kool walk through on the finding of the results on the types of sizes that are relatively close to each other, and how they impact movement and constriction. awesome video !! 1000 thumbs up !
Just got myself a shiny new RPHA Helmet and a one piece is definitely next on the list. I'm 100% sure I'll have sizing issues because I am 6'3", 170lbs and I already have a really hard time finding an overall that's not too short shoulder to crotch. That said I like a tighter fit, which is one (of many, quality feel being the biggest) reason I've picked it over the Nexx XR2 for example which was pretty sloppy in XL.
I don't blame you at all for the tight fit, I am cold natured and when the weather gets the slightest bit cooler down here in south Tx like it is now I don't own a leather suit and would not wear one but I do put on my leather jacket and will soo need pants too, I would rather sweat a bit than feel coolish at all riding, I have a 2009 BMW 1200RT love it, people love looking at the bike, it's black and light grey, the black is really a dark grey very fine metal flake and it runs like a bat out of hell. Get a tight fitting suit if your headed for the track, you won't be sorry.
What do you do if you are 5'7'', normally wear a 48 jacket, and 29" inseam pants? The one piece suit may fit the torso, but the pants would be way too long. (asking for a friend 😉😉
Hey Brian, Could you please tell me what size was apt for you, what size was too tight and what size was too loose. Share the size of the suits just to see and understand how small is small and how big is big. Thank you
Van, I wish you told us the sizes in the video... I just got my first suit today! Going to the track next weekend!! I'm really a size 44 euro and I ended up getting a size 46 which is just the next size up.. My question is. Generally speaking: is 1 size up going to make a significant difference? I would consider my suit (size 46, to be a comfortable fit vs. Race fit) I suppose that takes me to another question. Is it okay to track a "comfortable fit" suit? Perhaps you wouldn't suggest it but surely there are many people that do it. Thanks! I love what your doing within the sportbike market. Fantastic job!
You will be fine at the track with a suit that has a more comfortable fit. We did not call out the sizes in this video because many of the suits run a little different when compared to one another. - Van
A good guide to fitting. Although when ordering online its hard to trust the size charts. Also id say the majority are priced out of these high line suits.

Appreciate your assistance on this matter. Thank you once again & keep up the great work STG team. Loads of love & respect from Kuwait.
Thank you for watching and all the kind words! If you are going to go with a custom suit you will need to get measured by a tailor and give those measurements to the suit maker. Most of the companies offering custom suits have a measurement sheet they can provide you with that they will use to build the suit for you. - Van

