Hey everyone! Yes, all is well and I'm actually still alive. Whether you're an old subscriber or you've just stumbled upon the channel, you might have noticed it's been quite a while since the last upload. Roughly a year ago, I encountered some copyright issues, which made the channel temporarily inaccessible. Luckily it was all sorted out and the channel was made available again. But even with the issues resolved, I didn't create any new content for quite a while. To be completely honest, I fell out of the video creation routine and instead spent my time doing other things that I found compelling. Content creation was simply pushed to the side. I was still working on videos, but since other activities were taking most of my time, barely any progress was made on them. However, I'm now finally returning to revive this channel, starting with this video. I'm going to keep it on a smaller scale, so videos probably won't be uploaded as often as before, but I'm happy to announce that I'm back to making them regularly nonetheless. Finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support over the years. It means a lot. Yes, this channel is a goldmine. I believe this quote is from one of the stoic philosophers. Or then it's not a quote, but the message is the same. I find a lot of BTY content has a stoic flavour to it. Worth looking inte Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetos.

Comfort is so addictive for me. It's hard to even look back. I've been a hard worker since school till college and I went into depression during my college years just trying to be a good student academically. Now I've found a simple yet decent work. And I've been living happier than ever. A feeling I've not felt in a long time since childhood.
Same here.. After trying to run different businesses and school on the side, i got burned out.. Fell into heavy drinking followed by depression. To get out of a rut, I got a simple job that I eventually got really good at. And that's probably the happiest I've ever been. Maybe because my job had awesome co-workers, played a role in that too.
Since I was a child, I had so much responsibility that should have not been placed on my shoulders. As an adult, I had even more responsibilities. I am finally retired but I have to deal with medical issues that are serious and, likely, genetic. Any chance I get to get into my comfort zone, I will do it. After dealing with a lot of fake or toxic friends from the past (I don't have them in my life anymore), I did decide to not bother meeting anyone new or make any new friends. This has allowed me to concentrate on getting to know my current friends more than before. They have been good friends through the years and there is no way I'm going to bring people that could try to hurt me anymore. I'm no longer overwhelmed and exhausted. Even with my chronic illness, these are the best and happiest years so far.

I wish you don't have any serious complications with your health in the future. There is nothing wrong with finding a peaceful way to live even if it means not trying to work hard everyday. @@ab_0625 Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I know what it is like to do too much that it becomes too challenging, even when you don't search for challenges. Sometimes life, itself, is a challenge, so any time I can take a break, I'm not going to feel bad about it. I like to simplify my life here and there. Too many people think they have to sacrifice the majority of their time for "success". They add things to their super busy lives and never give themselves time to think and relax. They run around like the world will stop if they don't have a million things they need to do each day. It's healthy to take time to relax and ponder about anything or nothing, if they want.
There’s a fine balance between leaving the comfort zone and not inviting harmful levels of stress to enter your life. I have experienced the latter work-wise by pushing myself, which was counter productive in the long run
I feel you're taking about the philosophy of Wu-Wei and the act of non-resistance is a better path than "trying" so hard. Do you have any insight on how to balance the content here in this video and Wu-Wei? I feel like the concepts in this video are paradoxical to Wu-Wei, but both philosophies seem true. Its about balance and moderation. There is healthy stress, for example our muscles are put on stress when lifting and the grow from it. Same with the brain. Obviously you can go too far but this video is speaking to people who never do it.
The improvements need to be within "arm's reach" or 1%. Sounds arbitrary but over stretching can be harmful. Most people dont push themselves consistently or intensely enough to understand where this limit is.
I've experienced burnout for quite a long time and it was indeed counter productive. But it doesn't mean that I shouldn't push myself again. To avoid stress, try to break tasks into small parts and do it little by little, set a boundary to avoid thinking of what you can't change, and only focus on what you can change.
I'm constantly learning new things, stretching myself. Sometimes it's frightening, but mainly it's a great deal of fun! This is where the Joy is, for me, at least.

