I've always believed the real racists are those who view everything through a prism of race or racism. They see it everywhere because they want to see it everywhere. They are defacto racists. In several videos by Dayo that I have watched, I never felt he was "playing the race card" or "playing the victim". I definitely appreciate him for that professionalism. Perhaps those who constantly see a racist before them should turn away from the mirror.

It's because big reviewers have more importance. If Google gave MKBHD got a review phone, I am pretty sure they would give him one that would work perfectly. At least Ayo will give you the perspective of a normal consumer. I wouldn't mind buying a Pixel phone but it seems like there are quite a few users who always have an issue with Pixel phones. Either issue with cameras, fingerprint scanner issues, or some Pixel how color issues with the display. Google has never made its own phones. They changed partnerships every few years. In the last few years, Foxconn made its phones. Google had other companies like HTC, Samsung, Huawei, and LG make their phones in the past. With so many switches how can you expect any company could make a good smartphone for Google?

    • @tamwilfred
      @tamwilfred Год назад +1

@@Dannyblazer1985 If Google is serious about hardware then they should just make the jump and commit to one manufacturer, buy a smartphone division, or start their own. I don't know if HTC is still around, but they would have been a good company to buy. The funny thing is that Google bought Motorola Mobile in 2011 but sold it in 2014. I think they had a Nexus tablet and the phone was made by Motorola. But I always felt that Google never made their smartphones a priority. They never sold well. I only own the Pixel 3 but other than that it's hard to make a compelling argument to get the pixel compared to a Samsung.

@@elisamuelpedraza8228lmao what does his usage of apple products have anything to do with sharing his personal experience about the Pixel? You are making 0 sense. Just because you had a flawless experience with your Pixel does not mean that EVERYONE has a great experience. Do you know how many friends I met so far that had several issues with their iPhone 14 pro (Ik it sounds ludicrous but it's true)? Horrible battery drain and overheating mess was what they told me, and they've been a lifetime iPhone user. Apple is quite well known for their overall good optimization with their hardware & software, but clearly, not everyone has the same experience. Quality control is a thing and some people may get a lemon (which in this case, it's Dayo). You are typing this comment because you are butthurt that someone is calling out on a product that you love and had no issues with. If you encountered no issues with your Pixel, great. Just like how you are saying "i'Ve hAD a fLaWlEss eXpEriEncE", Dayo is simply sharing his experience with his own device. Questing someone's integrity based on what other stuff he use in the background sounds like a very "good" judgement to me 😂😂😂. If you are going to call out someone for something, make sure it's based on facts, not opinion-based.

While I haven't had any of these issues, I really like how you are shedding light to how this RMA process is awful. It is making me super fortunate that I haven't had to deal with getting a lemon device from Google. Honestly, considering that you just got the device, I would have assumed they would have shipped you a brand new device again. Having those kinds of issues right off the back should warrant a new device.

    • @christopherzube551
      @christopherzube551 Год назад +11

I'm not trying to defend google however in their fine print in the warranty paper work that is in your original brand new phone box that it comes in states that in case theor is a need to return due to defects hardware wise to the phone, they reserve the right to ship a renewed device if they are in stock at any of their refurbishing places. If their is no refurbished devices available then that's when they send a brand new one. Usually in the first 5 months if their is an issue and wasn't because of the purchasers fault they will send a new one. A brand new one will always come with its own box even if you still have the original box from the last one. If it doesn't come with its own box then it's a renewed device. Apple is the same way as well as Samsung.

@Tj Gienger the fact that the screen shows that message when trying to add a fingerprint to the phone shows that the screen has been replaced, but the company didn't recalibrate the screen for the fingerprint scanner. The only time that message pops up is if the screen was replaced, and was the same issue as the pixel 6 and pixel 6 pro. Technically it is referred to as refurbished, but the company that does the work just didnt do a good job putting it back together. However the volume control button has popped out on some people with the pixel 7 pro without them needing any service which is a big problem for google quality control. It also doesn't look good on Google if the 3rd party businesses do a crappy renewing them, especially when it has been going on for a while.

@Dennis Schmitz my pixel 6 pro did have wifi issues in the beginning but after a couple updates that was fixed for me. However I didn't have any Bluetooth or wifi issues with the 7 pro. Not saying their isn't, but I didn't have those kind of issues. However I definitely wish that Google would go back to snapdragon chip sets. I understand why they wanted to move to their custom chip, but their is a reason why Samsung decided to quit with the exynos chips and stick with snapdragon. Till this day the pixel 4xl and 5 are my favorite pixel devices. Pixel 4xl is in my view the best one they made, but not everybody feels that way. I just wish they kept the face unlock from the p4xl and used it on the rest of the pixel lineups

My Nexus 7 was the similar. It had severe issues during second year (charging extremely slow, like 12 hours slow, heating up a lot), went to RMA, they said it was decent. To be fair it was Asus-Google product and Asus RMA has always been terrible, but that product was also partly Google's, so yeah... Needless to say I have been reading about later devices from Google and you could find a lot of people with terrible quality issues and Google doing fuck all to engineer their stuff to be functional and RMA not being a complete joke. And I thought that Pixel line-up might be their own fresh start, but nope, it was same old shit with Pixel 2 series being the worst offender up until Pixel 7 series. At this point, I just silently boycott Google's products and advise others against them. To be fair, even Google's software products are a bit on decline.

