Nice stash ! I have this groupset for a couple of days now, it is very good ! It was paired out of the box, so I didn't have to go through that part :) The brakes are nice !! They mention "proprietary" setup, but the pads are shimano road l03a compatible, and the olives are identical to magura's, so loads of options there. I had the same issue with the front derraileur after I tried a "initial calibration" in the wrong position, it needs to be done in the BIG ring, otherwise it tries to move inboard more than it can, and gets stuck. In my case, I set the "initial position" from the app to the small chainring and the issue happened. After setting the initial cal to the big ring, it has been solid since. Fine tunning on the front is nice, but needed loads of trial and error ! 2 of the "files" are the positions for the chainrings, but the other ones are the values by which the "trimming" will move. So, to explain myself, setting those to '0, means the derraileur will not do any trim. I had an issue where the chain would rub on the big ring trimmed position, as it was moving too far inboard and had to reduce that. GEAR 3 is the amount of trimming the front derraileur will do in the big ring in case it occurs to you as well.
@PauloSerra Big Thanks for all your helpful comments on the TraveVelo and GCPerformance videos, about your real-world experience with this new WheelTop EDS TX groupset. Some really useful details 👍🙂 The video you posted showing the shift performance on the bike, makes it look pretty good!
Yeah I kind of agree. The brakes do look a little basic, and it didn't really show in camera, but even fresh out the box, they did have some small dents in them, they looked a little beat up tbh. Shouldn't affect the braking at all, and is totally cosmetic though.
Unfortunately with all electronic groupsets, it's a necessity. You can kind of get away without one on the L-TWOO eRX, but there would be no way to check simple things like battery life, or update the firmware without it.
As always a great video. One thing I wanted to point out however, is that the rear derailleur plates didn’t appear through the video to be forged carbon. They looked like they were made of unidirectional (UD) carbon. Forged carbon is generally characterized by chopped carbon fibers oriented at random angles. Those parts appeared to have continuous fibers that ran the length of the part.
Luke, when doing the full review of this groupset, please describe: - max sprocket it can opperate with (36 teeth? more?) - if it can be set-up as an 1x (so, to ignore the front derailleur, or to de-activate it independently from the app); - adjustability of throw / leverage of the shifters (for those with smaller hands). I want an 1x configuration on my road bike. Campagnolo & Rotor have some possible cassettes for that (13 speeds). P.S. I'm not in the camp to congratulate you on that mustache... but I'm curious what your wife thinks about it :)
OK cool, thanks for the comments, I'll try and get then included for the full review. As for the wife approval factor on the tache, it's middling at best 🤣
I wouldn't be surprised if you asked and found out the aluminum parts of the derailleurs are cast aluminum and finish machined, not fully machined from billet. Fully machined would be a LOT more expensive.
Hey mate, thoughts about the bug: any chance it was to do with your trimming of 1file, and setting it to 150 instead of zero? Would be great to find out why it just moved so significantly overnight.
Yeah possibly, I did try this, but it didn't bring the issue back. I racked my brain trying to recreate any steps I took to make the issue re-appear, but it never came back 🤔
Yeah sorry, the levels are a little bit loud, you're right. I'll try and get it sorted for next time. I always try and put a little something in the background, music wise, to fill the pauses and make it a little easier to listen to, but yeah I don't think it's always needed.
Here’s to hoping that all these teething problems these “high-end“ Chinese electronics have get sorted like Ltwoo did. Interesting way they circumnavigated the Sram patent on two identical batteries for the front and rear derailer. While it does come at a convenience cost, at least you can put this on any bike that has external cable routing. And top marks for them including rim brakes as an option. That’s going to make a lot of people happy.
As with everything, things go bad and need to be replaced. Not biking for 3 weeks or more because some parts need to come from China... I would rather pay (a lot) more and not have that fear/problem. As for this product: I would rather see a 1 year durability test *before* promoting the product!
The "use how many speed cassette you have " thing is a software thing that NONE of the big brand wants to implement. (Or unlock) At least chinese manufacturers are schooling them.

I've just bought it. Because there is rim brake option 🥖
They have had to stop selling the MTB version in Europe because of a patent dispute with SRAM, the original rear mech had removable batteries. You can buy the Chinese version which is lunfeng EDS.
