I then took a gamble to upgrade to a Pixel 7 Pro and the phone didn't live up to the hype as "online reviewers" said. Bro ngl I have a pixel 6 and some of the issues I am facing is the basic shit thing which is called phone call. A definition of a phone is basically to communicate but in my case when I call someone my phone just takes a whole 5 minutes to connect the call or sometimes just ends it by itself. This is the most annoying thing. To be honest I agree with you that companies like most of them talk about cameras. Companies like Google just put all their focus in one side and then forget rest matters like fam I know I have a good camera but I need a good user experience too to enjoy it. Stocks Android a lot of RUclipsrs talk about how good it is but the first party apps don't even work properly like stockandroid feels more boring than iPhone in my opinion like I am an android fan but there are not too many features to use except all that shit talk about improving cameras and AI. At this I want to try android which is s23 ultra a total beast and earns my respect.

The replacement has been stellar! So, maybe you just got a lemon variant just like I initially did. With that said though, Google needs to do better with Quality Control for sure.

Totally agree. It happens sometimes. Assembly line manufacturing isn't always as dependable as one would think. Miscalculations and malfunctions have actually occurred before in commercial equipment usage, and is usually the reason for lemon-like (Buggy/Glitchy) experiences. That phone may unfortunately be one of them, after all no AAA Company deliberately wants to produce or sell damaged goods to its customers as it would be bad for their buisness. Angry ranting or roasting of a single experience isn't justifiably enough to account for the overall user experience of the vast majority using the same device. Tesla could even tell you that. Simply put, it just needs to be replaced.

To see someone so honest and unedited is a breath of fresh air. It's unfortunate that you had to experience these hiccups. Totally agree with you on the reviewers part - a lot of them review a phone after 2 weeks, 1 month and then swop to another phone because there's a need to create content.
I own a Pixel 6 Pro and things have kinda settled down for me after choosing to buy my device after a year. And I did contemplate if I should upgrade to the 7 Pro. But fortunately or unfortunately, I haven't. I've always thought the 7 Pro is an upgrade so it can't be any worse than mine. But this video made me doubt that belief so I'll hold on to my 6 Pro awhile longer. The thing is, no 2 phones are created equal, but specifically for Google phones, the quality checks are subpar compared to the market, and Google is notorious for that - hardware or software, sometimes both. The thing about issues on Google products is that Google will almost never admit to an issue, nor will the user ever know what exactly goes wrong in any given issue.
Again, it's a Google thing. A smooth experience is a matter of luck.

Ahh, the pain of getting a defective phone. I had a iPhone XR Max and the phone screen would constantly stop accepting touch inputs, battery would die quickly, and the phone would get hot as a furnace when charging and shut down due to the heat.

Except for a Google Nexus One, the last gen Nexus and a HTC One M8 all other android phones just sucked hard. I had for a long time Android - iPhone - Android - iPhone, but the more Android/Google Smartphones i experienced (and the gamble with it), the more i was thinking: Why the hell i even try another Android device again? Actually im on a iPhone 12 Mini, bought at iPhone 13 release with a good discount and i cant be happier now and i will stick with a high chance to Apple since i hate the google/android gamble in general, in fact ANY android smartphone gets utterly garbage within 1-4 years for sure, meanwhile my iPhones survived all 5+ years and my 2016 iPhone SE, so 7 years old is still my backup phone and "iPod" since i know i can trust iPhones/iOS, unlike android with its bad software (android) and the (android) apps

I only bought in for convenience's sake since I do everything through G Suite, and if someone like me who cares nothing for bells and whistles has had it with the functionality then you know it's bad. I'm tired of having to carry a powerbank with me always when we go out longer, while she sits here for an hour on less than 5% battery life and still the phone isn't dead. When your pixel reaches below 50% you already have to start worrying about your next charge. The camera is pretty good, the speed is sufficient and some of the Pixel software quirks are cool, but not worth all the downsides. One thing I always hear nowadays about the Pixel line is that the last good Pixel phone was the 5 and the best Pixel phone was the 4a. Those weren't buggy messes because they were on Snapdragon. Unfortunately, we just have to wait until like G4 or G5 to start getting great Pixel devices again. Apple and Qualcomm have had years and years to develop their own mobile chips, and Google not only just started, but it's technically not all their own, as they are working on the Tensor in collab with Samsung, and Samsung's Exynnos chips were, for lack of a better term, a fuckin joke. That's why they abandoned them for the S23 series

