    In this video taken from the Wings of Liberty server online, I discuss some points that I focus on for quickly and accurately identifying the Bf 109, Fw 190A, and Spitfire Mk. V fighters. I also cover energy fighting.

    This is bloody excellent stuff. I especially appreciate the music you use in the pauses where you explain the dynamics. Very nice and I hope to hear it this way again. These are easily the most useful dogfighting videos I've ever seen in the more than 10 years I've been into IL-2 off and on.

    I'm new to IL2 Battle Of.. series (not new to combat simming, but to WW2 besides some dabbing into 1946 back in the day) and have seen a couple of videos about ID-ing WW2 aircraft / aircraft in IL2.. While all of these gave vital tips, the way you structured the video more like a lesson, including having exercises with the viewer / asking him questions etc, i am 100% certain this one was by far the most important one on the topic i have seen. The focus on practicability combined with the presented details makes that really great educational material. I know this video is 2 years old, but thank you for that one anyways. Subbed.

    Excellent tutorial. I wish there were more on aircraft identification because that’s definitely a weak point for me (cataract in one eye). 👍

    Great. Bought the game yesterday and all I did was mostly watching videos. I do like videos with subs and no audio commentary and this one is very good - allthough I'm far away from that stage of gameplay.

    Excellent videos, so far the ebst ones Ive seen about my fave plane: FW 190!
    Dunno how some can do that, I usually need to get closer to see and determine if its an enemy plane or friendly, seeing fromt hat distance and you can tell is stunning, to me its justa dot and cant make out any details xD As I play without headtracking I find it tricky to keep eyes on the target as I either use a small stick on the joystick to move the head or switch hands so I can use the mouse to look around which is easier but then its harder to fly the airplane with my left hand.... Usually I lose sight of the enemy and just as often get surprised from behind, been used to have the enemy planes being marked in IL-2 1946 game xD

      he just pretends he can do it.its impossible on a pixelating monitor.its just a question of pure guessing and a bit of luck.
      Or in his case: commenting on recorded stuff where it is easy to do so

    Great vid. Fantastic learning material, thank you so much for contributing to this community and beyond! subscribed.
    Man, reading energy levels is still blurry to me... most of the time I get caught by the fact that my opponent has the same energy as i do or higher even though i had altitude advantage in the first place. I really cant tell just by looking at them... i boils down to me flying, him flying, me trying a pass, he dodging and instantly getting on my tail, me starting to extend, random Yak suddenly appears and shoots me down...

    Great video, as always!
    I miss a higher frequency of posts because your videos are very informative, coherent and clearly conveys your mindset.
    Explain how to get an angle of attack when we are above the enemies, but they are doubling horizontally, so I can not make a precise decision and I am always missing the possibility of firing. Explain too how to climb with FW 190 effectilly without burn fuel.
    Usually i'm not put the extra guns, what you think about that?

      @na851  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks! I have a young daughter so I can't fly very often these days. I miss the frequent posts too!
      The most efficient way to climb is at Combat power, at best climb speed which is approximately 270 km/h IAS. I almost never take the extra guns.
      I will try to get a video of what to do when the enemy is below you and denying you angles.

    • @na851

      Well a lot comes just from practice, and you can get the fundamental theory from books like Shaw's Fighter Combat or In Pursuit. But there's no substitute for experience.

    hey there, could you maybe do a video on how to fly in the G series 109s? Because I really can´t do F4 stuff in the G2 or G4

    • @na851
      @na851  6 лет назад +1

      Sure, I will try to find some time to fly in the next few weeks. The way it works is I basically record every flight until something interesting or video-worthy happens and then I make commentary and upload it. Sometimes it takes a while to encounter a good teachable moment but I'll try to make my next video about the 109G.

    • @NotDumbassable
      @NotDumbassable 6 лет назад

      thx, because IMO the F4 is such a magical thing, that the G series kinda feels mediore when compared to it.

    • @na851
      @na851  6 лет назад

      It maybe just comes down to discipline. Don't engage until you have an advantage, and bring a wingman.

    • @NotDumbassable
      @NotDumbassable 6 лет назад

      For me the G series kind of feels like an unsatisfactory compromise between the Fw190A series and the BF109 F4.
      It does have the advantage in climbing when compared to the FW, but nothing else, and it´s worse than the F4 in nearly every aspect,
      aside from energy retention and high speed manoeuvreability.

      It´s usualy too fast in situations when I need precision, but still takes an unacceptable amount of turning my neck to look behind me
