With its almost black color, it is probably the most 'chocolately' of the chocolate cakes. To go with that rich chocolate flavor is a cake with a wonderfully soft crumb that is dense and moist. For a double dose of chocolate we fill and frost this cake with a fudgy chocolate frosting.

Ok, guys. I made this cake on Sunday and made a salted caramel buttercream for the icing. I've been smashing it in my face for the past two days. It's amazing. My new go-to chocolate cake recipe.

That oil trick is amazing. It really remains soft in fridge. BEST CAKE EVER. Even without frosting
This Cake is so delicious I followed her instructions and I kept the video playing and paused it to catch up and did everything she did and let me tell you this cake is so delicious I made it again! Follow her instructions to a perfect tee and you will have the most delicious moist devil's food cake you have ever eaten with ice cream and whip cream on it oh my god it's so good! Be careful not to eat it too fast because it is so delicious and moist and rich you can choke and that's no joke!

Thursday mornings are incomplete if I'm unable to check your channel for new videos. It gives me something to look forward to all day if I can't watch the video immediately. This cake is fantastic! It was easy; a bit time consuming but well worth it. The cake is soft and fluffy. The icing is amazing. I was worried it wouldn't be sweet enough using the unsweetened chocolate but it tasted as if regular chocolate was used. The cake is good both at room temp with a softer icing, or straight out of the fridge with a harder 'fudge-like' icing. Thank you so much Stephanie for the recipe and video and step-by-step instructions on how to make this fabulous cake!

I just tried this recipe and it turned out perfectly! It's one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had, and it tastes extra good with chocolate ermine frosting.
The history of chocolate is fascinating - it came from Central America and was brought back to Europe by the Spaniards. It was used as a drink first and then more uses came about. And the use of chocolate in this video is phenomenal. Me I like doing a chocolate and sour cream bundt cake with chocolate ganache. It's fantastic.
Now as far as the devil - that's a really interesting history too. On some forums I go as LuciferTheLIghtBringer.

I have made this cake it is the best one I have found. who would have thought to use cocoa powder and coffee..very moist delicious..I also have made it with peanut butter frosting ..my husbands favorite..
leyley1970 using coffee in cake batter has been around for at least 40 years that I know of. have a recipe of my aunt's that was given to me about 40 something years ago. but she used I think it's called Soft silk cake flour
yes I do know that. I was meaning her technique mixing the coffee and cocoa first..I would just add it in to my batter but loved using espresso in mine and I always love using cake flour or pastry flour in my cakes.
leyley1970 I'm surprised that I have not seen her use cake flour. will first use all purpose and then I'll make it again using soft as silk cake flour and see if I notice a difference

Darryl Jordan You mean the Peanut butter frosting? LOL. I sort of understand what you mean and it's interesting because a lot of people will eat those Reese's Pieces which are chocolate and peanut butter

Thank you so much for this recipe. The cake is beyond delicious. I can’t explain how tender and chocolaty it is. I used a whipped ganache frosting. You actually don’t even need a frosting with it because it is so moist. You can have it as it is.

I made this as a dessert for thanksgiving (along with your apple pie recipe) and I have to say that everyone LOVED IT especially the apple pie my whole family kept on going back to get 2nds and 3rds and sometimes 4ths! So I just wanted to thank you and notify anyone who is skeptical of this recipe that I assure you that if you follow the directions correctly you will LOVE THIS CAKE and also her apple pie her apple pie is also AMAZING anyway srry for the super long comment XD

I don't know why, but I always thought this cake was difficult to make so never considered baking it myself, but thanks to you now I think it's pretty easy! maybe a little long process but I will definitely try it as soon as cold weather arrives! :D

i tried the cake but i made a huge mistake..i used one cake tin and tried to cut the cake into two layers ...the top layer fall apart 😰😰 but it is delicious and very very very moist cake it just melts in your mouth ...thanks stephanie i love your recipes👍👍👍

What should I keep an eye on if I bake this in just 1 taller pan? Is there a risk of the inside not cooking as fast as the outer layer? Will there be more cracking at the top?
