- How to do a Diesel injector leak off test ford mondeo mk3 ST TDCI,
This is a simple test to carry out and can be done on the Ford Duratorq 2.2 tdci which is the same as the 2.0 tdci and also the Jaguar X type.
For this test to work it take 5 minutes and is recommended that you have a timer or stop watch or just use your phone.
To do this test make sure that your engine has been warmed up fully and once all test pipes are in place.
Start engine and leave to idle for 2 minutes
Then hold accelerator at 3800 rpm for 30 seconds
Then idle for 30 seconds
Then hold accelerator for another 30 seconds at 3800 rpm
Then idle for 30 seconds
Then hold accelerator for 30 seconds at 3800 rpm
Then last 30 seconds at idle
25mm or less is a pass but anything above 25mm is a fail
If the injectors have failed your need to find out if its old age or contamination ( injectors contaminated due to fuel pump braking up ect)

First of all, thanks for the video, it depends on which brands of injectors you have installed, whether Bosch, Denso or Delphi? Are there any differences in the procedure for how many seconds the engine runs, etc. I have a Focus Mk2 1.8TDCI 2007. Greetings
leave injectors how they are, plenty miles on them left,and very balance, unless you looking to have your pocket empty,
the rule of thumb - more then 40ml Per minute, then thing of changing them.

Im not a desial guy mate, my friend thought it might help some people out so i filmed it while he explained it.
These are perfectly fine, very little leak off tbh
trouble with these cheap kits is the measurement on the side , mine are not in ml , it only takes 60 ml to fill my bottle to 10 which looks like a identical kit to this one ,not saying his is wrong like mine ,so what ever kit you have just check before you start ,i could not understand why my readings were so bad , they were not ,it was the bottle markings they were just over half what i thought the bottle indicated
Chazz nice video but there are several doubts about the real reading values and you NEED to clear this up to us, the viewers. its 25ml for all test? its 25ml per minute? does the distance (size lenght) of the rubber tube interferes in these values? also nothing was mention about the ends adapter for your the injector once this ebay kit has several sizes. cheers

There is no need to replace the injectors, as they didn't get over the 125 ml limit in 5 minutes. It shouldn't go over 25 ml / 1 minute or 125 ml / 5 minutes, if it's less, the injectors are still good.
Did you replace all the injectors after this? What was the conclusion please. Going through similar with a Peugeot 407, cheers!

Mine was filling up to full in less than 15 seconds, 3 of 4 injectors:-) I'm sending injectors to repair and high pressure pump to check for metal chips.
Did you get the info from Delphi / Ford or did it come with your kit ?

Hiya, i would say if that was happening change them. This car is not one of mine so got no access to it again, im about to replace injectors on a mk4 mondeo in the next few days.

I tryed this leak test on my mk3 mondeo 130 ps and i forgot to block clamps wich fit on engine.Now i think i have air on system and doesn`t want to start.I tryed many metods but with no luck.Any advice ?? Until test leak injector the engine starts normaly
25ml per minute. So as long as all under 125ml they are ok.
How much diesel is supposed to come through the return line pipe while doing this test, stuck my return line in a 1.5l bottle and filled it up to 1 litre in just5 mins, injectors seems to filled to 5ml mark all of them .

It shouldn't be over 25 ml / min or 125 ml / 5 min on one injector, if anything less, it means that the injectors are still good, there's no need to repair them, but 1litre in only 5 minutes, it's definitely the sign of a bad injector, that needs to be replaced asap.
Did you get any injector knock or symptoms to make you look at this

He should do. If he hadn't run the leak back test that's where they diesel would have gone anyway, back into the tank.