The area you want to be uncomfortable in, has to have some sort of a long-term benefit. Even though it might feel uncomfortable in the moment, I know that my behavior will pay off in the future. And only by entering the growth zone and pushing myself, am I able to reap those positive long term benefits.
After failing 3 times in a gym, because I was always in danger zone. I started walking. I love walking I can walk for 30 min daily & it's enjoyable. The key is to find the habits you really enjoy 😊

I've tried starting running a few times, which I thought would feel natural since I used to do cross country in high school, but every time I'd just feel miserable and give up for a long while afterward. But a couple months ago I started weightlifting at the gym and I've actually been able to make a habit of going biweekly, to the point where I actually look forward to it! And now I've been extending my sessions and trying to work in some more cardio. Point being, whatever it is, I completely agree that it's so important to find an enjoyable challenge.
i remember when i found this channel while doing nofap, 2 years later i have become someone very different, i am able to communicate in 4 different languages now, my health and physique becomes better, and my social skill is way improved. Great video. I might add that sometimes you’re simply stuck in the comfort zone because you can’t figure out the best actions to take to improve. Just grinding it out doesn’t always lead to better results if you’re not spending your time on the right things and it’s often useful to ask for help from a mentor or coach to get the results you want.
i've found efficiency is the answer when grinding in the workplace. it's drove me to problem solve issues that my predecessors could not. in life though advice from more experienced/wiser people might be helpful.
Absolutely. Some folks can be so close to their own problem, it can be hard to see what to do. Daily Journaling does help to create an elimination process, but wise and oft overlooked point.
The comfort zone shrinking is the reason why I left Europe to work in Middle Asia for a few years. I was noticing that I was increasingly afraid of the wide world, with its wars and plagues and catastrophes. I started to hide in my comfortable middle European country and was about to dig a trench around my comfort zone. Then I applied for a job 12 hours of flight away, moved there, found an apartment, friends, a new way to see the world. It was the best decision I made in the last decade, and it gave me back the world and the freedom to not hide in my safe tiny nest.

"... and you feel ready to improve again, you push past your comfort zone." rly needed to hear that. never thought about laying back and letting my comfort zone catch up before i improve again. i always thought i had to hold the plateau on where my first burst got me. i always knew i couldnt advance endlessly, but instead of taking one step back and two forward, accepting that i neednt push myself, i always tried to only walk forward, even if i didnt feel ready to improve yet.
This even applies to things like depression. Its like a big comfy chair that has my body's imprint on it perfectly, its dangerously comfortable and makes it very hard to getting out of it. Thankfully I got up from that chair a few years ago, but I am always staying alert and careful to not let myself sit down in that chair again, like if something bad happens to me, I MUST keep my head up and stay positive.
I shattered my anckle in 2019 and I'm not going to pretend that the recovery wasn't brutal. After 12 months I was still in a lot of pain and I fell into a bad depression but after 18 months I made a decision that I had to improve my body, mind and soul. I started with 30 min in the a.m and now after 16 months, I walk 7 days a week, twice a day for a min of 45 min each time. This was a long and hard process but I couldn't be happier. I'm down 30 lbs and hope to drop a little more. Just started yoga recently to improve so I can't wait to see what that will do for my body. What has helped me stay on track in simply thinking that if I don't do it now, when will I? When it's already too late? I'm "disabled" but I refuse to surrender.
Took me losing the comfort zone I built over 40 years to understand this. The real adventure started when I no longer had any comfort zones. Thank you for this. I love confirmations!

Fine line between this and putting too much stress on oneself. Nowadays a typical job is stressful, along with modern life in general. Don’t read too much into this and think you have to pull the rug out from under yourself.

