I'm a pro at this and the following, in my opinion, is the best way to get back to sleeping and waking up early. It's actually very simple. If you go to sleep normally at 3 am set your alarm clock for only a four hour sleep for that day. Start your day at 7 am by jumping in the shower then dressing up and doing your bed. Have your breakfast and you should have enough energy to get you through most of the day. By 5 pm, it's normal to feel tired, but DON'T go to sleep just yet. Do not drink any coffee or energy drinks and by 9:00 pm laying on your bed will feel like your in heaven. Say your prayers and before you know it, it only took a little will power with the right strategy to achieve normal sleeping habits.

Set 4 alarms (8minutes apart) and on the last one set shouting noises as your ringtone (I got a good one that I may be able to give you). Go see some light (the outside) immediately and then go get a shower (turn on cold water on the last 30 seconds) and again go see some light after doing so. Preferably do some light exercise and drink some coffee. DO NOT sleep throughout the day until the hour you want to sleep. If you get sleepy get out of your current too comfortable position and get out of the dim light. Go see the outside and the god damned light.

I actually did the all-nighter strategy. Long ass weekend, i tell you what. It pulled my sleep schedule back on the good side of midnight but not much more than that when all was said and done.
Summary: 1-Avoid an all-nighter 2-make your entire routine day&night 3-get sunlight in the morning 4-avoid artificial light 5-no caffeine 8 hours before bed 6-get enough quality sleep

No caffeine at all works even better. If I have caffeine at all throughout the day you can bet I'm not sleeping on time or it's going to take forever for me to get sleepy. That's especially true for people who aren't physically active throughout the day and have an energy surplus during the evening, caffeine isn't doing you any good.
Quarantine ruined my perfect sleeping schedule. I'm now wasted everyday, sleeping at 6am then waking up in the afternoon. (Edit: It's been two weeks from now and my sleeping schedule is fixed)
Okay, this is how it works for me: 1 Decide the day when you want to restart your body clock, planning and commitment is important so you can prepare yourself. 2 When the day comes, force yourself to stay awake for the rest of the day by doing tedious and tiresome chores. 3 After that, you should be feeling tired already. Then, sleep between 9-11 pm, this should restart your body clock pretty fast. (atleast 1-3 days of practice, but mine happened overnight)

That way you will have enough energy to go through the day without having a strong urge to sleep and you will also feel sleepy earlier at night than you normally do. If you do this for a few days you could probably fix your sleep schedule

As someone who used to stay up until around 2-4am every night, and has managed to shift my schedule earlier, I'd also add in the following: - Avoid your phone late at night: (A) it has the blue light issue you mentioned and (B) it can be a gateway to other distractions like texting, social media, etc. - Have a consistent night routine: In that routine, includes things that get you to relax and wind down (like reading, journaling, etc.). Having a consistent routine you follow every night will get you in the habit of going to bed right after the routine is over. - Think of any behaviors which are causing you to stay up late, and make a rule not to do them after a certain time: I already mentioned cutting out your phone, but depending on what your vices are, you might want to consider cutting out video games, TV, podcasts, or anything else that keeps you up later than planned. These are some of the strategies which have helped me start going to bed and waking up earlier. I hope they are helpful to someone.
My problem is bigger, im going to bed at 7am or 9am... waking up at 4pm. 5pm... and the cicle repeating itself for the past 2 months, some days I will try an all-nighter stay awake until the next day and try to go to bed at 9pm or 10pm, only to wake up at 2am feeling well rested.... and then it will all repeat again...

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that, my mental health has been terrible for as long as I can remember. I've been trying to fix it for almost that long. But no matter what I tried, it just kept failing. People gave advice or habits to form to make it better, but not how to implement that advice, or form those habits. For the past months since I found your channel I've been implementing the techniques that you explain and yeah, there have been relapses, but I am getting better. Things that I have struggled with for years are behind me. Even depression is getting easier to work through. Things that I though made me a bad person or a failure feel less like part of me and more like challenges to overcome. So, um. Thank you. Thank you so much. I'm going to turn on my low light lamp and go to bed at 11:15 instead of 11:30 untill I get my way back to 10:00.

