This is still one of my favorite SCTV openings, but even then, it wasn't the same without Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas.

Actually, all three were in this intro as well.

...I was sorry when the Two Minutes Of Authentic Canadian Content, the Hosers Bob and Doug McKenzie left, but Hollywood beckoned all of them so deservedly in the end...

John Candy's rule as Johnny LaRue was the funniest character on SCTV! R.I.P. John Candy

...and don't forget the immortal Doctor Tongue or Harry The Guy With Snake On His Face! He also did a one-off character called 'Karl Bildenhausen' who threatens everyone with his Rottweiler 'Prince' as he goes around buying supplies for DIY work for a faux 'Building A Better House' daytime show - hysterical...

This is the season, in which they had a new opening sequence, along with live-action introduction of the cast members, and new theme song. as Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara and Dave Thomas left the show before the season started

There was a version of this with Moranis, Thomas and O Hara...they left midseason.

I guess I had just gone to college in '82, so I never really saw the last 2 seasons (TV wasn't big at my college). I never actually knew that by the end of it all, there were only 4 'original' players left.....sorta cannot imagine it without Moranis, O'Hara, and Thomas....

I remember this one, a little but the announcer was different in the one I heard.

This is not the way I remember it. I have audio straight from the TV that I recorded in 1982..ish that doesn't quite go like this. The peacock in the beginning to where the SCTV slides the NBC logo aside is there, but the voice over is different and he begins by saying.. "SCTV, now begins it's programming day...." Would love to find that video

That was a different intro which featured Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara, and Dave Thomas instead of Martin Short.

...all the intros differed slightly depending on what local network it was broadcasting on. I grew up in Canada watching it on CBC, and instead of the NBC logo seen in the RUclips recording above it was the CBC 'exploding pizza' symbol that gets shoved to one side by the SCTV title...

I remember getting to stay up late in early 82 and this came on after snl, I thought it was something like showtime crossed with mtv , that if I stayed up late enough this network would take over and show nudity and say dirty words.
