I don't know. The only really cool uncle I had was paralyzed. Most of the 9 uncles on my dad's side were older than my grandmother on mom's side. My mom's brother, even being handicapped was the shit though. Second greatest man besides my father.
What people forget is the spot that Jack "falls into the water" at the end is the same spot he saw Elizabeth fall from when she fainted due to her corset. So he knew as long as he fell in the same manner and area, he'd make it into the waters avoding any rocks and providing an easy escape to the Black Pearl. It's the little details throughout this film that makes it so brilliant. Also, happy that Johnny got his justice and his horizon. Sail on Captain Jack.
One of the things that makes Jack such a cool protagonist is that , on top of not exacrly being the most moral guy around, is that he acts like a fool when in reality he's usually the smartest guy in the room But what really makes him likeable is that he's basically the childlike fantasy of pirates brought to life. Jack isn't in it for the loot and the hedonism per say , he's in it for the adventure. Which SHARPLY contrasts him with Barbossa who is WAY more accurate to what pirates were actually like historically The movie also had a pretty cool message that you wouldn't normally think Disney would allow in their movies, that being that sometimes doing the right thing means doing the wrong thing
Jack didn't become dead until he stole a coin after he first entered the cave. Once he took it he became cursed like the rest of the pirates. Leo, if you want to watch some serious pirate stuff then you should check out Black Sails. It's as good as Game of Thrones.
I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt! Anytime I have a jar I say that. So many people don't get the reference. The whole series is very entertaining. Hope you watch them all. 🤗❤
A modern Disney classic, I would say. The special effects were AMAZING and Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow is iconic. Did you recognize Will Turner? The actor is the same guy who played Legolas in Lord of the Rings! Oh yeah he was hot shit in the early 2000s, lol. I hope you do the sequels. Barbossa was boss, but the villain in Dead Man's Chest will enthrall you.
My dad had a friend I remember from when I was growing up, an Irish guy named Pleukharp who served in the navy. He had a tattoo on his arm that said "Take what you can, give nothing back". He was cool dude and way more generous than the tattoo implied.
There was a special pocket in the mattress for the foot warmer. The red embers would go out but the metal would be hot enough to comfortably warm her feet
"He'd die for her but he barely even got to know the girl!" They've been friends for 8 years lol. Also everyone hates on Norrington because he's the romantic rival but he's an absolute babe and he deserves better.
@28:38 that is chain shot. Two canon balls attached with a chain. It was used against the other ships mast and rigging to destroy the sails. You could fire it at the hull but it wouldn't do as much damage as a normal single shot.
I saw this in the theater and I remember thinking it had been such s long time since I had so much FUN watching a movie. I think the epic swashbuckling soundtrack had a lot to do with it. Fun hanging out with you as always, Leo!✌🏾☺
One of my favorite things about jack , is in a deleted scene , it shows that jack became a pirate because he didn’t wanna participate in the slave trade. He said people aren’t cargo and had to become a pirate to survive
The hot pan on the bed: They didn't use it correctly. This is a bedwarmer, though they usually come with longer handles. To use it properly, you take tongs and drop coals or a heated brick/stone into the pan, which has a hinged cover that automatically closes. You then take it to an unoccupied bed and insert it between the top covers and the bottom sheet. The bottom of the pan is flat and polished, so it slides easily everywhere you push it with the handle, and you try to move it over every inch of the bed (this is why a longer handle is useful; it saves you from having to walk around to the other side of the bed to warm the far side). Then you take the bedwarmer out and dump the contents back into the fireplace. Afterwards, THEN you climb into the heated bed. You DON'T leave it in bed with the occupant, or you risk the person getting burned. And while it's touching the bed you keep it moving, so it doesn't singe the bed linens or set them afire. And you don't need to use live-hot coals just to warm up a bed; you CAN, but it's a little over-kill. Bedwarmers were in common use in Europe and in Colonial America in their freezing winters. Why they would need them in the warm Caribbean is beyond me; it doesn't get cold enough that you need more than your own body temperature to heat your bed linens. I figure that made a show of an unnecessary item so we would know what it was when they used it as a makeshift weapon to hit a pirate.
Leo is easily the best individual reactor on the platform. He's got unique charm, personality, humor, and most important, likeability. I don't care whether he's seen these movies or not. Consistently entertaining...Welcome back sir!
@@ITSMRVIDEO-rg9ms please react to my favorite adventure movie The Mask Of Zorro (1998). It stars Antonio Banderas, Sir Anthony Hopkins, & Catherine Zeta-Jones. It's got a great story, action, romance, easy to root for heroes, & easy to hate villains.
