watches in general or becoming divisive : You either have lots of money, so wearing a watch shows that you have a lot of money. OR: You actually do want to just have the time on your wrist always, so you find something you like that's affordable. (I suppose the 3rd category is people who legit like watches and are constantly trying to stay in the hobby and buy watches as nick knacks and fun things to play with... or 4th category rich people that do the same)
For me, the Casio A700WM-7A has to be on this list. For about 50 bucks, it is incredible. The mesh bracelet is so comfortable, it’s light as a feather, an unbelievably thin 6mm, rich display, highly functional back light and looks amazing.
@@kaima8002 For a field watch id look at the Expedition line, The Camper is the bottom of the line with a resin case, the Scout is mid tier with black brass cases, the Metal comes in 2 sizes 37 and 40 mm and 3 finishes with many color ways, it also has a brass case. All models have mineral glass, at least 50 M WR (a few have 100 WR), decent lume and Indiglo. The battery lasts between 5 and 7 years. Prices start at just over $30 for the Camper to mid 40's for the Metals.
Ok, so here’s what I found. Expedition is the best field, weekender is a good everyday practical watch. Easy reader is basically the cheaper version of the weekender. So I’m either gonna get an expedition or a bertucci for my first field watch. They’re both under 100 but bertucci has stainless steel, and expedition is brass. Both are solid tho.
I have multiple Casio Duros. They are quickly upgraded in looks and comfort with bracelets and straps, and are an amazing beater watch with accuracy and proper water resistance. Possibly unbeatable at this price point.
@@blacktoothstavros2606 I have two with Pepsi and batman bezel and am planning to buy the hulk bezel! Although most people would think it's a bit weird to own 3 same watches but I can't resist!
I still think the Invicta Pro Diver is a great choice under 100 USD. Lots of colorways, NH35, 316L, and 200M water resistance. Even the luxury watch crowd clandestinely admits they own one.
It's probably the best watch under USD 100, it's just "true blood" of watch world don't like Invicta, its hate is also not underserved so not gonna fight against it. I have both mechanical and quartz of that same make and shape from Invicta, like them both.
I’m a Respiratory Therapist. I wore a Timex Expedition for several years then went to a Timex Ironman Flix. Wore the Ironman til I broke it changing the battery. Went to a solar, waveceptor G-Shock after that.
I work in a factory, so the safety policies prevent me from wearing a watch at work, but those G-Shocks are so tempting I'm getting one to wear during the commute, snd on weekends. Gonna have to look at Timexes for the next addition to my collection.
@@o.o-vt1rc I worked at a factory some years ago that had the same policy. We even had to keep our shirt tails tucked in. Got a talking to for wearing a watch in there once. Can’t wear a fabric strap on one at my current job.
The weekender is great and can be found for $40 or $34 if you see an Amazon or Walmart sale. I couldn't believe the pairing but yes, it works with a suit.
I love my Bertucci, it is the watch I wear most often. I would definitely recommend paying a bit more and getting the Titanium version with 200m water resistance which is what I have. I live in FL so actually like the straps as metal bands can be heavy on the wrist and leather bands can get nasty in the Florida heat humidity and rain. I have the black one it came with and a blue striped one and switch them out and they are so easy to clean and change out. Yes, it is quartz and not fancy but just so lightweight, versatile, and comfortable. The quartz battery on mine lasted a long time (longer than anticipated). You could pay for a longer lasting battery watch but not really necessary IMHO.
I bought my Casio Duro about 10 years ago. I paid around $35. It was so cheap I bought two in case one got damaged. My second watch is still in the box and never been worn. The first one is still working fine. Another Casio I have is a DW290-1V, unlike the usual digital Casio shape it's hexagonal and I like it because it's different. You can pick one up for around $40.
I bought the Duro Black & Gold 3 years ago 😀 as a swim coach it does take a daily beating yet never fails 🤔 and I've gotten great compliments when off the pool deck 😮😎
I have a fairly meager collection; a few nice Orients, nice looking Citizen Eco Drives, a bright green Vostok… none of the watches I have get more comments and compliments than my Casio A158W (the A168W but with a worse light). People cannot resist it.
