Hey Jon, nice video. Being a certified SCUBA diver, I have a tough standard for dive watches. My first couple of years diving, the Casio MDV-106 (Duro) was the backup to my dive computer (Suunto D4i). I put somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 - 50 dives on that watch and never had a problem. I liked this watch so much, I bought two of them. One was the black dial version, which I put a NATO strap on and used for diving. The other had the blue dial, that one I put a silver band on instead of the rubber straps. I've since upgraded to a Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster, but the Duro will always hold a special place in my heart. Keep up the good work!
@@NorthwoodsExploration the duro is a great watch for someone on a budget. Still solid to this day even tho I have upgraded a few times as well. Nothing wrong with it at all
Casio is my go-to and favorite watch brand, this is one of my favorite watches. It’s on the upper limits of case dimension for my wrists but other than that and the lume it’s a perfect dive watch, especially for the price. Batman version for me, with a Stainless Steel Bracelet from Long Island Watch. It reminds me of a nice Seiko or Citizen after the bracelet upgrade, and I also got the Citizen Promaster “Unite the Blue” Special Edition one of my favorites as well. Another really really good watch I find in my rotation this Fall/Winter is my Casio Edifice EFB-S108D with the white/stainless dial, it’s a great sporty alternative to the PRX. 👌🏼 I love my Casio W800H as well, negative display, leather strap from Vario. It’s what started my collection a year a half ago, for $20. 🖤
I added a black S/S bracelet to mine (I have the "G" model gold trimmed bezel - looks sharp). Just don't care for that loose flap of straps. Mine keeps INCREDIBLE time. +1 to +2 seconds PER MONTH! I wear mine for wet occasions: fishing, swimming (including snorkeling), sailing, kayaking. No issues. I also wear it hunting because the large face/hands are easy to see in low light; even without much lume. I'm color-blind but have great low-light vision. My Every Day Wear is a Hamilton Khaki King II (also bracelet) and for working/painting/logging I have my trusty (and also extremely accurate) Seiko Solar 100M. Only a beater because it has 12 years worth of scars.
I also have one of these, this is the best watch I have ever owned. I used to love Swiss Army watches, but one after another they failed on me. thank you for doing this giveaway, someone will be getting a watch that may outlive them.....correction - Will out live me for sure!
Hey josh! I will try to get that video out this week actually. I think I’ve spent enough time with it now getting it beat up enough to give a solid review. Lol!
Hi jon, I have had this watch for a couple of years. As for the lume I find that if I have to get up in the middle of the night I can still tell what time it is.
That’s great! I’m jealous my lume isn’t so great anymore. Maybe being out in harsh UV everyday wears the cheap lume out faster? Who knows! Glad yours works for you!
Awesome looking watch for a giveaway ! I will be curious to hear your thoughts on the Pro Master - I have an eco drive 8180 which has been a great reliable slim watch.
Very excited about this watch review and GIVEAWAY!! Great value for sure! Your videos are always very complete and informative. Started watching you after watching your Paramilitary 2 review. Glad to see you back!👌💯
Casio does a awesome job on their watches!! That make really great watches. We know people who has some. We have never owned a pair. Always have wanted to. Thanks for the opportunity to enter. Great looking watch!
Solid review that would match many opinions including mine. On that lum? It:s only good for improving visibility in moving around between different lighting. Dark minutes away from source energy though? Have low expectations for that to appreciate the lum level where it is advantageous. Great watch and review both easy to appreciate.
I love the promaster ans thats on my wrist most of the time. But the Duro is so good for the money. I got a blue one on a silver mesh band, black one of a striped nato. And im gonna get a black and gold on a jubilee bracelet. I might have a watch problem. The gshock i like is the square.
Nice watch! My favorite Casio model. It's kinda funny showing your Citizen, because both are something like brothers. This Casio's movement is not from Casio. It's from Citizen and the model is Miyota 2115. The battery type is SR626SW and could reach 3 years of life.
hi Ranger Jon, what you think about Cold Knives on field use, Does the Triad Lock Accumulate Dust Sand in Field use in the long term and it affects it usability ?
I always love G-Shock because of the accuracy and durability also the analog version. I saw this watch review and the second hand seems off a bit, I don't know if it's just me. I would love to have that watch giveaway as my Casio latest collections, thanks to you and I appreciate the review.
To avoid any issues with setting the date just follow the directions included in the manual. Avoid setting the date between the hours of 8:00PM and 2:00AM. I normally set the date to the previous day and then rotate the hands until the date moves ahead to the correct date at midnight and then set the time. That way I know that I have the watch correctly in either AM or PM.
@@ajbriles3647 first off, thanks dude! I put my stuff through the ringer for sure. Secondly, I did not know there was a full Ti version so I’m def gonna look that up! Hopefully I’ll get the video up soon
To answer your question about why a lot of people would rather Wear a G-Shock than a dive watch, mostly it's aesthetics, but some people just prefer a digital watch. They are more easily and immediately readable, at least for some people. You think that an analog watch face is inherently better if that's just what you prefer. If it's a dive watch versus an analog G-Shock, then I guess it is purely just down to aesthetics in that case
To me the duro isn't just a good watch for the price. It's a great watch period. I've got several more expensive watches including an Eco drive but I wear my duro most of the time.