This groupset infringes on at least four patents I've seen so far. It'll be interesting to see if they actually try selling these to certain Western countries and what the legal response from the two big S corps will be.
Yeah I'll def be keeping an ear to the ground on that front. If they only plan to sell in China, then they probably won't have too many issues, but selling in US and Europe is another kettle of fish entirely.
Hi Luke, EDS-TX: Saving settings: Advantage or disadvantage, allowing micro adjustment individually gear by gear is for me an advantage unlike AXS and Di2. However, can the configuration be saved for possible use? Sometimes, I use another rear wheel and its cassette to switch between road bike or gravel bike. Therefore, I would reuse the saved configuration (upload) instead of readjusting everything each gear. I believe that Di2 allows to save the "custom" configuration Thank you
Luke, EDS promotes 20,000 to 24,000 gear changes before recharging. However, it is not specified whether this number includes the rear derailleur as much as the front, the front consuming more energy for each chainring change (I think, 3 times more at the front than the rear) 24,000 changes represent a lot of km! Shimano and SRAM promote a recharge per x Km, which is not at all representative if the cyclist rides on the flat or in a hill! Making sure to have the batteries at 100%, it would be interesting to test (force) 12000, 5000, 10000 changements and finally get a real reference between manufacturers. Who will obtain the best performance, proof to support it. Thank you
Yeah I did notice this. I think L-TWOO have dropped their prices recently to compete, plus they have their updated version of the eRX coming out soon, so maybe they are trying to shift some old stock. But hopefully the price of this one will drop in time aswell...
It's about £491 in Malaysia. I was tempted to get one when I was on holiday there, but the price of the ER9 has dropped to £320. I'll wait for EDS to drop the price to around £350. It's pricey at the moment when considering the price of the 105 Di2 and secondhand first-gen SRAM AXS.

The big problem with the Chinese is that they never create, they always copy... And always with lower prices and also quality, safety, reliability... The products are cheap! But there are reasons...
This is not working with a 105-like crank. Hitting the front derailleur. It's stucking in 12 o'clock position (big ring + small cog) on my bike because of this little auto-trimming feature. (ultegra cranks r8000 same problem). And there are no issues with grx-like cranks with larger distance from the crank to the biggest sprocket. If it were possible to adjust the trim position manually, this could be easily solved. But this option is blocked in the application. Could you ask them to unlock the trimming position in the next update?
@tracevelo thanks for this! I am an consistent follower. I have recently purchased this and followed your instructions :-) I think I was able to pair the group but the FD shows a red led whenever I press the shift button and on the app it shows 0% even though i have charged it for >4hrs. Do you have experienced this?
It's quite pathetic that with millions of rim brake bikes out there that some companies have not bothered with that market. No one wants to replace their 10 speed bike just to go to Di2 and Disc brakes on a new frame. It is stupid and wasteful, this is why it is good that this company groupset works with Rim brakes.
Hey, love the videos! Any news on the testing on a bike? I'm currently debating if I want to get this one or the L-Twoo Groupset and would really appreciate any update here
Sadly they haven't made TT shifters.. 🤦 rotor, ltwoo, wheeltop all forgot this.. yes I know rotor did release one later (I was the one who made them create one). But overall.. they all leave it for SRAM and Shimano. A big mistake.

Good day Luke! I wrote to you with a question but I think I found my answer in this video. Just had to listen closely. Was looking for e shifting with rim brakes.
Sorry buddy, that looks like investment cast or (less likely) metal injection molded aluminum on front and rear derailleurs, requiring relatively little post-cast machining.
Let's all take a moment and discuss the fact that Luke has had to grow a 1970's porn moustache for some reason. Hopefully he's not having to work any "side jobs" to make ends meet. 🤣
Ok so I bought something I don not need and I am now in a pickle. Be aware that this derailleur will only fit in a standard mount hanger. If your bike, like mine, comes with a direct mount hanger (most Shimano derailleurs use direct mount), you will need to replace it with a standard mount to fit the Wheeltop rear derailleur. I am trying to find a standard hanger for my bike or I will have to return it, as it will be deemed useless for my bike.