I really appreciated this video! !! I reallly feel more fulfilment now: during the pandemic period I got uneployment and I felt desperate. I started study and setted small and long goals : learning play flaut, play croche, and knitting, and now I am studying French 20 min per day . I started work as English teacher, I'm Brazilian, and by pushing my self help to be more humble and comprehensive and help me struggle bad feelings!
So true. I stayed in my comfort zone when it came to typing. I just typed however I'd like it without paying attention to the correct hand position. One day, I realized that I needed to increase my typing speed as it is very important to improve the efficiency in my work. So I found a typing practice software online and followed it. It started with only a small set of characters and gradually grew to a larger set as you became adept. I can feel that my typing speed is improved after every practice, which provides me with sense of fulfillment and incentives to practice on the next day.
As with anything there should always be balance. I wouldn’t go so far as to say comfort will ruin your life. For some people their home life is a challenge but their work life might be satisfying. For some their work life is a challenge but their home life is a comfort zone. That’s okay and there’s nothing wrong with an element of comfort in your life so long as it’s in balance.
I love your videos. Thank you! You can tell you a few advantages of breaking an ankle from my experience: I'm a dancing teacher and would never have thought that I might be able to teach sitting. Now I have a new skill that will help me when I'm really old and still want to teach. I trained my ankles and they are now stronger than they where before. I also have a better balance. And I could relax from the great stress I was having and learned to accept that things also work without me. So, everything has a good side.
Started following your channel about 3 years back when I was still in college and when everything including my health and performance had nosedived . Then stumbled across your channel and it was really like attaining enlightenment , coz when still in school used to follow routines and habits hammered into me by my parents over the course of my life and it eventually became 2nd nature to me followed it subconsciously till 1st year of my college . Then when habits and routines changed everything went haywire . Thanks to your channel I quickly got back onto the right track and thanks for the numerous words of wisdom . Glad to see you back...!!!
I've experienced this in my studies , settling for average grades when I can achieve much more . I will try to challenge myself in the future. Getting out of the comfort zone is painful and bitter but so is staying in it for too long. And as the video states : there's no imporvement without challenge . So let's put an end to procrastination. 💯💯
Hello! I've been watching your videos for weeks since I stumbled upon the Dopamine Detox video. It's fascinating that you came back and uploaded a new one with a very timely message to me like you know what feel personally. I've been constantly burnt out and even get sick and then stay stuck in an unending cycle. I just realized recently that I have been pushing myself consistently at the danger zone each time I recover from being stuck. Now I am stuck once again because I feel so burnt out after trying too hard right away even when I was never used to it. It's like aiming for an A+ right away when I have always received C's all my life. I keep skipping the steps and attempt a huge leap that only makes me fall. I am trying my best to get back on track again and experience real growth this time. Because comfort zone is just a "temporary refuge but not permanent residence." Thank you for these videos! They have helped and inspired me a lot. Also, I have been physically sick lately and I really find difficulty getting back on track because my goals were ruined and was left with so much backlogs. It would be great if you also make a video about recovering your mental state after a frustrating season like this because I struggle a lot whenever this happens.

“Comfort” is the point of life in a sense. But due to not being aware; intelligent enough, (not necessarily having ability not to, possibly due to conditions too) we don’t act as efficient for maximum comfort*time as if it(general conditions- intelligence- awareness) was the other way.

@@evanfiend Some people, including me, need to be more industrious because there are real life problems that need to be solved. A plagued mind will never find rest in meditation, only when the physical ability to deal with problems, improves, then the mind can rest and be at peace. I think that you feel like this video played on your insecurities and maybe challenged your world view a bit. Meditation can do wonders, but it won't solve all your problems on it's own.

Your video really helped me today, immensely while in a severe struggle at the start of a year of work/ opportunity to develop my own new art style, after years of prep... but getting paralyzed, often wasting time on yet one more day of research, etc, before pushing myself in hands on work. Today, I was ready to prolong the agony yet again, wanting to sit down in the middle of cooking part of my food for the whole week, while having a bite to eat. But hearing this talk, I realized I wanted the cooking done & over, so I can bike/ swim at the lake today on a 91 degree day for exercise, & then do art all night. I am so thrilled for at least one step today in pushing myself. The cooking is done & over with no unnecessary break that threatened sabotage.
I think this is great advice . In 3rd grade a great nun told me if you have 2 choices - pick the harder one - that would be the right one! That was great advice through my life! Study, art, dance, and seeking the philosophers stone - like Harry Potter ! “ TO PERISH WITHOUT DYING IS TO REACH LONGEVITY” keep finding the hard hidden stuff!

Now, years later, I'm about to be a senior in high school and am still inspired by your videos. I hope you're doing well! Side note: I realized that I've been using the three methods mentioned at 6:00 too quickly. It affects my social skills even with close friends and my study habits for seminary and secular education. I had no idea what I might be doing wrong, so thank you for the insight!
Everything this video is right. I'm so comfortable being in my comfort zone and I'm scared of change. Because I have a bad case of anxiety and trying new things is scary. Like I'm afraid I'll made a mistake or I don't understand what to do. I need to pushing myself try new things. But, smaller so I can adapt and feel comfortable. Then hopefully I'll try push to bigger tasking. But at the time.

