- Many people don't like how the folding rear seats in w211 Mercedes Benz E class function. Many don't fold it properly. In this episode, I am using my w211 E63 AMG to show you how to PROPERLY fold the seats. I am also sharing a tip that ISN'T mentioned in the user manual which will make seating in the front much more comfortable for passengers.

Mine has the ski pass, I was gonna post a picture but can’t. I also have folding rear seats in mine. This video was very useful. I could unlock but the seat didn’t fold forward. I just went out and pulled super hard and it did. Thanks

Yes, both sides are the same. If you didn’t see the full video, there’s a trick to make the front seats move back after folding the rear ones.

In my W211 Wagon the rear sear release latch is broken and I don't seem to have a manual release handle in the wagon like you have in the sedan. Is there one hidden somewhere or is there a trick to release it manually?
Sorry I can’t help with wagon as it’s been years since I’ve driven one. Hopefully someone else can chime in.
Great tips! Lots of flexibility and very versatile but, I find hard to believe with all of Mercede's innovation considered; my E320 which is exactly the same and still won't perform any of these tricks absolutely ZERO. I think, I am going to cut a hole (Where's that Arbian sword) and there by make a ski pass through in the middle of the passenger seat concealed by the folding Arm rest/Cup holder/First aid kit storage.
Unfortunately, MB made foldable seats optional. It’s silly, I know, but that’s what it’s. I read somewhere on MB forum about someone who’s done what you have in mind.

Thanks!!! The thing with the front passenger seat has baffled me for years. I have an upcoming long trip where I will have a passenger and I need the rear seats down. I haven’t tried the ‘trick’ yet but I’m optimistic it will work. One question though- why did Mercedes do this only with the passenger seat? Obviously the driver seat cannot be locked but it seems weirdly, oddly inconsistent. Very Mercedes like I guess!
Indeed it’s quirky at times 😀 Maybe they were thinking that the driver knows what’s behind them but the passenger may not. Who knows?!

I have a Mercedes’ 2005 c230 but I’m trying to figure out how to fold the seats but I don’t think they fold, do the seats on the 2005 fold?? I really need an answer
Folding seats were optional, not standard in E class. I believe C class didn’t have folding seats at all unless it was a wagon. But I could be wrong. Do you see handles as shown in the video?

This is not a standard feature. It was optional. I don't think CLS had folding seats.

Pro tip: lower your front headrests first, sometimes they get stuck against the roof liner depending on original position
Mine adjusts itself as the seat is moved back and forth.
@@AccentOnCars common for the headrest motors (more so on 209) to not function correctly.. replaced many windscreens as a result
Did this but now bottom seat cushion wont lock in place (still a gap between cushion and back rest)
Follow the video closely and don’t be afraid to push firmly. Sometimes I put my knee on it and push a bit firmly.

The US models had isofix as standard. If your car doesn’t have it, you probably can add it, but must make sure it’s done properly because it’s a safety thing.
I have both. E63 W211 and V10 M5.

You probably have w212, right? Foldable seats are designed differently in w212. You don’t need to remove them as they back drops flat as is. Not sure if coupes had the option or not.
Can u also do this on a Glc 300?
Check for two handles in your trunk on the left and right side walls. If you see two handles you should be able to pull them to fold the seats.
Can thr seat fold on a 2013 E350?
It could if you had that option. Open the trunk and see if you have the same pull-up handles as I show in the video.
Does this work on a 2007 w211 e350 ?
I need to access the trunk, I accidentally locked my keys in the trunk.
If your car has the option then Yes, it works. But in order to fold the seats you need to have access to the trunk at first.
How did you fix this? I just did the same as well.
I did lock my keyes inside and trunk was open. Drop the rear seats the way you showed it and crawled inside to get the keyes. Saved me money calling locksmith or getting Uber to go home and get the spare key.

No, I had the plastic key with chip in the ignition and had the steel key left inside the vehicle. Usually the steel key is in my pocket but this time I was talking on the phone and forgot it inside in the center console.
Than manually locked each door because I want it to keep the car running with AC on. That is why only trunk was open.
After I open the trunk tried to reach with hands inside to open the rear seats or open the rear doors. But I could not do it. Than very important - Stop stressing out or PANIC and use your brain. RUclips is your friend. Saw your video and dropped the seats to reach the doors. Boom, saved money.

If your 212 has foldable seats option then you don’t have to worry about this step as in w212 the back of the seats falls flat without lifting the bottom.

Fun video, my Toyota Land Cruiser operates almost the same way, especially with the 3rd row seats removed. Also, I prefer to remove the headrests at the same time, less stress on them or potential for scuffs/scrapes or dirt to affect a highly visible part of the seat. Lots of cargo space after that.
Thanks for chiming in. Which gen LC? In Land Cruiser they could have made it easier? It’s much easier process in the next model year E-class.

Actually, folding seats were offered in w212 E63 (2010-2016 years). Not sure about w213.