There are 5 movies in total for this series so far...the first 3 are the better ones. It's pretty cool to see how Johnny Depp grows the character of Captain Jack Sparrow through the films.
I ignore the last 2 tbh. The 5th one negated one of the best deleted scenes in the original trilogy where it talked about the reason Jack became a pirate.
I'm not sure off the top of my head if I ever got around to watching the 5th one. I think maybe I did see the 4th one, but as I recall they had started dropping major cast members by that point and it was very different without them.
A really fun film. You can feel the energy of Robert Newton's Captain Long John Silver being channeled through Geoffrey Rush's Captain Hector Barbossa. They really embodied the pirate code.
At 33:03 is what I imagined Johnny's reaction to winning his case against the ex wife. Zoe Saldana looks queasy because she was sea sick every time she was on the water. I was 13 when I went on the POTC ride at Disneyland. I had been reading Treasure island over and over. When I got to DL I was thrilled to find there was a pirate ride! It was all pretty great 'til we got to the part where our boat floated between two ships shooting cannon at each other. The booms, the flashes of cannon fire, the smoke, I think I died a little death of happiness right there. Thanx for posting.
Past few days I’ve told you about how I’m losing an elder family member, looks like he won’t make it threw the night. I’ve unexpectedly lost my brother and father, lost dozens of friends too but this time it’s destroyed me. I’m so sick to my stomach. On top of that my house is about to get burned down from a wildlife. I appreciate you so much man, Love you Leo. If it weren’t for you and a few other people I don’t think I’d be able to make it threw this... Thank you brother🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You are so right about that bed warmer being dangerous. They used to use those in England and other cold climates, but some physicians warned against them being dangerous as both a fire hazard and because they created CO that might kill a sleeping person. They called it “noxious vapors” back then haha. They started using heated up sand or a hot water bottle instead to warm their sheets up. What’s dumb is that Elizabeth wouldn’t be using that thing at all in the Caribbean. It doesn’t get cold enough at the coast at all. She probably wouldn’t be using all those blankets either. Maybe if she were on a mountain top inland somewhere.
Johnny Depp is that dude. Tied with Tom Hardy for my favorite actor. He’s the master of becoming an oddity. You should definitely watch more Depp films. Sleepy Hollow, Fear and Loathing, Ed Wood, Blow, Donnie Brasco, From Hell. I could go on and on but these are can’t miss.
The hot pan under the covers was a traditional way to keep your feet and bed warm in the old days. It contained coals that would burn but not touch. However if your feet touched the pan it was hot as hell. This can be copied when camping by burying coals under a few inches of dirt and sleeping on top of them in winter. Mmmmmm cozy.
"Take what ya can, give nothin' back...." I absolutely DO NOT care what anyone says, Johnny Depp was and IS the only actor who can effectively give Captain Jack Sparrow his drunken smarminess and swagger.
Jack wasn't with the crew when they got cursed. He was saved from the island by rum runners (why there was so much rum on the island). He pocketed a coin when he was telling Barbosa about the ship waiting outside. Will saw him pocket the coin and realized what he was doing and started playing into it. But those are small details that are easy to miss. Can't wait to see you react to the 2nd!!!

As everyone else is saying, Sparrow wasn't dead until he grabbed the coin at the end. That's when he was cursed, he did it knowing they would try to betray him and he couldn't kill them so made sure they couldn't kill him either until after the curse was broken. He got off the island by "bartering" with the rum runners that use that island to hide their stash
1:40 Since 'Privateers' who did exactly what a lot of pirates did worked for 'the crown' they had the British governments approval to pillage other ships and so never got 'a short drop and a sudden stop' - except for those who turned to piracy because there was no more work for them as privateers and they weren't trained to do anything else. Netflix had a short and sometimes repetitive but still interesting docuseries called 'The Lost Pirate Kingdom' where we look at some of the most famous pirates of the time including Black Sam Bellamy, Benjamin Hornigold, Charles Vane (the show does NOT shy away from the fact that he was a sadist), Anne Bonny, and Blackbeard, it gives us a look into what drove them to piracy, how they and the British government were equally opportunistic and greedy and about the rise and fall of the pirate Republic of Nassau (formed before France and America had their own revolutions and republics).
Welcome back Mr Video. Looking gr8! Love your reactions...and thanks for your apologies for the profanities. I don't /can't / won't watch many of the movies in your list but like the ones I do watch.
