This is one of HK’s G36 Test videos showing Robert Hirt firing a standard production G36 Rifle. NOTE!!! This was not a MG36 with a much heavier barrel! You will see nine 100 round Beta C drums fired in 2 minutes and 42 seconds (@372 RPM) with no failures. The handguard becomes too hot to hold around 500 rounds. He has to shield his eyes from the heat at 700 rounds and around 775 rounds the handguard catches fire. The front of end of the rifle is in flames from the beginning of the 8th drum to the last round of the 9th drum. The gun fires all 900 rounds without a stoppage or parts failure even though the hand guard is in flames at the end. Even more impressive is once the rifle has cooled down, Robert Hirt is able to fire another 30 rounds out the same rifle!
Translation provided by HKpro member Lenkers:
0:00 - 0:05 Hirt: "G36 No. 205 fire to destruction."
0:09 - 0:09 Backround: "Slow down Robert, everybody wants to attend."
0:10 - 0:25 Discussion on how to hold the rifle.
0:32 "Open fire, or?!"
0:33 "Attention!" (brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr commences)
0:40 - 0:50 Backround: "The ejection is flawless" (Note the guy in the backround, totally exited about the trajectory of the empty shells)
1:29 "The fourth one? Yes"
1:45 "Be careful, the gas block is getting red."
2:00 "600, yes? Yes!"
2:13 "Now its getting hot. 700? Yes!"
2:33 "We've done it, now it burns."
2:35 "I owe you a beer (?)"
2:37 Hirt: "The bolt hold open doesn't work anymore."
2:41 Hirt: "Let's shoot some more?" (Literally: Shall we throw out some more?)
2:44 "Better take care!"
2:55 "Throw it away, stop it!"
2:59 Hirt: "Do you have one more?"
3:03 -3:08 "How many? 800! But be careful!"
3:08 Hirt: "One more!"
3:17 "Throw it away, now! Throw it away, NOW!"
3:24 "Well done!"
3:27 "Lick my ass"
3:29 Hirt: "205 after 900 rounds sustained fire one magazine 30 rounds. Bolt hold open works, wicked! It works! G36 205 after 900 rounds one magazine 30 rounds runs without complaints."
3:53 Hirt: "GEIL!"
Noteworthy: Hirt uses an antiquated term for the bolt hold open. He uses Kammerfang instead of the more modern Verschlussfang.
You know you're working with a professional if the guy
- fires the gun one-handed
- uses his other hand to protect his face in case of rifle disintegration
- speculates about emptying another mag after the barrel caught fire
D-Frame speculation? The mad bastard actually shot 2 more magazines after the gun caught fire!!! Look around 2:50
Baron von Nothing the gun has Nearly 0 recoil because of its Design (different bolt compared to an ar15) there are Videos Filmed in the US in super slomotion Which is very intresting.

D-Frame apparently you don't know what a professional is
Nick Worster - Well then enlighten me with your wisdom.
Dang, and Nick Worster had no input after that!
Fired 900 rounds ( 9 drum magazine each containing 100 rounds ) without any stoppage. Well done. German engineering at it's best.
And this thing is mostly made of polymere...that's a testament of their engineering skills.
They stopped because it lit on fire, not because it malfunctioned
@@brokenspine66 so you want a Light weapon or a Metal one with completely the same statistics basides being heavier
@@jhayeah it isn't just simply that, it's a fact because they can... sometimes you need to pay respect to everybody around the world.
@@jhayeah I think anyone misunderstand that as "you want a lit Weapon..." 🤣
So they stopped at 900 because it lit on fire, not because of an actual stoppage.
juan gonzalez bingo! Amazing how many people don’t realize that. A+ to you sir!
Oicani Why did they not have a fire extinguisher on standby for this this is usually a very common problem for a AK/M4s and other guns that have a flammable furniture
as may ve seen right at the end of the video, they let cool down the gun for like 1 min i think he said and then tested another 30 rounds mag...it worked ;D after 3:28
At the end he even picks up the rifle after it cooled off and dumps another magazine through it without problems.