I really liked the fact that you covered the topic completely and not half based. I remember the times when I used to take on too much at the beginning and failing. For example, during the pandemic, I wanted to study a lot and get better a lot as well. Hence, I decided that I'll keep studying until I get there. Like, I didn't sleep at all, I didn't rest at all and kept studying all the time. This would go on for like 6 days and on the 7th day, I would have accidentally fallen asleep. Then after such a failure, I would spend 1-2 days simply crying and cursing myself for falling asleep. But, after all that crying, I would make another plan and try to complete it the same way again. This would keep going on for a long time. Plus, I also had that belief that we should keep giving ourselves pain, because that what usually occurs when we get out of our comfort zone. To do this, I would usually sit with thin clothes in winter, read extremely painful news of COVID-19 patients and about that of the injured ones of the war. I just believed that it's important to make mysgo through pain. Because somehow not experiencing those things would mean like I'm running away from reality or something. I don't do those things anymore. But, I still have that belief that if we are going to do something, then we better give it our all in doing it, which includes every single area of life, every day. I have a hard time just resting or doing something without putting my everything in it. Doing so, most of the time I end up with a burnout simply because of carrying day to day tasks. Then, I feel so exhausted and unfocused to do what I actually like and have fun doing later on. I didn't realise this pattern until I watched your video. Thank you for your efforts.
This feels only applicable to people devoid of stress, physical exertion, and eating only particular favorite foods. Most people already outside the comfort zone by working, being employed, and or being outside the house.
Studying requires me to get out of the comfort zone a lot. So I'm already doing the hard thing atm. We should also take care of ourselves and make sure we don't push ourselves further than we can take! We also need time to recreate and actually enjoy life. I've put myself oftentimes into an overextension, so I quit after a while. That ruins your life, too.
The title of this video made me think of something. It’s at for example if you’re comfortable on your couch like with social media and food you’re not gonna wanna do something else. You’re not gonna want to click off your phone get off your couch and go to let’s just say homework. Or go wash the dishes. You’re gonna want to stay there because it’s easy and it’s comfortable and the other task isn’t as fun easy or comfortable. I like what you said about going out of your comfort zone because then you can always go out of your comfort zone in regards to routine. Change your routine so that when you are on the couch you know with social media all your other important boring tasks are done. It also will allow you doing your scrolling on social more because it’s like a reward but also you don’t have to feel guilty or keep worrying about another task you have to complete thank you for this video😀
This video runs very deep. Though the examples are very simple to understand, it’s actually kind of mind blowing how this can apply to almost anything you can think of. I think this video really helps give a method of gauging where you’re at in any area in your life that needs more or less of your energy, and help strike a balance.
Being in the comfort zone for more than 5 years now and it clearly has ruined me. Being a school topper to literally zero. Think I ve improved a bit in the past few months from being not even able to read words correctly... Pushing harder. Hope I'll return here after a year or two being the same old me whom I miss so much.
This only makes sense if you care or are compelled to make the hard choices. Most people compartmentalize this idea of stepping out of the comfort zone. You can't step out for just a few minutes a day or do a task that is relatively difficult for you. That is nonsense. You will and should feel like an imposter. When you dive into discomfort, it must be a CRITICAL or FUNDAMENTAL part of your life that you are impacting. It has to be BIG. Or it really won't change you.
@@randolphpinkle4482 when you say comfort zone in what way do you mean? Because I've always did things outside of my comfort zone but it didn't necessarily work out the way I though it would. I feel this applies only to certain situations like moving overseas without knowing anyone
On the surface this advice is good, but as someone who’s been doing the hard thing for 8 years, (since I graduated High school basically) it has completely broken my spirit and energy. Despite trying my hardest I have failed, I am left with despair, zero hope, zero ambition, I just feel bulldozed Struggling for 8 years has left me feeling weaker than I ever have, burnt out, barely keeping above water My advice to anyone would be slow and steady, working and fighting for too long isn’t a sound strategy for longevity

They say when you follow a statement with 'but,' it indicates you are contradicting the 1st part of your statement. So I would just point out that the video included advice on not pushing yourself in a way that creates burnout or injury or other harm. Sorry for your struggles. I am an introvert who are struggling with social interaction and also lazy to do things because of depression. Thanks for this motivation. I agree, you cannot outgrow yourself unless you get out of your comfort zone. If you let yourself get out, you will experience new things that is actually help improve your life.
I accidentally found this channel, all my life I've struggled from wasting time, but I watched one video, it inspired me a little, then I watched several more, I was so exited that I decided change my life dramatically, I have done 3 push ups! Yes, it worth it!

Thats not to say we should ever do something that is absurdly difficult or get complacent when it comes to basic living....but at the same time, being able to develop skills in a variety of things and learning how to deal with failure is a necessary component of being able to develop self confidence and realizing that the sky is the limit if the right methods are organized and followed through with.

