The part where Payne defends Stone always gets me. All he needed was to know that someone, anyone, cared. They learned a little about each other and gained that mutual respect
Reminds me of the scene in October Sky where Homer's dad defends Homer's friend from getting beat up by his drunk step father.
That actor who played Stone’s dad is the one and only great Michael Ironside. One of the all time great “tough guy” actors out there. He was in hit films like Scanners, Top Gun, Total Recall, Free Willy, The Next Karate Kid and many more! Always loved seeing him on screen!
@@offspringfan1288 "see you at the party Richter!"

There's a special way 90s movies were done. Even the comedies made you want to cry joyfully 🥰
The 80s and 90s were the peak of movies. Thankfully, weve finally getting good movies, after like a 10 year draught
Its the optimism, now we're all too aware of everything going to shit, the world got smaller, and all its problems all too close
No clue why but whenever I saw this movie I always imagined it as a Full Metal Jacket parody
@@zeallust8542 Didn't Damon Wayans do a comedy with his brother where they play hustlers coming over a credit card? Mo' money I think....that was fun too.
@@fanboyfilm6952 Dont think ive seen that one
He became the father figure for these lost boys...
And simultaneously found his joy outside of killin. That's why you cried. I know... Me too.
Payne blasting the closet monster and his tear jerking renditions “The Little Engine That Could” are some of the most heartwarming moments in cinema. “If he’s still in there, he ain’t happy” is a quote for the ages.
Choo Choo 😂
Bang! 😅
I love when he is watering the kids in the mud pit and he calls them his little patch of brussel sprouts.
😂😂😂 I remember
Good times man
My son is named Russell his mothers side calls him that well actually Russell Sprout. They always look at me so funny when laugh so hard after saying that.
"What's your angle boy, you plotting on me" lmao
My dad was a Vietnam veteran of the Marine Corps...if I was told to go wake him up, he would do this to me Everytime. I'd tell it was me and he would rub the top of my head (checking for the truth I assume lol) and just say "I know son". Scared me every time for real. He knocked my grandmother out as well when she woke him up (he had just returned home from Nam)
That -whip- sound had me rolling
I quote this line frequently🤣
Major Payne's half-smile when he salutes his cadets after their performance was everything. He brought out the best in those kids and they brought out something new in him. I notice alot more now as a 40 year old than when I used to watch it almost everyday at 14. This movie was hilarious, but it was also a great story. Definitely one of the best!
His daydream at the train station was the first time it wasn't _all_ about war.
@@callmeshaggy5166 Yep he actually wanted to settle down :)

The fact that he made Stone squad leader is interesting. Even though he didn’t want to, the rest of the squad naturally gravitated to him as a leader. Payne knew all the kids plotted against him but when he saw Stone take the fall he saw something in him. That he cared for the rest of the boys. So he made him squad leader, to give him more motivation, responsibility. Shape him into a better man. And that’s what happens by the end.
Some say it was a dumb call on Major Payne, but you explained exactly why he made that decision.👍
And it was such a classic Drill Instructor move, basically by the book for training. Being a Drill Sergeant or Drill Instructor requires a lot deeper understanding of psychology than people realize. Major Payne's only fault was that he hadn't tailored it to children when he started.
This movie was directed by Nick Castle, who's most famous for playing Michael Myers in the original Halloween.
I...did not know that, wow that seems random!
Aw, you beat me to it!
What? You made that up, that can't be true. Haha... So random.
That’s so cool!
Well, I'll be damned...
You cried cause you watched these kids grow into a team. And it's beautiful ❤️. Plus these kids did a great job at being relatable and making you connect with them.
And lil Tiger stepping up ... 😅
The fact that you cried during this makes me love you even more lol.
I bought this for my dad and he literally rolled off of the couch and couldn’t get his breath from laughing so hard. He was a medic with the 7th Army Field Hospital and mom was a registered nurse and she thought she was going to have to intubate him so he could breathe! I knew he would like the movie but I didn’t know he would turn cyanotic from watching it!