Hey! Recently i bought my first 1pc and i have some concerns. The seller seems to know what he’s talking about but I’m afraid that the suit he sold me is too small. Taking off from a stop sign i have trouble getting my feet on the pegs without moving around in the seat. Also i have to lean towards the bars to even get on the bike because otherwise i won’t get my leg high enough to swing it over the bike. Do you think there’s a chance the suit will break in after a couple rides or is it definitely too small? Cheers!
You should not have a hard time lifting your leg when you take off. We recommend our customers to try the suit on with all the protection they will wear with the suit and sit on the bike before they ride in it to make sure they are happy with the fit. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thank you for the response. I bought the suit before i got the bike so I couldn’t do that. Luckily after riding for 500kms the suit is starting to break in and im feeling optimistic about it! Also- I’m 6’6 so that doesnt help with the leg situation :)
Oh man I'm dealing with long legs and trying to find female leather trousers/pants that cater to long legs is atrocious. But the whole 'it restricts your movement' is something I've experienced a lot. Tip to all other people with long legs: do not settle for regular legs. It absolutely impacts your riding negatively.
Good info, I was trying to decide between the size 48 or 50, now that I heard this, definitely the 50! The 48 might fit while just standing upright, but once on the bike would strangle the......
@@hein0712what did you end up getting? I’m stuck between those 2 as well, I’m 5’7 with broad shoulders so it’s tough finding suits that I can zip up that aren’t so long on the inseam
Good video Brian. Very well explained. What kind of suit would you recommend for a non-track use and a non-sport position? A two pieces suit or textile?
Textile wears lighter and will protect the rider pretty well in a single crash. With leather is wears a little heavier as expected but has the potential to offer a higher level of protection and multiple crashes. In the end only the rider can choose the direction that makes the most sense for them. - Van
Wear riding liner to try new suit!!! I forgot abt it today and it took me a good 15 mins to get the suit on and off! And there is a moment that I thought I couldn’t never get it off unless I go out to ask for help lolll
the too small one looks about like every single revzilla race suit vid featuring hi-vis brian... "6' 195# wearing a size 52" 😂 I'm 5'10" 145 and can barely zip up an Astars size 50 with a regular back protector... with a forcefield sub4 a size 52 is a race fit.
That is because the tighter the suit fits the better it looks in the video and marketing. I am focused on how the suit performs on the bike so you can enjoy your ride. - Brian Van
i have got exactly same though. when you put that fancy AS suit I think it is really too big, like one size. when you wear "too small" I got feeling like - its ok, it will brake after few hours - thats what sellers tell me, when I try Ixon Mirage 54 EU (now wearing 2pc AS 54EU). I was trying SPIDI 54... can't put in on by myself, 56 was way too big. I'm on market for new one, and have to buy something until 14 may... Ixon Pulsar 54 - no problem on and off, but I got feeling like there is no space when I was in full tuck position.... but sellers says.. it will brake, you will see ;) what to do? I'm like 190cm and 104kg. Waist around 103 and reducing ;P , chest around 118.
I have a nice textile icon jacket with armor, would like a suit but doesn't make sense for me never really wanting to achieve speeds higher than 60 in my commute to work. That and I'm truly thinking mostly about the akward situation to take that suit off at work. Will have to do leather jacket and leather pants at some point
Hey Van! Thanks for the video, I recently got a Dainese 1 piece suit in size 52, it is perfect in the chest, it’s a race fit, however in the butt area it is very saggy 😂 once I get in race position it’s good and tight. Just looks goofy when walking around 😅
Sounds like it fits perfect. If the suit looked amazing when you were walking around it would make getting into a tuck very difficult. Thanks for watching! - Van
I have too big and riding with it bcs I'm short and its hard to find sth good, but its good if its comfortable too for me..I have all the protectors in place because I have developed shoulders, so the one-piece suit pulls on the protectors, the same on my arms, thighs too, legs even enough - they support the shoes a little in place of the protectors, but the leather stays in place because of my thick calves - only the knee is loose. ...the size is too big, you can only see it because the suit is wrinkled when I stand, but I am very comfortable in it and as a one-piece I use it for routes :D
this is good even for those who just go for a walk in the city or travelings ? I was thinking about the r 1200 gs, and I just wanted a safe walking device. although everything I’m going to buy is going to be 5 of each. I will have to leave 1 more at my mother's house in Brazil
PRO TIP: Buy a WHITE under-shirt and suit. You'll be about 10x cooler in the paddock. Black may look great, but it's hot as fuck at a track during the summer.
That is a super old Astars model that was discontinued a long time ago. Their latest catalog of back protectors is a huge step forward from this one. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/alpinestars-body-armor-protection/?_bc_fsnf=1&Product=Back+Protector - Van
I have a problem finding a suit that fits. Of the suits I’ve got, the legs and arms were to long and I couldn’t sip it up because I have a big chest. I’m a very athletic build and if I go bigger in size, the arms and legs will be to WAY to long while the chest area may fit. This was some RST leathers and I’ve browsed a couple size charts and it’s very similar between all of them, from alpine stars to other brands
You should look at the 56 and 58 Euro sizes. The 56 will be a tighter race style fit with the 58 offering a little more operating room. The in boots do not have any affect on fit. - Van
You kind of showed it when you were putting on your boots. I'm wondering where should I expect the pant leg to end (talking about the cuff) when a suit/leather pants fit correctly? Especially when I am on the bike in a normal riding position. Thanks!
Every suit will be a little different and we are all shaped uniquely. As long as the boots overlap with the leg of the suit a reasonable amount you are good to go. What you want to avoid is having the leg too long extending over the ankle, this will make it bulky in the ankle area making it harder to shift etc... - Van
Hi, i am 5'11'' 195lbs, i ususally wear a Dainese Size 54, it feels really comfortable in riding position with all the protectors. I started losing weight and planning to lose about 10 pounds from now on. So, considering this and here in the comments said Dainese is more a "slimmer" type of suit and Alpinestars being more broader. Do you suggest to go down to size 52 for the GP Tech?
I would suggest going with a size 56 Euro, same size I wear. Here is a link to this suit on our site, we have a video reviewing it with me wearing it: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/alpinestars-gp-tech-v2-leather-race-suit-tech-air-race-compatible/ www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motorcycle-race-suit-shopping-guide
Hello! What suit (brand) will fit me the best? I am 170 cm tall, I weigh about 80 kg. My legs rung shorter and my torso is longer. I have tested Spidi Supersport Wind Pro, but it's a bit long on the legs. Let me know! Thanks :)
Actually funny I got this video on recommendation because while getting another suit is on hold until later in year (my current one is a replica and i lost faith in its crash integrity), i was just thinking about looking at suits. I do like race fit but two factors really stop me from using it; bad left shoulder and my right knee gets rubbed raw something horrible just after hour of wearing so I go for comfort fit (knee gets rubbed but not as bad) which works better for me. I am considering perhaps trying my luck with a kangaroo leather this time.
You should be able to go off the rack with a leather race suit. I would start you in a 54 to 52 Euro in most of the suits we offer. For more specific sizing assistance please reach out to the team and they will get you dialed in. - Van
Your videos are very informative, great work. I have a quick question. If I compare a 54 euro and 56 euro Dainese Laguna seca 4. Would the arm circumference be different ?
Question I wear the alpine star tech 5 air bag under my suit so I get a very tight fit on shoulders but makes it where bottom half is loose not sure how to fix this
I would suggest trying on another suit to see if you get a better fit. If you want some focused help please email in on orders@sportbiketrackgear.com and the team can sort you out. - Van
Now a tutorial to get OUT of the suit haha, sometimes it gives me terrible cramps in my feet and shoulders. When i have the choice (@home...) i peel it off lying on the couch of bed.
It will be give an take to find a suit the fits you well off the rack. How much give and take really depends on just how tall and skinny you are. Also important to remember you can make up for short sleeves and legs with gloves and boots. - Van
All the suits can run a little different. Please shoot the team a call or an email and they will get you sorted out. orders@sportbiketrackgear.com or 888.784.4327 - Van