Firstly, thank you for your honest reviews, it's very appreciated and keep up the great content!
Secondly, I wanted to share my recent experience with my Google Pixel 7 needing to be fixed.
The key word "fixed" is what I'd like to shed light on.
When I presented my issue to the Google support rep, it was a faulty fingerprint sensor, their first suggestion to me was a repair. The one you mentioned in your video, ie. The dreaded 3rd party repair depot.
So I simply said no to their offer to repair. Instead I asked for a replacement or exchange. After asking me to hold for 3 minutes while they consulted their support team, they returned quickly to advise me of some good news they had for me. They agreed to have me first ship my device to them and then send a new replacement after receiving the defective unit
I should also mention that I didn't buy my device directly from the Google Play store but rather from a retailer.
So I'm hoping that you might give google one last chance to truly Replace your unit with a new one, and by insisting NO Repair thank you Google!

I'm going to Italy for my masters degree and since there is no pixels in my home country, I was excited to buy one in Italy after a horrible experience with an exynos 990 s20 fe. @@dolsimon The snapdragon one is one o the best phones you can buy at that price. My version (exynos) gives me from 2 to 4 hours of SoT, maximum. God forbid if you use it outside without wifi, the battery drain is insane. Overheats to the point of having to play every game on the lowest settings possible, even scrolling through reels on instagram makes it hot. Its constantly warm, and its very laggy thanks to the inferior chip. Good video. I really appreciate you shedding light on your issues w the Pixel series. I keep hearing raving reviews about it as I'm on the verge of getting a new phone. I was on the verge of defending Google as a lot of the custom rom/rooting community seem to defend them for that. The apps I use are pretty standard (Instagram/FB Messenger/Whatsapp etc) . I'm considering a Oneplus or Sony (I had a Oneplus 9 before and Apple phones but Apple has its weird app policies & lack of USB C). At least with Oneplus/Samsung/Sony & Apple you can get a hold of someone & voice your concerns. Part of me really wants to give Google the benefit of doubt but I keep hearing about things esp the over heating and the users put up with it. I can't name another brand except Samsung that had issues with it's older series of phones that has these issues. . The tracking is what I dislike to. Don't like it from Meta but equally from Google.

It's such a love/hate thing with the Pixel 7 Pro.
I love the cleanliness of stock Android. I love the inferface, I love certain little quirks that you get with Google phones you just don't get with other Android phones (and iOS, but that's a whole different ball game). I love the camera (when it's not melting your hand off, that is).
I DON'T love the overheating and the insane battery drain. Just browsing FB or watching RUclips videos, this thing gets HOT. Using it outside in the sunshine, it gets even warmer. Take a few photos, and you're getting in to uncomfortably hot territory, especially that pretty (although impractical) camera module.
Bizarrely, my partner also has the 7Pro, he got his a week or so before I got mine, in fact, it was the awesomeness of his phone that encouraged me to get mine. His doesn't get hot at all, and he gets awesome battery life. Not the same experience here. We are both on the same network, both have the same phone storage and model - just different colours.
I so want to love this phone, and in many ways I do - but ultimately, the Tensor chip, based on Samsung's in-house Exynos framework, is always going to have terrible heat management and battery life. I'm in the UK, so I've endured some years of Exynos Samsung phones, and they've ALL suffered from lag, overheating and bad battery management. The S23 series was the first time that all markets got the Snapdragon chips in the phones, and oh my word, the difference was astounding. I had the S23 Ultra before this Pixel 7 Pro, and the software and hardware experiences were both fantastic. As was power and battery management. No overheating! No lag! No battery issues (was getting 2 days mod-to-heavy usage out of an S23U single charge). Sadly the S23U was too big and too heavy for me, too cumbersome to hold, and not exciting enough, otherwise I'd have probably kept it.
But whilst the Pixel phones are running on Samsung's inferior chip technology, they are always going to have these issues. That's fact, unfortunately. Before the S23U I had the iPhone 14 Pro, and there's something of the beautiful design language and seamless software experience that Apple share with Google. It's the hardware that lets the Pixel brand down.
Conversely, I've got the Pixel Watch, and it's amazing, and I'm not having the battery life problems with it that other users seem to have. It seems to be really hit-and-miss with Google quality control!