I thought I'd really enjoy my "Golden Years," but I found myself in an increasingly growing rut. I have built such a comfortable world around myself that every day seems exactly like the all the rest. But this video has given me the desire to go a little bit more outside of my "Comfort Zone," especially socially. From now on, I'm going to try to do something that makes me a little nervous or unsure, for only through facing down your demons can you truly find freedom. Not only was your advice well-supported, but incredibly positive. Btw, I found a lot of responders on your channel who totally missed the entire point of what you're trying to say. You're not telling people to be an "overachiever," or anything of the kind!! Another genius equated your entire video with "hurting yourself by working out too hard." These individuals not only misinterpreted the entire purpose of your suggestions. Again, I truly appreciate all of the hard work you've obviously put into this terrific presentation.
I suffered from agoraphobia a few years of my life. I had to push past comfort to the extent of severe anxiety attacks. The payoff was priceless. The battle I wouldn't wish on anyone.
I can relate. Started having panic attacks in the last 2 months, going out triggers me hyperventilation for no damn reason and I too wouldn't wish it to my worst enemy.
@@rubbishpurplelollies how I did it was by pushing past uncomfortability and fear. The voice in your head is a liar, your mind is made to have you take the path of least resistance. So what I did was I left outside of town, where the fear would begin. I would force myself to stay or visit somewhere I did not like. The spouse helped me most because I had no choice sometimes. If she wanted to go out of state it wasn't like I could stay home. After doing that for a long period of time over and over my fears finally went away. For me I had to know where every hospital was. After taking into reality they don't exist everywhere I had no choice but to alter my mindset on that

Yes, all is well and I'm actually still alive.
Whether you're an old subscriber or you've just stumbled upon the channel, you might have noticed it's been quite a while since the last upload.
Roughly a year ago, I encountered some copyright issues, which made the channel temporarily inaccessible.
Luckily it was all sorted out and the channel was made available again.
But even with the issues resolved, I didn't create any new content for quite a while.
To be completely honest, I fell out of the video creation routine and instead spent my time doing other things that I found compelling. Content creation was simply pushed to the side.
I was still working on videos, but since other activities were taking most of my time, barely any progress was made on them.
However, I'm now finally returning to revive this channel, starting with this video.
I'm going to keep it on a smaller scale, so videos probably won't be uploaded as often as before, but I'm happy to announce that I'm back to making them regularly nonetheless.
Finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support over the years. It means a lot.

Comfort is so addictive for me. It's hard to even look back. I've been a hard worker since school till college and I went into depression during my college years just trying to be a good student academically. Now I've found a simple yet decent work. And I've been living happier than ever. A feeling I've not felt in a long time since childhood.
Same here.. After trying to run different businesses and school on the side, i got burned out.. Fell into heavy drinking followed by depression. To get out of a rut, I got a simple job that I eventually got really good at. And that's probably the happiest I've ever been. Maybe because my job had awesome co-workers, played a role in that too.
Since I was a child, I had so much responsibility that should have not been placed on my shoulders. As an adult, I had even more responsibilities. I am finally retired but I have to deal with medical issues that are serious and, likely, genetic. Any chance I get to get into my comfort zone, I will do it. After dealing with a lot of fake or toxic friends from the past (I don't have them in my life anymore), I did decide to not bother meeting anyone new or make any new friends. This has allowed me to concentrate on getting to know my current friends more than before. They have been good friends through the years and there is no way I'm going to bring people that could try to hurt me anymore. I'm no longer overwhelmed and exhausted. Even with my chronic illness, these are the best and happiest years so far.

I like to simplify my life here and there. Too many people think they have to sacrifice the majority of their time for "success".
They add things to their super busy lives and never give themselves time to think and relax. They run around like the world will stop if they don't have a million things they need to do each day.

theres your problem, you did it with work.
Its about balance and moderation. There is healthy stress, for example our muscles are put on stress when lifting and the grow from it.
Same with the brain. Obviously you can go too far but this video is speaking to people who never do it.
The improvements need to be within "arm's reach" or 1%. Sounds arbitrary but over stretching can be harmful. Most people dont push themselves consistently or intensely enough to understand where this limit is.
I've experienced burnout for quite a long time and it was indeed counter productive. But it doesn't mean that I shouldn't push myself again. To avoid stress, try to break tasks into small parts and do it little by little, set a boundary to avoid thinking of what you can't change, and only focus on what you can change.
I'm constantly learning new things, stretching myself. Sometimes it's frightening, but mainly it's a great deal of fun!

After failing 3 times in a gym, because I was always in danger zone. I started walking. I love walking I can walk for 30 min daily & it's enjoyable. The key is to find the habits you really enjoy 😊

I've tried starting running a few times, which I thought would feel natural since I used to do cross country in high school, but every time I'd just feel miserable and give up for a long while afterward. But a couple months ago I started weightlifting at the gym and I've actually been able to make a habit of going biweekly, to the point where I actually look forward to it! And now I've been extending my sessions and trying to work in some more cardio. Point being, whatever it is, I completely agree that it's so important to find an enjoyable challenge.

