I love that yodeling she does with her voice. I had never heard a female do that before. What a woman and performer she was. I had no idea that she died in a plane crash so early in her career. So sad. Man, how many great ones have we lost to plane crashes. Makes one wonder if they should have ever invented the airplane - at least for commercial traffic anyway.

The force of Patsy's personality is so strong, so rich and humorous and warm, that she transcends time and death. When she sings it's like the RUclips screen can't even contain her and you expect her to step out into your living room and say howdy. Just amazing.

@denver - her stage presence and her terrific interpretations remind me of... Judy Garland. They sound nothing alike, but they both were incredible live performers. STORY TIME: back in 1959 Patsy was in northern VA which is where most of my mother's side of the family is from. She was at a restaurant when she spotted my great grandad sitting alone. She decided to join him and they became very flirtatious with each other. The next thing you know, my great grandmother who was his then girlfriend (now wife of 56 years) came back from the restroom. Upset at what she saw, she hit THE Patsy Cline in the head with her boot! To this day we give my great grandma a hard time and I always sing "Walkin after Midnight" or "Crazy" just to see her face turn red!!

Oh, Lord, I thought I would die
He'll do you, he'll do me
    He's got that kinda loving
But, Lord, I love to hear him when he calls me sweet baby
    What a beautiful dream
I hate to think it all over

    Well, I'm in love
I'm in love with a wonderful guy
But he don't care about me
Well, I tried and I tried to keep him satisfied
    But he just wouldn't stay
But now that he is leaving
This is all I've got to say
    I got a feeling cause I'm blue
Oh Lord since my daddy said goodbye

@kristien - She also had a very bluesy touch, in her voice and interpretations. Walkin' After Midnight could easily have been a hit for some R&B singers, i think. Black folks were playing old time, bluegrass - everything people wanted to dance to, in Virginia and the Piedmont. And probably WVA as well. I bet Patsy listened to everything she could, every type of music - even show tunes. And she pulled all those different influen es together and made them her own.

WHAT A TALENT!!! Patsy was one of the most versatile singers this earth has ever seen. Yodeling is incredibly hard (try it sometime). Her range is unbelievable too. Her final note in this song blows you out of the water so obviously her range is far greater than she's been dubbed (as a contralto). In either case she was a MEGA TALENT and there is no one today who can touch her. She was truly blessed with an incredible talent and thank God she shared it with us.

Floored by how incredibly good she sings. She makes it seems effortless, yet to the ear she slices and dices with stunningly expert vocal precision all the while. Too many superlative to list.