Luke, you're looking more and more like a Keystone Cop with the 'stache. I wait with bated breath to see you appear with a pummeling stick and your theme song changed to ragtime.
Wow .. where did this come from, a Rim brake version might be a great upgrade to my older bike. Super well made video as usual, definitely looking forward to the install and ride test video.
Do you think it is possible to pair these shifters to their MTB deraulier to make a 1x gravel droupset? (+ you will get an option of changing a battery too)
Srem brand gear shifters are overpriced junk that cost as much as dry gold and the performance is so bad that I broke the gear shifter in an hour so much for junk that costs €1,599
Took me all afternoon to get this somewhat figured out. One question I have is do I have to set the upper and lower limit screw for RD? After calibration it seems to be doing ok and instruction isn't too clear.
I'M late to the game, but can you charge the derailleurs from a battery bank? Because it would be a deal breaker for a bike tour if you can't bring the bike in the hotel room....

From the same catalogue it seems er9 isn't getting an erx-esque update, but it also supports that same trigger shifter
Nice looking groupset. Great to see more chinese companies entering the market with electronic offerings
Slightly lower music volume please.
I love that someone tries to manufacture universal electronic groupset which can be used in wide range of setups.
Nice stash ! I have this groupset for a couple of days now, it is very good !
It was paired out of the box, so I didn't have to go through that part :)
The brakes are nice !!
Some really useful details 👍🙂
The video you posted showing the shift performance on the bike, makes it look pretty good!
The fact they make a rim brake version is a massive bonus.. would love to see you get a look at these as well
The finish on the brakes looks quite basic, the other parts look ok…
Yeah I kind of agree. The brakes do look a little basic, and it didn't really show in camera, but even fresh out the box, they did have some small dents in them, they looked a little beat up tbh. Shouldn't affect the braking at all, and is totally cosmetic though.
@@TraceVelothank you so much for covering these parts, I appreciate your content
Honestly, do you REALLY need to have an app?? Istg I hate having to connect to apps, and having to sign up an account or some shit like that
Unfortunately with all electronic groupsets, it's a necessity. You can kind of get away without one on the L-TWOO eRX, but there would be no way to check simple things like battery life, or update the firmware without it.
Not sure about the 1970’s detective inspector look 🤣
As always a great video. One thing I wanted to point out however, is that the rear derailleur plates didn’t appear through the video to be forged carbon. They looked like they were made of unidirectional (UD) carbon. Forged carbon is generally characterized by chopped carbon fibers oriented at random angles. Those parts appeared to have continuous fibers that ran the length of the part.
Luke, when doing the full review of this groupset, please describe:
- max sprocket it can opperate with (36 teeth? more?)
- if it can be set-up as an 1x (so, to ignore the front derailleur, or to de-activate it independently from the app);
- adjustability of throw / leverage of the shifters (for those with smaller hands).
I racked my brain trying to recreate any steps I took to make the issue re-appear, but it never came back 🤔
The 7-13 speed feature is wow 🤩.
Luke, please, don't use this annoying piano music next time. Holy shit this is too loud
Yeah sorry, the levels are a little bit loud, you're right. I'll try and get it sorted for next time. I always try and put a little something in the background, music wise, to fill the pauses and make it a little easier to listen to, but yeah I don't think it's always needed.
Thank you for your video. Just got the Wheeltop and couldn’t figure out how to pair it. Thanks to you I was able to get it done. You’re star mate.
Nice mustache 😏
Here’s to hoping that all these teething problems these “high-end“ Chinese electronics have get sorted like Ltwoo did.
Interesting way they circumnavigated the Sram patent on two identical batteries for the front and rear derailer. While it does come at a convenience cost, at least you can put this on any bike that has external cable routing.
And top marks for them including rim brakes as an option. That’s going to make a lot of people happy.
Given the wide range of cassettes it can use, does it also work with Campagnolo? Be great if it did.
It does look like it could be set up to use a Campy cassette
Don’t see why not. You can change the high and low limit and refine the distances between sprockets.
I've been following them for a while. I really want them to do a gravel 1x version
I had no idea Ned Flanders had an English accent in real life. He's so convincingly American in the Simpsons!😜🥖🥖🥖
Hi Luke,
EDS-TX: Saving settings:
Advantage or disadvantage, allowing micro adjustment individually gear by gear is for me an advantage unlike AXS and Di2.