The range of issues span across similar issues in your journey and more with the older models as they started to age. The flagship Pixel phones tho work much better for me when I only use it for work, and then shut it off at the end of the day. Pixel is nice, but Google isn't ready to support a phone. My experience with the 13 Mini was abysmal when it came to the battery, I lasted a fraction of what his iPhone 12 could do. Some people said in the comments section of those battery tests, reviews and some corners of Reddit say that they've lasted a lot more than I did, and that's great.
But you're right, my experience with that phone was not what others have experienced. I switched to a regular iPhone 13 for my day to day and it has been great so far - it all comes down to personal experience.

To start off, yes, I’m a fan of Pixel phones and their potential. I’ve owned 3 Pixel phones and the common denominator is each phone had issues ranging from simple apps crashes(some specific chrome browser glitch) to major issues like atrocious battery life or overheating. I’ve been saying for years that Google is a billion dollar software company that sucks at optimizing their own software! It’s ridiculous. Google wants to run with the big dog tech smartphone makers like Apple and Samsung but they don’t care about their glorified beta phones. I had the Pixel 5a, 6, and 6a but all 3 were not reliable although the 5a using a snapdragon processor was much better than the Tensor chip based 6 series phones. The worst part of it is Google ignores major issues their Pixel phones have even when they’re well aware of the problems. They do shady things like sending people totally different phones but claim it’s the same one they repaired. They don’t even reply to customers who experience problems in social media posts but they’ll reply all day long to those singing their praises.
Bottom line, I had a similar experience on Pixels and while I love how androids have evolved the bad experiences brought me back to an iPhone. iPhones may be boring and lack customization but they are reliable for day to day real world use. Pixels aren’t reliable and you’re always one update away from doom. I’m done with Google because they shouldn’t make amateur start up company tech/software mistakes because they are a billion dollar business. Yet, they operate like a shady used car lot. It’s beyond frustrating and not worth the headache quite honestly.

If the racist comments came from the Pixel people, I’m not shocked at all. People will go out of their way to defend their favorite brand and they’ll stoop that low. It’s not a Google only thing. Apple and especially Samsung fanbase has been nothing but disgusting. You can be a fan of the company but don’t defend them for their faults. Sorry about those comments, you don’t deserve that. *Nobody* deserves that.

@@DayoAworunse Any time you do an RMA you should try to push for a brand new device, or a full refund. The whole RMA process is usually the same for most companies where they ship you a different device that was returned for a different reason, so you almost always end up with an even worse device. I just went through this with Bambu Labs when I ordered one of their 3D printers. I knew they would ship me a refurbished device, so, I asked for refund and I just placed a new order a month later to avoid all that that.

You can turn the off without the up button by holding the power button. There's a setting to not use the power button hold as an assistant.
But you're right, my friend who has a 7P lost her volume button too. I've never had a problem with mine, except the live wallpapers failing to work.

Just started watching your videos and ive had a few pixels over the last few years since the 3a which was great especially the camera. Ive got a pixel 6 pro currently and love it again especially the camera..i did have some connection issues which ive never had before with a pixel but apparently the 6's were prone to this..Updates of android seems to eleviated it but only occasionally have to put plane mode on & off to get it to kick into 4G..Did think about the Pixel 7 pro but may jump ship and get a samsung S23 as would like a more compact phone & do like the optical zooms on these devices..Anyway keep up the good work and never be shamed about telling your experience & story about your phone..all the best from the United Kingdom..👍

I bought the Pixel 7 pro at launch and had decent battery at best and had some random display issue where they took 2 weeks to RMA it after basic troubleshooting I already did without their help. Phone got super hot and display went bad after never physically damaging it. I have a Google Pixel 4A 5G and that's a battery champ! Wtf, I got that phone refurbished from Amazon for 80 bucks!!!!

@@DayoAworunse that was the budget phone that made me fall back in love with Pixel phones. Couldn't imagine the value and major use case I got out of it for no money. Traded my OG Pixel to get that for free. I was hoping your experience would get better after an RMA but we are in the same boat for different issues. What's going to be your new daily driver?

I believe and appreciate all you have gone through with this horrible Google Pro ordeal. You have no need to justify your views. They are based on your actual experiences and, therefore, are fact-based and honest. There are always going to be some users who have had a wonderful experience with their Google devices. You will never sway these fan boys and girls. They will simply believe your troubles were of your own making. Sadly, it's human nature. Thank you for your honesty and persistence. I'm so glad I have my Galaxy S23 Ultra!

Interesting review. My sister has a pixel 7 pro, and she loves it. She had it for about 7 months now, going to ask her how it's holding up. Some of the issues you described is the same issues I had with my HTC desire phone just before that company went under as far as phones. 99.99% of people I know have Samsung and iPhone.

Most if not all tech reviewers get perfect QC units. They would get the best out of the batch whereas regular consumers would get one at random
