i absolutely love how human this is. you showed how hard it was, that you failed multiple times, that you had to change your plan, that even with the right plan it was hard. so often what stops me from trying to improve is knowing that just trying something for one night/day won’t fix the problem, and it sucks seeing a bunch of people on social media pretend it will. thank you for sharing the real process, and giving us all motivation

Jen, don’t rush or push yourself too hard. That’s what I’m always telling myself, when it comes to dealing with my weight loss journey. I can’t fix a problem that I’ve been dealing with for 15+ years to be solved in a month.
Major habit changes take up to three months! So, it’s totally okay to mess up a day and wake up late again, the key is to not let it bring you down and throw your progress away!

Girl I have to tell you, I hear your song counting sheep everyday at my job. I have no idea what station/playlist we use at my store but counting sheep comes up everyday.
Also this is what my sleep doctor told me.
Your bed is only for sleep, so don’t go in bed until bed time.
Go to bed and wake up at the same times everyday.
Once you go to bed DO NOT LOOK AT ANY CLOCKS, every time we look at the clock our brains calculate how much sleep we are getting, this stresses you out and makes it harder to sleep.
No sugar or caffeine after 8pm
If you can feel your not gonna sleep and your gonna lay there staring at the ceiling go out of your room and read a book (or smth that isn’t a screen or food) until you feel tired again.
For me personally I go to bed at 12 am and wake up at 8:30am everyday.
This has helped a lot. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better then what I was doing before

You are literally my motivation but as a person. As a girl that is only 12 yrs old and has big dreams that aren't easy to accomplish it isn't easy to believe in myself most of the time. I'm going crazy at how much watching your videos has helped me to see that not everything will be perfect and work the first time. Almost all the videos I've watched of "how to glow up" have never helped me. They always say "to lose weight, work out", "to get clear skin, start a skincare routine", etc. Those are always the essential things people say, but the hardest part for me is the process and steps. I never know where to start, they don't usually explain how to achieve and form the habit itself, and only address it. I'm only 12 so I probably shouldn't be worrying about this stuff but it's still something I wanna know I achieved when I get older. I can't wait for episode 4 to come out! You are so talented and people are very thankful for you to make these videos to help others (and yourself), including me. And for you to go out of your way to make songs about your process is also very motivating. Idk why I'm saying all this because you are most likely not going to see this comment but I wanted to comment anyway

Helpful tip: just take it day by day, you can't affect the goal but you can affect the process. if you keep saying "eh i'll start tommorow" (hypocrite haha) then you're never gonna get there. just take it day by day, don't stay up late today and that will already help tons.

I stumbled across this video on my recommendations and really enjoyed how real it was. I just wanted to say. There's no need to beat yourself up over "failing" your challenge. I took a different approach and allowed myself to stay up later intentionally and work on things from a list of things I needed and wanted to do and I go to sleep 9-10 hours before I need to be up for work. Self Improvement is also knowing what works and what doesn't for you and putting in effort and challenging yourself is a huge step on that journey. I look forward to your other videos following your journey.
Also, don't be afraid to confront your emotions in your journaling. It will be difficult at first, but it helps to be able to acknowledge how you're feeling throughout the day and to be able to get things off of your chest. You'll feel lighter as you feel more attuned to your emotions.

I’m gonna get my shit together like she did, and I will try like Jen because lord I’ve related so hard to this video.
You did good Jen! Thank you for the wake up call!

i love your glow up project videos. You are so real and honest and I love how relatable you are, I hate the RUclipsrs who only broadcast their “perfect” routines and lifestyles. And I love that you also include the trial and errors and what you learn and change to your needs and that you walk us through the entire process. It’s so much more than just “sleep earlier”. It really is a whole lifestyle change and you showing the true hard work that goes into it is so encouraging and good for people to see. Also you’re doing great! Self-discipline is not easy to cultivate.

I looove this series, takes me back a few years to the start of my journey (it's a path, many ups and downs). Two things I want to say :first, I love that every element of this videos is thought through, the story, the shots, the music, its very estethically pleasing and entertaining, but makes you want change too. Second when it comes to working out, I think it's a lot harder if you're working out for the sake of it and not for a reason(mine is improving my ballet skills as an adult that didn't do that as a kid). And also, vary what you do- cardio on some days, exercises for certain muscles on other, maybe some yoga... And make sure you have at least 1 non workout day so your muscles can recover. Harder to get in a rut working out if you vary what you do, and if you have specific goal. This is just my 2cents, of course. I love the series, hope the next episode is soon!

honestly, i went through the exact same thing and I'm still going through it but it all traces back to one thing, social media! Try deleting it for a day and see how you feel, see what new things you do out of boredom. trust me its worth it! wish u the best

back in summer 2014 i started going to sleep pass 4am and couldn't stop until january this year, i felt disgusted towards myself because i didn't even fall late studying or being productive, just being addicted to youtube and netflix. I'm so proud of myself for going against what i wanted to do, for good, all that anxiety and depressive thoughts decreased extremely and i'm in a better mood, more energy, motivated to do better. so happy to know i was and am not alone in this!

Sooo relatable! Thanks for sharing your reality.
Small changes I have made to fix my circadian rhythm when I habitually reach for my phone and scroll endlessly through social media: 1. Temporarily delete time-sucking apps like IG and TikTok at night to eliminate access to the scrolling habit. 2. Watch a nature scenic video with sound off (research studies show calming benefits in the nervous system when looking at nature, even through a screen). 3. Place phone on opposite side of the room so I have to get up to turn off the alarm and then force myself to go straight to the bathroom to put cold water on my face. 4. When consumed by anxious thoughts, focus my mind on describing my own body sensations (example: my head is sinking into my soft pillow, my nose feels the cool air from the fan, my hands/fingers are stretched flat under my pillow, etc.) until I fall asleep.
I love sleep and I dread waking up, so that part is still a work in progress.

I've had trouble falling sleep in the past few years and I found that listening to a specific sleep playlist with the same like 10-15 songs really works. I think it's because I can't overthink (like you were saying) but instead I have songs to focus on. I just put the playlist on shuffle and I'm usually sleeping by the third song. 😁

This is really inspiring to see from someone who makes such amazing videos. I feel I'm constantly comparing myself to people who are making things and seem so productive. But this is such a real peak behind the curtain to see that even people who seem successful struggle just as much as I do. Just because I'm struggling doesn't mean I'm a failure or i can't be like the people I admire, because they're definitely struggling too. Thank you for making this video with all your genuine thoughts and emotions, especially being angry for waking up late because I find myself doing the same thing constantly and wondering what's wrong with me. It's nice to see such a professional video mixed with real emotion ❤️

Sleeping early (and go in bed early) you can take your time to fall asleep. I usually have this problem that I'll not fall asleep for some reason. I also realize using phone or any device it gonna make you more awake (you may fall asleep but you woke up yourself again it gonna be bad thing).
Thank you for making this video Jen! I'm rooting for you!

Your video is so well put together from a production pov. I love how you showed that human side to overcoming a challenge, that it's not perfect and at times we fall short. I have the same habits and thoughts running through my head everyday, and you really inspired me to keep going even if I slip up one day. I also learned about the pavlov's theory in school a few weeks ago lol, and realise that I'm also not able to get up early because IT DOESN'T MAKE ME SALIVATE hehe. I'll try your tips and see how it goes. Thanks again!