However, can the configuration be saved for possible use?
Sometimes, I use another rear wheel and its cassette to switch between road bike or gravel bike.
Therefore, I would reuse the saved configuration (upload) instead of readjusting everything each gear.
I believe that Di2 allows to save the "custom" configuration
Thank you
Luke,
EDS promotes 20,000 to 24,000 gear changes before recharging.
However, it is not specified whether this number includes the rear derailleur as much as the front, the front consuming more energy for each chainring change (I think, 3 times more at the front than the rear)
24,000 changes represent a lot of km!
Thank you
It is currently twice the price of the Ltwoo erx groupset though 😠
Yeah I did notice this. I think L-TWOO have dropped their prices recently to compete, plus they have their updated version of the eRX coming out soon, so maybe they are trying to shift some old stock. But hopefully the price of this one will drop in time aswell...
It's about £491 in Malaysia. I was tempted to get one when I was on holiday there, but the price of the ER9 has dropped to £320.
I'll wait for EDS to drop the price to around £350.
It's pricey at the moment when considering the price of the 105 Di2 and secondhand first-gen SRAM AXS.
Came back to watch this again. I'm not one for blowing smoke. In fact I'm usually a bit of a c#@t to RUclipsrs 😂 but you're becoming one of my favourite go to channels. My only problem with you is.......I wish you churned out even more videos more often 🤷🏻♂️ not a bad problem for someone, who's admittedly a dick most of the time in comments, to have with you 😉👍
If you need someone to assist in testing I'm available 24/7. Send me yer bits and I'll get some opinions and videos back to you asap. You can put your own face and voice over any videos I send to you. I've no intrest in becoming a "face". I like my privacy too much. 👍
Dear Trace, could you make a step-by-step video on how to pair the group.... with the wheeltop manual I couldn't do it. GRATEFUL
Have you tried EDS OX for mountain biking? What do you think about this system?
I don’t know why it’s never occurred to me that 11/12/13/whatever speed can be a software setting on electronic groups. Kinda brilliant
I'm currently debating if I want to get this one or the L-Twoo Groupset and would really appreciate any update here
A bit pointless grouppo. For the same money I can get 105 Di2 with much better quality, reliability, support, battery life, lower weight, etc.
Sadly they haven't made TT shifters.. 🤦 rotor, ltwoo, wheeltop all forgot this.. yes I know rotor did release one later (I was the one who made them create one). But overall.. they all leave it for SRAM and Shimano. A big mistake.
Are there any hydraulic road bike shifter that you recommend. Currently have an mtb setup but wanna try going gravel . I have an mt2000 hydraulic breaks so hoping for something to replace just th3 shifters
OK, the porn star moustache is still there, but once I saw the lava lamp on the bench and heard the background music it started to make sense. I've heard of bike porn but this is not how you do it. Luke. 😀
Their MTB wireless received good reviews, Berm Peak made a review on it and it looked almost close to a SRAM AXS, hoping for the best with this groupset!
I just got my dts tx. Even though the bottoms feel easy to click/press I have to really press down to get them shift; my finger tips hurt! Is your experience the same?
Good day Luke! I wrote to you with a question but I think I found my answer in this video. Just had to listen closely. Was looking for e shifting with rim brakes.
Nice review Luke, thank you. I will save the APK and all related files to the app, just in case they patch the auto trim feature.
Loving the Ronnie (Irish slang for a tache)
Sorry buddy, that looks like investment cast or (less likely) metal injection molded aluminum on front and rear derailleurs, requiring relatively little post-cast machining.
Let's all take a moment and discuss the fact that Luke has had to grow a 1970's porn moustache for some reason. Hopefully he's not having to work any "side jobs" to make ends meet. 🤣
Waiting for the Shimano lawsuits to change the brakes and auto adjust gearing.
Not too enthusiastic, as prise wise comparable with Rival... removable battery, warranty and no patent issues
I'M late to the game, but can you charge the derailleurs from a battery bank? Because it would be a deal breaker for a bike tour if you can't bring the bike in the hotel room....