"Borrowed. Borrowed without permission, but with every intention on bringing it back." ~ Jack sparrow That's the line I use every time I may steal something xD
No. Jack made it off the island, the first time, because IT was a cache for illegal Rum Runners - Moonshiners essentially. After only three days, they showed up and Jack "negotiated" his passage of the island. But when he and Elizabeth got there, the Moonshiners were no longer in business, so the island was abandoned.
The scene with them walking underwater with the canoe is actually possible. You can test it by lowering a cup into water upside down and it traps the air inside. It's a brilliant little detail.
Another awesome choice to watch. Glad to see you're back making content. Depp received his first of three Oscar nominations for this debut role of Captain Jack Sparrow. It's super scummy how Disney wanted to sever ties with him when his psycho ex made up a bunch of lies, despite nothing having been proven then.
Funny, he’s been in a few high profile relationships and she’s the only one who says he was a violent guy. From the sounds of it, she was egging him on, so he locked himself in a room and got drunk. All she has are pictures of him passed out after getting drunk to avoid her. The guy never had a reputation for violence before.
@@christhornycroft3686 Exactly. On the Red Carpet for one of his nominations, he mentioned taking time out of his schedule to play Barbie with his daughter. And he cosplayed as Captain Jack Sparrow for sick patients in a hospital. He definitely seemed like a caring individual; especially in contrast to many other toxic celebrities.
@@susanalexander6721 Depp commented on this during the trial, stating how would not reprise the role even if Disney offered him "300 million dollars and a million alpacas." One of a film series where some sequels were arguably better/on par to the original, but nostalgia will always take me back to the original as my favorite.
@@JimmyInKona But do they really? Or are we just in love with the first because it's the first, and sets the stage for the rest? That's my struggle lol
@@JimmyInKona First one has plot holes just as much others have. It's just the nostalgia and the first experiencing the world in the first movie, that tells you the first one is the best. Second is just as good and I'd say third one is just slightly worse, even though people deemed it as unwatchable.
The difficulty of learning swordplay differs from person to person as different disciplines have different rules and traditions. Ive studied a little bit of kendo and theres alot of ceremony involved in it

Take my word for it, there's a ton of reasons why you'd love this show.
This is just epic fun adventure film, and Johnny Depp just created a legend. Love the trilogy, and the 2 sequels are enjoyable too, but not as much as the first three. Back when Disney made fun stuff.
This is a fun pirate movie and the first Disney movie to recieve a PG-13 rating. Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, Matthew McConaughey, Robin Williams, Christopher Walken and Robert DeNiro were almost cast as Jack Sparrow. Heath Ledger, Chris Masterson, Tobey McGuire, Christian Bale and Ben Peyton were considered for Will Turner. Amanda Bynes, Jamie Alexander and Jessica Alba were considered for Elizabeth. Steven Spielberg was almost picked to direct the film with Harrison Ford as the lead, but was too busy working on Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can, both released in 2002.
I can’t say I’ll ever be mistaken for an Orlando Bloom fan, but he’s the right actor for this kind of dashing, pretty boy character. He’s like every Disney prince ever constructed. Johnny Depp was the right call for this because he actually went method with it. He created that character and made it his own. I think his kids were quite young when the first film came out and he wanted to make a movie they could watch. His previous films with the exception of Scissorhands and Cry Baby were aimed at adults. He’s a remarkably versatile actor. He can play the smooth yet troubled playboy as well as a pirate and everything in between. And his voice really hasn’t changed much in 30 years. He’s just sounding more PTSD and slowed down. No kidding, eh? He must be exhausted.
Johnny Depp is so good in this, but his best performances are in Don Juan DeMarco and Finding Neverland. Don Juan is kind of a comedy and he’s hilarious in it, basically playing himself - a ladies’ man. Finding Neverland is about the guy who wrote Peter Pan. He got an Oscar nomination for it. But this is his Forrest Gump type role. He’s playing a goofy character, and doing it very well. Again, I think he’s kind of playing himself. It’s a fun movie, for sure.
People always think that the boat wouldnt have air under water. But actually it would, it would just be impossible for two people to hold a boat under water. Especially one that has a big ass air pocket. Wood floats, so does air.
You can try it on a smaller scale, Get a pan fill it with water, take a cup stuff a napkin in the bottom so that when you turn the cup upside down it wont fall out. turn the cup upside down and push the cup straight down into the water. the water should be high enough so the cup can be fully submerged in the water. pull the cup back out and the napkin wont be wet. make sure to keep the cup straight when putting and pulling out of the water, the idea is to trap air in the cup. tilting it will cause water to get in.
