If you ever realized, the sword Will was stabbed with was the same sword he made in the first movie when we first see him grown up. He made it for Elizabeth's father who when killed was given to Norrington, then when Norrington dies he stabs Jones with it and you get that quick line from Davy Jones, "Nice sword". He keeps it and then stabs Will with it at the end.

@@Emanuelnx It was Commissioned by Elizabeth's Father, who then gives it as a gift to Norrington off screen. At the end of the first movie, Norrington holds up his sword, the same one will made in the beginning, saying "This is a beautiful sword. I expect the one he made it, to be just as devoted in all expects of his life." His settle Jab and Respect to Will that he best take care of Elizabeth.
However, in the Second Movie, he is thrown out of Office as Comador and left jobless as a bum. And at the end of the movie 2, when we gives the heart to Beckett, he get's his job back into the military/company. 11:04, while Elizabeth's Father is STILL alive, we see him in the scene even, Beckett tells Norrington his 'New Station' deserves an 'Old Friend'. So sometime between Movie 1 and 2, when he was Kicked out of the Military, they took and kept his Sword, the one Will created.
It's given back to him at 11:04 in this movie, the third movie, at which point is used to Stab Davy Jones right before he dies, who then turns around and stabs Will with it. We never see the sword after that, but it's safe to say it's the Sword Will keeps on him as Captain of the Dutchmen.

I love very few movie endings as much as this one. It's the definition of bittersweet relief. Ultimately everyone is alive and well but everyone somehow failed to achieve what they were after the whole trilogy. The loving couple found together but can only see each other one day in 10 years. Jack enjoys his freedom more than ever but is missing the black pearl again and Barbossa got his ship but never got rid of Jack and his antics.

44:02 - THAT is Captain Edward Teague, Keeper of the Code of the Brethren and father to one Captain Jack Sparrow. More importantly, though, he's Keith Richards, front man of the Rolling Stones. Back when the first Pirates movie came out, Johnny Depp famously said in an interview that he based his performance as Captain Jack on a combination of Keith Richards and Pepe LePew. Casting Keith Richards as Jack's father is thus the franchises ULTIMATE meta joke.

    Fun fact:
In a deleted scene they showed that the reason Jack and Beckett had a falling out was because Jack freed the slaves he was supposed to transport once he realised what his "cargo" was.
On one hand its a shame that they cut it out as it showed more of Jack's good side and the fact that his opinions on freedom are genuine.
But on the other hand, I don't mind that they keep that more of Jack's past a secret. Us not knowing everything there is to know about Jack makes him more interesting.

26:46 this interaction between Jack and Barbossa is arguibly my favorite scene out of all of the movies. It really shows who the 2 are at their core.
Yes, they're rivals , but they have a genuine respect for each other that doesn't need to be said, you *feel* it as they contemplate the grim reality of their old world coming to an end. The edges of the map are being filled in, there are fewer and fewer true adventures to be had, both characters know that they will one day become relics of a bygone age and that they can't keep cheating death forever.
In fact it really sells the tone of the movie and the trilogy as a whole. Its suprisingly melancholic theme for a bunch of movies that started off so simple and fun.
And its one of the main reasons why I think they should have ended the movies with this one. All the long running plots were tied up with the neatest of bows and Jack is off to yet another adventure, racing against Barbossa.
    It was bittersweet, but hopefull.

People hate these movies too much. Great performances, great historical context, great films. Becket did accept his fate and go out like a G.
Crazy fact, there was a deleted scene where it was revealed Jack use to sail a slave trade ship for Becket, but couldn't take it and freed them, was nearly assassinated but pulled through because of his original deal with Jones.
Please watch the next 2, they're great too.

Correction, people hate the film's that came after this one too much. People in general LOVE the first three. But even the most avid defenders have to admit the next films just aren't as well written in parts. They're fun movies still, but not quite as epic as these first three.

Barbossa is the captain of the ship, and if there is no priest on board, then the captain is the one that can wed people.

This film really made me empathize with Mr. Jones. Love is a cruel mistress, and often times makes no logical sense. It's a cautionary lesson that the callous spectrum of love can even outweigh it's beautiful enveloping counterparts. It's also a huge parallel that synergizes with the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and the Observer effect. Which basically equates "anything you observe you end up changing it."
In this case it's about love. We can't love something without changing it. Even if we knew all of the prerequisites, if we magically gained omnipotent knowledge and took steadfast action to stop changing something. The byproduct of us trying not to change the thing we love, changes it. It's a weird paradox that we destroy, change, consume, and edit anything and everything that we love. We can't not take pictures, take a keepsake, build a road to it, build a bridge across it, damn it up, marry it, take a piece of it home with you, touch it, feel it, taste it, smell it. It's a universal constant that we change whatever it is we love, be it for the better or worse, be it conscious or unconscious. Somehow we end up changing everything that we love, admire, respect, and long for.
And if Calypso had been faithful and stayed true to her words and returned after 10 years to show Davey love again... she would have never of been herself, as free and as chaotic as the Ocean. It's a brutally honest love story about trying to change some one when you should just love them for what/who they are. Poor Davey Jones, the shear poetry of a man who can't die carving out his own heart for fear of the woman who tortured it. Dark dark poetry.