@@coby9282 he has not mentioned the cooldown time. He just said "after 900 Rounds permanent fire, 1 Magazine with 30 Rounds: function without complaint"
At the beginning he said: G36 number 205, fire until destruction.
Mission failed, it still worked.
If he would have kept firing the human would have "broken" first.
Well highlighted. I was about to comment exactly the same. They intended to destruct it and failed !
Uh oh the barrel is on fire! Quick give me another magazine!
yeah German guys know how to shoot and were brave so dont worry
a 100round drum exploding with ammo doesnt hurt
Ian Babcock its Not the barrel, only the handprotection so nothing to worry about :D
It's a torture test... so duh keep going until failure. Aka the barrel fully melts or it misfires.
Deutschland's Antwort auf die Ice Bucket Challenge.
lol...made my day
Jeez just how big is this guy? He's holding a full size rifle firing on fully automatic as if it's a bb gun.......
Not sure what you mean by "full size" but the G36 fires the same round as the M-16, a 5.56 mm / .223 caliber round, essentially a super fast .22 (a bit heavier, too), so the recoil is not really all that bad. If he was firing a "full size" round like a 7.62 mm / .308 caliber then he would not be one handing it like that.
I've fired a 5.56 rifle and I know the recoil but it still has an element of muzzle rise, especially in auto. He fires the whole thing like a pistol with only one hand.
I went back and looked again. Yeah, he might be bigger than average. I'm six feet tall and weigh around 200# and I experience very little rise when firing my AR. I've only fired a full-auto once in Nevada and it wasn't overly challenging to keep the barrel down.
Did you do it with one hand?
Nope. I did not. The guy handing him ammo seems to be about the same height as the other folks watching, and he's about a half-head shorter than the shooter, so the shooter is probably larger than average.
2:53 You successfully enchanted your weapon. It deals +25 fire damage, but has a risk of hurting the operator.
after you run out of 1000 rounds of ammunition you can just use it as a flame thrower with the Barrel on fire
GEEKERS stick a hotdog on the end and cook it
on the old maxim with water cooled barrel you could boil coffee or tea after a the shooting ended. :)
Talk about gunpowder tea, hurp hurp huhuhu~
what is wrong with you
GEEKERS wrap some bacon around the barrel and cook it while you do your other tasks
And that, ladies and gentleman, is the masterpiece your minister of defence suddenly decided to label as a crap rifle.
Breno Pastro it is a total crap, especially compared to ak.

Is it not rather telling that the HK 416 is an out of spec rip off of the superior American AR. They cannot design shit.
powertothebauer, my wife makes me do plenty of housework.
Tommy Seabee The 416 has an AR based design because the US military wanted a new standard assault rifle that uses STANAG mags and doesn't differ so much from the M4, that it would require a complete change of training procedures. HK build it for that audition, not because of how suppodestly "superior" the M4 design is in your eyes....which jams up to 6 times more often than a G36 by the way 😏
Now I know why they call them firearms
😂😂
You mean burning firearms.
Hahaha, brilliant.
Lol, the guy shooting: "ho hum, looks like another boring day of shooting thousands of rounds of bullets..."
Rene Leblanc would like how much momey was spent in this video
Considdering he's part of the H&K design team, it definitely was just another day on the job for him.
Just like my captain during conscript training used to refer to some exercises as kindergarten exercises...
Namely those exercises where our mortar platoon sent more budget down range in a few hours than a kindergarten gets as it's anual budget.
Like the day we and another platoon fired six 12cm IR-homing, rocket boosted anti tank shells worth about 60'000 USD each at year 2003 exchange rates...