Can’t wait for the rest of the movies. If you like Pirate stuff check out Black Sails, one of the best and most underrated shows of all time, like Game of Thrones but with Pirates. It’s somewhat historical but a prequel to the book “Treasure Island”

It's the only truly good one out of all of them, but it is great.
It was so big at the time I remember all rental stores we sold out and most places to buy the movie were practically sold out. I remember watching it and it had that special feeling that I’ve only had from a few movies like Titanic , Avatar Transformers so on
I missed you bro, I had some health issues but watching your reactions always makes me feel better, thank you so much💚
I hope you're feeling better now, at least. Stay safe
Been there, hope you get better soon
Geoffrey Rush just being the ultimate "pirate's pirate" in this movie has me really wanting Leo to watch Mystery Men.
Yessss! Mystery Men next! That would be so fun.
Geoffrey Rush's Barbossa is my absolute favorite character .
@@sophiecooper1824 He was incredible in the role. He one of those gifted actors that can do any role.
1, He got off the island because of the rum smugglers, he was only marooned for 3 days before he met them.
2, Jack was never undead until the end, you reacted to his hand when he played with the coins, but you forgot it? yea he just slight of hand, stole a coin and became undead before barbossa fight
Classic. I saw this in the theatre. Captain Jack is the cool uncle everyone wishes they had.
My uncle hawk was that guy. I mean, his name was hawk, that says it all.
I saw in theatres too and definitely the girls weren’t thinking of him as their uncle haha
Should watch what's eating Gilbert grape
Not fair. I had 7 uncles and none of them were fun
One of the things that makes Jack such a cool protagonist is that , on top of not exacrly being the most moral guy around, is that he acts like a fool when in reality he's usually the smartest guy in the room
But what really makes him likeable is that he's basically the childlike fantasy of pirates brought to life. Jack isn't in it for the loot and the hedonism per say , he's in it for the adventure.
Which SHARPLY contrasts him with Barbossa who is WAY more accurate to what pirates were actually like historically
The movie also had a pretty cool message that you wouldn't normally think Disney would allow in their movies, that being that sometimes doing the right thing means doing the wrong thing
The first three in this series are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. Reminds me so much of treasure island and treasure planet. Loved these movies growing up.
Jack didn't become dead until he stole a coin after he first entered the cave. Once he took it he became cursed like the rest of the pirates.
Leo, if you want to watch some serious pirate stuff then you should check out Black Sails. It's as good as Game of Thrones.
Black Sails is probably top 5 all time shows.
not sure if it is any more serious, it is just have n00000dity
Wouldn't say it's as good as GoT, but it's pretty good.
Captain blood.
I *LOVE* Black Sails!
Before Disney started ruining franchises
He also katy perry baby daddy
Truly a legendary series, never get tired of watching it.
My dad had a friend I remember from when I was growing up, an Irish guy named Pleukharp who served in the navy. He had a tattoo on his arm that said "Take what you can, give nothing back". He was cool dude and way more generous than the tattoo implied.
One of the best character introductions ever, Jack arriving at Port Royal.
“I could never get my arggg right” lmao i weak😂🤣
I'm glad you enjoyed this! He wasn't already dead. He was only "Cursed" when he stole the gold! And it should have been an after credits scene
YEEESSSSS!!!!! This is a perfect movie and Johnny Depp absolutely made it so. There will NEVER be another Captain Jack Sparrow!!
Man its great to have you back! I feel like I'm sitting right next to a homie blazing with every upload. Thanks for being so relatable man.
BIG FACTS.
The hot pan on the bed:
They didn't use it correctly.
Wow, thanks for the info!
yeah. that bit with will saying, "so that is the reason for all the",... and does his Jack Sparrow impression, is pure gold.
Leo is easily the best individual reactor on the platform. He's got unique charm, personality, humor, and most important, likeability. I don't care whether he's seen these movies or not. Consistently entertaining...Welcome back sir!
You to much!!! Thank you😊
@@ITSMRVIDEO-rg9ms please react to my favorite adventure movie The Mask Of Zorro (1998). It stars Antonio Banderas, Sir Anthony Hopkins, & Catherine Zeta-Jones. It's got a great story, action, romance, easy to root for heroes, & easy to hate villains.
Mr. Turner is also Legolas in Lord of the Rings. This is what he really looks like.
