- The MDV106 has proven to be a very popular, high-quality, affordable Diver Style quartz watch. Over the last few years, many of us have glady spent about $40-$50 for the watch, which is often called the "Duro" and the "Marlin" due to the fish illustration on the face and the back of the watch. Some folks have even been pleasantly surprised by extremely low "clearance" prices at local Walmart stores. But the watch is NOT being discontinued by Casio. In fact, in the last year or so, Casio has released an updated "International" version called the MDV107 (without the fish illustration). They've also introduced more colors and included metal bracelets on certain models (while still offering lower-priced versions with standard, resin watch bands). Casio has also released a smaller MDV10 watch which looks very similar to the MDV107. This video doesn't include any information about the MDV10. (...because I don't have the MDV10.)
The MDV106 (and MDV107) features a solid metal case, a screw-down case back and a screw-down crown. It is water resistant to 200 Meters (20Bar). It is a simple, 3-hand analog design with a date window at the 3:00 position. In my experience with several MDV106 watches, they are accurate to within 7 or 8 seconds per month, with some performing much better than that! The battery will last about 3 years.
The MDV106 is also extremely popular among those who like to modify watches. It's very easy to change the watch band and there are countless compatible bands and bracelets available from a variety of courses. Some folks prefer the "NATO" style strap, which would be very easy to install. Meanwhile, there are lots of resources out there for those who want to modify the inside of the watch. If you are so inclined, you may want to swap out the hands, for example. And plenty of folks have also found replacement crystals, using material like sapphire glass. The possibilities seem endless.
Here's a list of the model names for the different variations of the MDV106 and MDV107 currently available. Please note that if the model name has a "D" after the number 106 or the number 107 then this indicates it includes a metal bracelet instead of a resin watch band.
MDV106-1A Black Bezel with Resin Band
MDV106DD-1A1 Black Bezel with Metal Bracelet
MDV106B-1A2V (Pepsi) Red and Blue Bezel with Resin Band
MDV106DD-1A2 (Pepsi) Red and Blue Bezel with Metal Bracelet
MDV106B-1A1V (Batman) Black and Blue Bezel with Resin Band
MDV106B-1A3V Green Bezel with Resin Band
MDV106DD-1A3 Green Bezel with Metal Bracelet
MDV106G-1AV Gold Bezel with Resin Band
MDV106B-2AV Blue Face and Bezel with Rezin Band
MDV-107D-1A1V Black Bezel with Metal Bracelet
MDV-107D-3AV Green Bezel with Metal Bracelet
MDV-107D-1A2V (Batman) Black and Blue Bezel with Metal Bracelet
MDV-107D-1A3V (Pepsi) Red and Blue Bezel with Metal Bracelet
You may also see any of these MDV-107 models without the letter "D" in the model name, indicating that they will have resin watch bands instead of metal bracelets.
Also, when I see any Casio and/or G-Shock watches for sale, there is some inconsistency in the naming. Sometimes there's a "dash" between the first set of letters and the first set of numbers in the name. Sometimes the dash isn't there. For example, the GW-6900 may also be called the GW6900. The MDV-106 may also be called the MDV106. The titles I put onto my videos often reflect this inconsistency.
Great synchronization of the seconds hands.
Of course you're a big help, Greg! A treasure trove of Casio communication; the one who went to the Fort Collins Atomic Tower and returned with the Casio Commandments of Multi-Band 6!
Hey, in this crazy world we're currently living in, I just tune in to hear your voice and absorb the joy you radiate when discussing your Casio collection.
Such passion is always endearing, no matter the subject - but I do also learn a lot of Casio wisdom. I still only have one G-Shock (and several mechanicals of various brands), but there's no doubt that if I were to buy another Casio, I'll be looking for your 2 cents on the model! (& to see how many versions of it exist).
Keep up the good work, man. If the asteroid ever hits, I have no doubt that you'll somehow be broadcasting a Multi-Band 6 signal for the rest of us!
Cheers! 🎉
The 106s are really hard to find in Southeast Asia. I had to order from Amazon US. Thanks again for bringing the metal bracelet variation to my attention. Locally, I only saw the metal bracelet variant on the 107s. I really like the fish logo. So, thanks again ❤
Bro could you please tell us how did you order & How much you paid for watch and for shipping ?
@ I got the Casio MDV106 + F105w for 87.25USD from Amazon US, shipping and customs included.
@@BobbyL2k bro where do you live ?
Thanks for all the information you provide. I like your style. Greetings from Guadalajara, México
I've seen enough. I'm headed back over to Amazon to buy it. Thank you.
Good guide, thanks! All I can say is that though it's not "certified" (which would only add to the cost), Casio's word is gold. Best true diver's watch in the market, period. Ok, caveat "affordable".
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of MAMACOO. Their watches are of exceptional quality.
I got marlin- black with resin for 63usd in japan.
Thanks for the guide.
Great information as always

Whether you think it's a Marlin or not, THAT'S THE NICKNAME OF THE WATCH!
I like the fish logo personally.
Very nice collection 👍🏻
106's have nearly doubled in price online here since the 107 came out.
Online there are also sellers on Amazon trying to pass MDV-10's off as 107's, had to send one back.
Nice collection! The green one is Hulk.
THANK YOU
Could you make a video explaining how you choose your watch for the day and how you pair it with your other EDC gear (e.g. multitool, flashlight, wallet etc)? Thanks
typing from 29th Nov 2024, black Friday, the "pepsi" mdv106 with the metal bracelet strap is 86 singapore dollars on Amazon, so still around there, 65 usd... but it's tagged as black friday! just to make you feel like you're getting it at a discounted price? didnt know amazon practiced that kind of marketing as well 😀
Don’t know if it’s just me but the blue version looks slightly more legible at a glance ?
Great prices
Hey, if I wanted to put a nato strap on the watch what size should i get?
Epic!
The straps for the galaxy watch 3 fit the duro better than the original
what name of the strap of galaxy watch 3 can i use on duro 106-107?
@Vcut7 HSWAI on Amazon $8 U.S.
Could you please say metal bracelet name you installed on a black and blue watch?
Question. What is the dial diameter
are they silver coated over a brass case?
I don't know about that. I didn't see any sign of brass when I opened the case to change the battery. ruclips.net/video/Pnpiz87dgHc/видео.htmlsi=72CeAE3Oie4SWrnr

Hi
I'm looking for budget Casio and high accuracy timekeeping quartz analogy watch
There’s an entire class of expensive watches called “High Accuracy Quartz” which can maintain accuracy such as plus-or-minus 5 seconds per year. Casio doesn’t offer that technology. Instead, Casio offers watches which use Wave Ceptor or Multiband atomic time reception to maintain accuracy. Some models also maintain accuracy by synchronization through a Bluetooth connection to a smart device. Some Casios are also available with GPS receivers for accurate time corrections. The most budget friendly analog quartz Casios with highly accurate timekeeping would be Wave Ceptor watches, but they only stay highly accurate when they are within range of atomic time transmitters in the northern hemisphere. Those watches typically cost around $100 and they have small digital LCDs on their faces. ruclips.net/video/eaYnDScFT-M/видео.htmlsi=vXlksHKvDFRgE05G
I don’t understand the fascination of having Bill Gates wearing a Duro. The man spends very little time thinking on style. May not be the point but please remember that he thinks along the thinking of Warren Buffet with as little frills as possible. The Duró is awesome not because “one of the riches man wore it”. But in spite of a man that probably has help dressing himself.
Yes u do talk a lot but it's interesting talk 🦜