Once again, this is simply my opinion and my experience using the Pixel 7 Pro. If you are a Pixel owner and have had a good experience, I'm not invalidating yours or saying that my experience is true. To each their own.
    Edit 1:
    - Mentioned in the description, I point out that I possibly got a defective unit. I could reach out to Google and get a replacement and see if my experience changes. As stated in the video, it's anecdotal that I've had people tell me the issues they have with Pixels, when Apple and Samsung have issues as well. However, Pixel has a substainailly lower marketshare and users, and the % of issues is much higher to those of Apple & Samsung. At that point, it's a quality control issue.
    - I never mentioned about what I recomend instead of the Pixel 7 Pro and my advice is, if you still want flagship features, get an older flagship from 1-2 years ago. You'll be much happier than buying upper value-centric phones around the same price that come out the same year. Companies put majority of their assets and resources into flagships and they still perform very well and usually have longer support than upper-end value phones.

Great video Dayo, the Pixel series seems to be in trouble since their first processor, their last great phone was the Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 as the 5A was not released widely here in Europe. I was going to upgrade my very loved Pixel 2 XL in 2021 to the new Tensor Pixels, but I was not that brave to get a product with a chip in its first iteration. Decided to go for a iPhone 12 in May 2021 and even it being my first time with Apple for a full time experience and having some small issues by hating the Photo Gallery app, I am very happy I didn't wait for the Pixel 6. I have friends that owns them and I can only listen complaints of them, exactly your experience, bugs and in the case of Pixel 6, they can't even use the fingerprint unlock as it is very unreliable (Another big mistake from Google using under screen cheap sensor). I left Samsung Note 3 in 2016 for the OnePlus 3 that was also a bumpy experience, then moving to Pixel and having an amazing experience with the 2 XL. I also hope in the future Google can do a better job, but at this point, I am just afraid to purchase a Pixel and Google just decide to scrap all line up as they are masters in end up things, I know it is a good thing to have their own processor, but they still quite far from getting it right.

Your experience, and more, with the Google Pixel is the same one I had with my old OnePlus 6T a few years ago ((when OnePlus had just officially entered my country’s phone market and everyone worshipped them for making top-range phones for “cheap”)): the phone continuously locking up and freezing, phone overheating just by reading a Whatsapp message, apps crashing or not opening at all, updates not working properly….all of this started a few months after buying the phone, and it became so bad I had to replace that OnePlus (with a Samsung Galaxy) after only a year of having it.
And people who claim “performance doesn’t matter in smartphones” are lying hyp0crites because performance is exactly what they search and demand from their phones - and if it even just wavers or is not high-end (no matter if the phone is low, mid, or top-range), they’re first in line to give bashing reviews.

I am currently using the pixel 7, i experience most of this issues on daily basis. I think that the principal cause of that is the rebranded exynos chip that google are using. Even samsung the manufacturer of the chip stepped back from it this year and the s23 series have been receiving a lot of good reviews from its users. I think google should switch to tsmc for the production of their next chip.

I handle multiple phone calls a day, use Apple Music, leverage email, calendar, Twitter, Pokemon Go, discord etc all with limited issues. The one issue I also have would be battery life, but it's not much worse than the 14. Have you considered a device swap, or a factory reset?

Seems like anything audio-related is glitching. Super weird.
Interestingly enough, earlier non-American Samsung phones such as the S22 were also quite buggy using the Exynos chip, overheating etc. and after switching to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, all the issues are gone. Exynos (tensor) chips should be avoided at all costs.

