    Same engine here on an X-type.
    I bought the car a few weeks ago for cheap because it had a limp mode/glowplug fault. Turned out to be a sticky turbo actuator. When I started the car I could hear the actuator buzzing and clicking and I just literally gave the lever a helping "shove" to help it on its way when the car was idling and the problem and light disappeared!
    I followed up with the Mr. Muscle method, where you drill and tap a hole in the turbo to clean the vanes. Easy, but scary, job.

    If the indiciator plug just comes on sometimes. Or if it started to come on, only when hot and with time startet to come on more often with the limp-mode. And eventually the indicator lamp will always be on and driving in limpmode.
    IT COULD BE THE ACTUATOR FAILING!!!
    I tried alot of things. And after some more research i found this out. Simply was the actuator. In the shop they will force you to shift the whole turbo since the actuator is normally not for sale alone. You could find one very expensive (several 100 $£€) or buy a used one at ebay. There is also possible to fix it yourself. I did but my soldering of the wires only lasted for 20minutes or so.
    I got a used one for 45£ and its never been a problem since!

    My heater plug light is flashing on my transit van but it starts and runs fine, the only thing I can say is wrong is that when you leave it idling for long periods of time then go for a drive i get loads of smoke out the exhaust but after driving for a while it clears any ideas? it's a 2002 t280 100 2.0td swb I tried plugging in my obd2 code reader but I won't connect. Thanks, Great channel btw 👍

      The UnrulyRUclipsr it's hard to say as I cannot see the van but there is a couple things you can try maybe clean the EGR valve also you can put special cleaner through the diesel but I really need some coats before I can really give you any real advice

    Turbo vains clogged up caused by faulty leaky injectors easy fix drill hole on the side of the exhaust elbow and spray inside degreaser etc to unclogg the turbo then unclip the actuator link arm and move it back and forth till it feels free .replace your 4 injectors first abd do egr clean .....

  • @brendanbradyfan3589
    @brendanbradyfan3589 7 лет назад

    Engine oil in your tank that's interesting will remember that one if I get any problems.so I guessing say you have half a tank of diesel maybe 1/2 a litre of engine oil or so

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  7 лет назад +1

      Brendan Brady fan yes mate it's the worst case scenario but it will help lube your injectors and your pump like I say in a video your car will smoke but you can save yourself a fortune hopefully you won't have to do this

    Be sure to check that your glow plugs are 12 volt before testing them with this method...some cars have 7 volt or 11 volt glow plugs and would not test them over a 12 v battery 😎👍

    Hello. I have a problem with my 2006 Mondeo 2.2 TDCI. I own it from April 2018. Last month the engine revs were really shaking on cold start and there was also some white smoke and smell coming out of the exhaust for a few seconds. Also there was a lot of grey/black smoke coming out while accelerating. My mechanic changed the EGR valve, because the one before stayed in open position. And he also cleaned that black manifold. A few days with no problem and a lot less smoke coming out. Today happened the same story with the grey/black smoke on accelerating and soon after that the glow plug light started blinking and the car lost the power on acceleration. It also smokes more white than before. What do you think it could be the reason? Turbo, injectors or anything else? Thank you for a good video.
    Best regards,
    Gregor

      Hi mate it's going to be very difficult for me to diagnose as if your mechanic had a look at it and he can't figure it out will be very difficult for me over message but you are going to have to get it tested do a leak down test on the injectors and also check the high pressure pump and see what pressure you are getting from it

    • @zaduwanija4462
      @zaduwanija4462 6 лет назад

      bodgit and leggit garage Thank you for the reply. Next week the diesel experts will take a look at it. My mechanic doesn't have the right tools to check the injectors and pump so the only way is to do the full inspection of the engine. Thank you again. :)

      Sean Ryan hi mate the first thing you need to do is to take the diesel filter out cut it open and see if you've got any metal particles in it if you do you are going to need a new pump and new injectors that's the first thing you need to try

    Please help, every now and then i have the problem with the flashing glow plug symbol on start up which resets when i turn the ignition off and try again, but the main problem i'm having is when i'm driving and put the clutch down when coming to a stop the cut cuts out completely as if the ignition has been switched off but when i turn the ignition off and back on the car stars straight away what could this be?

    • @jamestortice3823

      I haven't had the car that long so i not really sure

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  6 лет назад

      james tortice write the first thing you need to do is change the diesel filter this is the cheapest option what you need to do with your old one is cut it open and see if you can see any metal flakes in it if you can you are in trouble the next is going to be very expensive you're going to need a lot of stuff but just check this first
