Need to put all these in glass cabinets and start building your families museum, Jack, I'd visit to see it all up close, and I'd say many others would, awesome episode👊🙏, Cheers🍻🍻🍻 KC 🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😊🤗👍
Farm stay experience with a difference, if you do, don't forget me, I'd love to see Larry again and yourself 😊
Yeah would be cool to do!! Cheers!!
Very interesting to see the evolution of race gear Jack, thanks 👍🏻🇦🇺
You're welcome, Cheers!!
Great to see the F1 race worn Rotary Watches Stanley-B.R.M. helmet there in the P207
Yes very cool! Cheers!
In the Silverstone museum they have old helmets with holes drilled into the front of them for ciggies. Mad times
Haha that's amazing! Cheers!!
Liked this one a lot, thanks Jack!
Glad to hear it! Cheers!!
I bet Larry still fits in all that gear too
Good chance!!!!
Thanks Jack. What an awesome segment... Kept me fascinated for the whole thing. Love ya work an keep it coming.
Many thanks, Cheers!!
Bloody fantastic video Jack - thanks so much for putting it together.
You're welcome, Cheers!!
That was actually bloody interesting, thanks Jack
Cheers!!
The badges removed from the Piquet suit just shows the type of bloke Larry is. Nothing need be wasted - it was better quality than he had and it still had plenty of use left in it. Larry a true Aussie icon, can drive anything and more than capable to know how it all works. LEGEND ! thanks to Jack for putting this together, super genuine bloke.
Not wrong there! Cheers!!
Great information Jack. Cheers Steve.
Cheers!!!
Hey Jack. Love your work 👍
Cheers!
What a great video! Got a bit of PTSD when you showed his last suit as that's when I stopped following the V8 Supercars with intensity. Project Blueprint and Larry's departure....... 😭
A great era!! Cheers!!!
Hi Jack awesome video. Some of those items were in the Bathurst motorsport museum when I went there last time. I have been following Ur career. Cheers
Yes they were there when there was a bit of a LP collection! Cheers!!
Excellent, as always, thanks Jack. Typical of LP to 'recycle and re-use'. What must Nelson Piquet have thought !
Haha that's it!!
Great episode. A lot more interesting than I expected. Well done.
Cheers!!!
I would love to see a very detailed look at the adjustable watts linkage. loving the channel over here in the UK. keep up the marvelous content
Yeah we will try and cover this off at some point
As a motorbike rider, the importance of a good fitting, lightweight helmet is sooo underrated. I know the feeling of the inside stitch gloves. Great video Jack.
Yep you understand!! Cheers!!
Absolutely fascinating
Cheers!!!!
Excellent work Jack! I'm going to guess the 3rd helmet from the right with the Dunlop sticker on it would possibly when LP raced with John Bowe in the MR8's. I heard he had that helmet a lot longer than he should have. But that's a rumour 😁. Love seeing the older stuff and how it changed over time.
Haha sounds about right!!! Cheers!!
Great video jack thanks for the safety evolution I can sympathise about the glasses wearing racers I’m a glasses wearing dude too
Glad you enjoyed, Cheers!!
Great video mate ..... Super interesting to see some classic kit ..... Hang onto that Erebus suit .... Keep up the great work mate
Cheers!!
👍👍👍, the Jaguar Le Mans suit looks great.
Yeah the whole kit bag is still there in near new condition, 2 x suits, all the team clothing etc.
great video Jack, wow the race suits and helmets have come a long way from the 70s to the present day. cheers mate
Haven't they! Cheers!!
Hi Jack. How I'm not surprised your Dad only replacing the right boot when it became worn out. If I recall correctly from the interview your Dad did with Russel Ingall and Paul Morris, he said in the movie Rush that he was represented in the drivers briefing while wearing blue. I assumed that was his race suit colour but I definitely could be wrong. Thanks for putting the effort into making this video.
You're welcome, cheers!
Great vid...enjoyed the comparison
Glad you enjoyed it, Cheers!!!
Well done Jack 👍👍👍
Cheers!!
Well presented as usual great information 👍 much appreciated
Thanks for the feedback, cheers!!
Thanks for the effort put into this video, Jack. A fantastic idea to show and explain about all this gear. Very much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!!
Thanks from England + the helmets should have a helmet standard sticker inside them being either SFi or Snell. The Snell standards changed every 5 years so Snell 85 for example. The suits will have an FIA standard such as FIA86 then later on FIA 8856-2000. A suit can be double or triple layer and still meet the same standards. The risk of modifying a suit or helmet is that some or all of the safety features are compromised.
Correct!
Bloody awesome, thanks Jack!
You're welcome, Cheers!!
