I came across some clipping of Chaise Longue last night while scrolling through youtube shorts and now Wet Leg is an instant hit for me. Praise be to the Algorithm!
@@dovestones i was bopping to this just now, then they went into the chorus jam for the third time and i was like, "now that i think about it they've just been doing the same thing this whole time. what redeems this song are the lyrics, until you listen to the rest of their ep. to be honest it all just sounds like "hey there i really don't like men here's a bunch of stories about how fucked guys are." It's like every song is about pretty much the same thing. it's pop, with a fuzz pedal, and AN AMAZING DRUMMER.
Way back when Rhian and Hester were just a couple of friends from the Isle of Wight, when they were two not-so-successful singer-songwriters working on silly songs to crack each other up, when Rhian was occasionally kipping on Hester's chaise longue (true story) - would they have ever even imagined the whole of Glastonbury shouting, "WHAT?"
You can see it clearly at 0:13 into the song. Rhian is very happy and feeling the moment because there under that big band name banner, she knows this song they are about to play got them to Glastonbury. For both of them, Glastonbury with their own band is a childhood dream come true. This is one of the biggest moments in their life.
In the full gig she fluffed a couple of times and Hester was with her all the way coaxing her and caring, its a beautiful friendship ive never seen two performers so close to each other

At 72, I never thought that I would be amazed again with another band; seen and heard it all, yada, yada, yada. Such a superb band, stage presence, humour and the reaction from the crowd is awesome.
Saw Wet Leg in San Francisco back in December, just 6 short months ago, at a small club with maybe 200 people. It is astonishing how fast they exploded.
Not too sure, but I saw them a month ago and it was a bit of a let down, beyond the 2 catchy tunes. I hope they can see that and work beyond the flat empty tunes.

Rhian Teasdale (aka Rhain) has performed for years as a solo artist. She said she found that stressful whereas for her playing in a guitar band is fun.

when you watch the growd many look like they‘re in a later stage in life and it makes me so very happy that they are out here enjoying life. It‘s also not surprising how on their official music video the comment section is full of people reminicing of their own youth hearing similar music in the 90s etc.
I saw them as an opening act, so a complete coincidence, I didn't even know they were playing but my god I loved them so much, and I'm now going to see them for the third time :)

This is a new band to watch who will go far! Great talents and pure genius… it takes me back to my student years in the early 80s…with the smiths, new order( ex- joy division), souxisie and the banshees, the cure and more… the tune overall, the vocals, the drummer what a set of stars together with all guitar supporters! British music arts are with good safe hands…Punk-rock lives on!

The moment I saw their live performances on the internet I thought they could be that rare instance of new acts that should already headline big festivals. They have that really fun and strong stage presence without overdoing it and that the crowd would be into.

When I see the videos of the live performances, I'm a teen again and jumping along. Unfortunately I didn't get a ticket for the concert of Harry Styles (Special guest Wet Leg) in my hometown Vienna on August 7th, 2023.
I'm 61. I usually listen to baroque music and consider Bob Dylan as modern music. But this is another level! I have now watched this video 5 times straight! It's so good! And to see the musicians enjoying themselves! Love it!!!

One of those songs you feel a bit confused by on first listen, but have heard enough Parquet Courts/Pixies/Sonic Youth before to know that you’ll eventually like it haha. I totally get why there are plenty of people who don’t like it. Just wish they’d accept it’s not for them and move along rather than trying to tell everyone how bad it is in the comment section ….

I love how they tweak the songs for the crowd and the venue. The five of them are definitely evolving and gelling as a group. Very cool!!!

Love this track, really infectious. One of those songs you feel a bit confused by on first listen, but have heard enough Parquet Courts/Pixies/Sonic Youth before to know that you’ll eventually like it haha.
I totally get why there are plenty of people who don’t like it. Just wish they’d accept it’s not for them and move along rather than trying to tell everyone how bad it is in the comment section ….
