    When he said "transmission repair is not for everyone but if you're still with me. It is for you." I said damn daddy.

    At 11:36 you actually need 7 nuts. Both the picture there and the demonstration prior has 7, but the wording has 6. Doesn’t matter much in the end though, I just am in the middle of doing this and thought I was missing a nut :)

    Just beginning to disect and inspect. (See 26:00). Sure enough, I found the snap ring just laying on top. Thanks for the heads up, Jimmy.

    This series is wonderful! Especially for those of us who are less than a shadetree mechanic. Maybe a shade bush. He is meticulous.

    One thing you need to be aware of if you plan to tackle this yourself, if your trans doesn't work correctly, you may very well have broken internal parts, which can greatly complicate removal of those parts. You could literally get stuck. Plus, since his trans has already been disassembled and reassembled, it comes apart easily. Yours won't come apart as easily.

    I'm a little confused with 7:42 - were those two bolt holes already tapped to SAE 3/8" x 16 to begin with? Or is he saying that he tapped them himself? If we tap them ourselves will that cause an issue when we try to put the bolts back? It looks like all 9 bolts he took out are the same, so I'm getting a little confused here.

      @Joe Hoe they are actually m10x1.5. NOT 3/8".....
      The 3/8" works because it's SLIGHTLY smaller.
      On stubborn pumps, you will strip it.

    Just started taking mine apart to figure out what I need to order but something doesn't seem right. I pulled the pump but it doesnt have a pump to coast drum thrust washer. On top of that my coast clutch drum has a ball bearing in it instead of a bushing. I replaced the transmission in 2004 with a Jasper Monster Box which the don't make anymore. Is there supposed to be a washer there?

    The 2 front pump tapped holes ARE NOT 3/8 x 16 They are metric and the tail shaft bolts are the proper thread

    • @michaelwheeler4014
      @michaelwheeler4014 2 года назад

      So using a 3/8 bolt for the special tool to remove the internals can damage those threads?

    Attempting to make stand. Bought 2- 2×4" both 8 feet long and still do not have enough for my 4- 12" pieces. Already cut 4-18" and 6-15". My mistake for not verifying size. Two 8' foot boards equals 192" total length and the cut sizes all equal 210" in length. We will see how the tool goes, but seems pretty simple.
