AliExpress Wheeltop EDS TX Wireless Electronic Groupset Rim Brake vs SRAM install & ride experience

- This video share my experience of installing and using the Chinese wireless electronic groupset: WHEELTOP EDS TX.
This groupset has two versions: DISC BRAKE and RIM BRAKE. The one I try is RIM BRAKE. Rim brake bikes now have cheaper groupset to setup as electronic 12 speed, so happy.
This is the official website of Wheeltop:

I saw AliExpress sells this product, too.
I have been using it for about a month. Compare to SRAM, the installation is not as easy as SRAM, also the speed is not as fast as SRAM, other than that, the groupset works fine, no issue yet.

I had the same experience setting this up as well on my rim brake Ritchey. Be prepare to spend hours figuring this out, but eventually it'll work.
Thank you for your review. And your patience with the front derailleur. 😅
nice review! Thanks for your effort.
Nice review and good bike build
Nice review.
Lovely bike 👍
excellent, cheers! I'm a bit tempted tbh
Thank you for a very good presentation!
Good job!
Very nice informative review sir. I have a 10 speed setup cable manual. It’s tempting!
Not being able to change battery sucks because its now a disposable group,Ill wait for L-Twoo to come out with a rim version,I bought 2 L-Twoo disc groups and they are awesome
absolut dealbreaker. I mean there will be a way to exchange it by destructiv methode, but it wont be rainproof after :D
"disposable" only in the strictest possible sense. It will last 5-10 years and for £400-600 (depending on where you source the groupset and when - I got mine for £370 on AliExpress on a sale with additional coupon discounts) how is that a deal-breaker?
@@JimIBobIJonesYou have link? How do you get coupons?
@@Jifflan I don't think youtube allows links?
i believe they batteries can be removed and replaced but can't confirm.
I really like that they use the same logic as Shimano on shifting the gears. Altough Sram is fully wireless but using the left lever to go one way and the right lever to go another way on the cassette and push both levers simultaneously to change gears on the front was always an illogic idea from Sram. Love this groupset. Seriously started to think to get one.
Sram's way of shifting electronically is totally logic, you just have to get used to it. With Shimano you have to pay more attention to hit the right button.
@@einundsiebenziger5488 Well, you can get used to mostly anything, even if its not logic. I've referenced "their" lack of logic to the manual systems. Only Shimano followed that. I prefer Sram's wireless approach but I like Shimano's lever logic. So actually EDS is the winner for me.
@@EllasPOSEiDONsrams shifting is much more logical. it’s the same methodology used by sports cars paddle shifters.
@@downbad9066 Are you cycling on a sportcar or a bicycle? For me Shimano is far more logical, dedicated shifter lever for one derailleur.
I love how sram shifts…really enjoying this groupset too though. But out off all the brands I like the way you change gears on sram. Although this doesn’t mean it the best.
excellent!
Very interesting
Haha, Uncle Cliff😅 subscribed and thumbs up!
With the front derailleur you should use the adjustment bolt
Does adjusting the FD to shift better mess up the auto trim? For di2 the FD will shift correctly and then adjust to the trimmed position, I wonder if EDS does the same or if it just goes directly to the trimmed position (which could explain the bad shifting).
Can this shifter be used with Campagnolo cassettes and chains and cranks????
Unrelated, but I really like your watch as seen at 7"45 ! Which model is that ? Thanks !
It is a Montblanc Meisterstuck with Bianchi Watch Band.

I am trying to understand why this over SRAM axs apex or rival?
6:44 - Were you actually able to change the values in this screen? I am not and my mech rubs in certain gear combinations. Thanks.
Thank you for assuming that I am unprofessional about this. Anyway, my objective is to point to the likely workmanship issue. I have installed all kinds of groupsets. Never once I stripped a screw thread on a derailleur. But ok. Be warned.
There is another model hydraulic???
I'm not an American. But I like to hear you speak and make the effort to speak a foreign language... You are doing good.
thanks for sharing
Waterproofing has been the problem for previous chinese made electronic group-sets. I hope this one differs.
Which files do you use on the front derailer for adjustment?
... derailleur*
@@einundsiebenziger5488On the front derailer…….in the app……which files do you use for trim adjustment etc….
seems the responding is much slower then Sram!
My big fear for this is that its going to get hit by Shimano and SRAM patents and disappear from the market. Shimano holds lots of auto-trimming patents and SRAM has patents around batteries on wireless derailleurs (hence lots of wireless groupsets having wires connecting a battery pack to the derailleurs) - both features this groupset sports.
What frame is that?
Its a hand made steel frame made by my friend as his hobby long ago...
