My Turbo BMW Really Needed This!

  • In this video I talk about and install a blow off valve adapter on my BMW. I install this on my 2008 BMW 335i with the N54 engine.
This adapter is designed to provide significantly more flow to your diverter vales or blow off valve. The factory port on the intake manifold is very small and is only designed for stock boost levels. It is recommended to drill and tap the manifold with a 1/4" fitting for added flow when installing a blow off valve or upgraded diverter valves. If you do not want to do all that and want a clean and easy way to get a stronger vacuum/boost source the adapter shown in this video may interest you.
This part is made by BMS or Burger Motorsports and is plug and play.

Just had to replace my turbos, high pressure fuel pump, and oil pan gasket. The dreaded 3 you don't want to have to do. This happened at 148k miles. If you ever get to this point, do not buy OEM turbos ($1500-$2k each). I bought the Vargas Stage 1 turbos for $1299 from ECS Tuning. Much better built than oem. My rear Mitsubishi turbo spool disintegrated and came off the bearing spindle. Sounded like my engine was self destruction. The HPFP had been a problem for years but I was stretching it out. Now, the e92 335i is Tiger Paw tearing up the asphalt again. I have a JB4 and methanol injection from Turner Motorsports (although I'm sure there is a better tuner avail these days. Mine is a 2009).

Those amazon push-to-fit adapters are only rated for temps between 32-140 Fahrenheit. Not too worried about the lower threshold. More concerned that the connector could fail at high temps, causing diverter valves to not open, thus potentially damaging the turbos.

@@VehicularDIY Hi, In the plastic recycling factory, where I used to work for 23 years, we had heater cores to dry the wet plastic flakes. This process was controlled by air pressure valves(Festo). We used these QR fittings(also quick release) and nylon lines near by these cores and in summer the environment around these cores reached 80 degrees Celsius( about 175 F). And also, the lines and fittings were exposed to 115 psi( about 7 bar). We never experienced problems at these temperatures. So I think it'll be no problem. Dutch regards, Nico.

I appreciate the feedback but nah this video isn't one that was forced. If you have upgraded turbos and are pushing over 20 psi and you're relying on the stock nipple to feed your BOV/diverter valves you could be asking for trouble. Might not have enough flow to keep the BOV working properly, that's why they recommend that you drill your manifold and that leaves room for error.