But i still manage to go to sleep till 5 or maybe 6 am. So technically i manage to get an 7 to 8 hours sleep every night. But at about 2 pm i start feeling sleepy and tired as fuck. So i have this doubt that my brain (circadian clock) thinks that 1:30 - 2am is the morning while 2 pm is the time to sleep. I hope that you will be able to help. And the feeling i get at 2 pm is not that afternoon nap feeling, its more like the proper sleep feeling which people get at night. Fuck me. I never slept in peace, like NEVER. I've always slept so late at night even if I had to go to school /uni or anywhere. I’ve got ADHD so usually I will end up experiencing anxiety and the act of staying up late is often an attempt to find dopamine or address the things which are causing me stress. The latter is always in vain and both make the anxiety worse. Rinse and repeat.

No caffeine at all works even better. If I have caffeine at all throughout the day you can bet I'm not sleeping on time or it's going to take forever for me to get sleepy. That's especially true for people who aren't physically active throughout the day and have an energy surplus during the evening, caffeine isn't doing you any good.

Okay, this is how it works for me:
1 Decide the day when you want to restart your body clock, planning and commitment is important so you can prepare yourself.
2 When the day comes, force yourself to stay awake for the rest of the day by doing tedious and tiresome chores.
3 After that, you should be feeling tired already. Then, sleep between 9-11 pm, this should restart your body clock pretty fast. (atleast 1-3 days of practice, but mine happened overnight)

That way you will have enough energy to go through the day without having a strong urge to sleep and you will also feel sleepy earlier at night than you normally do. If you do this for a few days you could probably fix your sleep schedule

Great video!! As someone who used to stay up until around 2-4am every night, and has managed to shift my schedule earlier, I'd also add in the following:
- Avoid your phone late at night: (A) it has the blue light issue you mentioned and (B) it can be a gateway to other distractions like texting, social media, etc.
- Have a consistent night routine: In that routine, includes things that get you to relax and wind down (like reading, journaling, etc.). Having a consistent routine you follow every night will get you in the habit of going to bed right after the routine is over.
- Think of any behaviors which are causing you to stay up late, and make a rule not to do them after a certain time: I already mentioned cutting out your phone, but depending on what your vices are, you might want to consider cutting out video games, TV, podcasts, or anything else that keeps you up later than planned.
These are some of the strategies which have helped me start going to bed and waking up earlier. I hope they are helpful to someone.

My problem is bigger, im going to bed at 7am or 9am... waking up at 4pm. 5pm... and the cicle repeating itself for the past 2 months, some days I will try an all-nighter stay awake until the next day and try to go to bed at 9pm or 10pm, only to wake up at 2am feeling well rested.... and then it will all repeat again...

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that, my mental health has been terrible for as long as I can remember. I've been trying to fix it for almost that long. But no matter what I tried, it just kept failing. People gave advice or habits to form to make it better, but not how to implement that advice, or form those habits. For the past months since I found your channel I've been implementing the techniques that you explain and yeah, there have been relapses, but I am getting better. Things that I have struggled with for years are behind me. Even depression is getting easier to work through. But i still manage to go to sleep till 5 or maybe 6 am. So technically i manage to get an 7 to 8 hours sleep every night. But at about 2 pm i start feeling sleepy and tired as fuck. So i have this doubt that my brain (circadian clock) thinks that 1:30 - 2am is the morning while 2 pm is the time to sleep. I hope that you will be able to help. And the feeling i get at 2 pm is not that afternoon nap feeling, its more like the proper sleep feeling which people get at night. Yesterday i got to bed at about 2:30 pm thinking that its just an afternoon nap feeling, and i woke up straight at 6 pm, i woke up at 5:30 pm the other day after going to the bed at 2pm. My english was a bit broken sorry about that.

Fuck me. I never slept in peace, like NEVER. I've always slept so late at night even if I had to go to school /uni or anywhere. I’ve got ADHD so usually I will end up experiencing anxiety and the act of staying up late is often an attempt to find dopamine or address the things which are causing me stress. The latter is always in vain and both make the anxiety worse. Rinse and repeat.
