Literally one of the most intense live performances ever caught on film. The crowd looks like a flowing sea of humanity. The band has them "UNDER CONTROL"! Insane!
Their live performance at Pinkpop 1993 is why I consider their debut album as the angriest debut album I’ve ever listened to next to Korn’s debut album which is ironic since both Zack de la Rocha and Jonathan Davis sported dreadlocks and had an extremely aggressive and venomously energetic on stage presence, not to mention both debut albums had distressing cover art.

There is alot of evidence that the f u attitude, hyper-individualism, and each for himself attitude is actually part of extreme capitalism and the system that is literally killing the planet and people. Social movements that have succeeded to change things for people had strong communities, strong sense of responsibility to others, sacrifice for eachother, empathy and trust. A f-u attitude does nothing if we don't care for each other, the planet, and work together.
@@mel3256 I made a mistake including" don't give a fuck attitude" because that can be interpreted in so many ways. What I meant was that if you are unhappy with your job life relationship, whatever, just pick one action that you feel that will improve your situation. See how I didn't include "government".Good luck with influencing politicians or even you become one, good luck changing the world as a politician. Even you becoming "rich" whatever that means, you can't do shit. In order to help your communities, you need some funds and that is where capitalism comes to play. I agree about strong communities and working as a community.

I was too young to attend this concert or any of theirs in the 90’s. Then when they reunited in 2007, I saw them twice. One at Coachella and one at Vegoose. Best concerts I’ve ever been to! RATM’s music will never not be relevant and will endure forever!
+Michael Garfat There are bands that just play music, and that's great, then there are bands that will deliver a message come hell or high handed governments. Rage Against The Machine is up there with 5 Finger Death Punch and System of a Down in my book.

Fun Fact: The producer heard them in 92 and brought the band into a big studio, put up a few microphones and recorded it. Killing in the name, and other classics were already set and done as we know them today. The infamous album recording was done in a few hours, but most noticable: The recordings were done while the whole band was playing at once, not recorded in sections or pieces and put back together. So yeah, he literally heard the band and went crazy. proven.

This song has the best dynamics of anything in Rock. Not ignoring the lyrics, racism is such a bad disease and waste of humanity. I can't understand how people can be that way including my late mom, aunts and uncles who were from the south. I straightened my mother out about it years ago and made her cry but she was a better person for it. De la Rocha really drives the point home. Wish they were still together.
Victor Draghiciu check out prophets of rage. Tom Morello's in it and and they just dropped a new song recently "pop goes the weapon." No Zack de la Rocha, but still amazing work.
Lmao, we did that, like 1 1/2 months ago(3 hours straight). The basist, drummer and the main vocal were sweating their balls coz they didn't have any substitute (the drummer and bassist sang for like 1-3 songs, I sang too coz I'm a vocal too, but I didn't really do much compared to them). And the last song was killing in the name.
Check out the Grateful Dead's fan made concert recordings at archive.org's Live Music Archive @ archive.org/details/etree?and%5B%5D=Soundboard&sin=&and%5B%5D=collection%3A%22GratefulDead%22. they can vary a bit in quality, but generally the fans who were into recording shows (allowed by the band) were also into really high end professional quality audio equipment. The choice fan recordings are those made with a direct line to the mixing console (aka soundboard)! Turns out audio engineer's can can be pretty cool too!

Yes but a big problem is that getting that type of energy and message amplified nowadays is not easy. They took people by surprise and the energy snowballed, no stopping. Same issues still exist but unfortunately music has become a medium for the masses to get over a bad break up instead of contemplate human inequality and get thousands of people pissed about it....and rage the fuck out doing so. Where did rock and roll go? Where did stadiums on the brink of collapse filled to the brim with people with two middle fingers up screaming “fuck the system” yet loving everyone around them at the same time go? I dunno, but it sure ain’t dead, it’s just sleeping.

@@K.J.S.est1994 I'd add NWA's debut to that too.

The confidence, stage presence, and his "don't give a fuck attitude" is what we need in western society.
Only mistake in the performance is the backup singer should have just let the crowd sing: "now you do what they told you" and he could reply "and now you're under control". My only gripe. :)

@@mel3256 Does Rage Against The Machine's net worth qualify as "extreme capitalism"?
its amazing that a song that basically has about 8 lyrics can be this meaningful and impactful, its the definition of music.
It is not. Music itself carries the message as it applies to the individual listener. Using music to push your political beliefs is disgusting.

Just imagine being the producer in the studio hearing this for the very first time :-0
Fun Fact: The producer heard them in 92 and brought the band into a big studio, put up a few microphones and recorded it. Killing in the name, and other classics were already set and done as we know them today. The infamous album recording was done in a few hours, but most noticable: The recordings were done while the whole band was playing at once, not recorded in sections or pieces and put back together.

Is noone else fascinated by the quality of sound? Most concerts from back then sound like a casette that was recorded over and over again
Peter Madden More exciting than banana pudding and the weather channel?
To write a song repeating the same 4 lines over and over...?