Great vid. I am due a new suit. I have a larger 1pc so i could fit clothes under and water proofs to use all year. Biggest problem i had was off the bike so debaiting on a 2 piece how will it compair to a 1pc
2 Piece suits are a good option for street use, for track use I prefer the 1 piece. With a 2 piece you have a lot of extra material in the midsection of the suit where the pieces overlap that makes them feel bulky and can restrict motion a bit. Also feel the 1 piece is safer because it does not have that connection in the middle. - Van

the worst is a too big suit , you have a moving suit around you when you go flat out
Ah ha!!!!! Best tip ever with the zip first then pull lower pant leg up 😊

Another reason that a large suit is bad to wear is that the folds in the leather will create wind resistance. It will cost you time in a race.
Solid point there. - Van
Every suit fits a little different. Please shoot the team and email on orders@sportbiketrackgear.com and they will get you sorted out. - Van

Youre the reason I'm going to the Isle of Man.
Tactical x Recon same duuude 😂 ready to do both in a row!
Race fit)
I suppose that takes me to another question.
- Van
Absolutely great video, this was really helpful and thorough!
Thanks for watching! - Van
A good guide to fitting. Although when ordering online its hard to trust the size charts. Also id say the majority are priced out of these high line suits.

Superb idea to show us the 3 fits and how that matters. For myself looking for my first race suit it really helped although i am still not sure what size to go for. 5’10” 82 kgs, do you think 48 or 50 would be better?
Appreciate your reply, thanks!
At 180lbs I would put you in a 54 Euro. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thanks a lot brian. Do u think this will be a good size for most brands? I dont have the luxury to try some brands. Looking at a furygan right now.

@SportbikeTrackGear Thank you for the very simple & practical video of choosing the right size. Van thank you for all the videos you & your team is putting up, great help & feels home. You guys are awesome. I am from Kuwait, now my problem is that I would love to do a custom suit apparently after watching your video how am I suppose understand what would fit me right given the fact that I am fat guy.
- Van
@@sportbiketrackgear perfect! thank you so much Bro Van you are awesome. I am really not an expert but with STG I understand & I am learning. Appreciate all the effort you & your team are putting forward to educate and guide ordinary people like me. Moreover I am so happy that most times you work on a Yamaha R1 & that is my bike. Going back to the question so STG is not into custom fit suit? also wish to know the inner wear you just had beneath the leathers does that come custom as well or how would i determine choosing the right size for me being a fat person.
Really helpful video. Thank you very much, helped alot! 🤜🤜👍👍