When I was younger and working while in college, I enjoyed buying cheap watches for my coworkers and friends as sort of "remember me" gifts when they'd quit or go away to school. i think they all lost them pretty quick, but oh well. Being cheap doesn't mean they aren't reliable, or won't get the job done.
I wore a timex expidition with indeglo watch when I was in the Army. They were tough, easy to read in day and night, reliable, and cheap. As an enlisted soldier and [later] an NCO, I could afford to replace it after a hard life of parachute jumps, deployments, and many trips to gentlemens' clubs in the greater Fayetteville, NC metropolitan area. They lived up to the old ad: It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.
There are so many brands out there that don't get much discussion. I know reviews tend to avoid trendy/fashion brands but there are others brands that seem to create high quality watches but for one reason or another don't get much coverage. I'm curious why. Some of the brands that come to mind are: Eberhard & Co., Paul Picot, Union Glashütte, Nivada, Hentschel Hamburg, Wempe Glashütte, D.Dornblüth & Sohn, Daniel Roth, Armand Nicolet, Gevril, Corum, Revue Thommen, etc.
Great of you to build this low-priced list. I like the aesthetics of some Timex quartz watches, but the mechanisms of some have such loud clicking that I just can't wear them at work (my job periodically needs silence); I've given some I've bought away. But some other models are rather quiet. Would love to hear you call out the Timex (and other watches) that are especially loud and essentially quiet.
Iv'e been modding Timex Expedition metal for a while now, i have pieces the have 20 plus year old movements that still keep time like a champ. The cases are just plated brass but will look good for years if they're simple cleaned every now and then.
Bertucci is an awesome brand, but they should start making smaller versions of their titanium watches. The smallest they make is 41mm, which feels kinda huge for a field watch
@@kaima8002 in its own regard. The pro diver is automatic for a very similar price instead of quartz and will fit more wrists due to its 40mm case. The 38 mm duro is $70-80
casio is great and unbreakable i was metal detecting with my bf and we dug up a casio (9:15 this one or at least looks similar ) and after a battery replacement it still worked perfectly the ground is pretty wet here so that proves the durability of casio

For a Casio World Timer with (in my opinion) better looks, i can recommend the Casio A500WE where i live it is around 50€! I think it might be discontinued but you can definetely still find it in various online shops. I think it looks much better than the two world timers shown in this video and it has a nice looking world map on the digital dial where you can flip through the different countries and Time zones. PS: I am wearing one right now ;)
Your coverage of this price segment is much appreciated! I admire watches and watch brands across the entire price spectrum but for quality to price ratio, this category is hard to argue with and is definitely budget friendly. Nothing in this category is remotely risky to wear in a high crime area and doesn’t attract unwanted attention. As such, I often give these to family, friends, and acquaintances needing a reliable watch to backup their phones or other devices. It’s a fantastic way to spread the love of watches with others. I'm generally not a fan of many of Armitron's designs, but the nicer designs they do have can appropriately sit alongside the Casio and Timex watches that have similar prices. I just wish many of those nicer design watches were more readily available at retailers besides Armitron itself. (NOTE: I have 2 Armitron, 3 Casio, and 4 Timex watches.)
To me the TIMEX IRONMAN is the digital GOAT, not the G-shock. I got one in 1999 (the classic design with the two yellow buttons) as a gift when I went off to become a summer camp counselor. That thing never left my wrist and took a beating. I wore it running, swimming, playing soccer, showering, in blistering heat, biking, you name it. It held up tremendously. I think the stitching on the velcro part of the strap eventually gave, and I ended up just putting a cheap replacement strap on it. I am very fond of that model, I still have one for nostalgic purposes that I sometimes wear on long runs.
I found a Swatch Twice Again for $5 at a thrift store still ticking away and working perfectly. I would say it’s the perfect minimal watch but the only drawback is it’s SO LOUD. I have to keep it in a drawer in a separate room as the ticking is just so crystal clear.
I love my DW5600, a truly great watch. One of my favorites in my collection is a Timex field watch that I bought in 2012 and have had lots of great adventures with. Definitely toss out the timex straps. They suck, but a few bucks will get you a few great straps.
