at the most!
Back then it was THE place to buy upscale jeans... Bill Blass, Pentimento, Faded Glory, Chemin de Fur as well as Levi's, etc...
I checked and the zippers are all long! 😂 all 100% cotton... with lots of detail... some with contrasting top-stitching and/or rivets... mostly "wide-legged"or "bell bottoms."
Now that I'm a rectangle with no defined waist at 130 lbs and about 5'3... they don't go over my hips!😂
I don't wear jeans that much now, but I find Gloria Vanderbilt, Amanda line, to be well-made for the mature figure...😅
I so enjoyed your video and look forward to more fashion tips and stylings...❤😊
Oh dear, my 83 yr old aunt wears the GV Amanda jeans. I have a few decades to go before I'm there! 😂😂😂
Very informative. Thank you!
Thank you, this was VERY helpful! I used to be able to just go and buy jeans like it was nothing. But as I'm now older, and my body has um..."shifted," (plus a few lbs) finding good jeans that actually fit and are comfortable, is becoming harder. I found my favorite style of jeans at of all places, Walmart! They have a LARGE selection of jeans (it just takes some picking through) that are brand name (Levi's & Lee are 2), they're stretchy and very comfortable. Several times I have also found amazing bargains in the clearance racks too. You don't need to spent a lot to look good!
Serena thank you. This is the most helpful video that I have seen. ❤
I’m built just like you, 5’2 short waisted, me too flatter booty, migrated to my belly my booty 😂😂😂 I don’t like the short zipper either! This video was very helpful! Thank you so much! 😊
Yes!! Current! Perfectly said for us over 50! Another fantastic video, Serena !! Thank you always 💓
So glad I found your channel! I’m a young 61 and need a new look. Love your style and all of your videos!
Welcome!
A great video on jeans.
Serena this is an awesome video! I loved you in the Vintage GAP SLIM STRAIGHT JEANS. Tons of great info. I appreciate your professionalism and accuracy in your reporting 😂❤
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I had never even thought about the long zipper vs cheap short zipper, mind blown ! Thankyou I’ll remember that.
Love your videos! They’re well thought-out and clearly explained. You’re fun to watch and the information you present has been very helpful. Really appreciate the time and effort you take to share.
Thank you Cynthia!
I really appreciate this video because there are a lot of us women who really struggle with what kind of jeans to wear for our shape, and as you know, as we get older it changes.
Hi Serena. Ive made so many mistakes with jeans. This video has confirmed i need to splash out on a couple of really nice pairs. Also great news about the zips, i wouldnt have know that. Thank you. Xx
I just found your channel and have learned so much!! I’m older and have gained weight due to some health issues….since I’ve been 5’7”;134-140lbs my entire adult life I’ve found it EXTREMELY difficult to buy clothes that are flattering and stylish….
I’ll go back and watch older videos because I’m sure I will learn so much!!
Great job and please know your time, effort and dedication are greatly appreciated by this lady❤
Blessings,
Nancy Rolfe
@@nancyrolfe3033 thanks so much & welcome!!
Thank you! This was so helpful! I've always struggled with finding comfortable jeans. I'm a thrift store girl and have never been able to bring myself to spend that much money on a pair of jeans. But, the investment remark makes good sense. Though it's still hard for me to take the leap! lol! I've had good luck with the Buffalo David Bitton jeans which I have been able to find in thrift shops. They're comfortable on me. I think I'm an apple shape. I'm a size 8-10 waste and a size 6-8 hip area- depending on how they run. And thin legs. It's frustrating. You've inspired me and I"m looking forward to giving some of your picks a try. Off the Outlet Mall I go! I'll start there... Much appreciated! I just subscribed.
Thank you Serena for that very informative video. It really helps to know about the zipper length and the rise.❤
I totally get it about the inseam. I'm 5'2", and I can't wear petite jeans. I need jeans with a 30" inseam. And I love wearing my jeans on the longer side...I can't wear cropped ones. LOL!!
Me too! I honestly do NOT understand cropped jeans. Don't they make your legs look shorter?
@@weatherviewer They make me look really short!! I have to wear full length pants.
@@SherryRooney I think they do make people look shorter! When I was a kid they used to call them "flood pants"!
A lot of great information. My friend and I had a conversation about the zipper topic just a few weeks ago. Could not really figure out why our jeans fit weird. And another one fit very nicely. So after watching this, now it makes sense. Thanks.
I once had an hourglass figure, but the sands of time have shifted 😂
That's hysterical😅😂
😂
Just found your channel! Your jean’s tutorial was so informative, and I love your sass!
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it!
I'm glad to come across this video, I didn't know about the short zipper, some of my jeans are short zipper and makes me uncomfortable wearing them, now I know why thxs alot
You're welcome!
you are 100% correct on the short zipper!!! I have always noticed that on jeans! I wont buy a pair w/short zipper!