Thank you for making the video
Oh man I'm dealing with long legs and trying to find female leather trousers/pants that cater to long legs is atrocious. But the whole 'it restricts your movement' is something I've experienced a lot. Tip to all other people with long legs: do not settle for regular legs. It absolutely impacts your riding negatively.
In your case you will need to go to a shop that has items in stock for you to try on. We do not do a lot of ladies gear so we do not stock much. - Van
Good info, I was trying to decide between the size 48 or 50, now that I heard this, definitely the 50! The 48 might fit while just standing upright, but once on the bike would strangle the......
Mind sharing your height and weight?
My 2 piece suit size is eu48 and I can’t decide either 48 or 50 for the 1 piece suit.
@@hein0712what did you end up getting? I’m stuck between those 2 as well, I’m 5’7 with broad shoulders so it’s tough finding suits that I can zip up that aren’t so long on the inseam
@@chanoob4646 No haven’t given it a go. I am 5’8 and not wide chest. I think you can fit in 50 short.
Yes you should always wear an undersuit. - Van
the too small one looks about like every single revzilla race suit vid featuring hi-vis brian... "6' 195# wearing a size 52" 😂
I'm 5'10" 145 and can barely zip up an Astars size 50 with a regular back protector... with a forcefield sub4 a size 52 is a race fit.
That is because the tighter the suit fits the better it looks in the video and marketing. I am focused on how the suit performs on the bike so you can enjoy your ride. - Brian Van
Sportbike Track Gear your videos are awesome!
i have got exactly same though. when you put that fancy AS suit I think it is really too big, like one size. when you wear "too small" I got feeling like - its ok, it will brake after few hours - thats what sellers tell me, when I try Ixon Mirage 54 EU (now wearing 2pc AS 54EU). I was trying SPIDI 54... can't put in on by myself, 56 was way too big. I'm on market for new one, and have to buy something until 14 may... Ixon Pulsar 54 - no problem on and off, but I got feeling like there is no space when I was in full tuck position.... but sellers says.. it will brake, you will see ;)
what to do?
I'm like 190cm and 104kg. Waist around 103 and reducing ;P , chest around 118.
Golden tips! 👌🔥
Thanks for watching. - Van
While some riders will use a full suit on the street they are really intended for use on the race track. - Van
Very helpful as always, thanks.
Happy to hear you found a good fit. - Van
this is good even for those who just go for a walk in the city or travelings ? I was thinking about the r 1200 gs, and I just wanted a safe walking device. although everything I’m going to buy is going to be 5 of each. I will have to leave 1 more at my mother's house in Brazil
I would not suggest a one piece leather suit for that type of riding. - Van
thanks a lot for the advice ! You guys rock !

PRO TIP: Buy a WHITE under-shirt and suit. You'll be about 10x cooler in the paddock. Black may look great, but it's hot as fuck at a track during the summer.
Black is the #1 selling color. Always has been, always will be. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear I dont doubt it haha!

I’m looking at dainese suits, I’m 6’3 205 with like a 32 in seam with levis, what size should I look for if I plan to use the inside boot?
Here is a link to this suit on our site, we have a video reviewing it with me wearing it:

You need to be comfortable to ride well in the suit for sure. - Van

My racecar suits I’m able to get custom made, I’m 6’3 and around 165.. I’m tall With a 32 waist and big shoulders

im 6,2" and weigh 70kg, with 34" inseam.. any recommendations?
Your videos are very informative, great work. I have a quick question. If I compare a 54 euro and 56 euro Dainese Laguna seca 4. Would the arm circumference be different ?
For sure the arm circumference would be a little larger. Not a massive amount but proportionate. - Van
Fantastic video thank you. Maybe do one for ladies suits next.
Sorry to say there is not enough sales in that category to justify the time and effort it would take to make that happen. - Van

Thanks for this video sir. Most excellent!
Now a tutorial to get OUT of the suit haha, sometimes it gives me terrible cramps in my feet and shoulders. When i have the choice (@home...) i peel it off lying on the couch of bed.
Any advices fortall and skinny riders? If the size is too small is not gonna be long enough if is long enough if gonna be to shaggy everywhere. 😅
It will be give an take to find a suit the fits you well off the rack. How much give and take really depends on just how tall and skinny you are. Also important to remember you can make up for short sleeves and legs with gloves and boots. - Van

Hey Brian. If I were to buy a race suit to ride a more upright bike like a supermoto, where you aren't tucked as much, how should that affect the size I choose?

- Van
That is a nice suit... looks better when you see it on a person... 👌 sweeeet..... I was wondering with the air bag size wise .. I am 6'4 and 210lbs 34inc waist and 114 cm chest.. my dainese were 58eu so guessing with alpinestar 58 but with tec air bag EU 60 perhaps??..