Great video. I might add that sometimes you’re simply stuck in the comfort zone because you can’t figure out the best actions to take to improve. Just grinding it out doesn’t always lead to better results if you’re not spending your time on the right things and it’s often useful to ask for help from a mentor or coach to get the results you want.

i've found efficiency is the answer when grinding in the workplace. it's drove me to problem solve issues that my predecessors could not. in life though advice from more experienced/wiser people might be helpful.

Absolutely. Some folks can be so close to their own problem, it can be hard to see what to do. Daily Journaling does help to create an elimination process, but wise and oft overlooked point.
The comfort zone shrinking is the reason why I left Europe to work in Middle Asia for a few years. I was noticing that I was increasingly afraid of the wide world, with its wars and plagues and catastrophes. I started to hide in my comfortable middle European country and was about to dig a trench around my comfort zone. Then I applied for a job 12 hours of flight away, moved there, found an apartment, friends, a new way to see the world. It was the best decision I made in the last decade, and it gave me back the world and the freedom to not hide in my safe tiny nest.

rly needed to hear that. never thought about laying back and letting my comfort zone catch up before i improve again. i always thought i had to hold the plateau on where my first burst got me. i always knew i couldnt advance endlessly, but instead of taking one step back and two forward, accepting that i neednt push myself, i always tried to only walk forward, even if i didnt feel ready to improve yet.

This even applies to things like depression. Its like a big comfy chair that has my body's imprint on it perfectly, its dangerously comfortable and makes it very hard to getting out of it. Thankfully I got up from that chair a few years ago, but I am always staying alert and careful to not let myself sit down in that chair again, like if something bad happens to me, I MUST keep my head up and stay positive.
I shattered my anckle in 2019 and I'm not going to pretend that the recovery wasn't brutal. After 12 months I was still in a lot of pain and I fell into a bad depression but after 18 months I made a decision that I had to improve my body, mind and soul. I started with 30 min in the a.m and now after 16 months, I walk 7 days a week, twice a day for a min of 45 min each time. This was a long and hard process but I couldn't be happier. I'm down 30 lbs and hope to drop a little more. Just started yoga recently to improve so I can't wait to see what that will do for my body. What has helped me stay on track in simply thinking that if I don't do it now, when will I? When it's already too late? I'm "disabled" but I refuse to surrender.

I really appreciated this video! !! I reallly feel more fulfilment now: during the pandemic period I got uneployment and I felt desperate. I started study and setted small and long goals : learning play flaut, play croche, and knitting, and now I am studying French 20 min per day . I started work as English teacher, I'm Brazilian, and by pushing my self help to be more humble and comprehensive and help me struggle bad feelings!

So true. I stayed in my comfort zone when it came to typing. I just typed however I'd like it without paying attention to the correct hand position. One day, I realized that I needed to increase my typing speed as it is very important to improve the efficiency in my work. So I found a typing practice software online and followed it. It started with only a small set of characters and gradually grew to a larger set as you became adept. I can feel that my typing speed is improved after every practice, which provides me with sense of fulfillment and incentives to practice on the next day.
This dude sums up something so simple yet so complex in about 14 minutes while some courses couldn't in weeks.

As with anything there should always be balance. I wouldn’t go so far as to say comfort will ruin your life. For some people their home life is a challenge but their work life might be satisfying. You can tell you a few advantages of breaking an ankle from my experience: I'm a dancing teacher and would never have thought that I might be able to teach sitting. Now I have a new skill that will help me when I'm really old and still want to teach. I trained my ankles and they are now stronger than they where before. I also have a better balance. And I could relax from the great stress I was having and learned to accept that things also work without me. So, everything has a good side.
Started following your channel about 3 years back when I was still in college and when everything including my health and performance had nosedived . Then stumbled across your channel and it was really like attaining enlightenment , coz when still in school used to follow routines and habits hammered into me by my parents over the course of my life and it eventually became 2nd nature to me followed it subconsciously till 1st year of my college . Then when habits and routines changed everything went haywire .