Seeing many tests of both AK's , AR's and piston AR's, usually with a lot of failures inbetween. I as a german are astonished how well it did, i knew its a good system, but that it runs without a single mailfunction is amazing.
according to the german army it loses accuracy after sustained fire though... it will be replaced by another weapon in the army by 2020
true
was mainly someone trying to screw over the secretary of defense who was/is a hot contender of succeeding Merkel who deflected it by screwing over the company producing the G36 which might not be so bad as in forcing German weapon manufacturers to improve their quality controls and delivery commitments as they usually get a lot of leeway and subsidies to keep producing for germany which is not healthy to having an army that actually needs to go on missions but is on a tight budget.
its a worse g3
Johannes von' Strauch [Development_Group] It only didn't fail because they weren't slapping mud and putting it through real tests
Title wrong. It didn't fail.
The title is correct in that this test was intended to be "shooting until failure". That is what the guy said at the beginning. Well, you could say they prematurely aborted the test because it just didn't fail.
@@TheNewTimeNetwork yea, the gun didnt fail, the heat of the bullets caught it on fire. He would have kept shooting if the fire didnt engulf the slide.
@@TheNewTimeNetwork He didn't say to failure, he said schussfolge bis zur Zerstörung which translated into English means continuous fire until destruction, so it should of course be clear that he meant continuous fire until it is broken
@@TheNewTimeNetwork they stopped because it was on Fire, not because it failed to fire a round
@@lincolnclay898 That's what I said. They *wanted* to shoot until destruction/failure, hence this is a "full auto until failure" test. They couldn't finish the test but the video title is not wrong.

In the g36s defense, it didn’t fail to fire. The furniture caught fire while it was still partying. Different furniture, different story.
MG36 prototypes had a HEATSINK on the handguard not only the heavy barrel, to prevent this. G36 problem is the barrel bends after 100 full auto shoots and lost ACCURACY. Fun fact is that MG36 dont entered service? YES, IT ENTERED SERVICE IN SPAIN, BECAUSE ALL SPANISH-MADE G36E are based on MG36E so they had the heavy barrel+heatsink+simply optics as MG36 has.
The g36 barrel doesn't bend. The Bundeswehr only uses cheap ammo
@@straffzettel if you see it straight doesnt mean is not bent... an Overheated G36 cannon BENDS only few milimeters only but In real combat that means = you hit nothing.
@@SargentoDuke this myth has been debunked several times also here on RUclips. The barrel doesn't bend the accuracy doesn't suffer. This is the same like the M1 Garand Ping of death or the AK never jams stories. In addition to that Germany was the only country that claimed these errors after 15 years of service. No other countries could ever watched a similiar issue.
@@RandomGuy9 you said nothing than empty words. No other country you said? lol because the first G36 that entered battle were the Spanish-made one on 2003 and has a heavier barrel than the german. Myth? tell that to three german soldiers dead on 2015 because cant hit at 100m.

I had to come back and comment again. It's very impressive. 900 rounds + 30 and NOT A SINGLE jam !
I've seen, owned and shot myself AKs, VZs. Around 120-200 rounds within 5 to 10 minutes. And they jammed, not always, but sometimes, maybe at 50% of the occasions.

you can also call it 900 shots and a throw
i did not actually see a failure here, it just got so hot you cant handle it anymore
Yes, thats what he said in the End. 900 round torture test and it still ran the 30 round magazine flawlessly.
It does not lock the bolt back anymore though.
Holy fuck how reliable that was comparing all might AK-47... just wondering did they use SAKO bullet's? China bullets will flame up the gun 30+ bullets and will jam... SAKO bullets wont jam and heat output is totally diferent story...
Markus Alanen,
AK-47 is probably the 2nd most overrated gun(behind the desert eagle). It is not as reliable as the myths surrounding it.
Search youtube for "AK 47 mud test" or "AK 47 torture test". Most of the channels who have done them have videos of other rifles you can compare the AK to. I'm not saying it is a bad rifle, it is actually a very good one for general purpose assault rifles, but pales in comparison to many, many other rifles. Especially modern ones.
I found some for you:
AK47 - ruclips.net/video/DX73uXs3xGU/видео.html
AR15 - ruclips.net/video/YAneTFiz5WU/видео.html
I don't play CoD. I shoot in real life. In reality the AK47 is nowhere close to as reliable as its reputation, but it is still a good weapon.