It’s a deal breaker for me too!
I do need to shop for jeans, and I keep putting it off because it’s too overwhelming. Your video was very interesting and helpful. 🩷 I love wide leg jeans and pants (not super wide), cropped bootcut, and I’ll be looking for some slim straight legs too.
I’m already subscribed but I usually don’t comment. I’m always surprised by the negative comments that people will post. If you don’t like a video you don’t need to watch it. 😂. There are a lot of others to watch. You are my person ❤. I like your videos and you are very helpful.
I appreciate that! And I don't get it either! 😂 Who has enough time
On their hands to leave negative comments? If you don't like or agree, move on with your life!
Serena this was so helpful for me! I have been wearing skinny jeans to show off my long legs and now see that Ive been doing it wrong….need flare or bootcut jean. Here’s my problem, Im a librarian, and on my feet all day (have feet issues) what kind of comfy shoe should I wear with flare jeans…anybody?
Sneakers or loafers are fine with wide leg, bootcut & flare as long as the jeans are the right length.
Great analysis. You help people to not waste money on items that may not be the most flattering. I love my high waisted floods! Subscribed!
I almost did not click on the video because of the length but you were really detailed and I’m now a subscriber! One suggestion and it is intended to be constructive criticism, I’m always interested in knowing the fabric content, particularly 100% cotton or the percentage of elastane or spandex because it effects the longevity of the pants. Example here I own two pairs of Eddie Bauer straight leg 100% percent cotton that I have owned and worn for literally thirty years. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for subscribing! I include links to all the products. I show in my videos, so you can go check out fabric content yourself. If I had mentioned the fabric content for each of these pairs of jeans, the video would've been even longer.
Thank you so much for your guidance on the subject of jeans. When my husband passed away, I lost 68 pounds. I went from a size 12 to a size 6 very quickly. At the time, the only jeans that I could find that fit me appropriately were skinny jeans. So now I have like 8 pairs of skinny jeans in my closet.
Between this video and the video you did on frumpy clothing and jean length, I now have a better understanding of what looks good and more classy. I went from a large hourglass figure to a more athletic or rectangular figure.
But, the age thing really does figure into how to look polished at a more mature station in life. Thank you again.
Glad to be of assistance!
Thank you, Serena. Wearing the same blouse was very helpful. Another special Style by Serena touch. My word, we are so spoiled by you!
I watched this video a couple of times to understand why I never have been able to find a pair of jeans that looked decent on me ...because I was simply looking at the wrong stuff !! I didn't know what to look for my body type. I have always had issues with camel toe in all leggings pants etc. And now after birth of two kids I also have a small pooch that depending on the time of the month can look very pronounced.
I am sad that none of the jeans u suggest and wore in the video are available in Germany. But I have learnt now what to look for exactly so packed with that knowledge I am hoping to give jeans shopping another go.
Thank you for making this video from the bottom of my heart 💜
You are so welcome! I'm glad it helped!
Very helpful & pleasant to watch. Thank you for your dedication & hard work.
I’m so glad you liked it!
That rise thing is really important. Thank You.
Thank you. Excellent detail.
Schooled... in a good way. I've never bought jeans at Walmart, Target, etc because they used to never have petite sizes. Never aware of that short zipper thing. Your demo in this video shows how spot on you are about a short zipper. Before "petite" sizes came out -- used to just get my Levis hemmed. Now that petite sizes are more prevalent--- it's been Gap and Loft. Will have to check out JCrew. Bootcut may have gone out of style over the decades but never left my closet :)
This is the best Jean video ever! Thank you for the time you spent researching options and I loved the zipper explanation. That’s something I never thought about but you are so right!
❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Fabulous video!! Thank you, Serena!!
Thanks. I do buy petite. I'm going to check out zipper length. You have made a comprehensive video.
I'm so excited I found you and I love how you actually explain everything while being real.
Thank you! Welcome!
So understand about the rise with the zipper. So makes a difference.
This is the best video on women's jeans I have come across so far

Welcome!!
Hi Serena, awesome information on jeans for women over 50. I hope this applies to women in their 60's as well. Have you ever tried any of the Judy Blue jeans? I have felt so frustrated lately with my jeans, this has helped a lot. Thank you.
@@cinda7234 sure it applies for 60+! I've never tried Judy Blue.
15 pairs🤦♀️ That’s a lot of hard work if you ask me. You’re really going above and beyond here.❤️
@@louannbruce6252 I try!
Thank you for educating on different jeans! You looked great 😊
Thanks for the video. I now know what to look out for when shopping for jeans. The length of the zipper and my body shape have been key leasons to me
