    No one seems to have mentioned that the title of this song, Rosanna, was literally about the well-known actress Rosanna Arquette, who the keyboardist Steve Porcaro was dating at the time, Porcaro didn’t write the song lyrics, Toto lead David Paich wrote them, because Porcaro wanted a song about her! @GloryCarrier22: David Paich has said that the song was about one of his first high school loves, and he's also said that it was about "three girls I knew, all rolled into one." He used the name Rosanna, which happened to belong to the girl who "was going at the time with Steve Porcaro, my best friend", because it "just fit perfectly." After he met Arquette, he said, "I just stole her name and stuck it on there.” At that time, in 1982, Arquette wasn't a well-known actress. The band members have at times in the past expressed some irritation that Arquette claimed the song was about her. Bobby Kimball said, “It was just an opportune moment for her to grab the brass ring and run with it. She was just starting her career, and the song was so big that she went on several talk shows and said it was about her. But I can tell you that it wasn’t. David’s line was always that he just used the name because it fitted into the song. Then she came into the picture and claimed it.”

    Guitarist Steve Lukather did a "zero take solo" on the song "Running With the Night" by Lionel Richie. In a nutshel, Lukather was playing along with the song to get a feel for it. Unknowingly, the record producer already hit the record button. At the end of the segment where the solo point was over, the producer stopped rolling. As others have already told you, Toto was a band made up of LA studio assassins who had appeared on multiple hit records for other artists by then. This album, "Toto IV," won ALL THE GRAMMYS in 1982, including this song winning record of the year. And among drummers such as myself, this beat is a high watermark; if you can play "Rosanna," man, you can PLAY. (RIP to the great, great Jeff Porcaro.)
    If you want to hear them flexing their R&B chops, you really need some "Georgie Porgy" in your life. And you may not know this, but y'all have already had an extremely funky taste of some of their work with other musicians, "Lowdown" by Boz Scaggs - that's Porcaro and Toto bassist David Hungate laying down one of the GOAT grooves of the 1970s, with fellow future Toto member David Paich on keys.

    Speaking about the musicianship of the band members, I listened to an interview with Steve Lukather and David Paich and they were asked about the band's rehearsal habits. They said they never really rehearsed. They would just go into the studio and play and that except for the horns, which were added later, that the recorded version of Rosanna was the second take of the song and the instrumental section after the lyrics end was just them jamming spontaneously at the end of the song.

    The thing for me that always set this song apart as a classic is the very subtle, almost unnoticeable slap-bass in the chorus. Every single change and flair in the song is phenomenal but that slap-bass is almost hidden in the background but does so much to accent the chorus into the classic sound that Rosanna has.

    Their best song in my opinion is "I'll Be Over You" (Michael McDonald sings in it too)! Watch the original video.... brings back soooooo many good memories! Was back in NORMAL / HAPPY American life! I hope you guys react to that one. Also a song that one reminds me of every time I hear it is by another great band, STYX (called) "Show Me The Way"! I bet you'd love that one too! I have sooooo many of these (and that not too many are reacting to so you would be one of the firsts to do them), like;
    Michael McDonald: "Take It To Heart"
    Bad Company: "If You Needed Somebody"
    GTR: "When The Heart Rules The Mind"
    Paul Carrack: "Don't Shed A Tear"
    Jackson Browne: "In The Shape Of A Heart"
    Restless Heart: "I'll Still Be Loving You"
    Boy Meets Girl: "Waiting For A Star To Fall" (watch the original video but there's AN EXCELLENT 80'S MONTAGE VIDEO TO THIS SONG & IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN.... you want to get a taste of what the 80's was like WATCH THAT VIDEO) Its called: "Waiting For A Star To Fall: A Tribute to 80's Entertainment".....
    I have soooooo many more too! I'm truly surprised there aren't more reaction videos to these songs..... they're some of the best ever made! If you don't mind, I'm going to "copy/paste" this comment until I know you've seen it or I see you starting to react to these! I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO SPREAD THE BEST AMERICA HAD TO OFFER..... AND THAT WAS THE 80'S HANDS DOWN (my opinion of course)! I just think the more people get introduced to more happier/normal days in America and the content those times created..... just maybe we can start to move back in that direction!:)