I've experienced this in my studies , settling for average grades when I can achieve much more . I will try to challenge myself in the future. Hello! I've been watching your videos for weeks since I stumbled upon the Dopamine Detox video. It's fascinating that you came back and uploaded a new one with a very timely message to me like you know what feel personally.
I've been constantly burnt out and even get sick and then stay stuck in an unending cycle. I just realized recently that I have been pushing myself consistently at the danger zone each time I recover from being stuck. Now I am stuck once again because I feel so burnt out after trying too hard right away even when I was never used to it. It's like aiming for an A+ right away when I have always received C's all my life. I keep skipping the steps and attempt a huge leap that only makes me fall. I am trying my best to get back on track again and experience real growth this time. Because comfort zone is just a "temporary refuge but not permanent residence."

Also, I have been physically sick lately and I really find difficulty getting back on track because my goals were ruined and was left with so much backlogs. “Comfort” is the point of life in a sense. But due to not being aware; intelligent enough, (not necessarily having ability not to, possibly due to conditions too) we don’t act as efficient for maximum comfort*time as if it(general conditions- intelligence- awareness) was the other way.

A plagued mind will never find rest in meditation, only when the physical ability to deal with problems, improves, then the mind can rest and be at peace. I think that you feel like this video played on your insecurities and maybe challenged your world view a bit. Meditation can do wonders, but it won't solve all your problems on it's own.

Love this. Your video really helped me today, immensely while in a severe struggle at the start of a year of work/ opportunity to develop my own new art style, after years of prep... but getting paralyzed, often wasting time on yet one more day of research, etc, before pushing myself in hands on work. Today, I was ready to prolong the agony yet again, wanting to sit down in the middle of cooking part of my food for the whole week, while having a bite to eat. But hearing this talk, I realized I wanted the cooking done & over, so I can bike/ swim at the lake today on a 91 degree day for exercise, & then do art all night. I am so thrilled for at least one step today in pushing myself. The cooking is done & over with no unnecessary break that threatened sabotage.
I think this is great advice . In 3rd grade a great nun told me if you have 2 choices - pick the harder one - that would be the right one! That was great advice through my life! Study, art, dance, and seeking the philosophers stone - like Harry Potter !

Everything this video is right. I'm so comfortable being in my comfort zone and I'm scared of change. Because I have a bad case of anxiety and trying new things is scary. Like I'm afraid I'll made a mistake or I don't understand what to do.
I need to pushing myself try new things. But, smaller so I can adapt and feel comfortable.
Then hopefully I'll try push to bigger tasking. But at the time.

I really liked the fact that you covered the topic completely and not half based.
I remember the times when I used to take on too much at the beginning and failing. For example, during the pandemic, I wanted to study a lot and get better a lot as well. Hence, I decided that I'll keep studying until I get there. Like, I didn't sleep at all, I didn't rest at all and kept studying all the time. This would go on for like 6 days and on the 7th day, I would have accidentally fallen asleep. Then after such a failure, I would spend 1-2 days simply crying and cursing myself for falling asleep. But, after all that crying, I would make another plan and try to complete it the same way again. This would keep going on for a long time.
Plus, I also had that belief that we should keep giving ourselves pain, because that what usually occurs when we get out of our comfort zone. To do this, I would usually sit with thin clothes in winter, read extremely painful news of COVID-19 patients and about that of the injured ones of the war. I just believed that it's important to make mysgo through pain. Because somehow not experiencing those things would mean like I'm running away from reality or something.
I don't do those things anymore. But, I still have that belief that if we are going to do something, then we better give it our all in doing it, which includes every single area of life, every day.
I have a hard time just resting or doing something without putting my everything in it. Doing so, most of the time I end up with a burnout simply because of carrying day to day tasks. Then, I feel so exhausted and unfocused to do what I actually like and have fun doing later on.
I didn't realise this pattern until I watched your video. Thank you for your efforts.
This feels only applicable to people devoid of stress, physical exertion, and eating only particular favorite foods. Most people already outside the comfort zone by working, being employed, and or being outside the house.

Studying requires me to get out of the comfort zone a lot. So I'm already doing the hard thing atm.
We should also take care of ourselves and make sure we don't push ourselves further than we can take! We also need time to recreate and actually enjoy life.
I've put myself oftentimes into an overextension, so I quit after a while. That ruins your life, too.
yeah... too much discomfort and we end up with depression or worse (hopelessness). there is a balance between either extremes.

