    So this is what the company had to say about the shipping to USA:
    “As for shipping limitations, at the moment, we do not sell to the UK and USA due to shipping limitations. We currently only offer our products for sale in European countries. We understand this may pose a challenge for English buyers, and we want to assure you that we are actively working towards resolving this issue. We will keep you informed of any updates regarding expanding our shipping capabilities to these regions.”
    So we can hope this will be shipping world wide very soon. But next test is to build up this group and get some miles on it to see how it performs after long use and wear and tear.

    I got a set of this.
    So far it has been very good!
    I understand the price point comments about comparison with 105 di2, but this is really top stuff. The shifter ergonomics are awesome, and you can set it with Shimano or Magura calipers with no issues.
    The included calipers take Shimano road pads and they have a very good feel so far anyways.
    What I like the best is that you can adjust it for whatever gears you need, so if you later want to upgrade to 12, 13 or even 14 speeds down the road, it would be possible. (The accuracy of the thing is 0.2mm so it will virtually handle everything).
    With Shimano or SRam why do you need to change levers and brakes to change cassete speeds ?
    Makes no sense for me. The shifters are just click buttons, so why would you need to change everything to change to 12 speed ?
    Sure, there could be updates and the newer ones are better, but it shouldn’t be mandatory, so even this being possibly not to cheap, it could be in the future.

    • @DerekGreen123
      @DerekGreen123 3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the comment with your experience of this really interesting groupset 👍
      The Shifters certainly look really nicely designed (from this and other videos), so I'm glad to hear they feel good!
      And I wanted to know if it would work with my current Shimano Calipers (older frame with Post Mount brakes makes it harder to switch)... so thanks for writing that you think they work with Shimano (would save money too as WheelTop nicely offer a 'no brakes' upgrade kit!!)
      The 11+12 speed capability is super appealing to me (and I think lots of people), as I'm happy with my current 11S setup and don't want to upgrade just yet (but having the ability to in the future is great!)
      If they performance and reliability of this groupset pans out (and they work out UK shipping) then it's going to the top of my list!!

    • @PauloSerra
      @PauloSerra 3 месяца назад +1

      @@DerekGreen123 I got directly from their germany warehouse. No issues in the EU.
      My frame also has postmount brakes, so I understand your pain.
      I ended up installing the included flatmount ones with some adapters from Zrace, but I tested with my SLX postmount brakes as well, and everything was fine.
      ruclips.net/video/TXb6xcRF5SM/видео.html
      In any case, if you get it without the calipers, all should work and I do recommend using magura olive, as it's identical to the included one, so it should be a perfect match to the levers.

Made some clips on the functionality video too. I even have a bike crash to prove that it remained functional after a recent crash from a tire slide out...
    The known maximum chainring fitted is a 55T whille the largest tested cog is 40T from user feedback elsewhere. Officially the front supports up to 53T and 36T at the back according to WheelTop. ;)

      Shimano holds a patent on auto triming. They could force wheeltop to patch auto -trim out, which is why the redundancy of a second pad would be nice.

    • @ThisIsANameBruh
      @ThisIsANameBruh Месяц назад

      @@JimIBobIJones the single pad has nothing to do with autotrim. The front derailleur can be up and then move down or it can me down and then move up. That can be achieved with a single button. Or with two. Or with single buttons on both sides (like sram does).

    • @JimIBobIJones
      @JimIBobIJones Месяц назад

      @@ThisIsANameBruh Correct me if I am wrong but unless you have a shifter that goes into a "half" position like the mechanical Shimanos, trimming with a single paddle/actuator means you slow down your shifting.
      You can't go straight into your higher or lower front gears - you have to "pass through" an intermediate trim phase.
      I am pretty sure the Wheeltop paddles aren't analogue.
      Which goes back to I would much rather have a redundant switch/actuator to handle trimming in the (very likely) case that Shimano sues (as they have already with Ltwoo).

    • @ThisIsANameBruh
      @ThisIsANameBruh Месяц назад +1

      @@JimIBobIJones SRAM doesn't have trimming. Shimano does. Wheeltop does. If Shimano sues they're in trouble, they'll have to remove functionality. But you can still get a half position with one paddle. It's all software, you can, for instance, program the half shifts by pressing the single left pad and one of the right pads. The logic is again the same. If the FD is in the down position then single left pad could give fully up and then single left + 1 right could give half down etc etc.
      It will be a hackjob, for sure, but dual left pads are not necessary.

  • @5amba
    @5amba 3 месяца назад +2

    One button for the FD is actually quite clever.
    I never ridden Shimano, but the buttons for rear shifting seams intuitive to me.
    Would be nice if you can buy a one button version for both sides to copy the SRAM style up/down shifting.

    I like new tech and electronic groupset from China.
    I'm running Ltwoo R9 hydraulic levers on one of my bikes and I'm pleased with ergonomic.
    Those levers from wheeltop looks awesome, i like this shape a lot.
    Also.. it's more competition on the market and more options.
    So.. manufacturers in near future will have to try more to stay competitive on the market and that inherently benefits the customers.

What I like most is a number of things like fully wireless, its compatibility, and you can adjust the each cog in the rear casette for perfect shifting with no chain rub, I’m surprised that Shimano doesn’t do this, I have a friend that has the new 12 DA and he has chain rub on his 3 smallest cog but he can’t adjust each cog, where EDS can.