The desert Eagle .50AE is probably the most over rated gun due to its proliferation in film and video games. In reality it is a piece of shit. It is heavy, expensive, poorly balanced, extremely prone to jamming, and no matter what you want to use it for, there is another weapon that will fulfill that task better.
I am also probably old enough to be your grandfather, judging by your sophomoric attitude and presumptuousness.
Why do you keep mentioning video games? Do you have an obsession or something?
"nobody thinks that."
I see you have polled the entire planet and know that no one thinks the DE is a great gun. How exactly did you do that?
I never said "overrated by shooters". I am speaking of the general population, you know, the ones that think AR stands for assault rifle and think "fully semi-auto" is a thing. The ones who play FPS games and watch action films thinking they are realistic. Perhaps you should hang out with some non military personnel sometime. You might be surprised how misinformed many are.
Of course people with firearm knowledge know better. You are making a moot point.
I have zero desire to be in the military(especially if its full of petulant twerps like you). I am not lying about my age.
The way you speak is akin to a teenager. If you are over 18 years old you have some serious maturing to do, and I hope you are not actually in the military or around weapons. You should probably stop playing so many video games, too. It seems as though you cannot help but mention them. I also have no idea what submarines have to do with this.
das "Geil" am Ende Hahahaha
Geil!
Das "pass halt uff" war auch gut als das Gewehr schon gebrannt hat
As a Brit I've got to say our German cousins have made some of the best weapons ever produced. In WW2 they were ahead of everybody and quality was superior to the east and west. Never has a better army been put in the field for a bad cause. What they achieved and against the odds they fought has got to be respected.
It has to be said that they focused their whole industry on producing war material. Germany needed the war because they would have gone bankrupt without it... And at the beginning of the war the french had far better armored and armed tanks like the Renault Char B1. Only the German 8,8 could penetrade it. A Char destroyed 13 Panzer III and IV in a few minutes during the Battle of the Stonne. But they had bad tactics and their behavior was very arrogant. French tanks had no radio communications and were not organised in quality tank division.
So the germans fucked them with discipline and new tactics...
@torcid
You're wrong. Yes, war was needed due to the debt. However:
War time production wasn't forced in favor of consumer products till 1941... which then finally started to affect production in 1942 and subsequently in 1943 and 1944... but by then it was too little too late and allies outproduced Germany with everything... especially ammunition! And they (allies) had good access to resources like oil, rubber, iron etc..
Sure Germany invested heavily into it's war industry in the 30s, but be aware that was basically building it up from scratch after being demilitarized after WWI. Germany had a 4 year "ready for war"-plan ending in 1940, which means the war hit industry unprepared.
Furthermore Germany didn't understand streamlined and mass production until the very end of the war. Which made maintaining and repairing the many different models of weapons in Wehrmacht use difficult and time-consuming. Production wasn't handed over to economic and logistic experts for a long time.
Furthermore the forced labor from underfed foreign workers and KZ prisoners in no way can substitute a well trained motivated and fed workforce in a factory that is motivated by achieving victory and supporting their soldiers.
In summation there's a reason for the Blitzkrieg Strategy. Leadership knew that they'd be outpaced in a long war... and that's exactly what happened.
Luckily.
er thanks 🤣
Bloody hell Ryan that's a bit strong.
It was a just, not a bad cause for all of Europe. You got tricked into believing you were doing the right thing and got fucked over ever since. The rest is spot on, though.

Mind you that this is a polymer frame gun with a barrel trunnion pressed in... and it functions without slamming the charging handle on the table after 300-400 rounds like an AK. Impressive.
LOL...they all speak this rather rural dialect of German language, which gives me the impression of a bunch of farmers fooling around with that gun instead of technicians testing it. ^^
I'm german and yeah..... they really talk like a bunch of farmers. I hate german dialects, they make us sound like retards
Oh, please. They´re from Baden-Würtemberg, aren´t they? Oberndorf has a population of about 14,000 people. It IS a rather rural dialect....Sieh mal, ich komme aus NRW, aus´m Ruhrpott, genauer gesagt.
