How to replace agitator dogs in a Kenmore clothes washer

Ready for a new experience, not being mechanical by nature, I thought I would try my hand at diagnosing through video research and repairing my clothes washer.
Testing out the tub area I could at least determine the motor was not the problem nor was the lower portion of the agitator so this helped me refine my search online and reach the conclusion the agitator dogs were apparently not just worn out but broken.

The black rubber ring washer, where does it go? Also it's got a groove on it . Can you explain? Thanks

Will try to explain since the rubber washer was not something I had to change or have issues with so did not cover it in detail but it looks like it is part of the softener dispenser unit and the grove is where it fit, I assume, to keep liquids from getting into the guts of the machine.

@@mobilehomelife4028 Thanks, when I opened mine up it was layin on top of the piece that holds the dogs so I was confused. I just put it on the softener unit and it fit perfect. Thanks again.
