- This 2006 Mondeo was found to be mixing engine oil into the coolant. The expansion tank was heavily contaminated with oil. there was no sign of water in the oil.

Putting a new cooler on is the right thing to do. Nice repair.
+T.O.A.G - flushing it was the messy part of the job.
You help me to save 50 euro with this video. Thx a lot Man.
Thank you for nice instruction.
Great video
Nicely explained, I have the same problem with my ford Mondeo MK4, how much the oil cooler replacement, coolant flush would cost near Birmingham? An approx.
Why remove the entire unit and not just unbolt the cooler?
Good vid....I need to change 1 of the hoses from the oil cooler to the thermostat as it's split and leaking...its hard to get to the hose from oil cooler..is it best to drop the oil cooler like you did if so is it just a simple job (hose swap)....cheers
Those hoses are a pain to get to. Can't quite remember exactly how I did them but I used a flexible hose clamp tool. If you do take the cooler off change the o-rings and gasket while your there. Good luck.
Automotive Solutions..... thanks for quick reply and yh I'll do the gaskets aswell..thanks 👍
I have the same problem with my jaguar X type 2.0 d 2005 , is it the same procedure to remove the oil cooler our am I going to have difficulty ?
- I have not changed one on a Jaguar but it should be the same setup.
I've found oil in my coolant expansion tank. I've a 90 min drive on the motorway planned tomorrow to my hometown, where my preferred garage happens to be. Would you say it is safe to make the drive? I've noticed no signs of overheating of any other issues as of yet.
The vehicle in the video had oil in the coolant for quite some time before I fixed it. I can't advise using a vehicle with anything other than pure coolant/water in the system though. Your choice I'm afraid 🤔
I have one question.Did you have some outflow of oil from the Oil Filter Housing during the dissasembly ?Tommorow I want to exchange hose from Oil Cooler to Water Pump.I am going to do it from the bottom and I wonder how much oil will spill from engine oil sump.Thank you for you answer.
Its a messy job but it doesn't drain the sump of oil. Just residual oil from the hoses / cooler assembly.
Thank you for your advice.
Brilliant vidio, where did you buy the o rings or do you know the size of o rings?
Bought from Ford main dealer. Thanks for your comments 👍😁
Mine did the same thing mk4 gti 1.8t just change that and the car is overheating now any idea?
- could be any number of things from failed water pump to headgasket. You need to do some further testing.
Has same issue, the garage changed the oil cooler and coolant resovoir bottle but after few short drive I can see oil is floating in the resovoir bottle.
Called back the garage he said that's normal as they can't get all oil out of water system.
Can you advise
Very hard to clean inside the entire cooling system so some oil will appear in the coolant bottle as it floats on top of water. If it gets bad then get them to check it out.
@@Automotive_Solutions how did you flush the cooling system, the garage has changed the oil cooler but after I got my car back the coolant reservoir is full of black oil gunk.
The garage won't flash it as he said he can't get rid of the gunk and instead he as me to flash it with some dishwasher liquid.
I took the resovour out and and noticed all the and radiator full of oil gunk.
I tried clean the gunk from the reservoir but it does not come out.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated
@@akthar787 I used a cooling system flush fluid and then a couple of crushed dishwater tablets. Circulate the coolant up to temperature each time. Flush it through with a hose pipe. You need to do this quite a few times and even then you'll still see some oil floating in the water.
You didn't show how you flush the coolant, I was waiting for it but:( can you please tell me how to flush it properly? I change direction pump few months ago, my coolant was very stable( no loose) but now when the temperature is hot, I am loosing the coolant. I will will check the problem this week-end. But please where to open to flush the coolant. thx
Feed Brain - I removed bottom hose on radiator to drain coolant. Replaced hose then I added fresh water and a crushed dishwasher tablet. Ran for 1/2 hour then repeated twice more. Even with this you'll still get some oil in coolant if its been heavily contaminated. Hope this helps.
Thx, i don't have oil in my water system.
i can´t imagine how oil can mix with coolant :|
does it take E5 or E10 ?
This is a diesel
oops