Last year I bought a Google Pixel 6a and it was the worst phonen I've used in a long time. There was no face unlock and the touch screen sensitivity was terrible so often it didnt register and affected the under display fingerprint scanner. Google knew about this and even added a screen protector sensitivity setting but it didnt help all thay much. None of the reviews I watched mentioned these problems and i watched many before buying the phone.

But no one actually has talked about everything that has been wrong with those phones. I have had som many issues with lost signals, bad battery, laggy OS and so on. So i bought an iphone in 2018 and the experience was extremely much better than android so i kept buying iphones all up to the 13 mini. But i felt i never got a real value for my money so now i have tried both xiaomi and oneplus now in 2022 and 2023 and the phones have been ok but not good. I also couldn't reproduce the archive bug you ran into nor have I had issues with phone calls yet, although I have run into some bugs myself (Vibrations are delayed or don't trigger, sometimes animations don't play at all, touch is sometimes unresponsive,). The experience has been ok so far but it's not all they make it out to be. Without wanting to be mean, I think the Tensor G2 is more of a good mid-range processor than a high-end processor.
But since it's Google's processor, everyone pretends not to know it 🤷🏽‍♂️

For example, when taking pictures the contrast level is so freaking high and I'm not a person who likes high contrast I recently had to switch back to my Pixel 7 pro because my s23 ultra fell and broke so I was like screw it. Question, would you make a rant video about iphones if you experienced the same issues? This is a simple RMA. If i ever get bugs on a device whether its been a samsung note, iphone, or sony I'll just replace it with a newer phone to see if its all the devices or its just a one off. Simple

I honestly tell you that your problems you're outputting are so much than I have with it all mobile phones are not perfect, I am now 6+ months with it in hand, using it as a daily drive, also for android API images and app testing, the unit you got might have huge problem coz with time I have with 7pro in hand my complain is not even closer to yours.

I always had a feeling that pixels were almost all hype, especially when looking at the photos, even if they "looked nice" there was always something off either the aspect ratio, the color, or just the straight up resolution, like I think it was only this year the front cam finally got 4k

  • @Skopin
    @Skopin Год назад +3

Did you contact Google to get a replacement phone? Everything you're describing is indicative of a faulty unit.
The longer I watched this video, the more annoyed I became because it sounds like you didn't even think that maybe you just got a bad unit. No troubleshooting or contacting the manufacturer, just the assumption that this was how it was released and supposed to work.
As a tech reviewer, that should be step 1 when you start to have problems with a product you're reviewing. Otherwise it leads to a dishonest or uninformed review.

I had the Pixel 4a which was hands down the best phone I've ever owned. $350 for it and it was REALLY good. So I upgraded to the Pixel 6a, because Google offered me $310 as a trade-in. I wish I went a different route. It just simply is worse than the 4a. I also encountered glitches like you have, and it feels like an incomplete experience. I haven't used Apple since all the way back to the iPhone 4, but I'm switching back during the iPhone 15 launch.

last year I switch from the pixel 3a which was my favorite phone to date with the pixel 6 and experienced basically everything you explained within the first week, especially the heating and slowdown problem. Sucks to see that the 7 is the exact same. Im running a Galaxy A53 and it's a pretty comparable experience with the pixel 3a, I'm happy at least.

Finally someone said it. It’s mind boggling. The kicker: not only do they have immense wealth to create a greedy product, but they can afford to almost give it away bc they make the real money on getting u to use their apps for the data/marketing. It’s frustrating but at the same time they’re shooting themselves in the foot.

I'm in South Africa and have been using the 7 Pro since launch and never experienced any of the issues you're experiencing.
It is fine to express your opinion about the experience you've had after using a device after a couple of days but I personally think you're treading the borders of making your statements objective and absolutes, in saying the company's phone is a joke, it never works, whereas if you read the comments you'll see that you're probably not alone experiencing these issues but a great number of people out there using the device NEVER experienced these issues.
I think to make the point that the phone all together is a joke, gather a bigger audience of people having these issues cause some of us, maybe most of us, haven't experienced any of these things.
