Bingo. Jeff, Steve, and Bobby made this song. Jeff was a national treasure, and Lukather was one of the greatest and yet unknown guitar gods of all time.
Apparently this song is about Rosanna Arquette, the actress. The lead singer dated her for a bit. Toto has been a mainstay of 70's - 80's rock. Thanks for the react!
Actually, Steve wasn't the lead singer although he did sing a couple songs. He considered himself a poor singer, and mostly did backing vocals and of course, the keyboards.
It's not. David Paich wrote that song about the girls he used to date. He only used Rosanna's name because she would hang out with them often, she was dating Steve Porcaro at the time
She was dating the synth player, Steve Porcaro, but the 2 lead singers on this song were guitarist Steve Lukather, with the softer voice in first part of the verse….and Bobby Kimball with the booming voice on the back part of the verse.
As mentioned earlier, respect and love for iconic drummer, Jeff Porcaro. In addition to being a founding member and original drummer of Toto, Jeff Porcaro was a legendary studio drummer who arguably was the most recorded drummer in the seventies and eighties playing on hundreds and hundreds of songs. He played on numerous tracks for Steely Dan, Michael Jackson (4 out of the 9 tracks, including "Beat it" on the bestselling album of all time, "Thriller"), Michael McDonald ("I keep forgetting"), Boz Scaggs (all of "Silk Degrees"), Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Lionel Richie, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Bee Gees, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, the list goes on and on. Jeff Porcaro always played the song with impeccable timing and feel defining Toto's sound (also co-wrote "Africa"). The entire band where outstanding in their own right, but Jeff Porcaro's drumming was the heart and soul of Toto's sound. When you listen to a Toto song recorded in the seventies and eighties listen closely to the drums to really appreciate how great Toto is. Jeff/Mike Porcaro RIP.
This album came out in the early 80's and was a big hit for Toto! Rosanna and Africa were the big hits from this, but the whole album is top notch! Toto is a group of session musicians that got together to form Toto! Great group, great music!
Hi guys! Your reactions are pure joy to me (and clearly thousands of others!) Just FYI, you listened to the abbreviated version of Rosanna and missed out on an AWESOME extended and funky keyboard-led outro. Give that one a try as it ratchets up the satisfaction level for this song quite a few notches in my opinion.
You are so right, because on the outro,David P, Steve P, and Lukather ripped that piece apart. Being that everyone in the music industry, from Boz Scaggz,Michael Jackson,Earth,Wind ,& Fire,Chaka Khan, and many more calling on Toto for music, studio sessions, and definitely synth keyboard programming.
Love Toto, true pros, super talented people. That song came out my senior year in high school, loved it then love it now. One of their best, and that's saying a lot with this band - so many good songs!
The entire band were extremely talented artists. The drum part has been dubbed the Rosanna shuffle and is technically very difficult to play and get right.
I love this tune, thanks for playing it. We listened to it at the beach an entire summer. Its a great song. I loved it when I was just barley getting into girls. Its even better now that I can get into the message.
It sounds familiar because it was all over the radio forever. And still is (depending on the station). Guarantee you've heard it many times in your life ;) Won the best song grammy for that year. I just heard it piped in over the supermarket soundsystem two days ago. This song will still be pumped out into the ether long after we are all gone. It's just that good. Love your channel! You know a song is a hit when you've learned the chorus and are singing along the FIRST TIME you hear it :)
You just reacted to the Grammy winner for Record of the Year in 1983, off of Toto IV which received the Grammy for Album of the Year, the third Grammy was for Producer of the Year. Exceptional album!
Toto pretty much played on every hit album/song throughout the 70's & 80's.. Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie etc. They were all studio musicians who just got together and started playing their own music. The guitarist, Steve Lukather, actually wrote the riff for Michael Jackson's Beat It.
As others have mentioned the version you listened to cut the ending which has some killer guitar work on it! Absolutely one of the most talented group of musicians of all time... love your reactions!
This album won the Grammy Award in 1983. This song is about actress Rosanna Arquette. One of the band members were dating her at the time. Keep up the great reactions. You guys are great!
The iconic open to this song is the late great drummer Jeff Porcaro doing his version of the Purdy Shuffle. Apparently the record company told Toto that their next album better have a big hit or they'd be dropped from the label so Jeff Porcaro decided to kick out the jams for this one
