Do more of these. A lot of other RUclipsrs say ‘what’ you should do, not why you do it. That’s why I like your tuts the best, I feel like they explain more real-world situations in the heat of the moment. Thanks!
Great video Opcode. Your commentary is really beneficial in explaining your decisions. I particularly like the nose-to-nose vs nose-to-tail dilemma you went over while perched over the Lagg3. While chair flying I was anticipating going right, but your reasoning for going left makes me realize how much more there is to learn about BFM/ACM. Would love to fly with you some time.
You are obviously more skilled than any other RUclipsrs I've seen, and you are far better at explaining things than them. Reminds me of the History Channel's Dogfights! Keep up the great work!
Another classic bit of viewing! The guy in the LaGG was wearing some experimental prototype Stalinium Trousers which is why you didn't bring him down earlier. I think you may have hit him in the pocket where he keeps his matches, hence the fireball!!
These videos are seriously interesting, im trying to get into il2 atm but im still learning the ropes (mostly trying to find a good camera control setup since i cant afford trackir lol). Hope you make more of these videos soon :)
Hey can you tell me if you use a special function / setting of pilot head or gunsight to have the cross of your gunsight so small when you zoom in? In the COD there was a setting called „lean foreward“ I think but I could not find it in BOS. Can you give me a tip how your settings are? Great video!
look in the "pilot head" controls i think its like zoom but theres also pilot head shift and look, its a combonation of those 3 nd it rly helps if ur stick has a shift functionality
This guy: Sees a black spot with two wings sticking out of it - "Hmm yes, looks like that filthy bolshevik Dimitri is using his I-16 to crop the fields again!" Seriously, I cannot tell what the plane is until like 500 meters... unless it is a Stuka - that landing gear is what always what gives it away for me! :D
Got i question, i always watch these videos abt energy management and energy tactics, what happens actually in game however is: i spot the enemy and he spots me (russian fighter), i maintain vertical separation and supposedly energy advantage, he just turns into me, and no matter how good i climb, using Vy of the bf109, they all just outclimb me, they hang from their props and they close in boom, shoot me down. There goes theory down the drain. No matter how we start, no matter what i do all russian planes look like they can outclimb me at will, its so frustrating and i cant figure out whats wrong. When i try allied and russian fighters its like easy mode on.
You're doing it all wrong, when they talk about energy, the truth is that it's about speed. You want to be at a higher altitude so that you can attack by plunging down on them (at a low angle if possible to make it easier for you to shoot them) when you have no more opportunities to shoot, you climb up. The thing is that you gained speed by going down so you climb up faster than your opponent and since you're so fast they got not opportunities to shoot you down. - Keep the altitude and speed advantage (don't try things that lower your speed near enemies that'll make you a sitting duck) - Don't follow your enemies just climb up (you should follow only when you go down on them since it doesn't involve tight turns) - You can always flee by doing boom & extend (just go straight after going down most of the time enemies can't catch up)
@@toutlemondesalut sorry but you are not telling me anything different fm what iv said with much more words, potential energy is energy, whether i convert it to kinetic or not, they will always keep up, plus, iv seen people roll out of a very tight turn, they are slow, they pull the nose up and yet they outclimb either the bf or the fw, no matter what, i always fly coordinated, ball in the center , i always use Vy, sometimes i even begin from a higher energy state, but for some reason they always seem to keep up and close in, never stalling.
Opcode, I am doing a school project which I choose I need people to give me some of their experiences if they play with rudder pedals, would you happen to play with rudder pedals?
The 109s have field mods available under the equipment menu or whatever it's called. The one where you'd select e.g. 150 Octane in the Allied aircraft. You can remove the armored headrest but I believe it does increase the chance your pilot gets killed

edit: btw u are a awesome pilot! really good lessons, thanks for the video!

Nice commentary explaining thought process

I fly the F4, G2, and G14 in “Aces High.” The F4 has a taller cockpit, but the G2 and the G14 are faster. My favorite is the BF109F4.

Excellent video! What for setting up graphics do use you ?
I use this: jagdgeschwader13.com/il2graphics.png and then I set Anti-Aliasing in my Radeon settings.
How do you get your game to render enemies so far?
I think I just cranked the resolution and stuff way up. Honestly it's been so long I forget. There's a graphics tweaking guide on the forums.
why didn't you outclimb the VVS? G-2 should outclimb all the fighters you had on your tail, or...?
nice vid which tracker u use?
TrackIR5
What do u think about facetracknoir i mean i have now good Setting its work good since Update
I've never tried it, so all I know is what I read online. It seems to work okay.
