Love these videos. They are at a good speed to perform the work while watching. I used these to do the initial break down, inspect, clean, and creation of needed parts for my 2003 diesel 4R100. I ordered my Super Deluxe kit from Transmission Bench March 2024, which came with training videos on a thumb drive. Jimmy is great and will take the time to ask and answer your questions. The new kit didn't have the neatly labeled white parts bags, but it was still easy enough to figure out which parts go where. If you have an older vehicle, I highly recommend doing this work yourself. It will not only give you the confidence to do your own repairs, but you can also save money, or put the money into upgraded parts. Only you will put the best time and attention into your vehicle repairs, all while learning something new. Keep up the good work Jimmy!
@@joshuadaniel1001 I have completed the rebuild and now I am putting everything into the truck. Take your time, don't force anything, and go step by step with the videos. You may find small differences with your transmission like I did, but I was able to "Google" my variances to ensure correct rebuild. This project will teach you some great mechanics about automatic transmissions.

Step six of the pump boost valve sleeve without the OEM orange spring will cause the sleeve to fall inside the bore Jimmy puts assembly grease to hold it in place but once that grease melts the sleeve will fall inside the bore transgo kit reuses the OEM orange spring and i personally think it is to keep the sleeve in place as well as to help increase the combined spring preassure.so hope this catches your attention if you are installing this superior kit put your mind into this step 6 study it carefully and you will see I'm right.thanks everyone for taking your time to read this important step 6 don't just use the blue spring by itself include the original orange spring as well or you will regret it.
Had me freaked out there on that last test fit with the pump Mr. Williams......I triple checked coast clutch assembly and everything was good. there was a slight ability to spin pump on test fit but not when gasket was in place. Fortunately everything installed fine.
I’m running into the same problem the pump spins freely however there is only .002 of clearance between the pump and the case everything went together beautiful until this point.
When I performed video 13 of 16, I cleaned the pump halves after drilling ALL the holes required. Then I installed ALL the required parts. This removed or lowered the possibility of getting tiny metal pieces in the system. Just my recommendation.
@36:30 Do you ever pack that entire impeller area with that blue lube? I think it helps ensure transmission fluid will be pumped. Kind of like priming the pump.
Two 7" clamps will be too large to align the pump, use 6". I bought 7" from Home Depot and the diameter was way too large even after screwing as far as they could go. The 6" worked perfect.
Can you tell me if I should band my 4r100 pump before tightening the two halves together? I have a second hand pump and it won't go in. I hear it needs to be banded but that only makes sense if it's done while being assembled? If i break the bolts loose won't the seal need to be replaced as well?
in the pressure regulator assembly you took out two springs, a inner and a outer but when you re installed the springs you left out the inner spring. are we not to use the inner spring with the new kit?
while you are probably correct in that a different hammer would be preferred and a steel hammer should be unacceptable, this guy probably has thousands of reliable and well built transmissions which accepted his love taps just fine. this is a class series geared towards car owners with limited shop experience or limited access to tools, but yes he should have just used a deadblow or rubber mallet since the steel hammer is mostly unnecessary and a bit aggressive to be using on something that is being put together with such clarity of thought to details. i want your shop to rebuild transmissions exactly like this guy does with every piece stored on a 2.5x4 foot table separate from the work area with bolts in 4 boxes arranged exactly as shown and videos showing every step and part as it is replaced and then you can use a rubber mallet instead of a ball peen. if you will recall in lesson 1 he said a claw hammer would work just fine and i would be willing to take his word on that. i disagree with the amount of assembly grease he put on some of the parts but you are not going to see many people with this much command of the machine taking shortcuts or being careless....

@Trey ChastainWhen two similar metal tool collide with force, one of them could shatter. Thus, it is safer to use a lead or brass hammer against steal punch or chisel. The mushrooming of the head of drift punch or similar tools, are indication that it is a less solid metal. It is possible that a steal hammer can cause a piece of mushroom head to separate and cause injury. See my personal experience mentioned in my previous comments. No disrespect intended to the instructor. Just sharing my instructors teaching of safety procedures working in a shop.

The "puck" end should be aluminum, but the handle (which is used with different pucks) could be as seen here from a stronger metal. A closer look shows the mushroom head. @Trey Chastain If you stop the at 30:27, you will see what looks like a steal handle attached to an aluminum puck like disc. The working end of the tool is not an issue. Where the hammer blow meets the tool is the issue. the mushroom head is very obvious.
Hitting with the hammer to the steel chisel are two different hardness strength. obvious chisel mushrooms its weaker than the hammer it wont mushroom not much danger. taking two hammers swing them fast into each other will fracture possibly explode!

Mushroomed chisel head is very dangerous. Especially when hit by a steel hammer. Great lessons otherwise.

He’s referring to using the drill bit as a punch. Use a punch of the appropriate size for a punch, use a drill bit to make holes.