Casio has a long list of modes that could a have its own video - one in particular that’s good looking and robust, is the MRW 200H. Field watch dial with diving bezel coming with 100m water resistance.
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! amzwatch watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from MAMACOO
Just about any casio is excellent. My picks would be the W-86 (better version of f91w: less dated design, better light), the newest A700 (very slick, minimalist, timeless design, best looking digital imo), Duro MDV107 on a bracelet.

I'm going to call you out Teddy for ignoring the Pro Diver. It's a well made stainless with a Seiko NH35A movement . Casio A700 or B640 are one of my favorite models, they are amazing watches, not for the price but in general. The only thing i don't like on B60 is the bracelet that's why i have a Milanese loop on A700 but that has meh water resistance, so a mix between these two would be amazing
At college, University and starting off my working life I had the same 4 watches for the best part of 15 - 20 years, a Casio F91W (My first watch) a few years later A Timex Ironman Triathlon (Same as the one pictured in the vid), a Casio G-Shock DW-6100, which got the bulk of the wear and for best (the rare occasion I wore a nice pair of shoes, shirt and blazer a Tissot Seaster 7 that was handed down. There were simply no need to upgrade them, just replace the battery every few years with the exception of the Tissot which was a manual wind I still got them all many years after other watches replaced them and of course, getting the collectors bug with slightly more expensive brands. The G-Shock & Tissot still get worn from time to time, cheep, cheerful and at this rate, handing them down to the next gen.
Great video. Thanks for reminding us watches are supposed to be fun. 😎 The Timex Easy Reader sits on my desk. Today I had to purchase my first magnifiers so I imagine others will join it. Though I loved the other model you described right afterwards
Timex with their Marlin Chrono release is just a massive win, IMO. I also like their recycle program ♻️, kind of a near aspect to see someone in the industry do that.
I have a Sekonda full lume dial in my collection and its honestly one of my favourite watches. I hardly ever hear people talking about the brand in this price point which suprises me. Mine is fine but maybe the quality of others is a bit suspect?

I know they make gawd-awfle watches but the Automatic Pro Diver deserves to be on the list. I own 2, plus a Vostok scuba dude, F91W, G-shock, several Seiko solar, an old quartz Wenger Terragraph, a Hamilton khaki automatic, and a PRX. I'm no snob, every watch I have has a meaning to me, and the Pro Diver's have held up beautifully. They keep excellent time.
Casio Royale is my favorite of the bunch
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! MAMACOO watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
@3:14 Always nice to see a watch I own mentioned in a video like this!
Timex keeps excellent time. I no longer wear mine. I keep it on the bathroom vanity to refer to when I’m getting ready. I often think of their slogan “takes a beating and still keeps ticking” because it’s true.
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from amzwatch
The Casio LF-20 World Time is great. I have the clear strap model and I love it
I've never tried Timex maybe soon 🤔🤔
My Casio Royale is plastic, gold-tone & black with black rubber band 🎉
Finally watches i can buy after giving in and buying a moonswatch the moment one i really want came out but will never get for retail
Casio A700 or B640 are one of my favorite models, they are amazing watches, not for the price but in general.
The only thing i don't like on B60 is the bracelet that's why i have a Milanese loop on A700 but that has meh water resistance, so a mix between these two would be amazing
The lf20 and euro are two of my favorite beaters!
There were simply no need to upgrade them, just replace the battery every few years with the exception of the Tissot which was a manual wind
I still got them all many years after other watches replaced them and of course, getting the collectors bug with slightly more expensive brands. The G-Shock & Tissot still get worn from time to time, cheep, cheerful and at this rate, handing them down to the next gen.
Casio analog mtp line are also great
For $99 I think the G-SHOCK GA2100 Series is a great choice.
Some of you are masters of this price range.... Wish I wasn't.
I also like their recycle program ♻️, kind of a near aspect to see someone in the industry do that.
thanks for this video, i am planning to dip my toes in this world of watches .. hesitating to buy anytime due to a variety of choices though
I have a Sekonda full lume dial in my collection and its honestly one of my favourite watches. I hardly ever hear people talking about the brand in this price point which suprises me. Mine is fine but maybe the quality of others is a bit suspect?