Personally, I enjoyed 1 and 4.
Clicked in the first 30 seconds WOOWOO! Love that you're back, Leo!!
I saw this one in the theatre 3 times!! Love this! Johnny Depp is the man! You should react to ALL of his movies!
One of Disney's greatest ever films. Still love it to this day.
This is the greatest movie series ever.
I watched it a million times and never get tired of it.
"a little girl singing... I don't know what it is but there is something scary about a little girl singing"
thank you, Freddy Kruger, for that.
A really fun film. You can feel the energy of Robert Newton's Captain Long John Silver being channeled through Geoffrey Rush's Captain Hector Barbossa. They really embodied the pirate code.
Lol a dude named Barbarossa has a Celtic accent?
Your hustle game is on point, Leo. You've been busy. Welcome back again
This is the day you shall always remember as the day you were introduced. . .to Captain. . .Jack. . SPARROW.

So glad to see you are doing this series because it’s one of the best I’ve watched that included Johnny as Sparrow. You’ll love them all.
It was common in colder areas, but I seriously doubt it was needed in the Caribbean. It was only there for the scene later
So glad you’re back dude, lookin extra fresh!
Yeah buddy! Glad you back, we all need Mr. Video! Best reaction and a real dude, much Mahalo
One of my favorite all time movie franchises. This movie made Depp a super star!!! I mean he was a star but this shot him up to the top.
Depp has been an A list actor since the 90's. My guess is this is when he really turned up on your radar. Nobody promotes like Disney.

39:26 I'm dead ☠️
Also, you missed the after-credits scene.
But all in all, I love your reactions. Very wholesome.
The second one is even better imo, more humour, more adventure and more monstrous villains
"Borrowed. Borrowed without permission, but with every intention on bringing it back." ~ Jack sparrow
That's the line I use every time I may steal something xD

It’s possible with small items like a cup but not a whole boat. Myth busters did an episode testing it out. I was disappointed. I want to believe lol

If anyone else ever played Jack Sparrow, I would never watch another Disney movie.
@@susanalexander6721 Depp commented on this during the trial, stating how would not reprise the role even if Disney offered him "300 million dollars and a million alpacas." One of a film series where some sequels were arguably better/on par to the original, but nostalgia will always take me back to the original as my favorite.
Gotta say part two is just barely better for me, but this one always hits too
First is by far the best.... They get worse as they progress
@@JimmyInKona But do they really? Or are we just in love with the first because it's the first, and sets the stage for the rest? That's my struggle lol
@@Cubs-Fan.10 nah, they get way worse as they progress.... Huge plot holes and shit that just doesn't make sense everywhere
@@JimmyInKona First one has plot holes just as much others have. It's just the nostalgia and the first experiencing the world in the first movie, that tells you the first one is the best. Black Sails is awesome
Yes potc is such a solid lots a fun franchise
Johnny Depp made this movie so much fun! Another Depp movie i think you'd like is Sleepy Hollow
You really are bringing the heat. Just as advertised
This is just epic fun adventure film, and Johnny Depp just created a legend. Love the trilogy, and the 2 sequels are enjoyable too, but not as much as the first three. Back when Disney made fun stuff.
Glad to see you watching this one! Watching movies and such with you makes my day.
@@christhornycroft3686 Didn't like him in Lord of the Rings?
The first time I saw this film was on DVD with my family, man those where good times.
Have you seen him in that John dillinger movie? He was spot on
@@carlosspeicywiener7018 no, but now I will. He’s a really underrated actor. Did he not do an offbeat one recently with Kevin Smith?
He was great, and beautiful in Chocolat. Leo would love Edward Sissorhands.
People always think that the boat wouldnt have air under water. But actually it would, it would just be impossible for two people to hold a boat under water. Especially one that has a big ass air pocket. Wood floats, so does air.
You can try it on a smaller scale,
Get a pan fill it with water,
take a cup stuff a napkin in the bottom so that when you turn the cup upside down it wont fall out.
turn the cup upside down and push the cup straight down into the water.
the water should be high enough so the cup can be fully submerged in the water.
pull the cup back out and the napkin wont be wet.
make sure to keep the cup straight when putting and pulling out of the water, the idea is to trap air in the cup. tilting it will cause water to get in.
Can’t wait for the rest of the movies.
If you like Pirate stuff check out Black Sails, one of the best and most underrated shows of all time, like Game of Thrones but with Pirates. It’s somewhat historical but a prequel to the book “Treasure Island”