These guys were all studio musicians before they formed Toto. Top tier musicians. They did so many recordings for so many artists. One being Michael Jacksons!!
It sounds familiar because you've heard it before. This song and album were HUGE.😆 Also Steve Lukather is a MONSTER guitar player. They were session players you've heard these guys on dozens and dozens of songs and didn't know it. Some played on the biggest selling album of all-time, Thriller.
The fact so many youngish adults haven't heard these songs, from reaction channel to channel just proves an internet search bar doesn't necessarily facilitate a better musical education. anybody over 50 knows this song and hundreds more from the several decades of popular music thanks to a force feed diet of radio. You can't search for something if your oblivious of it's existence. Well done on your journey of a broader musical palette guys.
Adam...you are spot on with your comment. As a guy who's pushing 70 with a damn short stick, I really appreciate that these two are bringing 'my' music back to the masses.
Nice reaction guys. Toto magnificence all the way. Pristine arranging and musicianship. As a very amateur drummer I've been trying to play the "Rosanna Shuffle" for years. Jeff Porcaro was the master.
If it helps the brothers of Toto were also half the 🎶 🎶 behind legends like Boz Skaggs.. Cheryl Lynn Michael McDonald Solo era after Doobie Bros) and the big landmark MJ's Off The Wall & Thriller 🎸 🎹 🥁🥁
I remember I was in a small diner one time with my father when this song was popular, and they had those little jukeboxes at the table that you could use to play songs. I picked Rosanna. Dad wasn't a popular song kinda guy, he was into bluegrass. It's still a good memory of mine. I can still smell the breakfast and coffee.
You 100% MUST watch this video, it's a cultural requirement. You guys missed the best part, which is the outro. The dancing girl in the video is also in the movie, Dirty Dancing.
Love how you're feelin' the groove! This shuffle/groove/tune is extremely revered in the pop/rock world! Jeff Porcaro was the shiznit! RIP. Here's one for ya though that I think you'll appreciate for the 80s/hard rock genre. The band...y'all ready for this... TNT! One of my favorites, from Norway with an American singer (again one of my top). SO many good ones, but check out the tune "10,000 Lovers". Think you'll dig it!
Damn, you two make a really beautiful couple, and you are such interesting people ... and 2 of the nicest, most down-to-earth I've seen in a long time. Now, of course I've been finding you off and on for quite a while, but I don't think I've even told you how much you are appreciated and admired ... and felt it was about time. Anyway, you should really try watching music videos more often, whether you want to see them do the thing or not. Either way, you still get to hear the studio sound. The music videos for THIS one in particular is really sick. The girl in it even resembles Rosanna Arquette (RA). Ok, about that ... and mostly because I saw someone mention the RA rumor here ... NO, it's NOT about her, but rather than go through the whole thing about it from memory, I thought I'd just lift a bit of the story from Wikipedia: As a joke, the band members initially played along with the common assumption that the song was based on Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Toto keyboard player Steve Porcaro at the time. Arquette herself played along with the joke, commenting in an interview that the song was about "my showing up at 4 a.m., bringing them juice and beer at their sessions." - Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosanna_%28song%29 )
Hi TNT, Oh man, it's too bad you guys didn't react to the official video to this song because it is an epic production!!! I highly recommend you watch & react to it because TOTO displays exactly why they are an "ELITE" Band!!!
Apparently ranked number one played song of the 1980’s….video to this song is awesome.Still around and killing it….2nd year now opening up for Journey.
As a joke, the band members initially played along with the common assumption that the song was based on Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Toto keyboard player Steve Porcaro at the time.
Very Iconic drum part from the great Jeff Porcaro...R.I.P. "The Rosanna Shuffle".
Yep fuckin Jeff
Jeff could groove better than almost anyone.
Jeff Porcaro's shuffle, Steve Lukather's guitar, Bobby Kimball's vocals, pure perfection.
Bingo. Jeff, Steve, and Bobby made this song. Jeff was a national treasure, and Lukather was one of the greatest and yet unknown guitar gods of all time.
The solo guitar of Rosanna give me chills every time
Drummers, like me, judge eachother by "But can you play 'Rosanna'?!?!"
💯💯💯
2 seconds ago I was just typing about how sick this drum track is! :D
Apparently this song is about Rosanna Arquette, the actress. The lead singer dated her for a bit. Toto has been a mainstay of 70's - 80's rock. Thanks for the react!
Not exactly true but named after her ruclips.net/video/3ve1yiqok7M/видео.html

