@@jackprick9403Hey Jack, it’s been great but I’d only recommend a defender if you plan on going off road at all. Otherwise X5 and X7, GLS, Cayenne, and Q7 handle better, much nicer interiors, more comfortable, etc… hope this helps!

My first thought was "It's okay looking but that sticker really ruins it." This reeks of corporate design meetings where everyone is too scared to just state the obvious. A random white square square in the window looks dumb as fuck, no matter how much the drones try to convince themselves otherwise.

In the June 2020 Motor Trend, they feature one of these, and it’s kitted out with a huge outside box to hold your stuff where this white box is (along with a ladder)
instead of climbing mountains or going trough farm road, its roaming the parking lots of the soccer field and costco

Actually, you cannot plug in a toaster. The plug says 180 watts max. A toaster is 7-10x that much wattage. Basically nothing that makes heat can be used there. Perhaps the smallest of minifridges, or a plug-in portable cooler. Fans would be fine. Laptops. Stereo, that kind of thing.

"The rear door opens to the British side" - also the same side as the Jeep Wrangler
Doug, I believe the extra set of small tail lights on the outboard sides are required for meeting geometric visibility requirements for rear lamps in the US (can be met by area or by intensity - in this case the additional lights meet it by intensity). Since the tire is on the rear of the vehicle, it blocks a lot of the view (not meeting by area). But since the tail lights don’t bulge out of the rear end it wouldn’t meet the requirements. We make the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler tail lights and they both struggled with this requirement during the design phase. Hence why the Jeep and Ford tail lights bulge out so far.

Honestly I just think it’s ugly. The front end looks like a shrunken 05 Range Rover and the rear looks like somebody tried to upscale a VW UP! and failed miserably.

Just drove mine from Atlanta to Eureka, California for CannaFest and got my "CG" and returned back home. What a great vehicle for cross-country touring. I camped, but mostly hoteled it in style. What a wonderful driving vehicle. The Redwoods and Rt. 66 were amazing.

i’ve always found it admirable that if you go back to when Doug first started his channel, back when he didn’t get thousands and thousands of views on each video, he dresses the same. Always an undershirt and regular t shirt and shorts. If you saw him on the street you’d never guess he is a famous, rich, youtuber. Wonderful review. I've been keeping abreast of the "new Defender" for the past six years or longer. As a former Land Rover owner---of many years---I can honestly say that your video and another that I watched today have made me want to buy a new Defender. Nice car! Great review and video!!
Make sure that when you buy a new Defender you get an extended warranty, you're going to need it, better still look at something else!!!!!!
I purchased this suv a couple days ago and was concerned about the 3rd row space. I needed the 7 seats to fit 4 children and this video made it look like the 3rd row was tiny. I fit comfortable back there but I am only 5’7 lol. Happy with the purchase.

I saw one of these for the first time a couple days ago at the gas station. Really caught my eye. My first thought was that it was some new tricked out specialty Range Rover that was going to be well over 100K. Very beautiful car and one I will be keeping my eye out for.

I think the concept of "off roader" is different in the US. The wrangler is downright terrible for towing, and therefore is terrible for overlanding- what this is intended for. The wrangler would absolutely stomp it in technical terrain though. I'm actually in to it. It's as much as a wrangler and at least as big a mechanical peace of shit, but it probably rides well on the highway and it can tow 2500lbs safely.
grinchyface a wrangler is 20k cheaper? The base model defender is as much as a fully loaded wrangler rubicon which is a way more capable and luxurious vehicle.
grinchyface i live in the harshest climate in the world bro. Were the 80% of the cars are from japan mostly land cruisers and patrols (y61) rule the roads. Wranglers are doing pretty good. Jeep sales are increasing so we will see. As far as land rover goes 🤢🤢🤮🤮

in a land rover he says adequate.. Any other car he would say "it's underpowered".
And he didn't mention that you can add options, like a fold-out tent, side storage cases over the squares, luggage retainer with nets and divisors, a doghouse, and even a pet spill-proof water bowl, raised air intake and exhaust for deeper wading, a roof rack with accessories for mounting boats, bikes, and a large case with a rack to mount on your garage's roof to store while not in use.
I think it’s pretty cool that automatic shifters with manual modes are using the up to downshift and down to upshift format. It reminds me of a sequential shifter when I’m behind the wheel

Problem is that even a Ford Flex is built better than this vehicle, I mean, Range Rovers are a Chinese car now and there's reports of protesters outside those plants about the poor quality, if the Chinese are protesting about poor quality when China is KNOWN for poor quality, that should raise some red flags.

Dark Mugetsu Defenders are made in Slovakia (for eu region at least). And as far as I know, LR is owned by TATA, which is based in India.
Pretty sure there's a fridge in the center console? Sorta like the land cruiser....also, the lower and lift from the rear is likely a camping function (roof top tent leveling/ kitchen situation

there's a comparison on here someone in the UK did with the Disco4 (LR4 in North America). the 110 is quite a bit smaller in cargo area, which is why some will wait for the 130 model.
FYI. The “ floating square “ on the rear side window, is actually called a “ signature design panel “ according to LR. It is actually there to enable exterior mounted storage boxes to b attached to it. It is also used to mount a fold out ladder that enables u to get up on the roof to access items that u have packed onto a roof rack. EG. these items are part of the optional “ Explorer Pack “ The “ floating square “ is optional, so don’t order it if u don’t want it / need it. Or wrap it black to match tinted windows..
Nothing attaches to the design panels. It is only optional on the 90. Also, it is glued to the glass.

It's part of the required lock-out on any hood. Yours just has a separate hood latch.
