After this video, I think Doug's new nickname needs to be "Land Rover Defender"
Good one, Sanjay! I myself used to be a Land Rover defender, but that was over 25 years ago, thus before the "Defender" name came into use. I loved Land Rovers (and Rover cars, too) from 16 April 1964 to 1993 or 1994. That's when my last Land Rover, a Series III 88" DHT was stolen. Like Doug, I had many problems with Land Rover and Rover products over the years. That's why I owned a Land Rover parts business---in Doug's beloved San Diego---from 1974 to 1986. Eventually I grew up. I've been driving a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon since 16 April 2012. Note the date! I'm still a car nut. Keep up the great work, Doug!

@@RobertSmith-le8wp Land Rover is a luxury brand that makes cars for wealthy people. Wealthy people can definitely afford repairs, so there’s less inclination on Land Rovers part to improve reliability. Meanwhile Toyota makes cars for the average consumer who most likely can’t afford expensive repairs, so they are more inclined to master reliability which they have. Even if I was wealthy, I’d rather stick with reliability than looks so that I don’t have to throw money away on a poorly built piece of crap that was made to look like eye candy.
I used the Toyota Previa for my comment because it looks like Doug is wearing a Previa t-shirt.

Can you imagine the amount of off the wall stuff they see. It’s the perfect storm of wealthy owners who usually don’t keep up with things (not car people - soccer mom Range Rover) and high failure vehicle components.
As a mechanic I actually preferred wrenching on high end brands like LR and BMW than Toyota’s. The LR customers expected their vehicle to rack up high repair bills so when you present them with a $4k bill they approve it, whereas the Toyota customers are straight up cheap. The cars do rarely have problems but when they do the owners have the notion that Toyota’s never break and start arguing and barter on the repair costs

Soooooo…last month, my family purchased a 2020 LR Defender 1st Edition. It’s great! Love taking the dog on the road as well. Interestingly enough, I had the same problem where the sunroof is somewhat broken. It doesn’t open or it opens a tiny amount. Guess I’m not the only one who has trouble with broken sunroofs.
I’d very much like a “Doug’s Roadtrip Essentials” video, I recently moved 230 miles away from home and get very tired on the road so I’d watch the heck out of a video describing your hacks, tips and tricks for getting through long trips without fatiguing

Hello From El Paso Texas!........ If You Drive Through Here On Friday Its Pretty Much Normal To See A Bunch Of Idiot Drivers On The Roads. Not Even The Police Care Anymore lol.
Doug: uploads something about his defender