I stand corrected.
My favorite part about this song is the synthesizer solo along with the guitar solo. Amazing work.

My favorite guitar outro of all time.
As an "OLD DRUMMER" I always loved the drums in this song. It was FUN to play !!!
Props if you can play the Rosanna Shuffle. That is a tough piece.
Every note is perfection. Absolutely glorious.
Exacto, gloriosos..
Love Toto, true pros, super talented people. That song came out my senior year in high school, loved it then love it now. One of their best, and that's saying a lot with this band - so many good songs!
Si, unos genios
Amazing band great song ...record of the year 1982
One of most amazing drum fills. That shuffle!
That's the edited version. You gotta go listen to the full version. Fantastic guitar solo in the outro!
They guy turned down the volume skipping the outro.
The entire band were extremely talented artists. The drum part has been dubbed the Rosanna shuffle and is technically very difficult to play and get right.
Im so glad that alot of you young people are finally appreciating good rock music
I love this tune, thanks for playing it. We listened to it at the beach an entire summer. Its a great song. I loved it when I was just barley getting into girls. Its even better now that I can get into the message.

Lukather did the awesome guitar solo in Ritchie's "Running with the Night".
The Rosanna Shuffle is one of the tightest grooves in all of music.
Yes , is thit's song s o n g for a rectile erectile destruction question mark
This one, Bernard Purdie and, John Bonham "Fool in the Rain"
Just a bunch of guys who played on dozens and dozens of super hits in a band together. First guitar solo I ever learned.
As others have mentioned the version you listened to cut the ending which has some killer guitar work on it! Absolutely one of the most talented group of musicians of all time... love your reactions!
Killer guitar AND piano - a jazzy little coda without which, to me, at least, the song feels incomplete.
This is top drawer music. Absolutely fabulous.
Nailing here .
More , please.

One of my favorites
Always love you guys reactions
You need to see this video Rosanna
These guys were all studio musicians before they formed Toto. Top tier musicians. They did so many recordings for so many artists. One being Michael Jacksons!!
Great stuff guys!

That's right..session players. That's why they're so darn good!
Steve is a beast.
The drum groove on this track is so sick.
LOVE that shuffle!

In 1982 this was everything y’all 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice reaction guys. Toto magnificence all the way. Pristine arranging and musicianship. As a very amateur drummer I've been trying to play the "Rosanna Shuffle" for years. Jeff Porcaro was the master.
I am laughing my butt off. When I saw the T-shirt all I could think of was Frank Zappa singing "St Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast"...right???
This is a fantastic song! The musicianship is top tier. Fire!
The video that goes with this is really great
In my top ten songs of all time.
“Hosanna”… love it
I remember I was in a small diner one time with my father when this song was popular, and they had those little jukeboxes at the table that you could use to play songs. I picked Rosanna. this was the radio cut. Check out the album cut with the killer stride piano and guitar solos at the end. It's worth it.
Awe man love this old song. Take me back to the 80s.
Oh nooo! You faded before the cool breakdown jam at the end!
Damn! Oh well.
😭
I'll Supply The Love - Toto
The Porcaro shuffle
Good one Connie Kat. This was popular back in the day. Tasha probably heard it somewhere before.
The nicest couple on the Internet!
Oh, my high school days, all coming back. We would blast their music and if someone had an ‘8 track tape” we were having a great night 😂
You two are music lovers , so you’re friends of this Canadian guy. One of the only reaction channels I watch .
FANTASTIC SONG!!!
I was surprised you hadn't heard it before...absolutely love this song!
GREAT ONE KITTY KAT
@@eddielovelace8551 thanks Sugar!
Toto are grown ass professional musicians!
This song will always be cool
Won a Grammy for this album
Bobby Kimball underrated golden voice
Great song but can't stop there: The jam at the end is one of the coolest parts.
oh you missed the killer outro on this song. which is just as awesome!
Love how you're feelin' the groove! This shuffle/groove/tune is extremely revered in the pop/rock world! Jeff Porcaro was the shiznit! RIP. this song was written about Rosanna Arquette
Absolutely love your reviews!
You should check out the video the girl dancing in the video is Cynthia Rhodes, the blond from Patrick Swayze's movie Dirty Dancing.
Swayze is in this video, too!
The song is "allegedly" about Rosanna Arquette who was dating one of the band members in the early 1980s
I was gonna say but I figured; what are the chances they know who she is? 😓lol
I think I smiled for the whole reaction, just watching you both jam out
Of course it’s familiar….it was on the radio everyday in the late 70’s. What’s that? Oh…never mind. I’m old.
Lol...me too! Proud to have had the GREATS for my growing and most of my adult life music entertainment , dancing and joyful memiries!!
Actually was released in 1982 and awarded Record of the Year in 1983, killer album!
OMG, you missed the best part of the song???? You cut it off-there’s a full minute or more left with a breakdown and amazing solo!
The song wasn't finished lol. There's a whole outro section thats about a minute long with some great jamming in it that you stopped before.
Y'all are always so cool, and truly enjoying the tunes!! You gained a new subscriber!! Best reaction videos hands down!!❤ 🤘
Love Steve...love Bobby on lead vocals!
It ends at the best part of the song>>>The piano and lead guitar outro..
You are probably too young to remember MTV but it was a great video that got lots of airplay🔥❤
I can not believe I forgot about this great song thanks for the reminder. Best part of the video is Tasha’s 🥰 reaction right here. 4:42
One of my favorite guitar players ever...Steve Lukather

I'm sure somebody already posted this, but there was still at least another minute and a half left in the song.😊
HEY YOU GUYS! 😊 THEIR HUGE HIT AND IT'S A GREAT SONG ( HOLD THE LINE ) 😊
Toto- hold the line
Y’all are adorable! Keep up the great work! 😊👍🌸
Smooth yacht rock.

You two are GREAT try some Peter Frampton do you feel like I do long version keep rocking
Maybe your grandma used to play this when you were still a kid so it sounds familiar hehe
Fabulous song and band!! “Africa” is fantastic!! 😅
That was an ultra short version of Rosanna for some reason.🤔
As a joke, the band members initially played along with the common assumption that the song was based on Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Toto keyboard player Steve Porcaro at the time.
I never understand why music reactors reacting to famous songs are always so surprised that it sounds familiar.
Oh man…wish you would have watched this with the video. Entertaining
got to watch the video
