This is one of those movies everyone can enjoy. I've watched it dozens of times at least. So many quotables.

When I was in the military, they decided to show an entire plane of infantrymen this movie on the way to Iraq, in 2004. It was interesting watching a bunch of dudes with guns, quoting Lindsay Lohan.
But let me tell you we made fetch happen,
We made our interpreter watch it and then taught the Iraqi National guard the word Fetch. Gretchen would have been so proud

I never knew anyone thought "Mean Girls" was a "chick flick". I've always just thought of it as a great comedy.
But a majority of the people who watch it are….chicks. Ergo chick flick

Well anyone who has seen it knows it's not. But a lot of guys have avoided it over the years, thinking that it's a chick flick. Sure the main characters are girls, but the premise of the movie is really just about high school drama, and it's not really that gender specific in my opinion.

More "girl" movies would be awesome lol. Obviously anybody can enjoy them but this one seems to be popular amongst men too because of the humor. I remember reading the book it was based on a year or so before the movie came out and then seeing it in theaters. 💕

@@vzhawdows kinda yeah because there is a tone, a cliche if you will that is aimed for female audiences and not to say romance but this fantasy love story of the independent work woman who doesn’t want a relationship is falling for the single dad with a daughter around christmas, i wouldnt flat out consider a movie starring a female lead as inherently a “chick flick”.. book smart, lady bird, i,tonya

This came out when I was entering high school and me and my friends didn't think this was a movie just for women, we all thought this movie was really funny, well written, Lohan at her apex.......big fan of Mean Girls!

Yep! My husband says that a lot of guys are missing out because some of his favorite comedies are “chick flicks”, like he loved Legally Blonde lol.
I believe Tina Fey was one of the main writers. This movie was brilliant. It was originally rated R, but they managed to get it to PG-13 by just changing a couple lines.

Leo, me and my daughter watched this together when she was in early high school, we laughed so hard!! We STILL quote this movie at each other all the time.. she once posted and tagged me on Facebook " My mom... made out with a hot dog"..😅😅... and I replied," IT WAS ONLY ONE TIME!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My first cousin once removed is the one who made out with the hotdog. She still makes decent royalties from the movie.

This is the gold standard of high school movies. My teenage daughter encouraged me to watch it a few years ago, after she mentioned a catch phrase I didn't understand, "On Tuesdays we wear pink." I'm like what's that all about. Now, I know.

Best teen angst high school movie is "Heathers." Winona Ryder. Christian Slater.
Never would have expected this movie to become the classic that it has when my wife and I saw it in 03. Also never would have ever imagined it would have become a kick-ass musical on Broadway. But it really holds up well.
Oh man you need to watch _Legally Blonde_ and _Miss Congeniality_ , two more "chick" flicks but you'd love them lol
This is one of those movies that can get labelled as a "chick flick" in a derogatory way for people who haven't seen it - but it's pretty much universally acclaimed by men and women alike thanks to Tina Fey's tight script and the way it leans into such absurdity to the point where it basically becomes a satire of high-school movies. Tina Fey was a head writer for SNL for years, and she's mentioned in interviews how she likes to write in a style where it's basically almost every other line should be a joke or an absurd line. You can see that in this movie, 30 Rock, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I think what works for her vs other writers who try to do the same thing is that every joke has has a genuine purpose to either foreshadow something, or give a better insight to a character. Like even coach Carr had a whole character arc lol. Plus she rarely gives the jokes time to breathe, and just goes right into the next point of dialogue as if nothing happened.
"Jambo!" was the most hilarious part. She thought because they were Black they'd speak Swahili. 🤣

The fact that Rachel McAdams played the role of Regina George so well the same year that she starred as Allie in The Notebook… RANGE, PEOPLE.
2004 might have had the best lineup of comedies ever! Mean Girls, Dodgeball, Anchorman, Shaun of the Dead, Harold and Kumar, Napoleon Dynamite, EuroTrip, Meet the Fockers, Along Came Polly, White Chicks, 50 First Dates, Shrek 2 and Team America just to name a few. Hard to top that many great comedies in one year.
Early 2000s was a great time for comedy. Crazy how so many came out the same year lol.

I love Easy A. I don't consider it a "chick flick". There's fun for everyone.
If I was Kady, I'd remind the principal of the fact that I was a new student and barely knew anyone, so me making the burn book wouldn't be possible, but cop to the false rumor about the math teacher and take responsibility. Also I'd point out that Regina allegedly put her photo inside to not incriminate herself and appear as a victim. Even when I was 16 I knew how to take accountability for my actions.
Also, how would a new student have a yearbook, knowledge of all the rumors, and 4 styles of handwriting? I do think it was an integrity move for her to take the blame for the whole book when she accepted she had hurt someone, and it does not seem anyone actually thought it was (all) her doing.
Still remember when I was young and stupid I had a prejudice for this movie without ever seeing it. Just cause the typical old stereotype 'it's a girls movie"

It's the same with superhero movies being classified as "guys" movies lol, but my husband is a huge comic book nerd and he got me into the MCU lol, I've legitaemely enjoyed so many of them lmfao. Same with some DCEU movies.

Fun fact about this film. This was All filmed in Toronto canada. That mall they walk in, I grew up with that mall. And that shop where Janis worked at, that store actually excited till 2012. Georgia‘s house was up for auction couple months ago
Soon, all my favourite male reactors will have reacted to Mean Girls. I’m collecting them all, lol. Such a funny movie! The book it’s based on is also about the particular ways in which girls fight, eg the backstabbing, not including someone, spreading rumours. It differs from how guys fight. But of course the movie can be enjoyed by anyone!

Clicked quick on this one :) This is one is a high school classic. I dont usually gravitate towards girly movies but this one was written by a woman (The teacher/Tina Fey) and she did well with this. Please please check out "Steel Magnolias" or "Fried Green Tomato's" sometime. Youd get a good laugh from both

IMO this is both a female and male movie, the comedy appeals to both (something you’d expect from all the SNL cast in and behind the scenes in this movie). And all the quotable moments lol, hardly does anyone not know “the limit does not exist” or “she doesn’t even go here”.

About 20 years after high school, one of the boys who was part of the group that made my life a living hell, tried to pick me up, trying to get my digits, while I was waiting for the bus on the way home after work (at Sears, ha!). I was all, "You don't remember me, do you?" I let him down, kind of gently, but I did just tell him that there was no way in hell, in nice but firm words, that I'd go out with him and he should just move along. And then! About a year later, it happened again! This time, I said, "We did this last year, Chris St. Germain, and I told you no last year, and the answer is still no. Because you were a total dick to me in high school." Thought I would share that. It was nice.