The title of this video made me think of something. It’s at for example if you’re comfortable on your couch like with social media and food you’re not gonna wanna do something else. You’re not gonna want to click off your phone get off your couch and go to let’s just say homework. Or go wash the dishes. You’re gonna want to stay there because it’s easy and it’s comfortable and the other task isn’t as fun easy or comfortable. I like what you said about going out of your comfort zone because then you can always go out of your comfort zone in regards to routine. Change your routine so that when you are on the couch you know with social media all your other important boring tasks are done. It also will allow you doing your scrolling on social more because it’s like a reward but also you don’t have to feel guilty or keep worrying about another task you have to complete thank you for this video😀

This video runs very deep. Though the examples are very simple to understand, it’s actually kind of mind blowing how this can apply to almost anything you can think of.
I think this video really helps give a method of gauging where you’re at in any area in your life that needs more or less of your energy, and help strike a balance.
Being in the comfort zone for more than 5 years now and it clearly has ruined me. Being a school topper to literally zero. Think I ve improved a bit in the past few months from being not even able to read words correctly... Pushing harder. Hope I'll return here after a year or two being the same old me whom I miss so much.

This only makes sense if you care or are compelled to make the hard choices. Most people compartmentalize this idea of stepping out of the comfort zone. You can't step out for just a few minutes a day or do a task that is relatively difficult for you. That is nonsense. You will and should feel like an imposter. When you dive into discomfort, it must be a CRITICAL or FUNDAMENTAL part of your life that you are impacting. It has to be BIG. Or it really won't change you.
@@randolphpinkle4482 when you say comfort zone in what way do you mean? Because I've always did things outside of my comfort zone but it didn't necessarily work out the way I though it would. I feel this applies only to certain situations like moving overseas without knowing anyone

On the surface this advice is good, but as someone who’s been doing the hard thing for 8 years, (since I graduated High school basically) it has completely broken my spirit and energy. Despite trying my hardest I have failed, I am left with despair, zero hope, zero ambition, I just feel bulldozed
Struggling for 8 years has left me feeling weaker than I ever have, burnt out, barely keeping above water
My advice to anyone would be slow and steady, working and fighting for too long isn’t a sound strategy for longevity

Maybe the thing you’re working on isn’t the right thing. Some things are impossible.
They say when you follow a statement with 'but,' it indicates you are contradicting the 1st part of your statement. So I would just point out that the video included advice on not pushing yourself in a way that creates burnout or injury or other harm. Sorry for your struggles. The only time you fail is when you permanently quit & also don't try to learn from what went wrong. I also seek God with me. Blessings.

I am an introvert who are struggling with social interaction and also lazy to do things because of depression. Thanks for this motivation. I agree, you cannot outgrow yourself unless you get out of your comfort zone. If you let yourself get out, you will experience new things that is actually help improve your life.

We all need comfort and peace in order to survive but at the same time we should still try to be curious and understand the world around us. Thats not to say we should ever do something that is absurdly difficult or get complacent when it comes to basic living....but at the same time, being able to develop skills in a variety of things and learning how to deal with failure is a necessary component of being able to develop self confidence and realizing that the sky is the limit if the right methods are organized and followed through with.
It's good to see you back. It does not matter if you upload videos daily or weekly or once a month. But I should say, whenever I see your video, there is a good smile on my face. Your videos are really helping us to do better regularly. Learning so many things regularly due to your videos. Your channel is one of those which actually uploads good content. I thought I'd really enjoy my "Golden Years," but I found myself in an increasingly growing rut. I have built such a comfortable world around myself that every day seems exactly like the all the rest. But this video has given me the desire to go a little bit more outside of my "Comfort Zone," especially socially. From now on, I'm going to try to do something that makes me a little nervous or unsure, for only through facing down your demons can you truly find freedom. Not only was your advice well-supported, but incredibly positive.
Btw, I found a lot of responders on your channel who totally missed the entire point of what you're trying to say. You're not telling people to be an "overachiever," or anything of the kind!! Another genius equated your entire video with "hurting yourself by working out too hard." These individuals not only misinterpreted the entire purpose of your suggestions. I suffered from agoraphobia a few years of my life. I had to push past comfort to the extent of severe anxiety attacks. The payoff was priceless. The battle I wouldn't wish on anyone.
I can relate. Started having panic attacks in the last 2 months, going out triggers me hyperventilation for no damn reason and I too wouldn't wish it to my worst enemy.
Any advice on defeating agoraphobia?

@@rubbishpurplelollies how I did it was by pushing past uncomfortability and fear. The voice in your head is a liar, your mind is made to have you take the path of least resistance.
So what I did was I left outside of town, where the fear would begin. I would force myself to stay or visit somewhere I did not like.
The spouse helped me most because I had no choice sometimes. If she wanted to go out of state it wasn't like I could stay home. After doing that for a long period of time over and over my fears finally went away.
For me I had to know where every hospital was. After taking into reality they don't exist everywhere I had no choice but to alter my mindset on that