Yeah I'm pretty sure a technician would wear proper safety gear and not simply put his hand in front of his face.
I guess "South" in every country has it's Hillbillies..
Damn impressive that the G36 can fire more shots in a row without overheating than the AK-12! And above all, even more impressive when you consider that they only threw them away during this test because the G36 was on fire, so theoretically they could have continued shooting. A friend of mine who had served in the Bundeswehr at the time of conscription said to me that the G36 is a good assault rifle.
Actuallyit caught fire because the barrel bended and melted the handguard... G36 OVERHEATS AFTER 100 SHOOTS AND BARREL BENDS. The only ones that dont overheat are the MG-36 protoypes that dont entered service on Germany, but entered service on SPAIN as the spanish-made G36E with the heavy barrel and HEATSINK on the handguard to prevent that fire.

When did it fail I only saw it catch fire
It didn't.
It didn't.
900 rounds and it still works after it ? thats pretty good even the hk 416 or the Ak47 is are the same, only but the ak was completly broke after it
"Tu langsam Thomas, es kommen alle" 😂🤝🏻
These guys are Swabian.
They didn't stop because the weapon was on fire, but because ammunition is expensive.
3:27 “Lick my ass” Classic!!! Hahahahaha
Thats how we roll in germany, one guy not even wearing ear protection. Gun catches fire at the end, just throw it away.
Only people without any experience say that this weapon is crap.
Das G36 ist ein Meisterwerk.
The Guy in the Background: "Now throw it away" in german: Jetzt werf es weg!😂😂😂
That's why the French army are replacing the FAMAS with the HK 416.
Ive seen aks and ars go down at the 800 round mark. This plastic fantastic gun exceeded them and i think still couldve kept going. Amazing
recoil is great
Max Otto no. The G36 has little to no recoil. I was a German soldier for almost 5 years and the only negative thing i have to say is that the targeting optic is way to fragil. One hit at anything and you have to readjust it
Just a little mistake
Tim Dallmann German soldier with a US arny general as PP... TRAITOR! FIEKLING!
Zero fail to feed or fail to fire.....even when it was ON fire. Nice piece.
Zero malfunctions
Show me another gun that does this
Zero malfunctions even after and while being on fire
Just Google ar15 meltdown.
Dude firing full auto one handed looking like a Terminator
BKA-konforme Deaktivierung einer Kriegswaffe ;-)
Wow! Pretty much all you have to worry about is the gun barrel warping due to heat!
Very interesting video, also thank you for the detailed description !
So german: Big guy standing like a tree, firing round after round single-handed without any emotion until weapon catches fire ...
Also german: At 3:30 the G36 has melted down halfway after 900 rounds, but you can fire another magazine with 30 round without any problems ...
That was a magazine not a Clip a garand uses a clip
Germans know how to build their weapons!
Actually it did not fail, it was just to hot to hold on to :) Failed would indicate that is was broken, or not able to fire anymore. Since the rifle can fire after the fire was out, it did not fail :)
Wahrscheinlich noch mit Leuchtspur und man kann sich denken wie letzte Woche das Feuer bei Hk aufm Schießstand ausgebrochen ist ;D
This video has escaped me. Wish I saw this vintage beauty earlier.
Respect To Germany. That's One Beautiful Rifle.
the best video of the internet
Krauts firing automatic weapons. What's not to love?
Truly amazing only a real fire arm enthusiasts can appreciate this video
The recording device loudly screams "German engineering" all over the world.
No failure to fire, just fire.
Chuck Norris has left the chat
Anyone else notice the dude standing around with no ear protection? He’s using his fingers the whole time lol
Standhaft wie eine deutsche Eiche ;D
It would have been interesting to see an test of the accuracy after firing 900 rounds