Simpson versions of the HANS device are much more comfortable, and the cheaper versions (not carbon fibre) are cheaper to buy than the horseshoe variety too. Of late HANS are mandatory in nearly all forms of car racing in Australia. I didn't know RPM was Australian made - will come into consideration in future.
Good stuff, cheers!
cool interesting
Cheers!!
Jack - brilliant. TY sir.
Many thanks, Cheers!!
Really interesting episode Jack. Good luck for the new season from the UK.
Many thanks! Cheers!!
Thanks for the great content.
My pleasure! Cheers!!
Great history of what is probably often glossed over , but so important for protecting in a fire like the example of Romain Grosjean in 2020. Thanks for the interesting perspectives and background to a drivers world.
Absolutely, Cheers!!!
Good onya Jack, love hearing about the Perkins legacy.
Are you collecting race gear from the different eras? Toby gave me his overalls and jacket from either ‘93 or ‘96, can’t quite remember, but if you are going to do something constructive with the gear, I’ll happily pass it on. You can’t have my half of a roller rocker out of the ‘96 engine though, that’s bloody special to me. Toby gave it to me when I was in hospital after a big bike crash I had.
Thanks! I'm not really actively chasing stuff, looking for a few items that are missing but appreciate your offer. Cheers
Great episode 👍
Cheers!!
Great vid Jack, I'd never weighed my gear for club level racing so it was interesting to compare-I use one of the original Holden Young Lions suits from '97 & it comes in at 1.6lg....feels heavy especially compared to 0.9kg lol cheers 👍🏁
Yeah the newer stuff and technology is much better, lighter, more breathable etc. etc.
Another excellent video Jack. Wasn’t the blue suit the one Larry wore with Jason in 79 too?
Could be right there!
Awesome video as always Jack!
Glad you enjoyed! Cheers!!
One thing that's missing as part of the racing apparel, sanitary napkin pads, used on any body part that would cop a hiding. @17:55 🤣That's a Larry thing.
There's a pic (with write-up) of Larry wearing the denim suit on f1forgottendrivers. Different sponsors (incl Durex). Bottom of the page his wearing a green & gold @ 77 Belgium GP.
Yes Surtees was sponsored by Durex
some nice memorabilia!.. cheers for the look!..thanks Jack
You bet! Cheers!!
Hey Jack, with the bruising on your shoulders (if you still ever use that style HANS) I had the same issue but I bought some EXGEL HANS pads which are a Japanese brand and using those completely stopped any bruising and pain I had after racing 👍
Yeah i've heard good things about some padding but the Simpson also is a bit easier in the driver changes, so i'll stick with that for now. Cheers!!
G'day Jack. If you can cast your memory way back to the Winfield Triple Challenge at Eastern Creek a good mate was racing in Group E Production on the same weekend. One of our team members took a photo of you on a billy cart behind the pits, and you had on one of your old man's helmets. Just wondering if it's one of them on this video Mate. Cheers.
Ahh the good old Triple Challenge!!!! Yes very likely the same helmet actually, the first of the Arai ones! Cheers!
Cool Jack thanks for sharing. 👍
No problem 👍
P A R M A L A T "PARMA" is a town in Italy, "LAT" is short for latte, ie milk :-)
Cheers

Cheers!!
Where's the 1982 Bathurst gloves? LOL
Haha i don't think they exist!!!!!!!
@@perkinsengineering Yeah, still "missing" after all these years ;)
Do you guys have that Indy style car?? Or know where it is 😏 be cool to see that in the shed workshop 😊
Which one??
Both 😊@@perkinsengineering
@@MetalMania3DTV-TAS-AUS not sure what the Indy style car is to be fair
@perkinsengineering ok bugger, all good thanks for your honesty 👍 🍻🍻🇦🇺
5:16 what’s the metal rod on the bottom of the side for?
I think it's either a vent or something for air/oxygen to get plugged into, or maybe something to do with communications.
How do you wash them
Some will be machine wash and some will be dry clean only.
My own personal suits i wash myself, short cycle, cold wash only a small amount of powder/fluid, hang to dry. A lot of people get them dry cleaned but they can still be a bit smelly!! Cheers!!
Correct!!
😜👍🇦🇺
Cheers!!
chris tormay from aungers..crane cams distributor..
Good stuff Chris! Cheers!!
Is that the ‘95 winner behind you?

I wonder why Enforcer and the Dude have stopped making content? Because they did some 'inside baseball' stuff like this. Guess they got offered better money to do something else..
Not sure, probably a question better directed to them?
Love to see Jack win Bathurst.
Same!!!!
You will !! You should have a full time gig @@perkinsengineering
Your Dad always wears Green and Gold helmets and never with the sponsor names on them any pertinent why , Or green and gold colours stands for Australian Made logo. even though he was a privateer ..
He mostly ran the green and gold as Australian colours, in later year had Castrol and Holden signage on there.