    I bought a set of EDS TX with a 13 speed cassette and a 13 speed chain , I am very impressed with this set , it is much better than SRAM,and Shimano , the micro adjustment is for each gear and it is about 0.01-0.02 mm shift that is from the front to the small disc, the settings will changeand the EDS TX kit remembers the settings for the small and large gears at the front image for the different gears at the back you can adjust the kit so that you can not hear the Gear Change at all only in the legs feel the change of tenure ,I am one of the few who now uses the EDS TX with a 13 speed cassette, I recommend this kit to everyone. the quality is very good, for this we can use this kit for the rear cassette from 7 to 13 speeds. in addition, it is much cheaper than a set of SRAM and Shimano, please try and see that it is a product of the highest quality.

    Looking forward to your full review Grant 👍
    If I had one REQUEST, it would be that you also test a 'hybrid' setup using Shimano Disc Brake Calipers, as this would be an even better value upgrade for lots of us (they're both mineral oil yes, but are the hose / olives cross-compatible, and is the performance comparable)

But I'm suffering with the limitations of 28 teeth in the back...the bike is still fast and super nice...I'm just looking for more options especially for mountain routes...Would you recommend the wheel top upgrade kit in general as a possible option to go e.g. for 11 speed instead of 10 speed and having an range until 36 teeth? I would highly appreciate your opinion. thanks a lot!

    Electronic groupsets need to start dropping in price. They have been out long enough. I don't understand the brands treating it like it's still new technology and keeping it unaffordable for lots of people. It's cheaper for the brands to manufacture electronics than mechanical parts so the industry needs to push these as they did with disc brakes and lots of other stuff. There is really no need to keep mechanical groups in production.

    • @DerekGreen123
      @DerekGreen123 3 месяца назад +2

      My only info on this, is from other internet comments/videos (so take it at face value)...
      - As I understood it, SRAM has a patent on 'Removable Batteries on Electronic Groupsets' (not on Wireless shifting per-se).
      - The early versions of the WheelTop EDS groupset (MTB and possibly Road) DID have removable batteries.
      - I presume WheelTop had to re-design the units after SRAM's lawyers got in touch ☹
      - The new EDS versions look like they battery is in the same position as it used to be, but fully integrated into the plastic/rubber molding (and therefore not removable by the end used).
      Additionally RE AutoTrim: To the best of my knowledge, SRAM/SHIMANO also share a patent on 'Automatic Trim of Front Derailleur'. The early versions of the LTWOO eRX did have Auto-Trim, but they subsequently removed it through a firmware 'update' (presumably under legal pressure). I hope WheelTop are able to work out a way of keeping the Auto-Trim feature available.

    This grouposet is very disruptive to the industry. The rim brake option offers a much more affordable alternative to the Force or Ultegra. I know the two are complete groupsets as opposed to this 5 pieces shiftset, but even adds the price for Cassette, Chain, brake and Crankset from Chinese manufacturers or mix some Shimano parts in, this still cost less than half of what Force or ultegra are asking for.
    The disc brake is less cometitive due to how much ltwoo is selling its offering for and the fact that new Ltwoo ER9 update has enable the ER9 to have 7-13 speed option as well. But this shifter set in disc brake form is actually what I want with Sram... No need to carefully handling the Dot oil while only have two hoses to run through the stem.

      The EU have a lot of upcoming rules which Ban Non-Removable batteries (in certain types of equipment, which may not include things like this). @@GCPerformance18Can confirm, I've ridden my Magene P505 with exposed power connector many times in heavy rain with no issues whatsoever. It's just a couple of exposed (non-spring loaded) metal contacts.

    maybe its just me but by the looks of it the build quality may not be on par with like the competition. Also i am thinking, I could get a 105 di2 for like ~1k €.. why would i go the chineese way?
    Not overly conviced just,yet. Lets see what it brings to the table when the bike built is done.

      It's reasonable to be skeptical of new products generally (especially after the problems LTWOO seem to have had with some of the early versions of their eRX groupset, breaking after exposure to lots of water! Which they are apparently addressing in the new Gen2 'Blue' version)
      But given how much engineering and manufacturing is done in China, I'd guess they will get it right eventually.
      I actually thought that the design and build quality looked really good (from this video plus other articles + videos) - those shifters look super nice and the derailleurs have solid appearance IMHO.
      If the shifting performance and reliability is there, I'd personally, rather pay 670 EUR than Shimano/SRAMS c. 900-1000 EUR. If nothing else, hopefully the competition would bring down the prices of the 'Big Boys'/

      @@DerekGreen123 to be fair the shifters look rock solid ngl, but there are some edges/lines here and there on the Rd for instance that look a bit odd. But that be indeed minor if the result (shifting quality) is pleasant enough. Price is more relevant than ever and if the product is good it'll get sold no matter what.

      if you can get 105 for that cheap that is good but hoenstly 105 di2 is still 2k for dealers

    Have to be honest: if the TX was mechanical and could work with 7 through 13 speed drivetrains then that would really be a game changer. But that would be more challenging from an engineering perspective involving an eccentric or somesuch that could be swapped out to adjust cable-pull. As soon as GCPerformance starts talking about batteries, charging, apps and firmware updates I lose interest. There are enough electrons and software in my life already and I'm resolved to keep my bikes strictly mechanical.