Damon Wayans is hilarious, his role in the series My Wife & Kids is brilliant
The 2 parts I love and it shows that Major Payne does care:
1) Never lays a hand on Alex
2) He protects and stand in-between Alex and his Step Father.
Your reaction to Payne meeting Tiger and almost breaking his finger was priceless!
That movie was part of my childhood. Some moments of the movie became running jokes in our family. My dad was serving at the time and he loved to immitate payne's iconic laugh. :D

Mine too! Classic dad movie!!
When I count, instead of using Mississippi I use tubby-tubby lol
nice! i can picture that! even though not a lot was accurate about the military in this movie, it still somehow captured the essence. every military person I've known loves this movie just like i do.
Yep. It's still a banger, too. All the movies I watched when I was a kid are so dirty, now that I am able to grasp alot of the humor now. All Jim Carrey, Wayans Bros and so many others I had no idea were so dirty. Wayne's World is another one. " She makes me feel kind of funny; like when we used to climb the rope in gym class.. " [ the rope between your legs. Never understood that til I was a little older. All these films are dirty.
Disney films take the cake. It's everywhere in those movies to the point it's not an accident. Corrupting children on purpose.
My friend my friend you just felt a sliver of what the magic of growing up in the 80s/90s was like. As a veteran I thank you for your kind words. Enjoyed your reaction.
One thing about Major Payne is that on the surface it's cheesy over-acted and made for comedy.
But the movie is surprisingly and delightfully deep below the surface. Its message about teamwork and what it can accomplish is well uderrated. There's also a message about having balance in your life. Major Payne was way too eaten up over being a Marine to the point of being almost robotic. But towards the end, he started letting his emotions out and won the woman. Of coarse his daydream even had charlie get killed so everyone was happy.
It's a movie with heart, and well worth watching again.

Leo, you don't have to apologize for being human. Everyone has a movie, book, song, memory, etc. that makes them emotional. This is a greatly underrated film. So glad to see you giving it some love.
Nothing wrong with crying, a real man shows his feelings with no fear or remorse for doing so, its only a question of when, trapping your thing in your zipper is a good time to cry as is missing out on that cheap car you had your eye on..

Yo, he shed a tear during Major Payne... My kinda man! This was one of my little brother's favorite movies. It's been a pleasure watching you react to this. You never disappoint!
There's something rather wholesome about this movie. Something modern movies don't seem to want to show anymore. A strong male roll model mentoring a group of boys.
Major Payne is a bit over the top, and there's a story thread there of him needing to take it down a notch because he's dealing with children. But most of the story is him teaching these boys how to become men.

From a veteran, thank you for being appreciative. I was in JROTC in high school (before joining the Army) and once I was promoted to Major, this movie became the center of all our jokes. The fact that I'm 4'11" only made it funnier. 😂🤣🤣😂

The scene of Major Payne "watering" the kids like flowers as they were buried up to their necks in the ground was actually something Drill Instructors did to recruits in boot camp a few decades ago. The Marine Corps gets rather creative when it comes to insensitiving performance.
I was in the corp and never once heard that. All the punishments done as dumb as they may seem at the time is to correct your fuck ups but that just sounds like a waste of time when you could be training recruits instead. Shit they were still hitting us when I went
@@mnemonic1363 Yup, same here. They hit us but didn't beat our asses. I got slapped and punched in the stomach by D.I.'s but nothing like that. Although, Major Payne seemed to be a bit of a psycho with good intentions.

Allright my little brusslesprounts 😀
V, he defended that boy against his father. Well done Tiger and team 💜
I was in boot camp from Jan 10, 1994, to April 1 in San Diego. Towards the end we were preparing for final drill and there was a small cluster of people in the stands while we were on the parade deck getting ready to practice . The DI's told us a VIP was in the crowd so we better not fuck up. A few days later, after he left, they told us it was Damon Wayans preparing for an upcoming film role.
One of my favorites. Saddened that nobody reacts to this one. Thank you!
Major Payne's a major diss, he makes us squat when we piss
I’ve cried during this movie too. It just gives you all the good feelings in your heart. Hard to explain for sure but don’t apologize for it. 🙂

I have always cried at that part, even this time. I wore this VHS out when I was a kid!
Reaching the rank of Major, O-4, is considered to have had a successful career in the Marine Corps. I was enlisted and then in OCS (PLC, Platoon Leader's Course, specifically) after I got out, but an injury requiring surgery knocked me out. My father is a retired Lt. Col.
Nothing wrong with crying tears of joy when something makes you happy! That means you had a real experience :)
You have a good heart , nothing wrong with tears of happiness or joy. As I get older every movie that is supposed to make us cry usually gets to me like the “green mile”. That movie gets to me every time. You are a good man and crying is never a sign of weakness.

This is a classic in my house. We know it line for line! 👌🏽👌🏽♥️
I cried too. Even in your edit I could feel it. It's crazy how movies and shows can bring out feelings.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I used to cry watching it because as a child I wished I had a parental figure that cared about me reaching my full potential the same way Payne does for those children that he doesn't even know. His tactics may have seemed extreme at first but, he transformed those children into men and they developed a sense of accomplishment and respect for themselves as a result. Payne saw in them what they couldn't see in themselves. Think about the bad ass man that Tiger is on his way to becoming; because of Payne. He sacrificed his time to protect the weak. It's a beautiful thing that doesn't happen often in real life so people often miss the point of the movie because they can't read between the lines and humor. It's safe to say that we all wish we had a dad like Major Payne. Basically Payne is to the children what soldiers are American citizens. Soldiers give up their lives, they sacrifice all, as an act of love for people they don't even know because they see the bigger picture and know they need to be strong for those that can't be strong for themselves. To all the Veterans, thank you for your service and protection. And a special thanks to all, and their families, of those who paid the ultimate price for standing up for the Americans who couldn't stand for themselves. Happy Veteran's Day...the people are nothing without you.
I officially feel vindicated for crying at the end of this movie as an adult because this has been my favorite movie since I was 5 and I never cried until I watched it as an adult, this movie just invokes all the right emotions at the right moments
Your reactions always brighten my day and seeing you tear up just made me like you even more.
I watched Major Payne for the first time aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in our berthing lounge back in 96. We all laughed our ass off and even got misty eyed too. Great film.
A real gem of 90s cinema. Heartfelt and funny as hell
That bit where he slaps the shit oot of that police is still one of the funniest moments in any film, I highly recommend you check out Blankman it's a highly underrated comedy.
Blankman, I was just making the same suggestion.
This movie is a classic from my childhood. 90s kids had the best upbringing when it comes to entertainment and pop culture
My dad was a Navy vet from Vietnam era. He served as a Machinist's Mate on the USS Hunley. He had some real zingers when it came to bad puns and what became known as dad jokes. Anyway, he had a variation on the "take your mind off the pain" joke. I'd skin a knee and he'd offer to smash a toe to relieve the pain. I'd beg him not to and he'd make like he was going to go find the hammer.
This movie was on the Starz 6 satellite package programming one summer, I think it was between my freshman and sophomore years of high school, so like summer '96. I have watched this movie, BlankMan, and PCU more times than is natural and I can still enjoy them all. Even though Keenan was the main force behind In Living Color, when it came to the movies Damon was always my favorite of the brothers. His delivery is second to none.
Nick Castle is gifted as a director. Those shots where it's static and there's something shocking on-screen. Then, a step or two to the side and it multiplies what you first thought was messed up. Then, when they're running in the dresses; there coming up over the hill, slowly revealing what they're wearing. It's brilliant..
I still say, "Now what we have here, IS A FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE!". With the accent and everything.
Mine too!! Lol

I always liked Major Payne's version of the Little Engine That Could 🤣
The guy they boya hired to fight Payne is played by Scott"Bam Bam" Bigelow. A legendary pro wrestler from Neptune, New Jersey who was also called 'The Beast from the east". And seeing a man proud of his kids doing something they was passionate for was something that I always wanted my dad to do. So this movie itself will always have a special part in my heart.
Also I will be showing my kids this
Dude , I was crying right along with ya. Everyone loves and issued by an underdog comeback story. This movie has always been under rated in my opinion. I love it, it's funny, has some some feels to it and is just overall generally entertaining. Most people I know haven't even heard of it. Glad you reacted to it.
Dude this is my movie! Absolutely hilarious!
The tears are justified man, this movie is so full of soul and its just a beautifully crafted feel good story
You're real, Leo. That's why so many people love you and get joy from your reactions. Watching you choke up made me choke up too 😆
The reason I love and watch you is because you show real emotion, so don't be embarrassed, let it be a badge of pride
My grandmother and grandfather were in the second world War 2, my grandmother was a nurse in the war and my grandpapa was in the army and lost a leg, but my grandmother fell in love with him.
Me seeing Mr. Video cry at one of my favorite movies makes me happy! I cry in this movie too...
“1!!.don’t you feel dumb?
2!!. Look at you!”😂😂😂😂that whole part reminded me of him as homie the clown
Sen-si-tive! 😉👌 Loved seeing you fall on the floor laughing and even crying tears of joy ☺
Major Payne helped transform the boys from a group of misfits into a group of young men who had confidence in themselves and in each other. I think I get why you might have had a show of emotion. There's a strong sense of pride and accomplishment in all of that.
I remember watching this right after I graduated boot camp January of 99' at RTC Great Lakes.
This movie cracks me up! When younger people think of the Wayans brothers, they think of Sean and Marlon but I think of Keenan Ivory and Damon!
